Theflint1:In the video of the militant “ general Asabuja “ I watched , the guy say ; ‘ No be Wike carry red biro give Fubara make he Dey sign make we Dey follow am ? …. Whether he like it or not Fubara must continue to Dey use that red biro Dey sign and we go follow am ‘ ![]() Omo! Strongmen too plenty for that state abeg. |
izzou:I don’t think it’s an exaggeration o. One woman we once worked together , she narrated her encounter with MKO as a young lady. She said that was when she actually knew MKO likes women a lot. She was a teenager who had not clocked 18 . The man came to air force base where she was staying then and the man just Dey shine eyes the moment she greeted him as an elderly person o. You know MKO stutters when he speaks , she said the man just Dey vibrate Dey talk “ ba ba bawo ni my dear…” ![]() She was innocent and didn’t really know baba was making overtures at her . It was later she realized baba picks up wives as easy as that. He’s always on guard to pick wives as random as that. |
GloriousGbola:https://www.nairaland.com/5240761/tinubu-asked-abacha-make-him Kola seem like a guy who was not in support of his father’s political ambitions . He seem like a guy still angry with his dad for listening to political praise singers who sweet-talk him into the presidential ambition Kola most likely enjoyed the life of the son of one of the richest men in Africa . All of that was disrupted wby the June 12 saga. He was most likely living far better than Dangote’s kids now back in the days . I feel for him sha . |
GloriousGbola:Kola Abiola did them bad jare. I bet u haven't read Kola's interview about his father, June 12 and Tinubu . Kola literally called out Tinubu for begging Abacha for commissioner job under Abacha's government. (Well, that is by the way).I think Kola being the guy closest to their Father and was of age gave him an advantage which most of his siblings feel he has used to his own selfish advantage while neglecting them. I honestly don't know if Kola is being wicked or the rest of his siblings are being entitled. But that is the legacy of polygamy as u have rightly posited |
izzou:Things are not usually static in situations like that. The way u saw those anomalies/loopholes years ago, certainly other stakeholders saw it and may have blocked some of those loopholes to a reasonable extent. It's not like people would still not be engaging in such sharp practices o, but certainly things would've been better. It's just like Yahoo Yahoo; most of the ways those doing it use in making money in 2010 would certainly have been blocked now. It's only the few that have the current formats that will be making money now. |
izzou:She's guilty of negligence na. |
GloriousGbola:Dem no dey teach that one for school na. An average footballer has just like 15 years as number of years to hustle i.e if u go professional by 18, by time u are 33 ur career is as good as finished. Any footballer that refuses to save for raining days within that period will surely see shege. |
izzou:I don't think the headline is misleading; the lady was actually arrested and so was her boyfriend. Maybe the headline should've been " Sharday Bakare and her Bf Andrews arrested for murder of 2 year old son"..... But I don't know if nairaland topic limit will not be exhausted before the OP finish writing the topic sef |
GloriousGbola:The crazy thing about this guy's story is that he cannot accuse village people for his ill-fortune. I remember about 10 years or thereabouts his father called him out for not taking care of him in old age. The man was actually truthful enough to acknowledge the fact that he was a deadbeat father while Essien was younger. But still Africans felt Essien should at least try and do something for the man. So today now he's broke but he can't blame family members like our guy Obodo, he can't put the blame on marital woes like Eboue, etc. Who will he now blame for this now ? |
Amoto94:I agree with u on the bolded. Whether it will be sustainable in the long run or not is definitely debatable. |
izzou:You are preaching to the choir bro. I work with a company that has a full fledged logistics team. On a personal level I've also dealt with logistics companies in the past. I know there are complexities in their operations and that's why companies outsource these things. Now U won't outsource just becuase u want to transfer ur headache but u will ensure the outsourcing is economically advantageous on ur part. |
izzou:What I'm saying is that ur subsidiary reports to the Group MD. The Group MD and the board can set the Logistics MD's KPI such that he will be expected to reduce to barest minimum the costs associated with running the subsidriary. Such savings in cost is definitely coming from saving diesel cost. If the model is not working, why do u think more companies are embracing it? |
GloriousGbola:That Bunmi Oni matter at Cadbury was a major corporate governance issue in Nigeria |
