Lol.....i keep saying it, these people are too daft. They dont know anything. Imagine what this one wrote below. This can only come from someone who never even passed through a secondary school. So long as there is a demand in neigboring countries, the prices of petroleum product will be inelastic in those places. It is what a A JS3 economics student in secondary school knows. Let me sttempt to break it down further if they will even have the capacity to understand. The demand for items considered a necessity commodity is price inelastic. That is, so long as people need it for their everyday life and survival, any price increase will be pushed to the consumers. In Nigeria and neigbouring countries, petroleum products are considered a necessity for everyday living....transportation, power generation, etc....so if you increase the prices, it will be passed on.....simply means if the prices are increased in Nigeria, it will be increased at the borders too, it will never deter smuggling....in fact, it increases the motivation for smuggling. A typical example is when the subsidy was claimed to be "gone" by the cerificate forger when he was "high", they increased the prices in Nigeria, it never discouraged smuggling because there was demand and the border remained porous , they simply passed on the cost to the neighbouring countries. If you increase the prices to N10,000, so long as there is a demand in those places, the border is porous and they have the funds, they will continue to buy at your prices no matter how high you raise it to deter them from buying. Another example, as much as the US government have made the cost of smuggling of hard drugs to the US through their land borders very costly, which has made the drugs more expensive in the US with its attendant implications if caught, smuggling of hard drugs through the land borders has never ceased nor reduced. In fact, its been on the increase....simply because, the demand is there and some people consider the drugs a necessity as lifestyle. The problem with mofos like the one below is that they take all the bull crap stories the government puts out there without reasoning it out first....maybe because they dont have the capacity to or they are agents of the government....... Just because the minister of state said recent fuel scarcity was due to the activities of smugglers they just never checked the facts, they accepted it and went to town. Nobody bothered to ask the minister why smuggling even takes place with the presence of customs and other security agents at the border. Is increasing the price of fuel the solution to smuggling or tightening of the porous borders? If you increase to N3000 per litre in Nigeria, but there is demand in those neighbouring countries, and the border remains porous, smuggling will continue. Rossikk: Anything lower than that and people will start smuggling it out again, and then back to scarcity and fuel queues, as we subsidize the entire West Africa. |

Never even got involved in Nigerian past 2 elections, never a supporter of all the candidates...they are all thieves. So for this retard to connect any discusion to election shows how dimwitted he is. Simple, Dangote selling to NNPC in Naira can not and will never affect the value of Naira because NNPC was not sourcing for local forex to import fuel in the first place.......it uss futures tied to iys line of credit ......lobatan!! This is what is too difficult for the buffon to comprehend....lol.....now writing epistles about elections that I never even took interest and had left their country fir them....lol!! fatboyslym007: Let me explain folks. The subject is showing symptoms of post election loss PTSD (PEL-PTSD). While not yet clinically diagnosed, these are the common symptoms seen. - irritability or anger - emotional distress and hopelessness - nightmares or flashbacks of loss - resentment towards political systems like INEC, Judiciary, ruling party. - disillusion and hallucinations: believes everyone that dares to hope is collect money from APC. - can't hold meaningful and sustained conversation. - could show signs of aggression and violence.
Coping mechanism: - Talking it out with a shrink - Limit exposure to News - Engage in self care
What to do when engaging PEL-PTSD?
- If online Gradually disengage from the conversation. Encourage him to get help from a shrink End the conversation so has not to endanger people around him. - If you are with them physically This is a different ball game. If outnumbered or alone with them agree with their point of view. Better to be wrong than hospitalized. Wish P. Obi was president that naira would have been #100/$ or lower, Nigeria would suddenly become a producing economy without transitions, and other myths that soothes their hearing. Gradually disengage and find the nearest exit.
While post-election loss PTSD-like symptoms are not as severe as clinical PTSD, the emotional distress can be very real. Seeking professional support can be helpful if symptoms persist or become overwhelming. |

