Intervention, subsidy, etc., all mean the same thing.

Don't be in a hurry.

We are still in the festive season, and during this period, Diaspora remittances are at an all-time high.

We want this Naira appreciation to be sustained. If possible, it should continue to appreciate to the level it was at when this current government took office in May 2023.

What we are against is the use of lies, falsehoods, and propaganda to celebrate an imaginary and abracadabra Naira appreciation that is not sustained.

In a thread from 2009, two years after Tinubu's tenure as governor of Lagos State, Tinubu was not mentioned among the three best governors Lagos ever had.

But suddenly, in 2023, some urchinstons, BATerians, paid agents, and mandate standers, along with the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway propaganda machinery, began spreading the biggest lie ever told....that Tinubu built Lagos from scratch.

PoliticsDefending Tinubu’s Government Easiest Thing To Do – Bwala by Bobloco(op): 6:16am On Jan 07, 2025
The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, has described defending the current administration as one of the simplest tasks for anyone well-versed in governmental operations.

Speaking during Monday’s edition of Politics Today on Channels Television, Bwala addressed the speculation surrounding his new portfolio, dismissing claims that it represented a demotion.

“I have never been demoted. I have an absolutely good relationship with the president, and I’m happy doing my job,” Bwala stated.

The former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council shared his approach to defending the government’s policies.

According to him, clarity, honesty, and thorough research are key.

“To defend this government, in my view, is the easiest thing to do because you speak to facts, be honest with Nigerians, and then be ready to counter any negative narrative or agenda-driven narrative.

“So, once these three things are very clear to you and you have done your research, it is very easy,”
he said.

In fact, there is no line.

If there's any line, it only exists in the imagination of Tinubu, the APC, and particularly Felix Morka.

You spoke the truth and nothing but the truth in your New Year message.

The APC cannot take half of what they dish out.

During the Goodluck Jonathan government, the Janjawiid party called the APC crossed numerous lines, bridges, etc using lies, falsehood and propaganda, in their criticism against the Goodluck Jonathan government.

They even threatened fire and brimstone, going as far as threatening to form a parallel government. No one told them that they had crossed the line.

Today, they are telling the biggest political figure in Nigeria that he has crossed the line.

Obi would be a perpetual slave to the Hausa / Fulani. I can bet he would still deputise Atiku in 2027.
First and foremost, Tinubu is not a democrat. He has never been a democrat and can never be one.

Tinubu is a notorious narcotics trafficker, certificate forger, CIA agent, and a buccaneering power grabber engaging in criminal state capture.

Democrats don't possess such qualities.

PoliticsRevisiting Reduction In Cost Of Governance - Vanguard Editorial by Bobloco(op): 10:44am On Jan 06, 2025
During his New Year broadcast on January 1, 2025, President Bola Tinubu had acknowledged the sufferings which Nigerians endured in the past months on account of the implementation of the economic policies of his government. Waxing somewhat emotional, he thanked Nigerians for their patience and resilience in weathering the storm of hardship as government tried to find its bearing while navigating the complex challenges of economic re-engineering of the country.

Apealing for the understanding of all, he also used the opportunity to unveil broad-based plans that will fast-track a recovery process for the country and relief for long-suffering Nigerians.

According to the President: “To all citizens, your sacrifices have not been in vain over the past 19 months. I assure you they will not be in vain in the months ahead.” He did not stop there. “We will continue to embark on necessary reforms to foster sustainable growth and prosperity for our nation. I seek your cooperation and collaboration at all times as we pursue our goal of a one trillion dollar economy”.

But while the President’s empathetic acknowledgement of Nigerians sacrifices and his appeal to them to be partners in progress with his government are in order, it is imperative to point out that government is also under obligation to act fast to alleviate the prevailing hardship in the country.

For sure, the past months have been a most difficult period for most Nigerians who have had to make tough sacrifices while enduring belt-tightening routines that have left them gasping for survival.

So, as a partner in progress with the people at a time that calls for sacrifices, government should reciprocate by demonstrating its commitment in this regard. Therefore, we advise that all elected and appointed officials at the federal level should accept a significant cut in salaries or allowances for a period, from six months to one year. Also included should be things like furniture and wardrobe allowances.

We are aware that members of the House of Representatives in July last year resolved to slash their salaries by 50 per cent for six months as their own token to efforts to address the economic hardship arising from the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

The savings from this may not be huge but the gesture behind it is a symbolic way of communicating to the Nigerian people the willingness of those in government to also sacrifice or accept belt-tightening measures.

The President should also take seriously the issue of frivolous and fictitious items in the budget as identified and severally canvassed by civil society groups like the Centre for Social Justice, CSJ. These groups in the past took time and made efforts to identify fictitious items which if eliminated can save the government billions of Naira.

The president should also consider possible cut on wasteful expenditures that are not essential. Such expenditures include purchase of vehicles, external training, meals and refreshments at meetings, consultancy fees, etc.

We believe benefits of such sacrifices will certainly go a long way in assisting government in its economic recovery efforts. It will also help convince the people of government’s sincerity in the implementation of its various economic policies and programmes, while affirming that both government and the people are indeed true partners in sacrifices and progress.

PoliticsFubara Can Transact Business With 3 Lawmakers, Court Rules by Bobloco(op): 7:49am On Jan 06, 2025
…Dismisses suit seeking representation of 2024 budget

PORT HARCOURT: A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has declared that the Governor of Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara, has the legal standing to transact businesses with the lawmakers that did not vacate their seat in the State House of Assembly

This was as the court on December 20, dismissed the suit seeking to compel the Governor of the state to represent the N800billion 2024 Budget of the state to the aggrieved 27 lawmakers of the State House of Assembly led by Martins Amaewhule.

