Of what use is subsidy removal when the savings will be drastically looted? Since the removal last year, the three arms of government have gone on spending spree on luxury---yacht, jets, SUVs, VP's residence, etc. External borrowing has got worse.

Both of you kind of have a point. But I resonate more with the first comment because if Dangote did not create something of huge value that engages consumers to be paying VAT to him, there'd be no output VAT to remit to the Government.

The knowhow to make his cement and sugar products the most attractive to consumers is to Dangote's credit and that you should not downplay that.

Yet people like you abuse me for supporting fuel subsidy removal since that time. Because, apparently, you are like that taiwo. You love cheap fuel. You are just opposing it because your side is not in power.

At the end, subsidy should have gone since 1993. If not earlier. Most governments did not have the balls to remove it. Even tinubu had to remove it because when 90% of government revenue is going on paying debt, something has to give.

Previous administrations really dealt this nation a great blow,many years ago a barrel was sold for as high as $150 and inflation was drastically low.Those greedy lots was busy stealing here and send abroad their lots,significant mechanisms should have been put in place to save for the rainy days probably the situation might have been better
