see, I told u. it's not bad at all for a v6, 20 city, 21 highway. quite efficient if u ask me. some v6 do city 18.
go for it if all the necessary checks r in place. also check the cel on the dash.
cel means check engine light, or any other malfunction light. also don't forget to scan. sometimes they manually disable it.

ur content tends to focus on ur particular issue regarding v6 and I4.

for others posting without proof..... that's y the big guns didn't​contribute.
v6 actually give more power at the cost of a lil extra fuel. someone here used a perfect illustration...... 4 or 6 men carrying a load for u. lemme give u a better scenario... 4 men pushing ur car and 6 men. the illustrator forgot the cost tho. if they charge u per min @ 1k per min, 4 men might get the job done in 1 hr, while 6 men in 45mins. do the math. u gats a trade-off between finance and time taken. for lovers of power cruise... use v6 albeit very terrible mpg in heavy traffic city driving and more than a perfect experience on the highway. for misers of fuel and mostly city drivers.. go for 4cyl

I will not drive anything less than a V6 engine. Forget all the noise about v6 consuming fuel its a big fat lie the consumption difference is insignificant. However you must always treat your car with respect. Ive been driving my v6 accord for 4 years now. I always take pride in bragging to my friends how economical the fuel consumption is whenever they start whining about how their four cylinder consumes fuel. My next car will be an AWD but if it aint v6 or 8 i aint buying period.

A 4cylinder of same car will have a better fuel economy than the 6 cylinder

I won't advice you buy the 6 cylinder if much of your driving would be within city and less interstate cause then you are under utilizing the power of the V6

If your area is prone to traffic I won't advice a V6 either, you need a 2.0 4cylinder engine or something less so you can reduce cost of fueling the car.

Above all If you are OK with 10L/100km that is 1500 for every 100km, then I did say you buy the car. The choice is yours

No car is super good and no one is bad each car have there advantage and disadvantage in fact am Chief of rare car and have never regret using any car. When I want to buy a car I test it to my satisfactionand my mind go for it I pay and enjoy my money. V6, v4 the all serve there purpose and both are very good. The question is who do you give your car to service?

the millennia has the 2.5L V6....its only a foolish mecho that will say the engine will consume fuel

I am talking based on fact and usage of a 2000 Mazda 626 ES V6 which is the same engine with the millennia

one thing also stands out from ur post...the fact that u love the ride

why not go for what u love and leave people to their opinion

u won't regret it.....only if u change ur mecho

I will do the 2.5L V6 over all the mumu 2.2,2.4L I4 over and over again

Owning a 2 V6 engines taught me a huge lesson. DON'T listen to what those clowns in greased overall always say. My previous 3.5L V6 Qx4 was a monster on the highway. It had enough torque and ponies despite its curb mass (and sometimes I have some cargo) yet it keeps my spirit elated and I smile like an imp whenever I engage in my little misdemeanors. Same goes for my current 3.3L V6 RX330. Imagine me doing 170-180km/hr @ 2300-3000 RPMS with windows all up and AC or fan turned on this equates to relatively high returns on MPG


My highlander 2.4L i4 starts to ask for more fuel and increased engine growl accompanied with slight increase in vibration if I take it above 165km/h. I've taken it to about 170km/hr @3500RPMs but it took a while and a bit of lead footing, and still had slightly poor MPG than my 3.3L V6 RX330.

I only get a better MPG in city in my higlander 2.4L i4.

However, a V8 and above isn't necessary in Nigeria except you have a truck and you're towing lots of mass.
What will one use a V8 biturbo or V10biturbo or even a twin turbo V12 to do in Nigeria?
Run from Kogi to Lagos?

I no mind get that kind big high performance V motors for Naija though

IMO, its up to anyone who wants to buy.

V6 means likely
1. Bigger engine size and weight
2. Higher engine oil volume when servicing
3. Greater fuel consumption
4. Higher torque and acceleration (higher chance of collision if driving skill isn't perfect)
5. More engine parts (2 top gaskets, 2 valve cover seals 4 O2 sensors, 2 catalytic converters...)
6. Bigger fuel pump...

The mechanic gave you candid advice.

Nothing is wrong with a V6 engine... It is true it consumes more fuel than an average V4 but trust me when i say what it lacks in fuel efficiency, it compensates it with Power and torque especially if you travel a lot with your Car.
V6 consumes less fuel when speeding ... I drive a V6 and i love it whenever i travel with my car

Note: Mazda Is generally fuel efficient (my opinion)

Your mechanic has given you a piece of professional advice and you are still asking us.

The only issue v6 has is slightly higher fuel consumption. So if you like the car enough to be unperturbed by more expense on fuel then there's no other problem.

no matter the mileage your car is packing, maintenance is the key to enjoying it. I bought a car with 300,000km a year after, am still enjoying every bit of it after adding 12,000km my self no delay or issues.

define your excessive speed, I can do 100km/hr and remove my hands from the steering or even bend down and wear my shoes though my eyes never leaves the road and I only do that without traffic on either sides though dangerous but what the heck live life well and enjoy every moment of it

@op if traffic wasn't an issue in lagos I did just buy a VW phaeton with VV12 engine and enjoy the acceleration, handling and the luxury that comes with it and laught at the TURBOCHARGED wanna be speedsters. I know the worst mpg it will give will be highway but with traffic, V8 upwards is a no no for me
