Eight donkeys have spent four days in an Indian jail for eating expensive plants.

They did not go for trial. They were summarily incarcerated as the illegal eating took place near a prison in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The animals were arrested after eating up “expensive” plants just outside the compound of the main jail in the state’s Jalaun district, over 200 km from capital Lucknow.

“Various types of saplings were planted in the jail premises for beautification. Those were damaged by the donkeys. Hence, I rounded them up,” jail chief, Sita Ram Sharma told the media.

The donkeys were freed on Monday after a local politician of the state’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intervened in the wake of a plea by the owner of the donkeys.

“For two days, I could not find my horses and donkeys. When I came to know that they are in jail, I sought the help from local BJP leaders to secure their release,” owner Kamlesh S. said.

The new solo artiste said he was influenced negatively as he would not act this way naturally.

The Harmattan season is here, and it's the time to be extremely careful with fire.

At least eight make-shift shops were gutted by fire in the popular Gowon Estate in Egbeda, Lagos.

The fire which began late Monday night and burnt till Tuesday morning, consumed shops attached to a Union Bank building on 411 Road Junction.

Report says the fire was noticed around 11:30pm on Monday when Ikeja Electric ceased power.

Most of the shop owners have closed and gone home as they are not resident of the estate.

However, youth had brought down the fire before the arrival of the men of the Lagos State Fire Service from Agege about two hours after.

Meanwhile, a dry cleaning shop, a mini-cold room as well as a provision shop run by an octogenarian had every item in them destroyed by the inferno.

No life was lost as the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly called Evans, got down from the Black Maria, this time at an Igbosere High Court, with cuffs in his hands. It is barely a week after his trial at the Ikeja High Court was adjourned.

He walked with his face down into the court.

Evans is familiar with the environment because he was there few weeks ago but for a different trial.

The court room again is full and security personnel are everywhere, as the man also called billionaire kidnapper steps into the trial room to face Justice A.A Akintoye.

Fresh charges have been filed against him and four other persons by the Lagos State government.

They are facing charges bordering on Kidnapping and attempted murder.

The two fresh charges are different from those filed before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo and those filed before Justice Hakeem Oshodi, at the same Igbosere court.

In the first case, Evans is being charged alongside Joseph Ikenna Emeka, Victor Aduka and Okpara Linus

In one of the charges, the state slammed a five-count charge of conspiracy to kidnap.

The last time Evans was at Igbosere court, the Lagos State government filed a seven-count charge and another two-count charge against him and others.

The seven-count charge bordered on murder, attempt to commit murder, Kidnapping, attempt to kidnap and sales and transfer of firearms while the two-count charge was for kidnapping and possession of firearms.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, Prof ABC Nwosu has resigned his position.

His decision follows the party’s woeful outing during last Saturday’s governorship poll.

The party suffered resounding defeat, coming a distant third behind the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nwosu was appointed in August following the dissolution of three parallel executives in the state.

The professor has served as Minister for Health prior to his appointment. During his swearing-in, he promised to deliver the state to the PDP.

Nwosu’s resignation has further thrown the party's chapter in the state into more crisis.

Few hours after his resignation, some party chieftains including members of the National Assembly, petitioned the National Chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi for a postponement of the state congress.

The petition to Makarfi is takes into consideration the loss at the poll and the death of former Vice President Alex Ekwueme.

Party members in the state are still trying to recover from a horrible weekend.

The petitioners also claimed that going ahead with the congress would make party members object of mockery as it would mean an insult to the memory of late Ekwueme.

The Super Eagles have dropped nine places from 41st spot to the 50th position in the world in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday by the world football governing.

This development is quite surprising for many going by the performance of the Nigeria national team in the period under review.

The Eagles secured a well-celebrated victory over Argentina in an international friendly as well as the 1-1 draw played out against Algeria in the final game of the World Cup qualifying series.

“Whether Senator Makarfi has Presidential ambitions or not, we are not aware of that. The National Caretaker Committee is not aware of that and we have not opened the floodgate for people to begin to aspire for the position of the president".

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Dayo Adeyeye said this in a press conference held at the party secretariat on Wednesday.

