Politics / Who Will Join Dino In Protest by boboje: 10:45am On May 17, 2016
Ever since the announcement of removal of petroleum subsidy by the Federal Government from ₦86.50 to ₦145, Nigerians from all spheres of life including the NLC, TUC and Civil Societies have all been making know their opinions. This is the latest policy change of the APC led Federal government.
The beauty of democracy is that every citizen has the right to freedom of expression and speak. But in the midst of all these hullabaloo one man whose call to protest has not please most people is Senator Dino Malaye. His senator representing Kogi west in the Senate. His man that has always swim and dine with controversies at any given time.
Dino has is popularly call, always work on the gullibility of Nigerians. But of recent Nigerian youths seem to have realized they were been scam by this man for hs own selfish interest.
Nigerian youths remembered in 2006 it was this same Dino through his thuggery hormone brought the then 6th Assembly under the then Speaker Hon. Dimeji Bankole to be known as house of dishourable members, which the clips is still very much available in media houses.
Senator Dino we reliably gathered always feels out with his pay masters when the sharing formula is on more favourable.
We not forget in a hurry how during the past administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan. It was senator Dino melaye the chief anti-corruption crusader who came to prominence by organizing youth in the scorching sun of Abuja to protest against corruption and against the removal of petroleum subsidy. Too many Nigerians then Hon. Dino was the kind of leader the youths look unto for direction, no wonder he won the heart of APC national leadership that he was coronated the party candidate. He also rides on this chameleon strategy to defeat senator Smart Adeyemi of the PDP in the last election.
Basking on the euphoria on been a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria . Senator Dino began to show his constituent and Nigerians his real self, that is not a commoner as he aws mistaken to be, he no longer share the pain of the masses he claimed to represent. The one time anti-corruption crusader now has an insatiable taste for extravagant life style showcasing his wealth to the people he claimed to represent, not raising any motion that will affect the life of the masses but turning himself into the official attack dog of the senate president Sen. Bukola Saraki, for Dino constituency allowances is for personal use.
We now know that selfish interest is what influences his allegiance at every giving time not national interest as we were made to believe in the past.
Admitted the present policy of removal of PMS subsidy at this present time without considering the hardship Nigerians are facing daily as a result of bad state of the economy. Notwithstanding we are not prepare to join your protest senator Dino at the expiration of your seven days ultimatum to the federal government.
We know who is beaten the drum you are dancing to, protest with your family and your material possessions. Wishing you a peaceful and violence free protest

Politics / Oïl Subsidy Removal: Is The Timing Right? by boboje: 10:41am On May 13, 2016
Nigeria Minister of state for Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Ibe Kachikwu announced the removal of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol on Wednesday 11, 2016. Which now sell for ₦145 Per Litre.
The last administration of President Goodluck Jonathan wanted to remove oil subsidy and made the announcement on January 1, 2012 which was greeted with nationwide mass protest majorly in Abuja, Kano and Lagos state which prompt House of Representative to passed resolution for Federal Government to revert the decision and after more pressure from Labour Unions and Civil Societies the Federal Government decided to partially removed it by increase the Oil price from ₦67 per litre to ₦96 per litre.
But what are the real causes for removal of oil subsidy? Nigeria Government has been paying over $8 billion for oil subsidy yearly and this are been characterized by corruption. Oil subsidy in Nigeria has become a fraud and the stakeholders involves has been using this to defraud the country of her resources. Oil marketers has been receiving subsidy on the premium motor spirit (fuel) which they never supply or bring into the country and even on the one they supply and been paid subsidy on they end up diverting the product to black market or even taking it to another country to sell and sabotaging the effort of Nigeria government.
Nigeria is one of the major producer of crude oil in the world but the country has failed to bring in investors to build refineries and produce enough of this products for the their citizens to consume. The three refineries in the country are producing below their capacity and Nigeria need to import refined oil products. Crude oil is Nigeria major revenue and Crude Oil price has fall at international market below $40 per barrel and Nigeria government can’t afford to pay oil subsidy any more on the fuel Nigerians are not consuming or fuel that was only supply on paper.
The present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari reduce the oil price from ₦87 per litre to ₦86.5 per litre which was only enjoy in major cities in Nigeria (Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt) but fuel in been sold at exorbitant price in other part of the country ranging from ₦150-₦300 per litre. The question is this, is Nigerians really benefitting from oil subsidy? Crude Oil can no longer sustain the economy of Nigeria and Nigeria government as matter of urgency needs to diversify her economy to raise her revenue base. The money paying on subsidy can be used for development project and building of social amenities.
Nigerians are will really benefitting from oil subsidy? This are some of the sacrifice we must make has a Nigerian. We soon get over the hardship of the oil subsidy removal. Oil marketing and competition will stabilize the price of oil very soon is matter of time and strongly belief there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Politics / 2015 Budget Movement In A Barber‘s Chair by boboje: 11:54am On Jul 12, 2015
BY REUBEN AYODELE
Budget is a yearly ritual that the executive arm of government makes yearly and passes to the national assembly for approval. In the case of states, governors send it to the state houses of assembly for approval and these budget are then send back to the president for accent in case of state governors accent to it ,making it the appropriation law for the year under review.
But the obvious facts about these budget and appropriation law are that the executive arm of government never follows its implementation to the later. In some cases implementation is below 45%.The type of budget system Nigeria operated is outdated and unrealistic ,a budget which lay more emphasis on recurrent and overhead cost by government rather than on capital expenditure. No country developed by allowing it operational budget to be more on recurrent expenditure.
A review, of the 2015 budget of Nigeria shows that the sum of N4,493,363,957,158(four trillion four hundred and ninety three billion three hundred and sixty three million nine hundred and fifty seven thousand one hundred and fifty eight naira only). Was pass as the 2015 budget of the federal republic of Nigeria, out of this amount N2,607,132,491,708(two trillion six hundred and seven billion one hundred and thirty two million four hundred and ninety one thousand seven hundred and eight naira only), is for recurrent expenditure. N953,620,000,000(nine hundred and fifty three billion six hundred and twenty million naira) is for debt services while capital expenditure is a meager N556,995,465,449,00(five hundred and fifty six billion nine hundred and ninety five million four hundred and sixty five thousand four hundred and forty nine naira only). The percentage breakdown of the 2015 budget shows that recurrent expenditure is 58.02%,debt services 21.22%, statutory transfer 8.36%, capital expenditure 12.40%,national assembly 8.36% of the Nigeria’s budget accruing to it through the recurrent expenditures.
How can the country grow its economy, overcome the binding constraints on growth to mobilize the necessary indexes to attain development, if we merely pay salaries and allowances and do not invest in capital expenditure? Recurrent expenditures are ballooning at the expense of capital expenditure. The change administration of president Muhammadu Buhari most strive to reduce this ugly trend if it is serious about moving Nigeria towards industrialization.
Nigeria cannot continue in this barber’s chair movement, were we are spending more money to service debt than we are currently investing in the development of our country. We borrow money to fund recurrent expenditure, which at most is used in paying salaries, allowances and overhead cost of running government. These situation is worrisome and if not properly nick in the bud may lead to collapse of government .The situation were the federal government fund more than 601 ministry, department and agencies (MDA) and also having 144 foreign mission is unacceptable . Why will the country still be running mission in Somalia, Iraq and Libya? This monumental waste is unnecessary.
The 8th national assembly must cut down cost of governance, the situation were the national assembly currently enjoy 8.36% of our national budget is irresponsible. A breakdown of senators salary and allowances shows that the senate president has a total annual basic salary of N2,484,242.50 and annual allowance of N6,210,606.25, making the total annual salary of N8,694,848.75 which brings the monthly salary to about N724,570.75 in an addition, he collects 250% of his annual salary as constituency allowance. However, his vehicles and maintenance of the vehicles are provided by the federal government. Senators receives basic salary of N2,026,400.00, they receives 75% of annual salary as allowance for vehicles and maintenance and another 75% of their salary for domestic staff,30%,for entertainment and 250% as as constituency allowance.
All senators who just concluded their tenure in the 7th national assembly all received certain percentages of their annual salary as gratuity. The 2015 budget as it is presently needs to be discarded or restructure. Because it cannot address the real change Nigerians desires. The administration of president Muhammadu Buhari should consider new sources of revenue generation to the treasury, aside this current monolithic economy which is solely dependent on oil and gas .The administration of change should stop this theft called petroleum subsidy by oil marketers which is an avenue use in milking the economy. Government at all levels should stop borrowing money to finance recurrent expenditures.
This administration should call out economic summit whereby each state will make presentation on the real state of it economy with a view of drawing out a master plan, which will project Nigeria economy towards industrialization. Government should cut down on the number of agencies and commissions which it’s currently operate and fund especially those who have duplication of duties.