This followed a suit marked, PHC/3552/CS/2024 filed by the Registered Trustees of the Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners against the Government of Rivers State, Governor of Rivers State and Attorney General of the state.

The suit amongst other things sought that the court presided by Justice Sika Aprioku order to compel the defendants to represent the 2024 Budget to the 27 lawmakers.

The claimants in the suit questioned the failure of the defendants to re-present the 2024 Appropriation Bill of Rivers State to the State House of Assembly led by Amaewhule for enactment into law.

However, Justice Aprioku in his judgement after considering the arguments of the parties in the matter said the Governor can transact business with the members that did not vacate their seats.

The certified true copy of the judgment, sighted by Vanguard read in part: “The Governor cannot carry on business with those who defected and by that act of defection, lost their seats.

“Therefore, the same way His Excellency Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, presented Budgets and financial Bills with only Six members, when the numbers were less than two third 2/3 of the 32 Members, so shall His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State be constitutionally guided to interface, and approach the properly constituted House of Assembly led by Oko-Jumbo, to carry on business of the State and until the 27 Lawmakers who defected and lost their seats, approaches the Court, for a redemption or INEC conducts another election to the seats vacated by the 27 Lawmakers upon their defection.

“In sum, until the Supreme Court gives its verdict on the issue of jurisdiction which affects the status of the 27 Lawmakers, it is only those who did not vacate their seats, the Governor can, constitutionally approach to present budget, appoint Chief Judges and President Customary Court. Also screen Commissioners, including the Attorney General and make Board appointments.

“That the claimant’s claim seeking declaratory and injunctive reliefs for the Representation of the 2024 Budget to the former 27 lawmakers, who defected and automatically vacated their seats, lacks merit and is accordingly dismissed.

“That this suit be and is hereby dismissed, with cost in the sum of N500, 000.00, awarded in favour of the defendants and against the claimant.”

EducationWAEC Introduces Resit Exams For Candidates by Bobloco(op): 6:10am On Jan 06, 2025
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a new initiative, which will allow students to resit their WASSCE papers as early as January and February 2025.

This marks a significant shift from the previous system, where candidates had to wait for the next private exam cycle.

The Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, John Kapi, disclosed this while speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show in Ghana on Tuesday, December 31st.

He explained that the new programme, referred to as WASSCE PC1, provides a faster route for students to improve their grades.

Students who access their results now and realise they need to resit one or two papers have until 8th January to register online through our website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés. The exams will take place from 24th January to 15th February 2025,” Mr Kapi stated.

According to him, to aid candidates in their preparations, WAEC plans to expedite the release of chief examiners’ reports, saying, “These reports will provide detailed feedback on where students may have gone wrong and how they can better approach their studies and the examination process.

“We’ve advertised this programme widely through banners, our website, and our results checker platform to ensure that both students and parents are aware,” Mr Kapi added.

He said students whose results have been cancelled are also eligible to sit the WASSCE PC1 exams, provided they have not been banned for some years for malpractice.

“For now, the exams will be conducted in regional capitals due to the limited number of candidates. Prospective participants are urged to complete their registration by the 8th of January to take advantage of this opportunity.”

WAEC, however, expressed optimism that this initiative will allow candidates to quickly improve their grades and qualify for the next cycle of admissions, avoiding a year-long delay in their academic progress.

My understanding is a bit different but the bottom line is states are no longer going to receive a lot of money from Central government as a matter of course. There will still be money from Central government, but it will be much less than now.

The more you do to attract organisations and people to your state, the more you will have to use to govern it.

Lazy state governors (of which there are plenty all over the country, not just North as some might think) will soon be found out and hopefully turfed out. And if they are not, their citizens can continue to enjoy their suffering.

Dynamic and forward thinking state governments, such as demonstrated by President Tinubu in Lagos state (love him or hate him) will reap a lot of rewards.

CrimeSaudi Arabia Releases Three Nigerian Ladies After 10 Months In Jail Over Drugs by Bobloco(op): 9:03pm On Jan 05, 2025
Saudi Arabia has released three Nigerians who were earlier arrested and prosecuted in the country.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by the Acting-Spokesperson of the Ministry, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the release followed high-level diplomatic engagement between the Nigerian government and Saudi authorities.

The three Nigerians namely: Hadiza Abba, Fatima Malah and Fatima Gamboi were arrested for alleged possession of substance suspected to be cocaine while on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

According to the statement, they were arrested and prosecuted on March 5, 2024 at Prince Mohammad bin Abdul Azeez International Airport Madinah, Saudi Arabia, and released after spending 10 months in detention.

The statement said, “The arrest of the three women was a result of the earlier arrest of two Nigerian nationals who were found in possession of 80 capsules of Cocaine weighing 900.28 gm and 70 capsules of Cocaine weighing 789.5gm, respectively.

“The women were detained by the Saudi authorities on suspicion of being accomplices and abating the trafficking of the banned substance found on the aforementioned arrested Nigerians.

“The Ministry wishes to recall that the trio’s arrest attracted much attention in Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.

Their successful release was achieved after prolonged diplomatic and legal engagements, which culminated in their discharge and acquittal, as well as subsequent handover to the Consulate-General of Nigeria in Jedda.

“The ladies were received by Amb. Muazam.