Adeyeye stated that the National Caretaker Committee is committed to the conduct of a credible and transparent convention, saying the allegation of working in favour of one of the candidates is unfortunate.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not even released the timetable for the presidential election”, said Adeyeye who added that the PDP is concerned with “Putting in place a new leadership for the party which we hope will come up or emerge latest by December 9 or 10.”

On the allegation by George that the NCC was taking the party back on the track of impunity, Adeyeye responded:

“It pains us that on the one hand, Chief Bode George who is fully aware of the pains we are still going through in Lagos in order to fairly and equitably carry everybody on board to the extent that we are being accused by others as siding with him is the same person accusing us of impunity.”

The Lagos state government seems to have finally woken up to his responsibility of ensuring traffic free roads.

It has started clearing Apapa and Mile 2 areas of illegal tankers and articulated vehicles parked on roadsides.

The government explained that the action is aimed at freeing Apapa-Oshodi Expressway of avoidable gridlock, especially during rush hours.

The General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Olawale Musa, said this after an inspection of the expressway.

He noted that despite a series of meetings the agency had with owners of tankers; some vehicles are still parked by the roadsides.

He said the government would not fold its arms and allow impunity to reign.

Residents of Afaha Oku Community in Uyo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom have asked state authorities to live up to their responsibilities and end cases of gully erosion.

The Chairman, Afaha Oku Village Council, Oscar Ekpanya, said that the residents of Akpan Eton and its adjoining street in Afaha Oku may be isolated from other communities if nothing urgent is done.

“It is quite disheartening to see many Akwa Ibom families lose their homes, as we fear the entire street may not survive the 2018 rainy season.

“In the interim, some of us who are badly threatened have strong need to relocate our families to safe areas until the erosion and the fast encroaching gully would have been taken care of.” the community said in a statement.

The community also appealed to the Niger Delta Development Commission intervene through a palliative measure to prevent further encroachment.

They also expressed fear that the area may not survive the next rainy season.

A new cashew factory has been inaugurated by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

The cashew processing factory was built by FoodPro Nigeria Limited.

The Vice President, who was conducted around the factory by the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Ayo Olajiga, affirmed the government's resolve to ease the process of doing business in Nigeria.

Osinbajo was accompanied by Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara; the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and the Director General of BOI, Waheed Olagunju.

So far, 400 people have been employed with 90% of them being women.

He said the factory was expanded to produce 5,000 tonnes of processed cashew nuts a year.

Olajiga explained that most of the company’s outputs were exported to the United States of America (USA) and local stores in Nigeria.

He said the choice of Kwara State for the factory was because of raw material coupled with the state government’s friendly business policies.

Burna Boy's management have denied the musician's involvement on the attack and robbery of Mr 2kay.

The denial comes after the Lagos State Police commissioner stated that Burna Boy was a person of interest in the on-going investigation into Mr 2kay's robbery and assault at Eko Hotel last month.

The commissioner also publicly announced that Burna Boy hasd been named by arrested suspects as the mastermind of the alleged crime.

He had declared him wanted and asked that he should turn himself in at any police station.

In response, Burna Boy's management 'Spaceship Entertainment', issued a statement saying, "Burna Boy, is not in any way involved with the robbery and beating up of Mr 2kay".

They did not, however, state whether Burna Boy had turn himself in or when he would do that.
The statement said that Burna Boy had already reported to the Police and was willing to cooperate, because he was innocent of all charges.

Many worshippers were on Tuesday killed when a suicide bomber detonated his explosive at a mosque in Mubi, Adamawa State, during morning prayers.

The suicide attack occurred around 5:20am local time, at Kunu Araha, a suburb in Mubi North.

It was allegedly triggered by a yet to be identified teenage boy who set off the suicide vest he was wearing.

Adamawa police spokesman, Othman Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, said more than 30 persons lost their lives in the dawn mosque attack.

“We were made to understand that there was a bomb blast at a mosque in Mubi and over 30 lives were lost. A boy about 17-year-old wearing a suicide vest entered the mosque along with other worshippers.

"Immediately after the prayers, he detonated the bomb. Many of the wounded are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Mubi North where the attacks occurred around Kunu Araha area” he said.

He noted that several other persons wounded in the attacks are receiving medical attention at various medical hospitals in Mubi Town.

