@RHINO.5DM,it's not the number of junk post u send but the quality theirin.Learn to address issues not personalities. You joined NL on December 06, 2010, 08:39 PM with 524 un-articulated posts.I joined NL on August 24, 2006, 05:17 PM.We are not mates in this BUSINESS! My pple perish for lack of knowledge. Tell us your views, simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Your excellency, last year, you said you were focussed on d job rather than think of contesting. So what have u achieved almost a year after? 1. Corruption?-------- The unprecedented celebration of d release of Bode George and your representation at d church service coupled with his presence at your rallies summarises your stance. Aside this, the bankers who stole and wrecked the funds of depositors are set free after "serving" 2 yrs in hospital or running away to UK and returning when d coast is cleared by THE AUTHORITIES. So the higher d amount you steal the less your punishment. Little wonder a female civil servant cornered NGN 800m of pensioners’ funds. The women can't afford to be left behind u must say. Kill corruption and every other thing would fall in place. 2. Firmness?-------- Everyone know that you are not your own man almost a year after, this leaves much to be desired.OBJ became his own man within 3 weeks of resumption by restructuring the office and personnel and believing and standing by what he says and this made his team to be focussed because they knew they had a "cover" in baba but can't misbehave as baba would flush them out. But your administration reminds me of Shagari 1979-83 where his reports were very busy looting and squandering while he was too confused at what to do. You need to be convinced and prepared before u can succeed in a country with diverse culture, economic level and religious background. Be your own man! 3. Power? ----- u promised us 6,000 megawatts by december 2009 as d head of d presidential emergency committee on power. So was it dat u promised without understanding d issues on ground? How much money did your committee appropriate and how much work was executed? Any failed contracts and what did you do to recover our money. What lessons were learnt, any foreign expertise needed? e.t.c 4. Education?------ it is at d lowest ebb ever, check waec and neco results. All we have now are per-boiled graduates. But u go about promising universities with thinking of how to make at least one of the existing schools be amongst d top 1000 in the world. The children of the privileged travel to usa and europe,d above average go to south Africa, Ghana, togo, sudan and even benin but d children of the honest and probably poor are forced to read in nigeria where the lecturers are not appreciated. To make a living they sell handouts and d innovative ones get consulting jobs with blue-ship companies. The students now strive to make a name by applying for all d available reality shows in africa. The first class (lawyers, accountants, scientists and engineers) are employed 2nd class upper (administrators from any profession with MBA from Harvard et al).But u know what, their success depends on d policies formulated by 3rd class holders (d politicians). All of them must however bow to those with pass or dropouts who terrorise d peace of all with misdemeanour acts. Education has been turned upside down by 12 yrs of PDP. Bring education back to its glorious days when the best hands remained in the ivory towers passing knowledge to the next generations 5. Industry?----- the perfect alternative to education would have been to create viable opportunities for those with talents other than schooling to make a living. The richest men in d world did not go to school. Provide power and industrial sector would return to its glorious heights. Nigerians are not lazy and having worked and been to 33 states in Nigeria. I can tell u that poverty knows no religion or tribe, it is human!.We hardly have a made in Nigeria pencil not to talk of car. Shame! 6. Sports?-------- Gone are d days when Nigerians challenge for honours at world (not regional or commonwealth jamborees)level. When I was growing up,we read week in week out than Mary Onyali came 2nd in a 200m race in usa and Innocent Egbunike won d 400m race. The following week,we would here dat falilat just shattered d 400m African women record by beating a strong field to become the IAAF continental world champion or nduka odizor is in d 4th round(last 16) of wimbledon open in tennis. What do we have now? Court cases at all level of nigerian football, nfa (or nff),npl, womens league, amateur league.shame!Government must hands off our sport administration and allow private enterprises to run them. 7.Tourism?-----The most clement weather for tourists is in plateau state, such a great state with cool weather and nice fruits and crops with very accommodating indigenes. Also port Harcourt was truly a garden city b4 1999 where night life was fun, safe and refreshing. But all that is past and would never return if your style of leaderships where u do not engage in dialogue with honest intentions of resolving the varying problems. No sane person would travel to a place where peace is few and far between. 8. Security?-------- Security and tourism and inextricably intertwined and u must know and they are diametrically opposed to chaos, terrorism, kidnapping and commotion. The crisis in jos started under d watchful eyes of pdp in 2001 and 10 yrs after, it is getting worse. Leadership is no longer static and dictatorial, I expected you to move round d various states (prior to these electoral period as I earlier advised) addressing their issues first hand. A week's visit to jos to meet the religious and traditional rulers, indegenes, settlers etc would have resolved the problem there. But u went there only to campaign for votes. 