Politics / State Governors And The Politics Of Salary Arrears by boboje: 9:26am On Jun 15, 2015
BY OJIGBE SOLOMON

The fact that the second tier government otherwise known as the state government owes its workers is no longer news. This is given that several states across the Nigerian state are enmeshed in these stupendous acts of perjury. As at last count states like Osun,Benue,Plateau ,Abia ,Oyo,Rivers and Cross river owe their workforce some between the tune of 2-7 months as the case maybe. These has succeeded in institutionalizing the culture of perjury among workers which does not speak well of our fledging economy.
What is however, most alarming on these issue is that the suppose states governors owing workers still lives in affluence and exhibit financial recklessness at its peak. Some if not all in all states of the federation, have by act of omission or commission chosen to be docile/redundant. They let the abundant mineral resources in their respective state lay low and untapped and would rather buy into the ideal of turning themselves into an “alamajiri “of some sort to the federal government by coming to Abuja every month cap in hand with their begging bowl the commissioners of finance of their respective state to collect their share from the federation account. These do not help productivity in state.
Similarly the state governors largely prefer to preoccupy themselves with political patronizes: praise singers, bootlickers alike, expanding Huge resources on them probably to garner unnecessary political clout as against footing salaries allowances of civil servant in their state .
Other prime factors that can be adduced for these negative political culture ranges from gross corruption particularly in the oil and gas sector ,mono economy as well as over dependence on the federal government ,fall in the price of oil in the international market, ineffective internally generated revenue (IGR) mechanism, some fraught by fraud were it exist ;weak legislature, poor management of treasury ,self-aggrandizement among several others.
Persistence of these slowly of these malaise slowly but steady translate into decimated civil service populated by paupers some so chronic to the extent that they go begging .The decimation of the service further impede on staff productivity because at this stage monetization is at its lowest ebb. It further engenders inequality in development across the states of the federation particularly among the indebted state.
Invariably strike action/labour dispute, grudges to work and duty becomes the hallmark of state captured in these categories. To get out of this anguish state governors must see issues bordering on staff salaries and general welfare of its workforce as a priority and must be so treated. Similarly, state should be encouraged to look inward, invest in area of comparative strength may be based on their physical environment or mineral deposit and boost their economy in lieu.
All leakages within the value chain of governance that would aid and abet corruption must be blocked to free in more cash into government coffers while cubing the excess of political patronage to mitigate wastage. Institutionalization of a robust IGR system to argument federal allocation may also productive as these will enhance that cash are adequately mopped up within the system to aid the running of derivable from government.
Legislature as an arm of government must be strengthening across the states so as to be strategically positioned to carryout effective over sight on the executives. These way silent questions can be asked about the running of government business and elicit appropriates answers where tenable. Prudent management of state treasury and altruistic disposition by the governors remain a worthy panacea to get out of these jam.
It is hoped that if these measures are religiously adhere to the tendency of state government turning themselves to an “almagiris” would be checkmated, these indeed portrays a good omen for our economy.

Politics / UNEMPLOYMENT: The Tape Root Of Nigeria Social Problem by boboje: 6:44am On Jun 08, 2015
BY AYODELE SEUN
Sociologists argued that state of joblessness is real cause of social problem in the society. “An idle hand is the devil workshop”. Nigeria faces a lot of social vices today due to high rate of unemployment. E.g. insecurity, poverty, prostitution, arm robbery, kidnaping, cyber-crime and drug addiction etc.
Nigeria government has a matter of urgency must fixed problem of unemployment or else Nigeria will explode with high rate of social vices in the near future. More than 40% of Nigeria youths are unemployed while over 30% are underemployed.
Nigeria president –elect General Muhammadu Buhari must reduce cost of governance by slight down the salaries of elected political leaders and political appointee at all level (federal, states and local government).Oronsaye report should be implement to reduce overhead cost.
Ojigbe (2015), The political elites must exert an appreciable level of both political and moral will to formulate and tenaciously implement programmes that will better the lot of the common man. The leaders must get there psyche treated against corruption and greed since myriad of problems posing as imposture against the Nigerian society stem from these deadly monster. In addition, the various anti-corruption crusade spearheaded by the various anti-graft agencies: EFCC, ICPC, code of conduct bureau etc. should be more proactive, swift and with utmost veracity to catch up with corrupt public officials.
Secondly, Nigeria government must diversify her economy from monoproduct of petroleum with other productive sectors like Agriculture, sport, tourism, information technology and entertainment.
Agricultures must be improve to production of more cash crop and livestock, re-establishment of Marketing Board, Certain crop should be encourage in the areas they are planted for example Gwari and Tiv people in the middle Belt produce more yam than any part of Nigeria, Lokoja Fish is the best in Nigeria and Ondo people produce more plantain than any other part in Nigeria. Nigeria government must work on using the strength of Nigerians by tapping into the best no how of the people. Nigeria population is blessing and we should utilize the strength of our population and ethnic diversity. We should emulate country like China that is the largest producer of rice and cotton.
Sport sector must be expanding by open more sport activities for Nigeria youths to involve, the best way to get everybody involve is through sport activities. Our sport should not be only about football, sport like swimming need to be encourage among ijaw and ilaje people who are naturally swimmers, table tennis and lawn tennis, basketball, volleyball, handball, judo, boxing, rugby, cricket, badminton they should all be encouraged. State government should build more Sport Academy instead of building stadium and more private bodies should invest in sport sector and help build Nigeria future Champions. Good example is Aruna Quadri who is the Table Tennis World Best, he benefited from Aso-Oju-Oba Table Tennis Championships in Lagos. Nigeria should emulate England that has earned lot revenue from sport. Agriculture and sport only can employ up to 50% of Nigeria youth if is well utilize.
Thirdly, Nigeria economy must be industrialized. Textiles industries must be revitalized, Ajaokuta iron and steel industry must be working, our refinery must be working, private investors must be encourage to come and invest in our economy through provision of social amenities; especially power and energy. Fruits Juice factory should be established in a state like Benue that produce fruits in abundance.
Fourthly, Nigeria government should encourage graduates of higher institution to established small and medium scale businesses through provision of startup capital, entrepreneur training and skill acquisition. NYSC Corp members should be given N500,000 each after service to establish their own business.
Nigeria government must revive and established more Technical Secondary School across the country, entrepreneur and skill acquisition should be introduced into secondary school curriculum.
Finally, Nigeria pension system must be reform. Retiree of grade level of Directors upward that have received millions of naira as salaries for good 35years and handsome gratuity should be made unpension able; our resources must be redistributed to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. For instance a retiree of director grade that is earning N350,000 monthly which is enough to pay five fresh graduates salaries. Politics is not a profession; Nigerians politicians should stop forcing our legislature into enacting law of making various political office holders pensionable.
The new administration of President Muhammadu Buhari must remember that one of the undoing of PDP led administration is unemployment and the best gift APC government can give Nigerians is create job opportunities for Nigeria unemployed youths in all sectors of the economy.