izzou:I never siad they don't need diesel for fueling trucks na, obviously they will need either diesel or CNG to power trucks. Check my response to Amoto, for multinationals that don't outsource distribution of their busines; some of them set up a whole new subsidiary for logistics . This subsidiary will have a functional management that will make sure the logistics arm of the business is a profit center like the rest of its subsidiaries and not just a cost center. When the MD logistics has his KPI tied to the profitability of let's say BUA Logistics; won't he devised every means possible to reduce fuel theft to the barest minimum? |
sleekdot:Apple manufacturing in the Asian market is different from what we are discussing here o. Here we are talking about two different companies sourcing for raw materials in Nigeria (and some abroad), having access to the same Nigerian labour force and having to operate under the same Nigerian regulatory framework. 1. The Western owned company will for example arrange for Life insurance for their staff as well as insurance against work related injury all in compliance with local laws. The Asian owned company will not take these insurances but rather bribe PENCOM and other government regulators when they come around to check their books. 2. The western owned company will pay competitive salaries in line with what obtains in saner climes. The Asian owned company will pay lesser salary, ban unionism and make sure staff welfare is at the discretion of the top management. 3. The western owned company always have its books opened and make it easy for the government to tax them as appropriate. The Asian owned company does a lot of staff to their books; the more u look , the less u see. They end up repatriating those monies they saved to Beirut, Mumbai, Hong Kong, etc. Yes, the company is after its own profitability but where does that leave the people( our people) ? |
izzou:I don't know which of their plants they make use of the power plants but I know they are currently building another 220MW power plant to supplement the one on ground. |
Amoto94:How do u think logistics companies make profit ? Do u think they hire their staff from abroad? I know a big time player in the logistics business; I mean a man who access bank facility, buys as much as 80 trucks for logistics business at a go and within 3 to 4 years he pays down on the facility. Different commercial banks literally chase after him to beg him with credit facility . How do u think this man gets to make money carrying products for different multinationals? It is simply because he has been able to solve what u have highlighted up there as a major problem in logistics; theft of fuel by staff. I believe this is the reason some multinationals have decided to outsource logistics to logistics companies. In fact I have a friend who works in an indigenous oil and gas company. Their oga delibrately set-up a logistics company solely for handling logistics side of the business. When the MD of the logistics company's KPI is tied to they being profitable, let's see how the MD will open his eyes and watch staff steal fuel to sell na |
GloriousGbola:In my last post before the spambot ban, I mentioned that Lafarge actually has a 90MW power station that independently generates power for its cement production(They make use of 50MW and send the excess 40MW to the national grid). Dangote , BUA, Honeywell ,etc all have their respective independent power plants that generates power for them independent of the national grid. A lot of heavy industry have moved away from diesel long time ago. |
raumdeuter:Treating one's employees well with good welfare package does not necessarily mean the company is wasteful like u are making it seem here. There's actually no big deal in a company providing lunch in the work place, dry ration and other added benefits to their staff.(Some Nigerian owned companies even do it in the financial services sector sef) These companies make serious money from the businesses they do and it will be wickedness on their part to make that much money without making some provisions for their employees who helped make those monies. Some of these things are not even luxury. For example , a multinational that owns plants where some chemicals and by products of petroleum products are made will provide cartons of milk for their staff on a monthly basis. When u see the staff of such company carrying Ghana-Must-Go bag of peak milk home, u will think the company is being wasteful . But in the actual sense he needs that milk due to health hazard he's exposed to in the work place. Now if an Asian takes over such company and stops such dry ration, I know some Nigerians will see it as they bringing an end to wastefulness but they don't know they are only supporting an action against their brothers and sisters. In the long run these Asians taking over Western owned businesses are not doing us any good. They don't even pay as much tax as their western counterparts because they know how to "cook books", the jobs they offer are low paying jobs, whatever they save while "cutting cost" ends up getting repatriated to their home countries etc. Let government fix the economy and let businesses be able to thrive, not only Asians who offer less to the economy in the long run |
