A lion will never condescend to the level of eating grass even if there is no more food in the jungle...There will always be other jobs in future. The uncle is simply myopic, that singular 5 mins might cause her sorrow all through her life. |

Earthquake strikes country still recovering from devastating quake that killed more than 8,000 people just weeks ago Nepal has been hit by another strong earthquake, sending people in the capital, Kathmandu, rushing out on to the streets just weeks after a devastating quake killed more than 8,000 people and destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes. Live Nepal earthquake: 7.3 tremor hits near Mount Everest - live updates Casualties reported after earthquake hits a country still recovering from devastating quake that killed more than 8,000 people last month Read more The US Geological Survey said the quake had a magnitude of 7.3 and struck 42 miles (68km) west of the town of Namche Bazaar, close to Mount Everest. Shockwaves were felt as far away as the Indian capital, Delhi, and Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. At least four people were killed in the town of Chautara in Sindhupalchowk district, north of Kathmandu, after several buildings collapsed, a spokesman for the International Organisation for Migration said. Sindhupalchowk suffered the heaviest death toll in last month’s quake. Two people were killed in India, state officials said, one in Bihar state and one in Uttar Pradesh. Residents in the Indian town of Siliguri, near the border with Nepal, said chunks of concrete fell off one or two buildings. Much of Nepal still lies in ruins after last month’s 7.8-magnitude earthquake, which levelled centuries-old temples and triggered avalanches on Everest, leaving many climbers trapped on the mountainside or buried beneath tons of snow and ice. Tuesday’s quake came from a depth of 11.5 miles, deeper than the 9.3-mile depth of the quake on 25 April. More shallow earthquakes tend to cause more damage at the surface. Nepal earthquake: how to donate Read more As violent tremors began again on Tuesday, people in Kathmandu, panic-stricken after the 25 April quake, rushed outdoors, Reuters reporters said. Parents could be seen clutching children tightly and hundreds of people were frantically trying to call relatives on their mobile phones. Shopkeepers closed their shops and the streets were jammed with people rushing to check on their families. “I’m heading straight home,” said Bishal Rai, a man in his 20s, who said he was trying to contact his family in the north of the capital.

booblacain:Smooth Fm's popularity isnt too massive because they play classics, same with Classic Fm. If you compare the followership of Beat and Naija fm who are owners of Classic fm, u will understand that very few Nigerians love classic music |

STAYING SAFE IN TRAFFIC JAMS Traffic! The one word every metropolitan resident hates to hear. Yet it is the unrelenting reality. Most people are bound by their daily responsibilities to spend some time in traffic. Seeing as a lot of hours are spent in traffic, let's look at a few ways you can take charge of your safety while stuck in city jams. 1. If you drive, ensure your vehicle is well maintained. Carry out the necessary spot checks before driving out every day. Doing this will minimize the risk of being stuck in an unpleasant situation, such as having a breakdown on a dark road at night. Of course some emergencies may still arise (such as a flat tyre or an overheated radiator), but at least you'll be better prepared and not likely to be a target of traffic robbers and miscreants. 2. Be very careful of whom you offer rides to. You simply cannot afford to do so at the expense of your own safety. It's an unfortunate sign of our times, but it is important to at least be familiar with your passengers. Conversely, as a pedestrian please be careful of the rides you accept. 3. When in a vehicle, minimize the use of expensive gadgets. Of course if you're driving, this means NO gadgets! Focus on the road. As a passenger, be very aware of your surroundings. You must NEVER be distracted by your phone, and do resist the temptation to whip out your laptop/tablet to get some work done or just browse. Yes traffic is boring...but limit these activities to your phone and even then always be at alert. That traffic hawker near your window could very well be a thief. 4. Ensure that valuables are out of sight. That means your designer bag doesn't stay on the seat beside you, ladies. Please avoid using flashy jewellery - you can put them on at your destination. The less conspicuous you are, the better. 5. Always keep your windows wound high up. If there's no air conditioning the windows should as high as possible while giving yourself space to breathe. This will make it more difficult for anyone to just reach in and grab something. 6. If you are on foot, be very vigilant at bus stops. Especially if you have to jostle for space in public transport. Keep a firm tab on your wallet/handbag to avoid the possibility of pickpockets laying their hands on it. 7. Always be aware you are among strangers in public transport. It is best practice to mind your own business and do not get involved in any disputes or fights. Most times robbers use the element of surprise to steal. Always be alert and aware of your surroundings. Above all, continue to put safety first! CREDIT: GIDITRAFFIC |