Politics / Babatunde Fashola: Nigeria Fct Minister In Waiting by boboje: 9:51am On Jun 04, 2015
BY AYODELE SEUN
In 1975 an official decision was taken by the then Federal Military Government of Nigeria to set up a committee under the leadership of Justice Akinola Aguda to examine the suitable of the dual role of Lagos as a state and Federal Capital. The Government under General Murtala Mohammed accepted the recommendation in the committee’s report that the capital city of Nigeria be relocated to a new Federal Capital Territory in the geographic Centre of the country, at Abuja. The acceptance of the committee’s recommendation led to the enactment of degree NO.6 of 1976 leading to the establishment of a new Federal Capital.
Nigeria Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) since its establishment has been administered by the following ministers:
• Mobolaji Adeogun Ondo state 1976-1979
• John Jatau Plateau state 1979-1982
• Iro Abubakar Katsina state 1982-1983
• Haliru Dantoro Niger state 1983-1985
• Mamman Vatsa Niger state 1984-1985
• Hamza Abdullahi Jigawa state 1986-1989
• Gado Nasko Niger state 1989-1993
• Jeremiah Useni Plateau state 1993-1998
• Mamman Kontagora Niger state 1998-1999
• Ibrahim Bunu Borno state 1999-2001
• Abba Gana Borno state 2001-2003
• Nasiru El-Rufai Kaduna state 2003-2007
• Aliyu Modibo Gombe state 2007-2008
• Adamu Aliero Kebbi state 2008-2010
• Bala Mohammad Bauchi state 2010-2015
Most of these ministers recorded achievement in developing, structures and administering of FCT. The brief period when Kontagora was in charge of FCT saw a boom in construction of housing and infrastructure. The now Governor of Kaduna State Mallam. Nasiru El-Rufai recorded landslide success in the area of structures and restructures of FCT, He was first minister of FCT that started implementing FCT master plan.EL-Rufai within 4-year turn Abuja to envy of other city, there is massive construction of roads network, construction of estates and restructures of FCT to meet the master plan. The FCT (Abuja) of today is built by Mallam.El-Rufai administration.
The infrastructures of the FCT has been built by past FCT ministers including Sen.Bala Mohammad who implemented many project at the tail end of his administration, ranging from estate construction and traffic light.
Nevertheless, FCT still faces with a lot of challenges ranging from social problems and unemployment. FCT Youths are highly involves in hard drugs consumption ,prostitution is common job among Abuja babes, black market and with Nigeria political bourgeoisie with their excessive accumulation of wealth kept a lot of empty houses in Maitama and Wuse, they are neither residential nor business building. Most of the hotels in Abuja are not actually meant for business but hidden property for corrupt public officials. Most of the FCT agencies are not performing their statutory obligation but rather extorting money from Abuja residence.Eg Abuja Environmental Protection Board.
President Muhammadu Buhari needs best hand to administer FCT, a capable hand who can turn Abuja around and make it save heaven for all Nigerian and envy of the world. Abuja must be administer by someone who can curb menace of social problems and create jobs for the youths through establishment of viable agencies and boards, who can make Abuja economic viable, generate revenue and redistribute income.F CT minister should be who can enterprise, re-orientate and rebuild the superstructure of FCT to maintain and sustain the infrastructures.
President Muhammadu Buhari most select the best cabinet members regardless of region, religion and tribal line by appointing former Governor of Lagos state Babatunde Fashola FCT minnster. Lagos state is a testament to his administrative achievement and his the best candidate for the position of FCT minister. Fashola will not only curb social problems in FCT but will also generate income and create job for the youths.
How I will wish “EKO ONI BAJE O” (Lagos will not spoil) will soon turn to “Abuja ONI BAJE O” (Abuja will not spoil).

Politics / The Mourinho In Nigeria Politicians by boboje: 10:44pm On May 21, 2015
By Reuben Ayodele
Nigeria politicians and their new found love of congratulating their fellow contestant before the official announcement of result by INEC.We should not be carried away by this act, in all sincerity without been irrational, I find it very funny.
It’s the reincarnation of the unsportmanship attitude of Chelsea football club boss Jose Mourinho. Who occasional congratulate his opposing coach when a match is still few moment from ending, He usually walk down the tunnel, in order to play a psychological game on the opposing coach. If to Jose mourinho this is psychological, I bet it with Nigeria politicians it is” please no carry me go EFCC or ICPC though probing after May 29”.
This sort of mentality is not sportsmanship, sportsmanship is supposed to come into play after the final whistle of a match. We have seen instances where the last kick of the ball decided a football match.
This attitude is what is been played out from candidates and most incumbent Governors of the self-acclaimed largest party in Africa PDP from President Goodluck Jonathan who congratulated General Muhammadu Buhari before the official announcement of the winner the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.This humble gesture endear the president to Nigerians, because this the first time an incumbent president will lose reelection bid in Nigeria. Some state governors of PDP who lost also borrowed a cue from President Goodluck Jonathan. Governors who imbibe theses altitude are Kaduna State Governor Ramalan Yero who Congratulated Nasir El Rufai, to Kebbi State Governor Saidu Dankingari who congratulated Senator Atiku Bagudu, to Benue State Governor Suswan and Tersor who congratulated Samuel Ortom and Muazu Babangida and his anointed son Umar Nasko of Niger state, were not left out. They congratulated the APC Governor –elect Abubakar Sani Bello.
The underlying truth is that this throwing in the towel of defeat before results is announced are mainly for selfish reason. We should not be deceived most of the politicians are looking for save landing from their successors. Time will tell if all these antics will work. It’s a lesson to our politicians that power reside with the people, it’s no more business as usual because if you do not perform when given the chance to govern, the people power will key you out of government house.

Politics / General Buhari And New Political Adc’s(dogari) by boboje: 7:31am On May 19, 2015

Ever since the announcement of General Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the march 28, 2015 presidential election, we have been awaken to see all manners of professional political jobbers and psychopaths around the General. I bet some have refused to go home since the general was announced as Nigeria president in waiting. At photo shots, we see how politicians scramble to take photograph with the president elect, just like primary school children on excursion would behave at the sight of seeing an aero plane live. Some of these faces have now become turn themselves to the president elect unofficial security aids
They now see the president more than his beloved wife Aisha Buhari, I guess some now watching over the general.General Buhari should be aware this political hawks only contributed one vote to his victory, that is if they at all they even vote. Because I trust Nigerians politicians they do not lay their egg in one basket, most of them are like bats that can fly and also walk like rat when the need arises. Like every other Nigerians. They cannot claim to love you more than we Nigerians who passionately drive the wind of change all over the nooks and crannies of this country.
Am not against people paying respect, felicitating and paying homage to the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari. After all success they say have many children. The business of governance is far more serious than mere political showmanship. Time for politics is over; they should allow you concentrate on how to solve the myriads of problem you will inherit. But the altitude nowadays been display is worrisome the countless adverts placement is just unnecessary the money should be used to provide amenities to communities .The president- elect should not be deceived by this new set of unofficial ADC dogaris, they are mainly looking for how to continue been in the corridor of power, As a friend of mine will called it “They are ulcer patient” who cannot stay without food. General Buhari you have a name to protect, sentiment aside the whole world is watching, Because Nigerians want their life to improve in all spheres under your change administration.
The peoples general Muhammadu Buhari, Trust Nigerians we will not mind to retire you to Daura like Goodluck Jonathan, who allow cabals and sycophants to run his transformation administration. Because they feed the president with wrong information, making the president to be far away from Nigerians.
Am optimistic going by your antecedent that you will surprise this set of people, because Nigerians are behind you to effect genuine change in governance. We believe this should be the government of the ordinary man, pardon their political miscalculations but their economic loot must be recovered, regardless of their political affiliation

Sports / Manchester United V Arsenal: Wenger Seeks To Secure Group-stage Spot by boboje: 6:27pm On May 15, 2015
Arsene Wenger has stressed the importance of avoiding a UEFA Champions League play-off spot as Arsenal visit Manchester United in the Premier League.
Wenger's men travel to Old Trafford on Sunday knowing that a first away league win at United since 2006 will see them secure a top-three finish ahead of Louis van Gaal's side.
Arsenal, who will take heart from triumphing 2-1 at United in the FA Cup in March, have contested a play-off in seven of their last nine Champions League campaigns and squeaked through 1-0 on aggregate against Besiktas at the start of 2014-15.
Victory over United would see them seal direct qualification for the group stages.
And Wenger said: "It's very important for your season preparations to not have that kind of stress [about the Champions League qualifier] over your head from the first day you start again - it's vital.
"The consequences are always dramatic if you don't qualify.
"What is even more important now is that the international competitions force you most of the time to start the new season without your players.
"You cannot give them a long enough rest when they have played international games. You know that in England we have no break in the winter. That's sometimes difficult to deal with."
Arsenal are two points clear and have a game in hand on fourth-placed United, who overcame Crystal Palace 2-1 last weekend.
Only a huge swing in goal difference can see United miss out on the top four due to their six-point advantage over Liverpool with two games left and Van Gaal's men appear well set to challenge for the title next season following the signing of striker Memphis Depay last week.
Earlier this week, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward stated he was satisfied with United's season and expects more progress in 2015-16.
Van Gaal said: "I and the board said the goal was to get in the first four positions and we have reached that two games before the end of the season, it's not bad I think.
"But it's also dependable on how we can make a balance in our selection. It's not good that I have had to change positions of players because players are injured."
United have more fitness concerns ahead of the game, with captain Wayne Rooney failing to recover from a dead leg sustained against Palace, while Luke Shaw is also ruled out.
Robin van Persie is fit to feature, though, as the Dutchman has shaken off a virus in time to face his former club, while Angel di Maria and Marcos Rojo have both been passed fit.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are still without former United striker Danny Welbeck (knee), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mathieu Debuchy (both hamstring), but Aaron Ramsey (knock) should play.