Speaking on the attack, the chairman of Mubi North Local Government Area, Musa Bello, said “the suicide bomber struck at the mosque during the morning prayer. Though for now we are still compiling the casualty figure, reports say that over 15 to 20 people were reported killed.”

While details of the blast are still sketchy, Governor Muhammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow has condemned the unfortunate incident.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Press and Media Affairs, Martins Dickson, Bindow expressed described the incident as “an act of wickedness perpetrated by criminals who are bent on destroying the hard earned peace in Mubi and other parts of the state.”

“We will continue to ensure that our people are protected and given a sense of security which is the most important responsibility of any government.

“We have also engaged all security agencies to ensure that this type of wicked act does not repeat itself in any part of the state.”

The governor also called for calm among residents, assuring that security had been stepped up in Mubi and its environs and that his government would not rest until those behind the wicked act are brought to book.

There is fire on the mountain

Few weeks into the start of new season, the team manager of Lagos darling team, Mountain of Fire Ministries Football Club of Lagos, Sunday Ojieh, has thrown in the towel.

A spokesperson for the club, Olawale Quadri, who confirmed the resignation, said that the departure of the astute manager was sudden.

According to him, Ojieh has moved on and the club would find a suitable replacement as soon as possible.

“He resigned this morning but not with any official statement, he told us he is moving on. We are yet to have a replacement for him.

“But we will get a replacement for him as soon as possible because we don’t want to leave room for a vacuum.”

Ojieh was part of the backroom staff that guided MFM FC to the second place finish during the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Senator Ali Ndume may be back in the senate following his six-month suspension, but things won't get back to normal just yet for him.

Senate president, Bukola Saraki during the plenary session ignored the special requests of the returning senator who resumed on Wednesday from his six-month suspension by the Senate.

Ali Ndume had wanted his return to be grand but he did not get his wish.

The points of order he raised were all waved aside by the Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Ndume, on Wednesday, raised a point of order to speak on the North-East Development Commission and the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

He said, “You know that I have been away for seven and a half months and today, we all know that in my absence, we lost distinguished Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was sitting right behind me and I used to call him my landlord. I didn’t have the opportunity to pay my tribute. I want to appeal to this Senate to, again, stand for a minute silence and pray for the repose of his soul.

“Secondly, also in my absence, the much-desired bill for the establishment of the North-East Development Commission sponsored by myself and distinguished Senator Kabiru Gaya was signed into law by Mr. President.

“Also in my absence, this Senate magnanimously and unanimously sponsored a bill for the adequate funding of that commission. In view of that, I want to thank everybody who contributed in one way or the other. But most importantly, I want the house to observe a minute silence in honour of our brother, Isiaka Adeleke.”

Did you know that in Australia and many other parts of the West, women eat placenta?

Most women who eat their placenta depend on myths that eating the placenta in any form reduces the risk of postpartum depression, boosts milk supply and that it replenishes vital nutrients.

Women have devised a way of making the placenta easy to eat and apparently delicious.

The trend is to have their placenta made into capsules and they will swallow it.

Worried about the trend and the health implications, an Australian researcher, Bryony McNeill, who is a lecturer in Reproductive and Developmental Biology at Deakin University, began researching into this crude act and the effect the process will have on the organ after birth.

McNeill wants mothers to desist from eating their own placenta because it could be harmful to them and their baby.

“There is no evidence to support claims that eating the placenta in any form reduces the risk of postpartum depression, boosts milk supply or that it replenishes vital nutrients," says researcher McNeill.

McNeil warned that, in fact the placenta may be a source of potentially harmful toxins and bacteria.

She explained that during pregnancy, the placenta regulates the transfer of substances between mother and baby. During this time there can be an accumulation of potentially toxic substances can occur.

In the research, McNeil found that there was a lack of evidence on the benefit of eating the placenta which is a potentially risky behaviour.

To date, there have only been a few small studies examining the toxicity profile of placenta capsules.

“The main safety concern is that we just don’t have a lot of evidence yet, there’s no clear evidence showing a benefit for eating the placenta and there are some research papers out to show potential bacterial contamination,” McNeill said.

Earlier this year, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US issued a warning against the increasing trend in Western countries.

A case report published by the CDC showed the bacteria B Streptococcus agalactiae (GBS) was identified as the cause of sepsis – blood poisoning – in a young infant born five days earlier in Oregon.