9. Health?-----it is at its lowest ebb. To remember dat we lost Gani Fawehinmi, our greatest lawyer(and patriot) to a terminal ailment due to wrong diagnosis by one of the 'best’ hospitals in nigeria is the most ludicrous manifestation of the state of affairs of this sector. The best trained young doctors travel to usa and europe to work as nurses. While the very senior consultants and professors are in saudi arabia. 10. National Debt profile?------This was one of d few achievements of OBJ administration through d very energetic Dr Okonjo Iweala wherein our foreign debts were forgiven by the influential paris club et al. But alas debt profile has ballooned again at d federal with claims dat even state govts are also incurring debts with reckless abandon. Can we know Nigeria's debt profile as at Feb 28, 2011?Let us live within our means and ensure we secure the financial future of this country through prudent policies. 11. Foreign reserves?------ Even with the instability in d arab world and the upsurge in price of crude oil, what is d current value of our foreign reserves? This was over 38b USD in 2009.Where are we now? 12. Roads?------- It is a shame that federal roads are in a very horrible state and it is an aberration that all the ministers in charge are not in jail for the wanton looting of public funds which has resulted in 1000s of deaths and continues to kill innocent citizens nationwide. Please go to ghana, benin and togo to see the state of road. Lagos and gombe states are also there for you to see how road construction and maintenance should be executed. 13.Religious and ethnic tolerance?--------- Due to poverty of the soul, body and mind, selfish politicians throw the religious and ethnic cards, what do u get? The poor killing themselves in the name of ethnicity and religion. But I tell you that things are changing, borno is an example? You need to be firm to rule a nation like ours. When last did u consult d religious leaders? Have you made the council of elders meeting veritable for past presidents to come and advice u rather than being at d beck and call of only one of them. 14.Amnesty?------it was Yar'adua' achievement. 15.Fuel being available everywhere?----it would be stupid for any to be proud to say it is an achievement that the 7th largest producer of oil has now succeeded in preventing queues at her filling station. 16. Judiciary?----- The judiciary has been bastardised by politician who dangle carrots at these old, ’noble’ men of the bench. Remember that Late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua confessed that the process which brought him to office was fraudulent and flawed and this is still the mandate in which nothing has happened. 17.Agriculture-------- No nation can survive without food security. We used to be renowned for Palm kernal, cocoa, rubber and groundnut.Encourage the financial sector to support agriculture. Also, there must be harmony between farmers and herdsmen whose flock eat up plants of other farmers.Sign trade agreement with other countries and engender viable cooperatives. 18.Employment?------- Do you even have the statistics relating to unemployment. We do not see developmental projects which would have engendered employment. On what do you then spend the 52% of the nation's expenditure. Give us facts please! All those phantom neighbour2neighbour and 'project capture lagos' financial ravines won't take you to the promised land. We must know our leaders and their plans for us. War against corruption starts NOW,the train is rolling. GOD BLESS NIGERIA !!!! |

It all depends on the nature of the organization.I would not expect a bank front teller to be checking glued to NL and get unnecessary distraction. What I however expect is that organizations allow staff to unwind during break and after "official" closing hours. At the same time staff should do things in moderation. Service is excellence and this come with discipline. http://servicevows.com/viewarticle.php?intid=32 |
Amnesty deal Not linked to any corrupt act chikena! |
Becomerich, hmm this your map thing ehh, The first time I came across it, I felt here is one very intelligent guy and now i get the feeling that this is one crazy guy , you know the type that end up as serial killers or warlords (Who is watching crime and investigation/ the history channel with me?) Seun your intentions to set up this forum is beautiful but it has also given the mentally unstable a platform to speak. Becomerich, I believe that the North can do some things better than the south. At least some how contractors there tend to build good roads. Who has been to port Harcourt lately? Some may argue that its the terrain but the question is- do these contractors take into consideration the terrain and their abilities before bidding for a contract . As a nation if we think like becomerich, no be curse oh but richness shall be far away from us. Summary becomerich you graphs have become irritating!!!!!!!!!! Seun pls do something or you might just be breeding another Hitler on your site. |
