Aptly captured.
Most politicians especially in the North rode to power on the mantra of 'change' as proposed by the APC and personified in Buhari.
Change has failed, and Buhari is the perfect symbol of that failure.
These old politicians know politics will continue after the exit of Buhari, hence the subtle criticism of his administration. They are laying the foundation to claim in the future they spoke truth to power, and distance themselves from the failure this regime has come to represent.
On the flip side they need this administration to rig themselves or successor to power in 2023, hence the praise singing from time to time.
It's simply politics, they don't care about the masses.
