The Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has debunked reports linking it with the presidential ambition of some southwest politicians in 2023.
The group in a statement on Monday by its publicity secretary, Yinka Oguntimehin submitted that what Nigeria needs to be better is not for any of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu, and Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi to be the next president.

According to OPC, whoever succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 will not make much difference without the restructuring of the country, hence the group insisted that what Nigeria needs is restructuring.

It wants the country to adopt the 1963 constitution which allows each region to develop at its own pace.

Oguntimehin made the submission while distancing the OPC from an alleged mega accord of 57 civil society groups rooting for a southwest presidential candidate.

Six passengers have been confirmed following multiple accidents which occurred on Monday along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

The Ogun State Traffic Management Agency and Federal Roads Safety Corps, in confirming the accidents, disclosed that twelve other persons were injured.

According to a statement signed by a spokesperson for the FRSC in Ogun, Florence Okpe, a total of 38 persons were involved in the accidents caused by excessive speeding, dangerous driving and loss of control.

“A total of 38 persons were involved which comprised of 20 male adults, 13 female adults, 3 male children and 2 female children. 12 persons were injured, 8 male adults, 3 female adults and 1 female child,” the statement said.

Controversial Nigerian transvestite, Bobrisky, real name Idris Okuneye has tendered a public apology to Dubai-based businessman, Mompha, real name Ismaila Mustapha, and has debunked claims that he dated the socialite.

It would be recalled that in the latter part of 2021, both men who were once close friends were involved in a clash after Bobrisky’s former personal assistant, Oye Kyme alleged that both men were lovers.

The Dubai-based businessman Mompha became furious at Bobrisky for failing to debunk the comment made by his former aide.

Their altercation did not end there, in December last year, Mompha also found himself in the middle of the feud between Bobrisky and another of his former ex-best friends, actress Tonto Dikeh.

Immediately after the altercation, Mompha on December 23, shared photos of a lawsuit he filed against Bobrisky.

The businessman accused Bobrisky of not debunking Oye Kyme’s earlier claims about them being homos*xual partners.

Further, the businessman also accused Bobrisky of making a false claim of him borrowing his car each time he’s in Nigeria.

Mompha also alleged that the cross-dresser carried out a campaign to smear his name with an assertion of him being “an audio billionaire renting cars in Dubai for the gram”.

In the early hours of today, Sunday, January 2, Bobrisky has now tendered a public apology to him.

In it, Bobrisky revealed that he wanted to start 2022 in peace and would like to apologize to Mompha who had been good to him.

Singer Harry Song reveals he was a victim of paternity fraud

Nigerian recording artiste, Harry Song has claimed that his former girlfriend lied that she had twin babies for him.

Taking to his Instagram story on Friday, December 31, the Nigerian musician disclosed that he was a victim of paternity fraud.

Speaking via the social media platform, Instagram, Harry Song explained that his ex-girlfriend lied that she had twins for him just to extort him.

He also clarified that he has only one child, a baby girl named Daviva with his wife, Alexer Perez Gopa.

He wrote:
“Addressing this issue. I am not baba twins or daddy ejima.

There was never any twins anywhere. That lady never gave birth, she lied and was just eating my money.

My first child is Daviva.”

Grammy award winner, Burna Boy has revealed that he was prepared to make the life of Ghanaian singer, Shatta Wale a living hell wherever he goes outside of his native country.

Burna Boy’s reaction came days after the Ghanaian dancehall singer used derogatory words to describe entertainers in the Nigerian music industry.

Shatta Wale specifically stated that Nigerians are not doing enough to support and promote Ghanaian artistes.

Paris Saint-Germain and Argentine forward Lionel Messi has tested positive for Covid-19 and has begun self-isolating.

The French club said Messi was one of four players to test positive for the virus ahead of a French Cup match against Vannes.

PSG said Messi will miss Monday’s cup tie and will likely also be sidelined for the club’s first Ligue 1 match since the winter break, at Lyon next Sunday.

The other players to test positive were full-back Juan Bernat, back-up goalkeeper Sergio Rico and teenage midfielder Nathan Bitumazala.

“They are currently respecting isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocols,” PSG said.

The Argentinian star has endured a difficult start to life in the French capital since after an emotional exit from Barcelona last summer.

Messi has scored only one goal in 11 league appearances for PSG, although he has netted five times in the Champions League.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, Mazi Emma Uche has berated critics of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.
According to the politician, the Buhari government only needs encouragement for the efforts it has made so far and not some unhealthy criticism from Nigerians.

Uche added that the incumbent administration needs the support of citizens to overcome the myriads of challenges bedevilling the country.

While noting that criticism is one of the bedrock of democratic settings, Uche frowned at the attitude of some individuals, “who instead of proffering solutions to the fundamental problems facing the nation, would resort to destructive criticisms and tendencies that are unhealthy in deepening democracy in the country.”

Naija News reports that the Abia politician who had an encounter with newsmen on Monday, December 26, urged Nigerian leaders and citizens to use this festive period and as well as the coming year to pray for God’s intervention to the myriads of crisis impeding the development, unity, progress and peace of the country.

Uche reiterated his call for the citizens to continue to support the President as he had made appreciative gains in offering Nigeria’s democratic dividends.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday disclosed that he will not reject calls to take over power from President Muhammadu Buhari at the end of his tenure in 2023.
Tinubu stated this after a closed-door meeting with leaders of the Northern Alliance Committee in Abuja.

The former Governor of Lagos State who failed to officially declare his ambition, said political consultations are ongoing.

He said, “I am not going to turn them down, voices that clamour for his candidacy.

“But I will still effective and widely consult, particularly brainstorm with my friends and find a date to come out openly and tell Nigerians.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State says the National Assembly is too weak to override President Muhammadu Buhari if he fails to assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
Wike made this known on Monday during the flag-off of Chokocho-Igbodo Road in Etche Local Government Area of the state.

He argued that National Assembly members are not interested in protecting the interest of Nigerians and ensuring that elections are free and fair with the electronic transmission of election results.

The governor disclosed that President Buhari will decline assent to the bill in order to legal backing to electronic transmission of election results.

He alleged that the plan by the President to deny assent to the bill was part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scheme to rig the 2023 general elections.

Wike stated that the APC members are afraid that if results are transmitted electronically, they will not survive the 2023 general elections.

He said: “Three weeks ago I told Nigerians that there is a conspiracy not to have a free, fair, transparent election in 2023 and that conspiracy was very clear. And I told Nigerians, Mr President will not sign the Electoral Act amendment bill.

Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu, has advised the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to drop his presidential ambition.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, the APC chieftain urged the former Lagos governor to instead back someone from the southeast to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

While urging Tinubu to remain a kingmaker, Okechukwu urged the ‘Jagaban’ to back a younger aspirant from the South in line with the country’s zoning convention.

“If one has the ears our national leader, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on whether he should run or not for the exalted office of the President of Nigeria in 2023, my candid advice is that he should use his abundant endowments to unite the APC, mobilise the South and our beloved country, by backing a candidate from the southeast,” he said.

Describing Tinubu as a strategist, he said the former lawmaker should do the job of a mobiliser by helping to galvanise the APC for a compromise candidate.
