By Ayodele Seun Aristotle argued against democracy as the government of the majority ruling in their own interest. In reality that is what democracy depicts in developing country/third world country. Democracy has been conceptualized in different country of the world, in order to suit their social setting and proffer solution to social problems. Country of the world has modern the pattern and system of governance that is best for their contemporary society. Nigeria democracy has been characterized by the hegemony of the major tribes at federal, state and local government level. Nigeria democracy is government by number whereby smaller tribes are not been treated fairly in power sharing and fair representation. Minority is a concept of disadvantageous and been use as a scapegoat in politics. Since the creation of kogi state only one major tribe from kogi east has been producing the state governor which is unfair on the kogi central and west and also in Benue state one major tribe has occupied state governor position.Other states need to imbibe the political culture in Delta state, which as rotated the governorship position among the three senatorial districts ( james Ibori Delta south,Dr emmanuel Uduaghan Delta centrral and now Dr Ifeanyi Okowa Delta north). If there is power sharing at the central government where positions is been zone to different geo-political zone, which is the true spirit of federalism. Power sharing should also be adopted at the state level whereby governorship position should be rotate among the three senatorial districts of the state. If there is equal representative in legislative arms, why can’t also be equal representative in executive arm? Federal character should be adopted at state level and spirit of oneness can be built on fairness and justice. This injustice is characterized in many state in Nigeria (Kogi, Benue, Nasarrawa,Taraba and Kaduna etc.) where a section or one major tribe will hold on to power for long and established is hegemony on the other tribes. State of Assembly that has enacted law for the position of governor and deputy governor to be pensionable should also enact law to make power rotation constitutional in their various states among the senatorial districts. Our democracy should be built within the concept of federal character to stop this marginalization of the minority tribes. http://bnaijatalks..com/2015/05/breaking-tribal-hegemony-in-states.html |

By Reuben Ayodele President Goodluck Jonathan, seem to have discover his sacking form in the tail end of his transformational administration. Just like a striker, in a game of football, who did not score a single goal throughout the season, but having form to score a hatrick during the last football match of the season, such a player will still be regarded as a flop. Am very sure, If President Jonathan have heed the calls of Nigerians that some of his ministers, petroleum minister Daziani Allison Madueke, Interior minister Abba Moro , Senior special assistant on public affairs Doyin Okupe and all the service chiefs be fired, maybe he would have won the heart of must Nigerians that opt for change instead. The first casualty of this recent transformation sacking is retired General Martin Luther Agwai The chairman of SURE- P, follow by Suleiman Abba former Inspector General of police and Mr Femi Thomas Chairman National Health Insurance Scheme NHIS and Alhaji Habib Abdullahi Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) Managing Director. I expect more sackings to follow even on the eve of the handing of May 29, 2015. Whichever way you look at it, there is good news for all this last minute appointments. At least they will all be call former this or that, moreover, their picture frame will be hang in their various offices having been the head their respective agencies of government. This scenario applies to acting Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase, Chairman SURE-P Ishaya Akau, SEC Board Chairman Peter Obi ,SEC Chief Executive Munir Gwarzo and NHIS Chairman Olufemi Akingbade and NPA Managing Director Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero. Please President Goodluck Jonathan, I will not mind if you direct Reuben Abati to announce my appointment via his twitter as your new secretary to government of the federation (SGF) on May 28, 2015. http://bnaijatalks..com/2015/05/i-also-want-to-answer-title-former.html |

By Ayodele Seun Karl Marx argued that every human society has been pluralize into two groups, The rich and poor, elites and masses, lord and serf, bourgeoisie and proletariats, have and have not. Marx argued that there will be clash/conflict of interest between the two classes from feudalism where feudal lord and serf will clash to capitalism where the clash will be so intense between bourgeoisie and proletariats that new social order will emerged to socialism and communism where people will get according to his need and give according to his ability. Nigeria political bourgeoisie are in two form; political godfatherism and political entrepreneur. Political godfatherism is prominent, charisma, extravagantly generous and influential people who command a lot of respect in their community/state and among their peers. They always kept their door/gate open for visitors with the sole aim of controlling people in the corridor of power and public fund. People like Chief Chris Uba, Jim Nwobodo, Chief Lamidi Adedibu, Dr Olusola Saraki, Sen. Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Atiku Abubakar etc. While Political Entrepreneur are wealthy, professionals, and business moguls who invest their resources on a political candidates for reward of been given political appointment and award of contract jobs. The like of Abdulrasheed Maina, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola and Jide Omokore etc. Nigeria political bourgeoisie has combine the both qualities of political entrepreneur and god fatherism but as our democracy is growing our political bourgeoisie is now evolving toward political entrepreneur and godfatherism will soon become the things of the past. The political bourgeoisie of Nigeria has become so prominent in this dispensation (Nigeria Fourth Republic ).It all started with our military Genarals of Abdulsalam Abubakar who released General Olusegun Obasanjo from prison and supported by General Ibrahim Babagida and General T.Y Danjuma that projected and sponsored General Olusegun Obasanjo to emerged Nigeria president-elect on 27 February 1999,on the plat form of People’s Democratic Party (PDP),who defeated Olu Falae, who was running on a joint Alliance for Democracy-All People’s Party ticket. But Chief Olusegun Obasanjo easily harmonizes the interest of his political bourgeoisie and uses his military seniority to put them on check. The story is differ at the state level where godfathers clash with their anointed son in Anambra,Oyo,Kwara, Plateau and Enugu. The clash was intense then in Anambra state between Governor Chris Ngige and His godfather chris Uba to the extent that government house was burnt and the sitting Governor was kidnaped by security operation. The story was not palatable in Oyo state where a sitting Governor then Rashidi Ladoja was barred from passing the route around his godfather house (chief Lamidi Adedibu), who later instigated Oyo state House of Assembly that eventually impeached Governor Rashidi Ladoja on January 2006, but reinstated in December 2006. And in kwara state, Governor mohammed Lawal clash with his godfather chief Olusola Saraki.governor Lawal almost enthrone another kingship of oba of Ilorin in order to sideline Emir of Ilorin who is loyal to chief Olusola Saraki and the second republic senate leader defect from All Peoples Party (APP) to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under plat form by which his son Dr bukola Saraki contested gubernatorial election in 2003 and defeated the incumbent Governor Mohammed Lawal. The impact of political godfatherism is always negatively felt at the state and local government level where they do dry state milk and even share from state fund (Allocation from federal government) on monthly basis. Some of them go to the extent of forcing the Governor/Chairman to swear on an oath never to betray them from sharing national cake. They factually do nominate all the state commissioners and other political appointee (He who pays the piper dictates the tune). Since the announcement of General Muhammadu buhari, as the winner of the march 28, 2015 presidential election, one of the greatest challenges ahead of him is how to harmonize the hegemony of the political bourgeoisie around him (Sen. Ahmed Tinubu, Sen Bukola Saraki, Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, Rochas Okorochas, and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo etc.) for the betterment of all Nigerians. People’s General need to learn from President Goodluck Jonathan who allows cabal to ruin his transformation administration. Time will tell if General Muhammadu Buhari will not allow these political bourgeoisies to ruin his administration. http://bnaijatalks..com/2015/04/hegemony-of-nigeria-political_29.html |
By Reuben Ayodele Recent political development in Nigeria, as shown that the seat of a deputy governor is like sitting on a keg of gun powder. Deputy Governors have become endangered species in every state in Nigeria. If this situation do not change a time will come when their will be adverts placement on the position and criteria to have before an individual can aspire to be a Deputy Governor in Nigeria. Some of the qualification you have to possess including the followings: 1. You must not be below 65years 2. You must not have a poultry farm in government house 3. You must greet her Excellency the first lady first or possible buy her wigs ,shoes and fashion accessories weekly. 4. You must decamp with me to a new political party whenever there is political crisis. 5. You must not visit Abuja except on my order 6. You will not sign or approved any money beyond #300,000 7. If you are a man, your wife must be doing my house chore for my wife, if the deputy governor is a woman, your husband must be one of my domestic aid. 8. You must smile and laugh when I laugh. If you are capable of fulfilling all this criteria I will make you my deputy governor and a likely successor. All these requirements are not exaggeration but what is the real requirement in Nigeria today before you can be seen as a loyal deputy governor. I cannot remember which state in Nigeria that as not have it fair share of governor versus deputy governor political conflict from Enugu,Bauchi,Imo,Ebonyi,Adamawa,Taraba,Ekiti,Zamfara,Anambra,Oyo, Plateau, Sokoto, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and just this week Ondo state Governor Mimiko and his Deputy Governor Olanusi who was impeached by the kangaroo assembly members, who as usual their pocket have been serviced by millions of State fund. Except in few cases through divine intervention that a Deputy succeeds his boss. A case in point is after the death of sir Patrick Yakowa (Kaduna state) in which Ramalan Yero succeded him and Mamman Ali was succeeded by Ibrahim Geidan,Also the case of president Jonathan emergence as of Bayelsa and later as president of Nigeria after the demise of late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua.Likewise Bala Ngalairi Adamawa and Taraba State present acting Governor. However, despite the political trivial of Deputy governors, a few others have been able to take over from their bosses, An example is Mamuhd Ahmed Shinkafi ,who Senator Ahmed Yerima handed over power to, although the marriage was short lived by political differences, another example is Kano state Governor Rabiu Musa kwankwaso who will hand over to his Deputy Umar Ganduje. The Scenario in Ebonyi State is different because the Governor and Deputy governor belong to different political camp. The Nigeria constitution, must be review to make the position of a Deputy governor or Vice president institutional base, other than been seen as a spare part. Section 187 of the 1999 constitution must be strictly adhere to. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will have an encyclopedia to his name, because he has a full dose of how a Vice President should not be treated in the hand of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. But it high time our political office holders know that political power is not forever, one day you will also become a former president, Governor, Senator etc. what will history say about you? There is God oooo http://bnaijatalks..com/2015/04/who-will-be-my-spare-tyre-deputy.html |

By Reuben Ayodele Nigeria politicians and their new found love of congratulating their fellow contestant before the official announcement of result by INEC.We should not be carried away by this act, in all sincerity without been irrational, I find it very funny. It’s the reincarnation of the unsportmanship attitude of Chelsea football club boss Jose Mourinho. Who occasional congratulate his opposing coach when a match is still few moment from ending, He usually walk down the tunnel. If to mourinho this is psychological, I bet it with Nigeria politicians it is” please no carry me go EFCC after May 29” This sort of mentality is not sportsmanship, sportsmanship is supposed to come into play after the final whistle of a match. We have seen instances where the last kick of the ball decided a football match. This attitude is what is been played out from candidates and most incumbent Governors of the self-acclaimed largest party in Africa PDP from President Goodluck Jonathan to Kaduna State Governor Ramalan Yero to Kebbi State Governor Saidu Dankingari,Benue State Governor Suswan and Tersor and Muazu Babangida and his anointed son Umar Nasko of Niger state. The underlying truth is that this throwing in the towel of defeat before results is announced are mainly for selfish reason. We should not be deceived most of them are looking for save landing from their successors. Time will tell if all these antics will work. http://bnaijatalks..com/2015/04/the-mourinho-in-nigeria-politicians.html |
By Ayodele Seun Sociologists argued that functionality of the social system in any human society depend on the functional connectivity of the entire system (economic, political, education, religion etc.). But dyfunctionalism of one social institution will also affect the entire system due to interconnectivity and interrelationship of the social system. Nigerians has felt the dyfunctionalism of political system on the entire social order and value in our society. Education system is badly affected to the level that we can’t boast of functional and qualitative education in Nigeria. More than 80% of our public schools are in comatose state in terms of structures, lack of facility, unavailability of instructional materials, poor welfare of teachers and almost empty laboratories. Nigeria public higher institutions had been close down severally due to lack of welfare of the lecturers and study facilities in our schools. Many states in Nigeria own teachers up to 5months salaries. Our leaders send their children abroad to study in prestigious university but neglect our schools that need serious reform both in structures and system. In spite of this some of these state offer students scholarship to study abroad yet their state own university is at the mercy of collapse which is a testament that they are fully aware of the problems confronting our state of education. Nigeria polytechnic and monotechnic went on strike for almost a year, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) has accuses federal government of abandoning polytechnic education. Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has been synonymous to strike in Nigeria all because of neglect of our leaders both at federal and state government; Education is on concurrent list which is the responsibility of both federal and state government to make our education functional and qualitative. The new Administration of people’s General should start genuine change in our education sector, president-elect should allocate 27% of our budget to education sector and more emphasis should be place on welfare, training and retraining of teachers because they are the super structure that will drive the infrastructures of the schools. Free education is attainable at primary and post primary level but is unsustainable at higher education level. Nigeria government should stop selling bad product for Nigerians cheaper because Nigerians end up losing for buying the bad product, which testify to Nigeria graduates not unemployable argument. Abraham lincoln says “if you say education is expensive try ignorance”. Scholarship should be given more to indigent students to alleviate the less privilege. Education is the only legacy that will propel Nigeria for greater future and put army of super structures on ground to maintain and sustain our infrastructures. Nigeria president-elect General Muhammadu Buhari, should make education his first priority and effect positive change in education sector if he really want to leave a legacy that even generation unborn will remember him for. Like the yorubas in all generation do proud of Chief Obafemi Awolowo for his feet of making Yoruba people the most educated in Nigeria through his education policy in old western region of Nigeria. http://bnaijatalks..com/2015/04/education-dyfunctionalism-in-nigeria.html |