Sports / Real Madrid 1-1 Juventus (agg 2-3)_ Alvaro Morata Cancels Out Cristiano Ronaldo by boboje: 6:43am On May 14, 2015
Real Madrid 1-1 Juventus (agg 2-3)_ Alvaro Morata cancels out Cristiano Ronaldo penalty to haunt former club.
Local boy makes good. Not that they will be celebrating it in Madrid. Alvaro Morata didn’t celebrate his moment of glory, either. Maybe he wants to come back here and live one day.
Morata was the one they let go. The kid from the youth team who couldn’t quite cut it among the ranks of the beautiful people. He got as far as last year’s Champions League final, playing 10 minutes as a substitute for Karim Benzema, but no further. Real Madrid sold him to Juventus in the summer — and he returned to scold them in the most hurtful way possible. He knocked them out of the Champions League. At their place; 33 minutes short of the final.
There will be no el clasico in Berlin. Barcelona await but Juventus were worthy winners over two legs. They got a vital victory at home, and a vital goal away. Real Madrid are left ruing mistakes — some on the night, such as the chances missed by Gareth Bale, others in the planning department, such as not addressing the decline of goalkeeper Iker Casillas sooner. He had two chances to stop the equalising goal and failed both times.
The first mistake was punching out a high ball when he could, perhaps, have gathered. From there it was recycled, pumped in and headed across goal by Paul Pogba, putting in a heroic shift, half-fit and tiring, on his return from injury. He rose above Sergio Ramos, and the loose ball fell to Morata.
Scorer of Juve’s first in the home leg, here was an even bigger opportunity for retribution — and it is fair to say he rose to the occasion. Chesting the ball down, he struck his shot into the turf, skidding up and over Casillas, who got something on it but not enough. There was power in the shot but it was straight at him really.
One imagines David de Gea would have fancied his chances; Hugo Lloris, too. Morata did the respectful non-celebration — although how about respecting the folks who have travelled from Turin — and his team-mates clung to their draw.
What should have been a historic occasion for Madrid ended in crushing disappointment. Champions of Europe last season, they are still living off that success. Their only triumphs this season have been spin-offs from the last — the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. That doesn’t keep managers in employment around these parts.
Before the game, the fans unfurled a reminder of a glorious past: a giant banner depicting the hero of those early European Cup triumphs, Alfredo di Stefano. Maybe one day they will do the same for Cristiano Ronaldo. It was Di Stefano’s record he equalled, with his 307th goal for the club, scored from the penalty spot to give Madrid a first-half lead.
James Rodriguez’s fall looked soft — and his case wasn’t helped by the fact he was booked for diving soon after — but there was a definite foul by Giorgio Chiellini and referee Jonas Eriksson was right to point to the spot. Ronaldo stepped up, took his usual sideways step and found the back of the net. He now has 10 goals in Champions League semi-finals, twice as many as the next highest scorer. Records like that are the reason they love him here.
Yet if that confidence was the best of Ronaldo, the final whistle brought the worst. He flounced from the field, leaving behind 10 desolate team-mates, as if he somehow felt the hurt of defeat more keenly. It was nonsense, of course. Ronaldo (below) pretty much disappeared in the final 30 minutes of the game when the best of Madrid’s chances fell to Bale. Sadly, they may have succeeded only in adding to his woes.
The Champions League final will see Barcelona's Luis Suarez face two old enemies in Patrice Evra — who he was found guilty of racially abusing when playing for Liverpool against Manchester United — and Italy's Giorgio Chiellini, who became the Uruguayan's third 'bite victim' at the last World Cup.
Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett cannot argue that the rest of the team did not pass to his man in the second half. Time and again they picked him out in the desperate search for a winner, time and again he made them rue that choice.
In the first half he was starved of the ball, but did well with what little he did see; in the second he saw plenty, but to no effect. He missed chances — several very good ones — and ran the ball out of play to general derision. There were whistles, and some boos. It is pointless pretending that this season may not bring change.
One cannot imagine coach Carlo Ancelotti remaining, after falling short in La Liga, too, and he is Bale’s biggest champion. The player could have been the hero, but instead gave his critics further ammunition. Had one of his chances gone in, the tie would have gone to extra-time. Had two made it, he would have been the match- winner. But none? He may have to read the local newspapers through his fingers again.
Full credit to Bale for getting into scoring positions. It was more than Ronaldo did at a crucial stage in the game. Frustratingly for all those who feel he has had a raw deal this season, he could not make his presence felt.
Just five minutes after Juventus’s equaliser, he met a Marcelo cross at the near post with a volley which flew wide. Next was a header from a lovely cross by Ronaldo, who took a team-mate’s error well, as usual, and then another header from a corner. He tried a shot from range after that but it truly wasn’t his night. At least two of those should have found the target and by the time he overran a ball cutting into the penalty area, the jeers had begun. He won’t get another chance to win the crowd over before next season and that is one long, hot summer.
Sometimes, looking at what Bale brings to Real Madrid’s attack, it is hard to understand why his team-mates do not use him more. He would certainly be less anxious if he was involved regularly. In the first half only Casillas had fewer touches for Madrid — yet Bale’s brief involvements were invariably positive.
A ferocious tackle in the right-back position, a cracking diagonal pass from deep to set up a chance for Ronaldo, a fierce shot from 30 yards that forced an excellent save from Gianluigi Buffon. It made one wonder what he could achieve if he had more touches than Sergio Ramos at centre half.
Bale got Madrid’s ball rolling after just 37 seconds with a header from a Marcelo cross and the first half was dominated by Madrid attacks, even after Ronaldo’s penalty had given them an aggregate lead on away goals. Karim Benzema had several chances, so too Ronaldo, and Isco struck a lovely chip that travelled just wide.
Yet the sight of Juventus out early in the second half, waiting in formation for Madrid to emerge, spoke of a team that was ready for business. Certainly, coach Massimiliano Allegri is too smart to attempt to play Barcelona at their own game on June 6.
It should be an intriguing encounter for Luis Suarez, too, up against two figures from his notorious past, Patrice Evra and Chiellini. He’s a changed man these days, of course — but considering the shortcomings of Italian club football of late, Juventus are much changed, too.

Sports / Bayern Munich 3-2 Barcelona (agg 3-5) Champions League Semi-final by boboje: 7:34am On May 13, 2015
Thomas Muller collected the ball just outside the area, sized up the angle and curled a quite beautiful shot into the bottom corner. The Allianz Arena roared its approval. And then they remembered: just another three needed. In 15 minutes. Oh dear.
This was an excellent game if you forgot about the scoreline. The real scoreline that is. Not the one on the night. Bayern Munich went ahead, Barcelona rallied and took the lead, Munich equalised, Munich won. End to end stuff.
In reality, nothing happened. Munich started the game needing three goals to take it to extra time, and ended the game needing three to progress. The closest they got was an eight minute spell in the first-half when two goals were needed to force the additional 30 minutes. For 15 minutes of the match they were four short, for 30 minutes they trailed by five. It was one of those illusory matches, like the one that Roman Abramovich fell in love with, between Real Madrid and Manchester United in 2003. That was exhibition stuff, too. End to end, because United were never really close on aggregate.
Equally, Munich’s fans left this game happy. They salvaged some pride, put up a good show – but, in truth, didn’t lay a glove on Barcelona. The early goal only made the Catalans angry. They wrapped the tie up 23 minutes later and, from there, it was academic.
By the time Muller hit his winner the odd fan was already on the way home. It gets busy on the A9 near the stadium and everyone knew where this was heading anyway. Bayern Munich put back in their box at the semi-final stage, once again. This wasn’t as chastening as last year’s Spanish lesson from Real Madrid but only because there was less on it to begin with. Madrid came here shielding a single goal lead, Barcelona had the tie as good as won. ‘One city, one dream,’ read the large display around the ground, but within 30 minutes what had unfolded was a waking nightmare.
The widespread wisdom was that Munich needed an early goal but with hindsight nothing could have been further from the truth. One just after half-time, and it would have been interesting to see how Barcelona would have seen out the last 40 minutes – particularly with Luis Suarez off with a hamstring injury. Yet scoring after seven minutes meant the teams had all the time in the world to trade blows. By scoring early, Munich merely annoyed a superior team.
The problem is, Barcelona are simply better at the football Munich wish to play. A spoiling team might get a lucky break from a set-piece – their one vulnerability – but take them on at football and it only plays to their strengths. So Munich rather sweetly blundered in after seven minutes from a Xabi Alonso corner and paid the price. Medhi Benatia rose unmarked and was allowed a free header which Marc-Andre ter Stegen could not keep out. The Allianz Arena went bananas.
Here it was unfolding before their eyes – the greatest comeback in Champions League history. That dream didn’t last long.
Eight minutes, give or take the odd second. It was a beautiful riposte. Lionel Messi slid a lovely pass into the path of Suarez who burst through a leaden back line and drew Manuel Neuer before squaring the ball for Neymar to tap into an empty net. It would have looked good in meme form on the computer screen. In the flesh it was quite marvellous. There were Munich chances after that, quite a few of them, but in the 30th minute Barcelona settled it.
It was a goal that owed something to Wimbledon, and more to the Royal Ballet. Ter Stegen struck a big kick from his hands for Suarez to chase, which he did with considerably more vim than those around him. Veering wide to the right, he delayed his cross until Neymar had got the space he needed in the middle, and then picked him out, perfectly. Neymar chested the ball down and also waited for the right moment before finishing smartly past Neuer. With Messi he now forms the most prolific Champions League scoring partnership since Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Manchester United in 2001-02.
Could it have been different? Well, yes, had Munich taken every chance presented them. Ter Stegen was excellent in keeping them at bay in the first-half: a Muller header after 19 minutes, a Robert Lewandowski shot after 27. Muller should have done much better in the 29th minute, Lewandowski after 40, both chances set up by Thiago Alcantara.
In the second-half, Lewandowski made amends, of sorts, with arguably the goal of the night. Receiving the ball to feet, he got the jump on Javier Mascherano, switched it from his left to his right and curled it sweetly into the corner of the net.
On many other European occasions in Bavaria, it would have been a goal that told of future glory. Here it was a footnote, a trifle, an irrelevance. Wasted, in many ways. To their credit, Munich kept probing but it was more through memory than belief.
The best thing about having the finest technical footballers in the world is that it allows a team to do outrageous things. Like the moment midway through the first-half when Barcelona had a free-kick 40 yards from Munich’s goal and, instead of sending everyone up and putting it in the mixer, Messi side-footed a short pass to Suarez who had four opponents around him. Stuff like this happens all the time. Players take the initiative; demand the ball no matter the circumstances. Wonderful angles result, players get sucked into a Barcelona black hole, moved out of position so deftly it is as if they are on strings pulled from above.
Pep Guardiola alternated between three and four at the back as he had at the Nou Camp but neither made much difference. Perhaps he should try another number. Eight, or ten. It is pointless trying to play Barcelona as equals and maybe that was Guardiola’s vanity peeking through. He couldn’t bear to try to throw a blanket over his old team, so he went toe to toe.
Even chasing five at one stage, the home fans still sang, waved their flags and bounced on demand, but it had rather a hollow ring. Barcelona sliced through them with surgical precision when it mattered, incisive, insightful, working furiously when the occasion demanded. In the last 12 minutes of the first leg and for a quarter of an hour of the first-half here they simply swept Munich from the board.
It was more than enough, no matter the noise and fury of the locals. If the Spanish strike holds, this could be Barcelona’s last game for 25 days. It’s fair to say they’ll be missed.