FG, Research Centre Partner to Deploy Nuclear Reactor for Power Generation
May 3, 2024
https://www.thecable.ng/fg-research-centre-partner-to-deploy-nuclear-reactor-for-power-generation/
In partnership with the Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT), the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) says there are plans to deploy a nuclear reactor for power generation.
Yusuf-Aminu Ahmed, chairman of NAEC, spoke on Thursday at the 20th anniversary symposium of Nigeria’s first nuclear research reactor-1 (NNR-1) in Zaria.
Ahmed said Nigeria’s accumulated expertise in nuclear power positions the country well for advancing to the next stage of power generation using the technology.
“We have used the reactor for research and development over the years and now we are going to use the reactor for the purpose of generating electricity,” the chairman said.
“President Bola Tinubu has already given the commission a mandate to see how it contributes in the clean energy sphere of Nigeria and [how] the nuclear energy programme of Nigeria would participate.”
He said the project’s timeline would not be publicly disclosed, adding that international partners and vendors are working closely with the commission on the initiative.
Ahmed said intergovernmental agreements have been concluded with some vendors regarding nuclear power in Nigeria, noting that the president would make the announcement soon.
In his remarks, George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation, said the 20-year safe operation of the nuclear research reactor demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to the safe utilisation of nuclear energy.
Akume said the procedures involved in operating a nuclear research reactor are similar to those required for establishing a reactor that would produce electricity.
“President Tinubu has re-echoed the need for having nuclear energy into the sources of electric power generation in Nigeria and Nigerians should look forward to this power,” he said.
“Electricity generated through nuclear energy is clean and safe except for human errors or natural causes such as the one that happened in Hiroshima.”
Also speaking, Sunday Jonah, director of CERT, said the occasion was held to commemorate two decades of safely operating, maintaining, and utilising the first nuclear research reactor known as NNR-1.

You are one. Now....go to bed and sleep away those substances you took earlier today.....then when you wake up, read what you wrote again, this time, read it slowly, and since you will be sober, maybe you would finally realise how stupid and daft you sound. yinkkus: You just repeated your idiocy and stupidity because you have not said anything new, utter rubbish, nonsense, garbage.
You brain 🧠 is so twisted and dirty for sidelining the influence of the source of the product which is Dangote on the dynamics of how things will eventually go at the long run.
You are the enemy of progress who fails to rejoice at the birth of a new baby but start highlighting the problem the baby will encounter, one step at a time that's a spirit of envy, jealousy and hatred.
You think you are the only one who has sense, and you don't have sense, you think you are the only one who can project or forecast and your headache which is NNPC is no strange to anybody, it's the home of corruption and evil manipulation, they used to import this product from abroad after taking it there to refine and then take it back here at a cost which will reflect on the prices (inflated) , quality of products which they sometimes sabotage for selfish gains...and those who used to refine the products are abroad unlike Dangote who is locally based and who we can interfaced with and to an extent have a say as per press release on development and direction of petroleum products in the country, so throwing off such influence and talk as if nothing will change at all is madness on your part.
Even if Nnpc should buy from Dangote, there won't be no need to travel to and fro for refining purpose that should be a positive reflection on the price, production are readily available here. Dangote has also promised the products won't get reduced in terms of quality unlike what we used to have, promised they will track consumptions by local consumers unlike hoarding and sell to neighbouring countries at a higher price, so what saner people are telling you but you simpleton has failed to realize with you stubborn coconut 🥥 head is it won't be business as usual, although NNPC will buy but the dynamics at the long run Dangote will have a say because his name and his products are as stake. When pressure begins to mount, if things are going the way of the old , of course Dangote is on ground to brief the populace on the direction of things, we can hear from his own end unlike what we used to have, purely mono - lies, and who says NNPC as main buyer of dangote products wont change along the line via pressure, of course we the population are the consumers of this product, so it's a victory or win for us that there is a refinery on ground at all, whatever changes that come along the line perhaps nnpc stake in buying may reduce to 60% or there about any gain out of this is courtesy of this local refinery in this first place, without it we don't even stand a chance, so that's what reasonable people are telling you that you don't talk as if it's going to be 0% change, but you ipob or at least ipob-like full of hatred, curses and abuses wouldn't listen, because you are deaf and dumb, won't even celebrate new thing first, no thanks to your hatred and lack of objectivity, |

This is how politicians loot and get away with so much impunity in Nigeria, when the country is full of retarded morons like the poster below. Nuclear reactors, since 1970?? Lol...hallucination!!. Pls post the source and lets see. Anyone reading this will think that she meant nuclear reactor power plants not knowing that it is one small wooden box kept in one corner of a physics laboratory in ABU named NIRR-1. It is what was left after a joint research project with China Institute of Atomic Research and in 2018, after they finished the research studies, China took away all the critical elements of the research, leaving only near empty boxes and irrelvelant components. The Nigerian government, in their characteristic stupidity, set up a whole agency/parastal full of people who collect salaries(same as the Nigerian space and satellite Agency in Abuja) doing nothing other than look after empty wooden crates or boxes that China had taken the main components away since Dec 2018. I'm sure the buffon either works there or has someone who just sits idle there collecting salaries on behalf of the policticians and she is so daft to publicly exhibit her lack of intelligence on what she knew very little about thinking everyone on nairaland is a dimwit like them or in their circle.