tundysho:Comparatively,GTBank 'seems' to be one of the 'cleaner' banks but mature minds address issues not persons. 1.A bank is a financial adviser(not wreck) to her clients. 2.There are basic laid down procedures in granting out loans in line with the Basel 2 Accord. 3.A bank using prudence principle should not have waited for a customer to become 'bankrupt' and then help kill the customer. 4.What collaterals were tendered when the loan was granted? But remember that the collateral should only be recovered by the bank as a last resort if more loan repayment can't be financed operationally. 5.What monitoring strategy was put in place to ensure that the was not diverted for other uses e.g purchase of aircraft as against meeting working capital requirements. 6.Did the bank as financial adviser look at the operational/strategic risks of the clients when this deal was consummated. It was indeed the strategic risk which faltered on 2 grounds: a.VN thought they could alienate the local airlines from the nigerian market while using the virgin brand to gain more inroads to foreign routes. b.The deal favoured VA ab initio but Richard Branson was scared of our 'nigerianness'. 7.A bank should appreciate the operational intricacies in the industry of her clients before granting loans out.I remember when VN started, they used to stick to the timing of scheduled flights with barely 11-15 passengers for a flight which had a capacity of 90-110.They did not look into ways of filling the gaps as Aero is doing now with their promo. That is where ingenuity and tact comes in. In summary, understandably our banks in Nigeria do not appreciate the full import of operational risk, there merely focus on credit risk (if at all). Operational Risk simply put is: "The risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people and systems or from external events." Nigerian banks need to appreciate the role of shrewd operational risk management plays internally (for themselves) and for their clients. For bankers (I mean employees now). You should not be in a hurry like 'our' nigerian soldiers who only used to think of the short-cut to promotion (coup plotting). You should rather settle down to understand what banking is even thought you read accounting and came from an audit firm.Stop jumping from pillar to post Talking about auditors, have u ever fielded audit questions from auditors. They just seem to be ill prepared for the audit. It is always obvious from their questions that they did not go through the working papers and reports of the last audit. Why are we always in a hurry.Gush! For the shareholders, you need to put your heart where your money is.Don't use those glossy branches and flashes cars to base your judgement. If you did,no one would ever by union Bank Shares. But hey, they are big, strong,, dont ask me about the third one. Service is everything. WAKE UP NIGERIA! |
What Prof was condoning so that it does become obvious that his efforts are all faltering are now been unravelled barely 2 month in office by the risk manager. Why?He sent his team out to start probing all bank loans so he can have a true state of affairs. Result.Banksa re running helter skelter before been caught. More to come? OBVIOUSLY. We need to sanitise the system (financial industry and economy as whole from 'professionals' who simply cook books year after year). Watch out for the impact of uniform year end in banks! Where are d bankers in the house? Open your eyes. The revolution has commenced. |
Hi Y'all, Has anyone who wrote the Mobil HR analyst test been invited for an interview? Please anyone with useful info, ? |
Your deposit is intact once you get your stamped copy of the deposit receipt. This also applies to boxed cash (overnight deposit) where in the cash was due to be counted the following day.I have in fact witnessed in 2 instances where customers who were in the banking hall (with cash and could be genuinely verified by CCTV,staff and other means) when the bank was robbed were given full value of their cash. This is because the safety of customers and cash is the responsibility of the bank once they enter the banking hall.Any good bank would want not want to be seen as not taking safety seriously as this is one of the rights of the consumers as espouse by the United Nations. This and other related issues which would enable us enrish our knowledge base and draw us closer to 'sincere' service providers like banks in prompt resolution of issues should be constantly addressed. No bank would toy with your funds when they know you know your rights because they do not enjoy the embarrasment which litigation brings to their brand. Good luck in all your dealings! |
Prevented the gorrilas in the glass house (NFF) and LOC from squandering 'our' resource for the U17 World Cup.The budget was slashed considerably and yet we are still going to host the world. |
He is sorrounded by hawks who simply tell him what he wants to hear. 25 months and counting, no footprint! He needs to buckle up! |
Redman44, Great initiative,I like the spirit!.We need to enlighten ourselves more and get this and several other related issues addressed to get the service we truly deserve from the banks. Ifyalways, Experience has shown severally that simply writing to the manager and head of operations doesn't necessarily get the problem solved. What we really need is the will of the management to recede on this ludicrous strategy of milking the unsuspecting public. The branch manager can really do nothing if those charges are 'approved' by management. Benzion, Going to court doesn't always necessarily solve the problem. We however need to know our rights and get justice when it is impinged upon. But when the bank knows that you know your rights, your issues are promptly resolved and the relationship blossoms from then on. On our part,we've come up with a private initiative to bridge the communication gap which hitherto exists between customers and these banks. We tabled this issue with some of the banks and other service organizations and the support gained so far is encouraging.Without us,these banks would not exist and so they can no longer take us for granted. This revolutionary initiative would commence in August and fellow Nairalanders are encouraged to latch in on this 'service' and 'consumer rights' initiative which would change the landscape and tilt the power of influence back to the consumer. So truly concerned customers and service analysts should be ready to table their burning or thorny issues for resolution by the banks, and resolved they would be. We are ready to lose sleep until this is realised and would keep you posted on updates! |
