ehikwe22: READ THIS CAREFULLY AND TELL ME HOW DEIN SAID HE WAS FROM AGULERI
There was a report then that the Oba of Benin took custody of you then, can you confirm this ? Certainly, you can imagine that the Oba of Benin and Ooni of Ife were quite instrumental with the government of the day in making sure that I was crowned. Many people do not understand that the relationship between Benin and Agbor kingdoms is a very ancient one. We are direct blood brothers, so at that time, there was a lot of pandemonium, my life was at risk, the safest place for me then was to have stayed with my brother, the Oba of Benin.
Therefore, I was there briefly before they finally took me abroad. At what point in your life did you find out that you are a king?
From the moment I was born, I knew that I am a monarch to be, just like my son, he carries his royalty very well
. There was this succession battle while you were outside the country, how did it play out?
First, there was never anything like a succession battle, so you have two assumed facts that are very incorrect. We have a tradition here that dates back to 721 BC, which is our first dynasty of which I am the 19th monarch. From 1270 AD, the monarchy here is hereditary, so if you know that there is a hereditary monarchy and there was a vacuum, then there cannot be a succession battle. The interest then was simply a matter of the Regency Council; a regency council had to be in place to manage the affairs of the kingdom. Of course, the regency council is just like an authority, an agency, it is something that happens whenever there is a vacancy anywhere in this country, so everybody was very interested, that was simply what it was.

Politics › Gov Obaseki Inaugurates Committee To Develop Gelegele Seaport!! by BornStunner1(op): 6:28pm On Jan 20, 2017 |
Benin – Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo has said that plans were ongoing to develop Gelegele Seaport into a Container Terminal.
Obaseki disclosed this at the inauguration of a technical committee to oversee the development of the seaport at Government House in Benin on Thursday.
He said the state government was discussing with the Federal Ministry of Transport on the possibilities of making the seaport a container terminal.
According to him, making it a container terminal will boost revenue generation, create more jobs thereby boosting economic activities in the state.
He also said the location would also house an agro-industrial park that would increase exportation of agricultural produces from the state.
The governor said that the inauguration of the committee was one of the major steps taken by his administration to boost economic activities in the state and the country at large.
Obaseki said that the importance of developing the Gelegele sea port could not be overemphasized.
According to him, apart from the historical importance, gelegele seaport will play significant role for the future economic development of Edo “It will lead to promotion of trade and commerce and employment and lead to significant infrastructure development within the host community and environ,” he said.
He urged the committee to come up with a blueprint on how to actualise the state’s vision to create a viable seaport.
The terms of reference of the technical committee, advising the government on the feasibility of developing the seaport as an import and export zone.
To liaise on behalf of the state with relevant Federal Government agencies and other maritime related agencies, private sector participants and other shareholder, respectively.
The Chairman of the committee, Greg Ero, thanked the governor for the confident placed on the nembers to drive the process of developing the seaport. Ero assured the governor that the committee would not fail in the discharge of its dutiies.
“We are happy that you put this project of developing gelegele in the front burner of your economic policy of your administration. “Gelegele has been laying waste for centuries now; we thank you for your foresight to join hands with the Oba of Benin to develop it,” he said. http://nigerianobservernews.com/2017/01/gov-obaseki-inaugurates-committee-to-develop-gelegele-seaport/#.WIJH8UY1jqA

Politics › Police Summon Deji Of Akure Over Eze Ndigbo Crisis!! by BornStunner1(op): 4:52am On Jan 16, 2017 |
Akure — IN a bid to nip a brewing break down of law and order over the leadership of Igbo community in Ondo State in the bud, the state police command at the weekend summoned the Deji of Akureland, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo and the Eze Ndigbo, Sir Gregory Iloehika for interrogation.
While the Igbo community elected Iloehika as their leader, six years ago, the Deji of Akure has reportedly recognized one Kingsley Chukwuma as the new leader of the Igbo community. The Igbo, who are spoiling for war over the monarch’s action vowed to reject the imposed leader. Consequently, the state Police Commissioner, Hilda Harrison, summoned the two gladiators at the weekend to prevent breakdown of law and order.
The Secretary of Igbo Community in the State, Chief Alloy I.K Anolioyo said last night in Akure that; “It is the duty of the Ndigbo to elect a leader for themselves and they will not cede their duty to anyone else.
“As long as the Ndigbo in Akure recognize the Deji of Akure as the paramount ruler of the town, we will resist any plan to impose a leader on us
‘’The local governments are the primary units of Ohaneze Ndigbo with the Headquarters in Akure, the state capital saying the person chosen by the Deji as leader cannot represent the Igbo community as he was not chosen from the Local Governments.’’
The secretary said the Igbo community met with chiefs in the town and they were directed to choose another title for their leader aside Eze Ndigbo, which they were ready to comply with. However, speaking on the development, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo said the title of Eze Ndigbo was no longer in existence anywhere except the South East.
A statement signed by the association’s secretary, Chief Ugo Okakof and Public Relations Officer, PRO, Chief Chuks Umeh, said the authentic title of Igbo leaders outside Igboland is Onye Ndu Igbo (Igbo leader). They insisted that any one who parades himself as Eze Ndigbo violates the February 20, 2008 resolution passed by the South East Council of Traditional Rulers. The group noted that Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi’s installation of Chief Kingsley Chukwuma, as the leader of Igbo in Ondo State was in accordance with the resolution passed in 2008.
It noted that Oba Aladelusi has not committed any offence but only followed the proper procedure by recognising High Chief Kingsley Chukwuma, which the group said was generally accepted by all Igbo residents in the state and national leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo.
The group condemned an attack on Deji of Akure over the installation of Chukwuma, saying those sponsoring the attack are faceless and not members of Igbo community in Akure “This is capable of causing disaffection between the peace-loving and decent Igbo people in the state and their hosts.
“More importantly, it is clear from the publication that the actual beneficiary and apparent sponsor of the maligning story is one Gregory Iloehika who styles and parades himself as the Eze Ndigbo in Ondo State but actually not recognised by any Igbo Traditional Council.”
“The purported press statement referred to him as having †been “elected as Eze Ndigbo by the entire Igbo communities in the state since August 2011” and that any attempt to appoint another leader may lead to crisis.’’

Crime › Kidnapper Killed In Failed Abduction Of Ondo Monarch’s Wife!! by BornStunner1(op): 4:24am On Jan 16, 2017 |
Akure — A member of a kidnap gang was shot dead by police detectives in Ondo State after Grace Faduyile, wife of the traditional ruler of Ikoya in Okitipupa area of the state, was abducted yesterday afternoon.
The state Police Command spokesman, Femi Joseph, told newsmen: “Immediately the command received the information about the monarch’s wife’s abduction, a team of policemen went after the kidnappers in conjunction with the local hunters.
“The hoodlums later abandoned the victims and ran into the bush. But the combined team went after them and there was an exchange of fire which led to the death of one of them.
The others escaped with bullet injuries.” He added that the victim was rescued unhurt, while the policemen and the hunters were still searching for the fleeing members of the kidnap gang.
Meanwhile, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency, Mr. Mike Omogbehin, has described the kidnap attempt as an affront on the traditional institution in Ondo State.
Omogbehin, in a statement, condemned the kidnap attempt and called on the police authorities to provide adequate security for traditional rulers and citizens across the country.
He noted that the kidnap attempt on Mrs. Faduyile was an abomination in Ikale kingdom.
