I can't offer you professional advise seeing as i don't know exactly what you do and how taking a job might affect your career trajectory. The Japan offer looks and sounds good. A change in environment too is not a such bad idea and i think it might position you for better future offers.. Take the japan offer, you work in the senior role and you can always re-apply to the US job again if the position you want opens up. Taking a junior role with more money is not career growth. I am a traveler at heart, Japan it is.
