Let the illegal refineries build standard refineries to refine fuel....then the government can legalize them.

Don't let the governemnt come and legalise a illicit refinery that then explodes like the one that killed 100 people....

Making illegal refineries legal...without them becoming standard refinereis, that refine fuel to standard, instead of refining crude by burining it in a huge steel container over a fire...with the risk of explosion...is basically creating more problems...

Let the illegal refinereis get a loan or a grant, build standard minirefinereis, have their workers wear safety equipment and hard harts, and observe simple heath and safety checks...then the govt can come and legalize them

Either the boys get some money or loans together, get a technical partner, and start a proper refinery...with safety, and occupational health standards followed, refining proper quality petrol, or they get out of the business.

I still stand by my post. You no like...sorry. There is no way a refinery won't 'affect the atmosphere' by the way...and not all chronic occupational illnesses are caused by inhaling gasses.

1.That would lead to massive pollution in the Niger Delta...which already worsens the pre-exisitng pollution there. Note that Dangote before building his refinery did something called an Environmental iMPACT assessment test...which then guides how his refinery is built.

2.Many of those illicit refineries are NOT SAFE. And are prone to accident. Poeple would die....

3.Many of these refienries don't observe occupational health...meaning long term, more of the people working there are going to fall ill with chronic illnesses from exposure to pollutants...because an illegal refinery makes no provision for protection...either for workers, or in the building. And guess whose healthcare system is going to be burdened with the casualties...

4.The quality of the fuel is bad. If it is pumped into our cars, it would overtime damage our cars. Not now, not in 4 years, but eventually. (There is a reason why some marketers abroad advertise their fuel as engine protective...it has been refined to high quality). Bad quality fuel damages the cars

5.Who told ye they would pay taxes?

Guy, you made sense die. I once made this suggestion and one myopic urchin took a swipe at me. Woth one billion naira, you can set up a good modular refinery but the federal government knows what they're doing by limiting licences on modular refineries. There are people who can also pool funds together to achieve this.

Let me shock you. We went for a project done where in the Niger delta some years back. You'd have to get to that village via a canoe. No fuel close by. We depended on the diesel sold by these illegal refineries for 3 months to power pur generator. You know what? It was as quality as the one we bought and loaded inside our canoe the first time. I now asked myself, how much dies it really cost to bu8kd a good refinery?

Why not regulate them, encourage them by providing loan ti upgrade instead of destroying them in order to have your way on your illegal bunkering business? All of them can specialise in a particular product...like pms only, AGO only, DPK only, etc with strict monitoring to ensure compliance on quality? Na wah oo