Politics / Impeachment: The Bane Of Nigeria Democracy by boboje: 7:12am On May 13, 2015
BY AYODELE SEUN

Nigeria fourth republic that began on May 29, 1999 has witnesses all kinds of political problem and undemocratic processes by the political actors. Nigeria civilian rules from first republic to third republic undergo difference political challenge and crisis. But our democracy is growing and most of these problems has become things of the past with the just concluded general elections in 2015, our democracy has outgrown godfatherism and politics of bloodshed, but one of these problems still remain with us, which is impeachment; impeachment has become political tools in the hand of Nigeria politicians that use it at will against their perceived political enemies.
Impeachment is the act of removing a public official, either elected or appointed, before a tribunal charged with determining the facts of the matter. Impeachment in Nigeria is not peculiar to this fourth republic alone.
Impeachment of note actually started in second republic in Nigeria. When the then Kaduna state Governor, Balarabe Musa elected on the platform of People’s Redemption Party (PRP) clash with the Kaduna state House of Assembly dominated by National Party of Nigerian (NPN). He was unable to form a cabinet since he refused to nominate NPN members and the House of Assembly refused to ratify his nominated commissioners list 3times and he governed close to 2-year without commissioners. Eventually, impeached on 23 June, 1981. Making him the first Nigeria state governor ever to be impeached.
Impeachment saga has dominated fourth republic, it all started with the impeachment of then president of the Nigeria Senates, Evan Enwerem in November 18, 1999 and his successor Chuba Okadigbo and Adolphus Wabara were also impeached. Severally, President Olusegun Obasanjo declared seat of his Vice president vacant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar which was over turn by the courts. Many states governors witnesses impeachment saga these governors are Diepre Alamieyesigha, Bayelsa, Ayo Fayose, Ekiti, Rasheed Ladoja, Oyo and Joshua Dariye, Plateau.
Governor Joshua Dariye was impeached on November 13, 2006 but on April 27, 2007 the Supreme Court ordered his reinstatement with immediate effect. Also impeached was Governor Rasheed Ladoja on January 2006, but reinstated in December 2006. Governor Ayodele Fayose was also impeached but recently the court declared his impeachment unlawful, null and void. Governor, Peter Obi was also impeached on November 2,2006 by the state house of assembly after seven months in office and replaced the next day by Virgina Etiaba, his deputy, making her the first ever female governor in Nigeria history.Obi mandate was restored after the court of Appeal sitting in Enugu ordered for his reinstatement on February 9, 2007.
Many speakers of the States House of Assemblies were also impeached in Nigeria. Most Nigeria state governor has turn their deputy governor to spare tyre and they have become endangered species , State like Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba,Imo and Ondo states deputy governors has once be impeached in one dispensation.
Bauchi state deputy governor,Alhaji Garba Gadi was impeached on August 14, 2009 for his refusal to defect from All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) to the PDP like the governor, Alhaji Isa Yuguda but the state High court ordered for his reinstated immediately on June 26, 2010 and also directed the state government to pay Gadi salaries and allowances accruing to him while the illegal impeachment lasted.
Taraba state deputy governor, Alhaji Sanni Danladi was impeached by the state House of Assembly on October 2012, but the Supreme Court ordered for his reinstatement on November 21, 2014 and his now the present acting governor of Taraba state.
Imo state deputy governor, Jide Agbaso was also impeached on March 28, 2013. And was accused of acts of grave corruption, including the demand of a bribe of more than N400 million from a contractor.
Ondo State deputy governor, Ali Olanusi was also impeached on April 27, 2015 because he defects from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressive Congress (APC).
Recently, Many State House of Assemblies (Adamawa, Enugu, kebbi, Niger and Ondo States) has been instigating impeachment against the state governor over misconducts or misappropriation of public fund. But there are two silent factors to these 11th hours impeachment: The governor undoing that make the house members loss their bid for reelection and secondly, the last chance for them to collect their political gratuity from the governor.
All these impeachment sagas has under tune of political gain and is undermining our democracy, impeachable offences and it processes has been stipulated in the constitution and our legislatures should stop mocking our democracy.

Sports / Bayern Munich Face A Mammoth Task In Their UEFA Champions League Semi-final by boboje: 6:58pm On May 10, 2015
Bayern Munich face a mammoth task in their UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is praying for a "once in a century" display.
In last week's opening leg at Camp Nou, Bayern matched Barca for 75 minutes until Lionel Messi inspired Luis Enrique's side to a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Argentine maestro scored the opening two goals before setting up Neymar for the third in stoppage time as the Catalan giants moved to the brink of their fourth final in the past 10 seasons.
Bayern's preparation for this clash has been less than ideal, with Pepe Reina - who started in goal in place of the rested Manuel Neuer on Saturday- lasting just 13 minutes before being sent off in their 1-0 home defeat to Augsburg.
However, already crowned Bundesliga champions, the defeat is of little consequence to Bayern, and chief executive Rummenigge is hoping his club can achieve what is seemingly an impossible task at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.
"It is going to be very hard," he said. "Barcelona were the favourites in the first place and after the game that status grew. This is normal when you get this sort of result.
"But nonetheless, it is the duty of Bayern Munich to put on their best performance on Tuesday. We will see if it will be enough. Our chances are very, very small, but in football there is always one game in a century where you can turn the tides.
"They are rare, I know, but it is our responsibility to give all we can. If it is not enough you can't change it but you at least have to try."
Bayern's build-up to the game has also been disrupted by rumours that head coach and former Barca boss Pep Guardiola has signed a pre-contract agreement to move to Manchester City at the end of this season.
But although Bayern's hopes of a treble have been dashed by last week's defeat to Barca and a DFB-Pokal semi-final loss to Borussia Dortmund, Rummenigge believes 2014-15 will still go down as a success.
"If I was have write a report on our season so far, it would be very positive," he added.
By contrast, Barca are very much on course for the treble, with a Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao to look forward to, while Saturday's 2-0 win over Real Sociedad and Real Madrid's 2-2 draw with Valencia gave them a four-point lead at the top of La Liga with two matches remaining.
Luis Enrique's men are on a blistering run of form at just the right time, winning all of their last eight matches, scoring 28 goals and keeping seven consecutive clean sheets.
Bayern may take heart from the opening leg of the 2012-13 semi against Barca, which they won 4-0 on their way to a 7-0 aggregate success, but against a frontline of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez - who have scored 112 goals between them this season - such a repeat seems unlikely.