Investigations later revealed placenta capsules consumed by the newborn’s mother tested positive for the bacteria.

Part of the heating process involved in encapsulating the placenta is believed to kill many harmful bacteria, but the issue is there is a lack of regulation regarding this new market.

"Some companies offer it as a commercial service but there is also a lot of DIY websites out there for women to do it themselves, so there is the potential there that you could get bacterial contamination if it’s not performed properly," said McNeill.
McNeill advises that aside from bacteria, there is also the possibility of other toxins contaminating the capsules and women should be cautious about these products.

"The research that we have available is that we have no demonstrated benefits and there is the potential for harm. So, I would certainly be encouraging women not to be eating their placenta."

All hell broke loose in Ibadan on Monday after students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Apata, Ibadan and officers of the Nigeria Police Force clashed.

The students were said to have trooped to the Ibadan-Abeokuta Expressway around 6.30am, blocking the main road linking Oyo and Ogun states, with many motorists forced to take alternative routes to their destinations.

It was learnt that the rector invited the police when the students, who were protesting against the school's management system, blocked the main road.

They were said to be calling for the removal of the Provost of the school, Dr Babajide Adenekan, after a disagreement between Adenekan and members of the school’s Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, Non-Academic Staff Union and the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions.

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, said four cops were admitted to a hospital while eight police vans were also damaged in the clash.

While revealing that the police had arrested five students for their involvement in the clash, Odude said there had been several meetings between the school authorities, the students and the police on how to resolve the crises in the school.

The students, however, claimed that the police shot at them during the protest with some of them sustaining gunshot injuries. They also said a lecturer was injured in the clash.

Six days to the Anambra governorship election, five leading candidates have presented their programmes to the electorate.

The candidates are Dr. Tony Nwoye of All Progressives Congress (APC); Governor Willie Obiano of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA); Dr. Oseloka Obaze of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Godwin Ezeemo of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA); and Osita Chidioka of United People Party (UPP).

Answering questions during a debate organized by Channels TV on Sunday, the candidates took turns to address issues relating to the economy, infrastructure, governance and Biafra agitation.

The Incumbent

Obiano said he grew the Anambra State economy by N1 trillion from N2.8 trillion in the administration of his predecessor to N3.98 trillion within three and half years in the office.

The APGA candidate stressed that prior to his administration, insecurity had eaten deep into the economic fabrics of the state, saying that within a year, he arrested insecurity which gave rise to influx of investors, social and economic activities.

He said, “69 people were kidnapped in the previous administration, but now, people are enjoying, walking freely and bringing traditional marriages home.

“The security in the state has attracted wealth to the state. Today, Anambra gets a billion naira every month."

He also claimed his policies are working and the state is among the few that are not owing salaries.

"I have maintained constant payment of salary. My policies prevented Anambra from experiencing recession.”

Obiano declined to speak on the quarrel between him and his predecessor, Peter Obi, who has been leading the campaign against him through the candidature of Obaze, the PDP governorship candidate.

He, however, said a demand to pay certain amount of money was made on him for allegedly funding his campaign but he declined because they did not owe any body.

Obiano said, “Yes, there was an agreement between I and Peter Obi but I declined the agreement.”

The 'Roads' Man
Nwoye on the other hand announced that he would industrialise Anambra State by attracting foreign investors.

He said he will pay adequate attention to power when elected. Nwoye said his administration would anchor on education, health, housing, infrastructure, and portable water.

“I will bring good roads and portable water to the people. I will build vast roads especially in the rural communities to connect other agrarian communities to expedite exportation.”

Nwoye debunked the allegation associating him with cultism and vandalism, saying he had been protecting the rights of the people as an activist.

He said part of the reasons he wants to be governor is to block wastages and cut excessive appointments of redundant SA’s and SSA’s in government.

Obi's Annointed
The candidate of the PDP, Obaze, said what Anambra needs is a serious government that would focus on the people and make education its top priority.

He said only a man with integrity operating in a peaceful environment will attract the needed development to Anambra State.

Obaze stated that he would fix the state to retain its glorious position which it had lost.

"I believe this state is no longer working. We need to take our children back to the school through free education. We need good governance. we will do local government election within six months."