The problem is multi-cated: 1.Most bankers don't have a life because they spend their life for the bank 2.Most banks do not have good staff welfare 3.The regulator (CBN et al) never worked at the lower level in a commercial bank,so they don't have a fell of the issues abating the industry because the bottom of the pyramid is the most critical 4.You do not really see many if any bank graduate working in banks. You can give what you don't have.Even if I read history and work in a bank, please train me. 5.The bank's are too competitive with little cooperation for the good of the economy e.g: No central credit rating monitoring body which checks the credit status of customers. No single location in nigeria having a form of industrial area as we have in agbara for manufacturing coys No proper checks on even the staff being employed, you see a staff who had criminal record in bank A but within months get a bumper offer from bank B based on fresh lies he provides durin interview.the loser in this case would be the CUSTOMERs this dude might defraud next and remember the customer only remembers the bank not the staff BOTTOM-LINE Customer service is dead in most banks No uniformity of operation in any single bank. Bank marketing in nigeira is emotional (who u know) not professional (what u have in your brains) ALL THESE BREED STRESS on the innocent banker but remember that the banking industry is still the pivotal employer of labour in nigeria 'Nough 4 now!!!!!!!!!! |
For me,it should be insurance industry. Low salary, limited public awareness and poor packaging by practitioners. What do you think? |
Its time for this generation to challenge the status quo. Do you 'vow to serve' at every opportunity? We must all wake up to save NIGERIA. |
Just wondering whether this guy has some( if not several) positive steps to move Nigeria forward. Do you agree? |
We've all been there before. Double charges Inflated charges Ficticious charges What do you really do when you receive these 'strange' charges? For me, I promptly complain and let them know I know my rights and what the regulations say. Remember, their slogan is always: 'vow to serve' But do they? |
While the north might have ruled more than any other part of the country, they've always had the backing of 'technocrats' from other parts advicing them and proferring 'solutions' to issues bothering the country. The real issue with the country is the will power of our leaders to do what they are asked to do.The primary reason why most of the leaders do not perform in public service include: 1.We never seem to get it right with elections (sorry selections) and appointments. rott When right choices are made, the result is always there for all to see.Take a look at lagos state now, even though there might have been other (if not better) credible candidates than his excellency Raji Fashola (SAN), the former governor, Ashiwaju Bola Tinunbu (FCA) seem to know what lagosians needed and gave him his blessings. Fashola seemed to be waiting for his chance to write his name in gold because the zest, will and focus with which he is working is first to none. And for his aides,he chose technocrats whom he expects to excel at their various portfolio.Ben Akabueze is of igbo descent but has the pedigree to perform as economic adviser. 2.Our Political Parties to not have any uniquely identifiable ideology. Political parties don't have underlining philosophies and ideologies and as such can not transmit same to their members. We all know that Late Chief Bola Ige was involved in the drafting of constitution for PDP,ANPP and ANPP.Same thought, same direction, different party, same result.Politician crisscross the political waters from boat to bost looking for what to reap. 3.Knowledge,fraud,corruption and wisdom are not reserved exclusively for any tribe in Nigeria. Corruption has only one name, Corruption! 4.Followers deserve the kind of leaders they get. When the nation for once forgot about religion or tribe,MKO Abiola won the June 12,1993 election on the same ticket with a fellow muslim. Are we ready to get it right again?.Time would tell. 5.The leaders get to office ill prepared. Without knowing what to do,you get to the office manipulated by the ever present and ready hawks who make you dance to their tunes.AGIP(Any Govt In Power) 6.There is massive foreign interference in our body polity and business life. This mafia dictate what happens in Nigeria and the objective?,"Never make Nigeria stand to prevent a radical african insurgence in the commitee of nations with respect to economy, infuence and direction at the global level". 7.We are not proud of Nigerianism.WWe are import dependent and do not encourage local enterprise. 8.Hypocrisy abounds Everyone seem to be holier that thou until he/she get to leadership position, either in the public service or at work.Only then shall you know them by their fruits. 9.Selfish Interests Why would the importer of power generating sets want PHCN to work? The summary of all these is that we need to know that the country is greater that her components and we need to serve well in every capacity either in private enterprise or public life so that the country can advance positively in all spheres of life. Do you vow to serve? |