Sports / Manchester City 6-0 QPR: Sergio Aguero Hat-trick Relegated Rangers by boboje: 4:46pm On May 10, 2015
For Queens Park Rangers this was more than merely a limp descent from the Barclays Premier League. It was a descent into financial chaos and possibly even non-league football. A descent that should embarrass the Loftus Road hierarchy as much as it does the highly-paid players who so meekly surrendered their top flight status to Sergio Aguero and his Manchester City colleagues here.
Before this encounter had even kicked-off an issue with Sandro’s residency visa meant he was unable to play. How ludicrous. But more depressing for Chris Ramsey would have been the sight of the players he could select contributing little more than their Brazilian colleague. For a team supposedly fighting for survival, this was an abject, strangely apathetic display. Quite the opposite to the defiance we saw from Burnley the previous day.
But there are wider, more serious implications for a club now threatened with a huge fine, possibly as much as £58million, for a breach of Financial Fair Play rules. For a club that could yet find itself in the Conference next season if a deal cannot be struck with the Football League.
QPR are in this situation largely because of the sheer amount of money squandered on ageing, mediocre players. Even last season, when they were chasing promotion from the Championship, they were said to have a higher wage bill than the winners of Spain’s La Liga and the beaten Champions League finalists, Atletico Madrid.
That wage bill would have only increased this season, seemingly ranking them seventh or eighth in the Premier League, and the manner in which those players have acquitted themselves this season is disappointing to say the least.
Sure, they had to contend with the upheaval of losing Harry Redlknapp at the start of February. And even if Redknapp blamed bad knees for his sudden decision to quit, a further investment in players probably was required during the January transfer window.
But the bigger mistake, in hindsight, was handing the reins to Ramsey when Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion proved the value of appointing a gifted, experienced manager to guide them out of trouble. Ramsey, for all his apparent ability as a coach, reflects on just two wins from his 13 games in charge
Compare this QPR performance to the one they produced under Mark Hughes on the last day of the season three years ago. They might have lost in the end, Sergio Aguero scoring the dramatic winner that secured that first Premier League title for City, but they sure put up a fight that day when different results elsewhere could have sent them down.
On this occasion they offered no resistance, Aguero scoring a hat-trick with Aleksandar Kolarov, James Milner and David Silva adding City’s other goals; an emphatic win that presumably eases the pressure on Manuel Pellegrini on a weekend when there has been yet more talk – denied by the club on Saturday - of Pep Guardiola moving to The Etihad this summer.
If City were excellent going forward, and at they were mesmerising, the manner in which QPR defended must have been so disconcerting for Ramsey.
There was not a hint of commitment or concentration, never mind organisation.
Aguero is a wonderful player, and the class and athleticism he displayed on the solo run that led to his 4th minute goal was a joy to watch; a footballer in his prime.
But QPR’s defenders made it far too easy for him, Clint Hill and Steven Caulker failing to even make a challenge as Aguero skipped diagonally across their penalty area. In the end Matt Phillips collided with him in an attempt to halt the City’s striker’s progress but to no avail, the Argentina international lifting a delightful chip over the advancing Rob Green to send the home side into the lead.
There was a brief response from QPR, with Charlie Austin quite rightly having a goal ruled offside. But they were woeful. Too many misplaced passes, too little desire.
City were tearing them to pieces, with Aguero, Silva and Milner proving particularly impressive.
The only surprise was how long it took City to score a second. They had plenty of chances. Milner went particularly close. But not until Kolarov unleashed a marvellous 32nd minute free-kick did they double their advantage.
QPR did go close to halving that lead soon afterwards, Leroy Fer sending an effort against the crossbar that Bobby Zamora really should have then pounced on. As it was his header was weak, enabling Joe Hart to recover and make a simple save.
City’s third goal, scored shortly after the break, compounded Ramsey’s misery. The rather hopeful ball Silva tried to deliver into the path of Aguero should have been simply enough Suk-Young Yun to intercept, but the Korean allowed the ball to slip under his right boot and so enable City’s striker to burst clear. And faced with only Green to beat, the Premier League’s leading striker did so with ease.
Aguero’s third would come in the 64th minute, on this occasion from the penalty spot after Phillips had made a clumsy, cynical challenge on the advancing Silva. It was Aguero’s fifth hat-trick for City and one that should now see him secure the Premier League’s golden boot with Harry Kane now five goals behind.
Milner would score City’s fifth five minutes later, QPR’s failure to stop Wilfried Bony win the initial header resulting in a simple close-range conversion for the England midfielder.
By the end if had become something of an exhibition match, Silva accelerating onto a delightful Bony back-heel before rounding Green and slotting home from inside the six-yard box.
The visiting fans were less than impressed. Indeed when Shaun Wright-Phillips came on as a substitute to the applause of his former fans, QPR’s supporters responded with rather less welcoming gestures. Perhaps understandably in the circumstances.

Politics / General Buhari And New Political Adc’s (dogari) by boboje: 12:31pm On May 10, 2015
By Reuben Ayodele

Ever since the announcement of General Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the march 28, 2015 presidential election, we have been awaken to see all manners of professional political jobbers around the General. I bet some have refused to go home since the general was announced as Nigeria president in waiting. At every media events, in which the president-elect is present you see this set of regular face trying to outweigh each other in photo shorts, you see them in television and on the front pages of the print media.
They now see the president more than his beloved wife Aisha Buhari, I guess some now watching over the general.General Buhari should be aware this political ADC’s only contributed one vote to his victory, like every other Nigerians. They cannot claim to love him more than we Nigerians who passionately drive the wind of change all over the nooks and crannies of this country.
Am not against people paying respect or facilitating with victory of General Buhari, but the altitude nowadays been display is worrysome. The people general should not be deceived by this new set of unofficial ADC dogaris, they are mainly looking for how to continue been in the corridor of power, As a friend of mine will called it “They are ulcer patient” who cannot stay without food.
Am optimistic going by your antecedent that you will surprise this set of people, because Nigerians are behind you to effect genuine change in governance.

Politics / AFTERMATH OF MARCH 28th:salient Issues Therefrom. by boboje: 4:29pm On May 09, 2015
SOLOMON O. OJIGBE
(Social affairs analyst)

It will be aptly captured in the record books that there was a time in Nigeria when there existed a political party which stood like a gargantuan colossus too potent enough to be disembarked. The hitherto magnificent political conglomerate serially outwits its opponents in terms of political antics, shrewdness and sagacity. Little wander then that on several fora and platforms it often times assert to the chagrin of the populace how it was going to hold sway particularly at the centre for an upward period of at least 60 years. The said conglomerate treats its supposed subjects with utmost scorn and instituted itself to a status reminiscence of a demi-god who is destined to have its way at all times, given any situation, irrespective of whose ox is gored.

It was almost coasting home with its much touted dictum of long term reign until the other miniature political cleavages put into a potent test of patriotism/altruism, political sacrifice and benevolence as well as a united front in what eventually gave birth to the APC following the successful coalescing of the smaller political parties. The ANPP, ACN, CPC and a section of APGA into one compact fusion. The above amalgamation signaled the fall of the “big umbrella” whose misrule, highhandedness as well as its modus operandi and modus vivendi has turned it into an albatross of some sort at least within the Nigerian social system.

The following indices were pivotal to the downward string and eventual decapitation of the once flourishing party by the collective will of the Nigerian masses particularly the youths:
 Flagrant abuse of power/impunity at its highest ebb.
 Over zealousness from political aides (dogaris as a good friend of more will call them).
 Disconnect from the vast proportion of the populace particularly in respect to their plight, instinct and disposition to the machinery of governance.
 Institutionalization of corruption, looting and highhandedness.
 Politics of stomach infrastructure as against concrete physical and social infrastructure et’al.
 Insurgency and security breaches at advanced level.
 Enthronement of mediocrity, prejudices and its affiliates at the expense of competency, efficiency and prudence.
 Disregard of counsel particularly from elders (founding fathers) and renowned technocrats/professionals.
 Duplicity of committees without a robust framework for implementing decisions reached.

Conclusively, the dethronement of the PDP and eventual enthronement of the APC must be seen as a victory for the collective will of Nigerians, particularly the youths and must be so treated. The above pitfalls and others to be uncovered through proactive policy formulation and implementation framework must be positively acted upon.

