bestofnollywood:
Tonye Cole, candidate for APC in Rivers State's governorship election slated for March 11 has once again proven that he is a man that is underhanded and knavish, and as such, Rivers people are warned about his two-faced tendencies, and should therefore not trust him with their vote as Governor of Rivers State.

It has been noticed that Tonye Cole deleted the Facebook message which congratulated Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his victory in the recently concluded presidential election. He published the message on the verified page of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It is speculated that he did this because his congratulatory message was received with criticism from a section of social media users who are largely believed to be loyal to the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi.

The post was deleted about one hour after it was published. Tonye Cole's quick action in deleting the post shows that Mr. Cole is willing to do whatever it takes to please the people he needs votes from and doesn't care about his own party's values. This means that he is likely to change his positions in order to please the people he needs support from, regardless of the consequences.

However, realizing that the post may have offended supporters of Obi's LP and will cost him the expected votes, he deleted it. This led to questions as to whether he was dissociating himself from Tinubu and APC's victory in the presidential election.

Tonye's post had the potential to be seen as pro-Tinubu, which he perceived could alienate those who are pro-Obi and are against APC's victory.

By deleting the post, he was essentially trying to dissociate himself from any possible political affiliations and salvage his chances of getting the expected votes.

Na all of us get directive from Wike to vote APC presidential, most of us still vote Obi. Abi no be so? Because we sabi betta tin. Lets just be honest with our selves, Beatrice is a capable woman but Tonye Cole is the best and sensible choice. She too she should join hands with him. Abeg lets not let fake news steal our future for this state.

I can tell you with 100% certainty Tonye Cole's mother is from Anambra state, I heard it with my two ears in one non indigene meeting like this he attended and spoke at. I mean he may be many things but can't quite change his origins.
Nwaetche:
What do you mean all igbos and Peter Obi Obidients. Why are you bringing Igbo matter here? Are all Igbos Obidient? Is it not Igbo businessmen that gave BAT a billion Naira the other day?

Why are some people hypocritical? Why are you generalizing? Are you saying that Igbos do not have a stake in Rivers politics?

Ijaws, Igbo, Edos and Ibibios are all have a stake in Rivers due to clan affiliations and history. Singling out the Igbos is very mischievous.

I am Igbo and I have a stake just as any Rivers son or daughter.

Itodo is not even Igbo neither is Tonye Cole. Most Igbos and Igboid groups I know are supporting SIM for obvious reasons ranging from party affiliation to him being from Opobo.

I also know many riverine and Ijoids clans supporting Cole due to tribal affiliation. A few of the Ijoid folks especially those affiliated with IYC are supporting SIM to prove their claim to Ibani.
However, as I always say, among the riverine tribes of Rivers, Opobo and Bonny would always play an oversize political weight due to their location and language affiliation.

It is not the great Ibani nation’s fault, the political bed was laid long ago by their wise and great ancestors which carved an independent identity. They remain true to their Igboid language with distinct culture totally different from their immediate neighbours till this day.
We will all have to live with it.

SIM is taking advantage of his party structure and his unique fortune of being from Ibani although I heard he is originally from Nkoro (Ibibiod/Ijaw area of Opobo) but he has stylishly being playing that low to maximise Igboid support.

My Etchie had the misfortune of being balkanised between Imo, Abia and Rivers but we will soon make it up. High Chief Onyeso is going to Senate and the next governor after SIM would likely come to the great land of Ochie, all things being equal.

I need you people to pick a side. I've been reading comments where people are saying Amaechi has abandoned oga Tonye Cole, yet some are saying he's Amaechi's boy. Can we just agree on one narrative then move from there? Cuz I'm confused, abi how wuna see am? Then this issue of BAT and knowing abi not knowing Cole, please who will be the governor? The Tonye abi the BAT? Honestly I don't care who you vote for, me gon I'm not too sure where I'm leaning but lets just be using facts and the intellect God gave us to make informed decisions.
Nwaetche:
Some people just make comment without any basis.

BAT single handedly destroyed the APC in Rivers State by supporting Abe instead of Tonye Cole, who is a prodigee of Amaechi.

Does Tinubu know that Tonye exists? Have you seen Tonye using BAT logo to campaign? Abeg park somewhere.

Tonye and Madam Itodo are very close pal and have been visiting each long before this accident. It has nothing to do with APC other than their common desire to unseat PDP in the state.

Wawu, at least I can mark you as one wey dey carry stale gist. Shey you don't know Tonye Cole went to appeal court on that kangaroo judgement. I think last I checked APC will be on the ballot for state house of assembly in like 11 LGA's. Though I don't remember the full details last last Appeal court say APC go dey ballot. And bottom line only INEC can remove candidate. Wether we like it or not Cole go dey ballot. The issue is wether we will vote for him or not.

quote author=Penguin2 post=118538161]

Lol!

Tonye Cole is wasting his time. Somebody wey court say him no be candidate for next year.

And even if he remains an APC candidate into the election, he will come distant third behind Sim and Abe.

Obi has already told Obidients who to vote for in Rivers and that one is signed and sealed.

It will be delivered when Wike keeps his own end of the bargain.
Politics / Re: Breaking:apc Rivers Guber Candidate Appeals FHC Rulling Nullifying Primaries by Bomadaniels: 11:20pm On Oct 29, 2022
No bi wetin I talk be dat?

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has urged his supporters to remain calm following the annulment of the party’s primaries by a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.

Justice E.A. Obile had last Tuesday nullified the primaries of the state APC in a matter filed by one George Orlu and four others-aggrieved members of the party.

The aggrieved members in the suit, who claimed to have purchased nomination forms, had approached the court requesting that the primaries of APC in state be nullified following their alleged exclusion in the process.