The Fresh One
Chidoka said vision for contesting the governorship position is to change the bearing and infrastructural decay in the state.

"Anambra state ranks 37 out of 37 in terms of corruption. so, we will apply vision, execution and sustainability. we will apply the concepts of Uche (Consciousness)."

He said his decision to support the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu is not to gain political support but to ensure that the constitution and the law takes its cause.

Chidoka also said that, “Groups have the right to express grievances but if done against the law, then the law should take its course.”

Chidoka also talked about his decision to run with UPP. According to him, “The UPP approximates my thoughts and believes at this time.

"Nigerian state is a product of negotiation. I believe that when Nigerian components freely subscribes with negotiation, then we will have a better country.

"My desire to become governor is to make education of our children supreme.

The Business Man
The Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) candidate, Godwin Ezeemo, believes that investing in the people of the state is the best way to achieve development.

He said his decision to run is not a matter desperation, but a matter of necessity, noting Anambra is in trouble

"I am a business man. I have decided to come down, sacrificing my comfort zone to work for Anambra.

"We will ensure that police and civilians work together to ensure better security. I will work for skill-bades education because am an industrialist."

Unfortunately, none of the candidates spoke specifically about "how" they intend to transform the state using the right strategies

Popular Lagos-based human right activist and lawyer, Ikechukwu Ikeji has passed away, aledeh.com reports.

He died on Sunday evening, November 12, 2017.

Ikeji who was also a Pastor at The City Of Light Church (TCOLC), Ijesha, Lagos, attended the Sunday service and did not complain of any issue during and after the church service.

He later attended a dinner hosted by his church after the service and that was where trouble started.

Aledeh reports that the lawyer went upstairs after the dinner and was seen coughing and vomiting a few minutes later.

He was rushed to an undisclosed hospital and was later pronounced dead by doctors on Sunday night, November 12.

The actual cause of death has not been known as the hospital is yet make a statement regarding it.

Ikechukwu Ikeji left behind his wife and three sons.

He was founder of Ikechukwu Ikeji and Co. law firm located at 16, Fadeyi Aladura Steet, Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have threatened to kill anyone who attempts to vote in the November 18 Anambra governorship poll.

The members of the proscribed body on Friday took to the streets of Onitsha, the state’s commercial capital, and vowed to disrupt the electoral process.

In a short video, the members asked residents to stay in their homes because “there will be no election”.

They said, ““If you vote you will die. Don’t go out, stay in your house. If you vote on November 18, you will die. We are not running around for the zoo.

“There will be no election. We will not participate, we will not vote. Nothing concerns us with any election. We are formidable.

“We are in Onitsha to tell the federal government to produce Kanu. They should release all the Biafrans in Nigerian prisons.”

Emma Powerful, the group’s media and publicity secretary, said the Onitsha demonstration is to show the world IPOB is still strong and is not intimidated by the federal government.

“Today in Onitsha, we broke the python Buratai, Ohanaeze, Obiano and Igbo governors brought to our land. Anybody doubting the resolve of IPOB under the supreme command of Nnamdi Kanu is mistaken.

“We will put Anambra State on lockdown on November 18. This is a taste of what is to come. Nigeria should be prepared.

“It is also very critical to inform every Biafran, be you IPOB family member, businessman, farmer, artisan, driver, teacher, doctor, motorcycle/tricycle union, civil servant, trader, market leader, National Union of Road Transport Workers, National Association of Road Transport Owners, fisherman, market men and women, including politicians who believe in freedom and liberty of a free independent State of Biafra, to boycott the Anambra State election,” he told The Punch.

“They will be morally bound to consider a possible date for Biafra’s referendum for independence without delay. A vote in Anambra elections will mean electing into office the same people who, over the years, have been responsible for the death, pain, misery, agony and suffering of our people. We would have only succeeded in renewing our suffering for another four years,” he added.

In response to this, both the police and army have mobilised a large contingent to maintain law and order.

For the second time in a week, 'billionaire kidnapper', Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans has lost an appeal to quash charges preferred against him and others suspects.

Evans lost again on Friday at the Lagos High Court in Igbosere.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo threw out two applications filed by Evans to stop his trial.

The judge said the applications lacked merit.

These charges that the defence counsel wanted quashed are separate from the ones the Ikeja division of the Lagos High court throw out days ago.