Any attempt to do otherwise or maintain the statusquo will re-unite the masses to put to test their collective will power, am upbeat that as they have done now will not hesitate to speak with an even louder ovation and opium…Nigerian masses are getting wiser.

Politics / The Mourinho In Nigeria Politicians by boboje: 10:18am On May 09, 2015
By Reuben Ayodele

Nigeria politicians and their new found love of congratulating their fellow contestant before the official announcement of result by INEC.We should not be carried away by this act, in all sincerity without been irrational, I find it very funny.
It’s the reincarnation of the unsportmanship attitude of Chelsea football club boss Jose Mourinho. Who occasional congratulate his opposing coach when a match is still few moment from ending, He usually walk down the tunnel. If to mourinho this is psychological, I bet it with Nigeria politicians it is” please no carry me go EFCC after May 29”
This sort of mentality is not sportsmanship, sportsmanship is supposed to come into play after the final whistle of a match. We have seen instances where the last kick of the ball decided a football match.
This attitude is what is been played out from candidates and most incumbent Governors of the self-acclaimed largest party in Africa PDP from President Goodluck Jonathan to Kaduna State Governor Ramalan Yero to Kebbi State Governor Saidu Dankingari,Benue State Governor Suswan and Tersor and Muazu Babangida and his anointed son Umar Nasko of Niger state.

The underlying truth is that this throwing in the towel of defeat before results is announced are mainly for selfish reason. We should not be deceived most of them are looking for save landing from their successors. Time will tell if all these antics will work.

Politics / Hegemony Of Nigeria Political Bourgeoisie by boboje: 9:53am On May 09, 2015
By Ayodele Seun

Karl Marx argued that every human society has been pluralize into two groups, The rich and poor, elites and masses, lord and serf, bourgeoisie and proletariat, have and have not. Marx argued that there will be clash/conflict of interest between the two classes from feudalism where feudal lord and serf will clash to capitalism where the clash will be so intense between bourgeoisie and proletariat that new social order will emerged to socialism and communism where people will get according to his need and give according to his ability.

Nigeria political bourgeoisie are in two form; political godfatherism and political entrepreneur.
Political godfatherism are prominent, charisma, extravagantly generous and influential people who command a lot of respect in their community/state and among their peers. They always kept their door/gate open for visitors with the sole aim of controlling people in the corridor of power and public fund. People like Chief Chris Uba, Jim Nwobodo, Chief Lamidi Adedibu, Dr Olusola Saraki, Sen. Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Atiku Abubakar etc.

While Political Entrepreneur are wealthy, professionals, and business moguls who invest their resources on a political candidates for reward of been given political appointment and award of contract jobs. The like of Abdulrasheed Maina, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola,Arthur Eze and Jide Omokore etc.

Nigeria political bourgeoisie has combine the both qualities of political entrepreneur and god fatherism but as our democracy is growing our political bourgeoisie is now evolving toward political entrepreneur and godfatherism will soon become the things of the past.
The political bourgeoisie of Nigeria has become so prominent in this dispensation (Nigeria Fourth Republic ).It all started with our military Genarals of Abdulsalam Abubakar who released General Olusegun Obasanjo from prison and supported by General Ibrahim Babagida and General T.Y Danjuma that projected and sponsored General Olusegun Obasanjo to emerged Nigeria president-elect on 27 February 1999,on the plat form of People’s Democratic Party (PDP),who defeated Olu Falae, who was running on a joint Alliance for Democracy-All People’s Party ticket.
But Chief Olusegun Obasanjo easily harmonizes the interest of his political bourgeoisie and uses his military seniority to put them on check.
The story is differ at the state level where godfathers clash with their anointed son in Anambra,Oyo,Kwara, Plateau and Enugu.
The clash was intense then in Anambra state between Governor Chris Ngige and His godfather chris Uba to the extent that government house was burnt and the sitting Governor was kidnaped by security operatives. The story was not palatable in Oyo state where a sitting Governor then Rashidi Ladoja was barred from passing the route around his godfather house (chief Lamidi Adedibu), who later instigated Oyo state House of Assembly that eventually impeached Governor Rashidi Ladoja on January 2006, but reinstated in December 2006.
And in kwara state, Governor mohammed Lawal clash with his godfather chief Olusola Saraki.governor Lawal almost enthrone another kingship of oba of Ilorin in order to sideline Emir of Ilorin who is loyal to chief Olusola Saraki and the second republic senate leader defect from All Peoples Party (APP) to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under plat form by which his son Dr bukola Saraki contested gubernatorial election in 2003 and defeated the incumbent Governor Mohammed Lawal.
The impact of political godfatherism is always negatively felt at the state and local government level where they do dry state milk and even share from state fund (Allocation from federal government) on monthly basis. Some of them go to the extent of forcing the Governor/Chairman to swear on an oath never to betray them from sharing national cake. They factually do nominate all the state commissioners and other political appointee (He who pays the piper dictates the tune).
Since the announcement of General Muhammadu buhari, as the winner of the march 28, 2015 presidentila election, one of the greatest challenges ahead of him is how to harmonize the hegemony of the political bourgeoisie around him (Sen. Ahmed Tinubu, Sen Bukola Saraki, Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, Rochas Okorocha, and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo etc.) for the betterment of all Nigerians.
People’s General need to learn from President Goodluck Jonathan who allows cabal to ruin his transformation administration. Time will tell if General Muhammadu Buhari will not allow these political bourgeoisies to ruin his administration.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Chelsea V Liverpool : Roodgers Out To Topple The Champions by boboje: 10:55pm On May 08, 2015
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for premier league champions Chelsea , but insists his side will not be overawed when they travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
So close to winning the title themselves last season, Liverpool have been well off the pace in 2014-15, but still harbor hopes of overtaking Manchester United and claiming a top-four finish.
With three matches remaining, Rodgers’ side are four points behind their arch-rivals, and the Northern Irishman knows they must target a maximum return in west London.
“We’re going into the game at the weekend looking to win,” Rodgers said.
Chelsea are obviously deserved champions, they’ve been the best team, but all we can do is control the last three games, look to win those and see where we end up. I’m purely focused on the game.
“I congratulated (Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho). They’re the deserving champions and to win it with a few games to go is obviously pleasing for him.
After confirming their status as champions, the Chelsea players were reportedly given four days off to celebrate- a claim Mourinho has denied- but in any event, Rodgers is not expecting any hangover.
“II think if they’ve had a few days off then they deserve it” he added. They’ve won the league and they can celebrate that.
Mourinho, meanwhile, pinpointed Chelsea 5-3 loss at Tottenham on New Year’s Day as the pivotal moment in their title challenge, with the champions unbeaten in their 15 league matches since then.
“The key moment was the stability after losing at spurs, everybody stuck together and we were very calm,” he said on Friday.
“What pleases me is winning the title, the way we did it and the consistency we’ve shown in difficult periods.
“We want to win our matches, we have three difficult games. We don’t need to win but we want to try to win points”
Mourinho still has fitness concerns over Diego Costa (hamstring), Ramires (illness) and Oscar (thigh), while for Rodgers, Mario Balotelli (foot) is back in contention although Mamadou Sakho (hamstring) remains out.

Politics / Mama Taraba: Nigeria Margaret Thatcher In Making by boboje: 6:40pm On May 07, 2015
BY AYODELE SEUN

Sen.Aisha Jummai Alhassan is a mumuye by tribe, one of the largest tribe in Taraba state. A lawyer by training, she became Taraba state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice. She was appointed the Chief Registrar of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on 17 December 2003. She contested Taraba North Senatorial seat under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), she ran an energetic election campaign, managing to gain Christian support despite herself being Muslim. She is generous and good hearted. She defeated Jolly Nyame of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
She is among the few women that won senatorial seat in the 2011 National Assembly Election; she was appointed Vice Chairman of Senate Committee of Women Affairs and Member Senate Committee of Housing and Urban Development.
She is Senator presently representing Taraba North, which she won under the platform of PDP. She later defected to All Progressive Congress (APC) and became the Governorship candidate of Taraba State for the 2015 general elections. Her candidacy revives hope in Nigerians that the first democratic elected female governor may emerge in Nigeria. She fought gallantly but lost to Darius Ishaku of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the rerun elections of 25 April, 2015.
Many factors work against her success in the poll, APC crisis in the state were deepen after the APC primary election in the state, the three governorship aspirants of the All Progressive Congress (APC) they stage a walk out of the nomination of the Sen. Aisha Alhassan with 17,000 APC supporters defect to PDP.And also APC lack structure on ground to reconcile their aggrieved members.
Secondly, Religion factor play a vital role in her defeat at the poll, Taraba state is predominantly Christian state and they opted voting for their Christian brother. Nigeria Democracy is still growing and religion in particular is still shaping the pattern of voting in Nigeria.
Thirdly, the final factor that works against her at the poll is gender inequality. Nigeria is yet to produce her first female elected governor and this is monumental mountain that anybody that will clamp it must ready to face mountainous challenges.
Nigeria democracy is growing and with the iron lady like Nigeria Margaret Thatcher in making (Sen. Aisha Jummai Alhassan) as I love to call her, Gender Inequality in Nigeria politics will soon become things of the past and affirmative action on women will soon be achieve in Nigeria. Nigeria Margaret Thatcher in making has given us hope that not only that Nigeria first elected female governor may soon emerged and also Nigeria may soon have female elected President.