Justice Obile in his ruling held that the aggrieved persons were shut out of the primaries unlawfully, adding that the process amounted to nullity.

Obila further agreed in the judgment with the plaintiffs that they were wrongly excluded in the process to participate in the party primaries, and therefore, ruled that all those elected from the primaries stand nullified and should not be recognized as candidates.

Meanwhile, the party’s governorship candidate, Cole, has told his supporters to remain calm, assuring them that APC will remain on the ballot sheet during the 2023 elections in the state.

In a statement made available to THISDAY, it was revealed that the candidate has appealed the judgment.

According to the statement, “Tonye Patrick Cole, the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, has appealed ruling nullifying the APC primaries conducted in Rivers State by the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“On October 25, 2022, the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt in its decision, ruled in favour of the claimant, George Orlu, and four other persons who claimed to have been unlawfully excluded from participating in the APC governorship primary election. This led to the nullification of the APC primaries, disqualifying Tonye Cole and Innocent Barikor as candidates in the 2023 gubernatorial elections of Rivers State.”

However, Cole, who expressed his unwavering regard for the judicial process, appealed the ruling to cancel the APC primaries in Rivers State.

He cited the claimant’s request to nullify the election as “self-serving and cowardly on the basis that none of them were registered members of the party when they filed the case in court

Shey you people don't understand the democratic process in this country? Isn't it only INEC that has the power to take someone off the ballot? Forget this talk about second option and just vote who you intended to vote for. Tonye Cole is still very much the APC gubernatorial candidate and is still very much on the ballot, abi you think them too they won't be going to court to challenge the verdict? For now let's just make informed decisions counting him as a candidate until INEC says otherwise.

Kalabari may vote sim
So you take a Judicial panel indictment as ordinary and of no effect? I rest my case , nothing I say would make meaning to you. Good day.

You can indict or sue before presenting proof. Presenting the proof is for court, in this particular instance Sahara have released their statement and proof. And this Wike's issue is not even with Tonye Cole as an individual it's with Sahara, he doesn't own Sahara alone. I just feel like politicians abuse the legal system and law enforcement like EFCC to get their way or drag people through the mud. I just want us to fact check allegations and gossip before we believe things. What do you lose from giving benefit of the doubt?

Rivers State deserves non, they are both corrupt, very unfortunate.

And please what is the proof that Cole is corrupt? Because of what Wike has been alleging with no proof? Ask yourself this honest question, other that Wike's allegation what else have you ever heard about Tonye Cole? And as I keep emphasising what is Mr Wike's proof?

How is he better?

Is it the Cole that siphoned Rivers money with the help of his principal Amaechi? Or you are referring to someone else?

I wish Rivers have better candidates Fubara and Cole are very corrupt.
My question is, why are you people still accusing Amaechi and Cole about a theft with not proof? Just capitalising on what was CLEARLY paper work error. Please Mr Wike Sahara have released their own statement and facts where is your own? Please be verifying your facts instead of just insulting people up and down. Again, if you're interested in fact checking here are the links where I found my information. https://www.sahara-group.com/cg/rivers-state-government.pdf and https://www.sahara-group.com/2022/05/28/sahara-group-clarifies-misleading-media-reports-on-rivers-state-power-assets/. We need to start holding people accountable, lies are what is destroying this nation we don't know who to trust. Let's start a fact checking culture abeg, starting with this looting affair that Wike is alleging with no proof.
Crime / Re: How Amaechi, Tonye Cole Stole Rivers Money ~abe. by Bomadaniels: 6:15pm On Jul 13, 2022
kaydee007:
Ex Rivers south east Senatorial District Representative at the National chamber, Senator Magnus Abe has narrated how Former Nigerian Minister of Transportation, Hon. Chibuike Amaechi and the managing Director, Sahara Energy, Arch Tonye Cole Diverted the sum of 55 Million USD Rivers Money.

Abe, Former Political ally and Secretary to Rivers State Government Under Amaechi have been in disagreement over who controls the leadership of All progressive Congress APC in Rivers State.

Speaking with Supporters over the weekend, Abe alleged that the money was moved from Rivers State Account to Tonye cole through Access Bank

“Amaechi and tonye Cole stole 55 Million dollars. We all thought he was our leader, he went and brought his unknown friend from Lagos state.

“They had an agreement and he transfered the sum of 55 Million USD to Tonye Coles Account when he was a Governor without any Agreement or Documents showing the reason for the transfer. When Governor Wike Came, he saw the transaction.

“Governor wike Called and invited Tonye Cole to come and give reasons while such amount of money was moved to his Company’s account from the state Access Bank account, he refused instead they went to court to stop Wike from investigating them.

“The matter got to Supreme court and they have asked them to return to Rivers state and answer the questions or go to jail.

“He wants the same man to come and be our Governor so they will be transferring Our money dragging us backward. He Said.

Well, they say there's no smoke without fire, it seems the judicial commission published a white paper report that mistakingly indicated an outstanding balance of $28.4 million due from Sahara with respect to the transaction in question. Clearly this is what people have been exaggerating to $55m. Please be verifying your facts instead of just insulting people up and down. What will you lose from giving people benefit of the doubt? And you're making noise, the dubious $55m is between Sahara Group and Rivers State Gov't, not Tonye Cole and Rivers State Govt. I've said my own sha, if you're interested in fact checking here are the links where I found my information. https://www.sahara-group.com/cg/rivers-state-government.pdf and https://www.sahara-group.com/2022/05/28/sahara-group-clarifies-misleading-media-reports-on-rivers-state-power-assets/. Ask river's state gov't to bring their own evidence instead of alleging nonsense up and down.