Sports / Jose Mourinho Close To Signing New 2year Chelsea Deal After Premier League Win by boboje: 12:30pm On May 06, 2015
Chelsea and Jose Mourinho are ready to conclude talks over new contract with a view to keeping him in charge at Stamford Bridge until 2019.
BY AYODELE SEUN

Mourinho's current deal, thought to be worth £12.5million a year, expires in two years but there is a will from both sides to swiftly agree a two-year extension with improved terms.
The manager will be back in his office at the training ground on Wednesday after two days off following the club's first Barclays Premier League title triumph in five years.

Chelsea hope contract negotiations can be finalised quickly before they focus on the summer transfer market.
Barcelona striker Pedro Rodriguez has emerged as a possible target as Mourinho attempts to strengthen his squad and build a dynasty at Stamford Bridge.
Ever since returning to London from Real Madrid two years ago, he has insisted that he no longer felt the urge to club-hop in pursuit of personal ambition.
Instead, he came in legacy mode, keen to create something to compare with what Sir Alex Ferguson did at Manchester United.
Mourinho said it would be 'impossible' for him to match Sir Alex's 13 Premier League titles, but he is determined to achieve more at Stamford Bridge.
'My next move will be if and when Chelsea decides it is time,' said the 52-year-old, earlier this year, and Roman Abramovich, a visible presence during the run-in, appears delighted.
Transfer business seems set to revolve around signing one or two strikers, a defender and a reserve goalkeeper with Petr Cech expected to leave after 11 years.
Chelsea have declared interest in Barcelona's Pedro having been made aware of his availability, earlier this year, and they also admire Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann.

Politics / Nigerians Yearn For Change Not Apc by boboje: 7:38am On May 06, 2015

Since the announcement of General Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of presidential election, APC stewards has been celebrating their victory, red carpet was rolled at the National secretariat of All Progressive Congress(APC) and party chieftains came from across the country to felicitate with the president-elect on his victory.
Nigerians propelled the change of government through their voting power because Nigerians are tired of failed promises and inability of PDP led government to address unemployment, decade of infrastructures and insecurity. PDP led government failed to listen to the yearning of the masses but keep enriching the high class in the expense of the masses.
The voting pattern across the country may take sectionalism, religion and region but the real fact is that Nigerians want change and they voted for change, at least the voting pattern in North central showed clearly Nigerians want change, APC won overwhelmingly in a region where they only control Nassarawa state before defection of Kwara state governor. APC have landslide victory in a state like Benue,Kogi and Niger state in all the category of elections conducted (Presidential, national assembly, gubernatorial and house of assembly elections) these are the states control by PDP but their governors failed to deliver dividend of democracy, they failed woefully, Workers has suffered unpaid salaries in Benue state while in Kogi and Niger state the people are not feeling the impact of governance.
The APC should stop attributing victory to themselves and their party chieftains, APC served as the plat form in which change is been achieved but is Nigerians that actually yearn for change because of the undoing of PDP led administration.
General Muhammadu Buhari and APC led administration should deliver on their promises or else Nigerians with their PVC will still yearn for change after four years.

Politics / Breaking Tribal Hegemony In States by boboje: 7:29am On May 05, 2015
By Ayodele Seun

Aristotle argued against democracy as the government of the majority ruling in their own interest. In reality that is what democracy depicts in developing country/third world country.
Democracy has been conceptualized in different country of the world, in order to suit their social setting and proffer solution to social problems. Country of the world has modern the pattern and system of governance that is best for their contemporary society.
Nigeria democracy has been characterized by the hegemony of the major tribes at federal, state and local government level. Nigeria democracy is government by number whereby smaller tribes are not been treated fairly in power sharing and fair representation. Minority is a concept of disadvantageous and been use as a scapegoat in politics.
Since the creation of kogi state only one major tribe from kogi east has been producing the state governor which is unfair on the kogi central and west and also in Benue state one major tribe has occupied state governor position.Other states need to imbibe the political culture in Delta state, which as rotated the governorship position among the three senatorial districts ( james Ibori Delta south,Dr emmanuel Uduaghan Delta centrral and now Dr Ifeanyi Okowa Delta north). If there is power sharing at the central government where positions is been zone to different geo-political zone, which is the true spirit of federalism. Power sharing should also be adopted at the state level whereby governorship position should be rotate among the three senatorial districts of the state. If there is equal representative in legislative arms, why can’t also be equal representative in executive arm? Federal character should be adopted at state level and spirit of oneness can be built on fairness and justice.
This injustice is characterized in many state in Nigeria (Kogi, Benue, Nasarrawa,Taraba and Kaduna etc.) where a section or one major tribe will hold on to power for long and established is hegemony on the other tribes. State of Assembly that has enacted law for the position of governor and deputy governor to be pensionable should also enact law to make power rotation constitutional in their various states among the senatorial districts.

Our democracy should be built within the concept of federal character to stop this marginalization of the minority tribes.

Politics / Forgive Their Political Sin But Do Not Forgive Their Economic Sins by boboje: 7:18am On May 05, 2015

The long waited change as finally comes. General Muhammadu Buharibmust hit the ground running after May 29, 2015. Thank God all the court cases by PDP against the president-elect have been withdrew. This change must not just be a slogan, but it must affect the welfare and wellbeing of Nigerians. General Buhari and his change train must think beyond the box. It not just knowing the problems of Nigeria, that is the solution but Nigeria must be fixed.
The milking cow is suffering from kwashiorkor after so many years of been suck dry by the elites. Nigerians voted for change because of your party manifesto, we believe you will take us to the promise land. APC campaign centered on fighting corruption, insecurity, job creation, power and improving infrastructures deficit etc.
Corruption has been a recurrent decimal that as decimated Nigeria. Corruption has taken over the name of Nigeria in the eye of the international community because of scam called subsidy. The massive corruption in civil and public service, energy sector and every sphere of our daily lives’ believe your administration can fight corruption when EFCC and ICPC are strengthen which will in turn reduce political bonanza and jamboree.
Your promise of fighting insecurity, without security all these sweet promises might end in futility. The professional value of our security forces must be restored; the arm force and other security apparatus must be motivated and trained them must be ever prepared to fight any form of aggression, so that sectarian violence, religion killings and ethnic cleansing will be a thing of the past.
On job creation the people’s General need to honour his words to the army of unemployed Nigeria youth .Unemployment as move from 8% in 1999 to over 30%. Your administration need to create conducive environment for private investment into the economy there by promoting medium small scale enterprises for the youth who are ready to work, encouraging and training young entrepreneur to discover their potential. Nigeria youth are hardworking we do not want to rely on the stipend you promise, but teach us how to fish.
The energy sector, this is an area where Nigerians believe need argent attention, the power sector as been like rocket science to previous administration. We Nigerians do not care the number of megawatt of electricity been generated but we just need light in our homes and for business. The public private partnership (PPP) been entered into by previous administration must be review because cabal have share our national wealth.
You promise us improve infrastructures deficit that all need attention, the decaying infrastructures across the six geo-political zone need to be fixed, the rail system, the dredging of river niger and massive construction of roads.
Education, the change you promise in the education sector must be fulfill, the six additional university of technology, giving free meal to primary school pupils, training and retraining of teachers and updating Nigeria educational curriculum to meet with countries like china, Malaysia and Brazil etc. Which are all technologically driven. It’s a right for every Nigerian child to be educated.
GMB, sai baba as you are fondly called by your admirers. You alone cannot do it, let your cabinet member know that democracy survive on accountability. Time for politics is over, sir forgive their political sin but do not forgive their economics sins. This time to stop the butchering of fat cow, the wealth stolen by cabal and mafias must be recovered. Remember your honour and integrity alone will not bring food for Nigerians, we the masses are solidly behind you because this is our own time for change.