After the judge's decision, charges were read and Evans again pleaded not guilty.

On November 3, Justice Hakeem Oshodi, at the court in Ikeja threw out an application to quash the trial, insisting that Evans should face trial over charges preferred against him by the Lagos State government.

The 'billionaire kidnapper' is facing charges of conspiracy and kidnap of one Duna Donatus at the Ikeja court.

Ruling on an application brought by Evans to quash the two count charges, Justice Oshodi, said a prima facie case had been established against him.

Justice Oshodi ruled that there was no merit in Evans's application and ruled it out.

Victor Moses has successfully navigated his way through the 'Red Sea of injury' and resumed training after a spell on the sidelines.

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) once again has been accused of making an All Progressive Congress (APC) government under perform.

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has blamed the party for the inability of his government to pay full salaries to workers for the past 26 months.

The Commissioner for Information, Adelani Baderinwa, gave the governor's position in a statement issued on Thursday in reaction to the 21-day strike notice given to the governor by the Council of Academic Staff Unions of Osun State Owned Tertiary Institutions.

The lecturers had lamented that many of their colleagues had died as a result of hardship occasioned by half salaries and the high tax regime.

Apart from welfare issues, the lecturers also lamented lack of well-equipped laboratories, toilets for students and poor condition of roads in the two polytechnics and 2 colleges of education owned by the state.

But the commissioner, who blamed the financial position of the state on the alleged maladministration of the last PDP government appealed to the lecturers to bear with the state government.

Baderinwa said the governor was not happy paying modulated salaries to some categories of workers but he assured them that the situation would change immediately the finances of the state improved.

A bill seeking to prohibit the activities of secret cults scaled third reading at the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

The substance of the bill is the prescription of the death penalty for those found guilty of breaching the law in that regard.

Persons found guilty of aiding and abetting cultism would also bag life imprisonment.

All that is left is for it to be signed into law by the governor.

The new provision was an amendment to the law against cultism, enacted by Ayo Fayose during his first tenure as governor of the state.

The law had provided a seven-year imprisonment for anyone convicted of cult activities, whereas those aiding and abetting the act were to be imprisoned for five years.

The bill titled, ‘Secret Cult (Abolition and Prohibition) [Amendment] Bill, 2017,’ gained the lawmakers' attention following increase in cult activities at the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti which led to the killing of students recently.

Before the passage, the House Leader, Akinyele Olatunji, recalled the killings at the university due to cult activities.

“We will not allow any group to turn Ekiti into death trap area,” he said, while thanking the governor, Ayodele Fayose, for introducing the bill.

“We cannot fold our arms while some people would constitute themselves as a menace and eliminate the lives of innocent people of this state,” speaker of the house, Kola Oluwawole, said, while making his remarks on the bill.

“It is an everlasting sorrow for someone to lose his child or relative. The bill will reshape the lives of our youth. It will ‘touch’ those who intend to join any secret cults and those who have the intention to take another person’s life.

“Those people that we are representing will have peace of mind that their lives and those of their children are safe. The bill considers very seriously the negative consequences of such action because of the irreparable loss of lives.”

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) has claimed that 2 of its members lost their lives when police shot at them during the annual Arba’een trek at the weekend.

A statement signed by the spokesman for the group banned in Kaduna State, Ibrahim Musa, said the armed policemen were deployed to stop the group from conducting their procession.

He said: "We started the trek from Kofar Mazugal within the Kano metropolis, where armed mobile policemen arrived the scene and started firing teargas and eventually live bullets which led to the death of a male and female members of the group".

The police are yet to make an official statement on the matter.

There are reports that the Kano Command of the Nigeria Police has since banned any procession, including religious and political agitations that may likely results to tensions among the good people of the state.

After the group clashed with officials of the Nigerian Army in 2016, Kaduna State government banned their activities, but the group has continued to function in other states.

The Ambassador on Thursday regained his freedom after spending 30 days in the hands of his abductors.

He was reportedly released by his abductors in the early hours of Thursday in Benin City.

He was kidnapped on October 3 shortly after he performed at the one-year coronation anniversary of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II.

His first son, Osayomore Joseph Jr, who confirmed his release to journalists, expressed joy with the development.

“My father has been released but he is not too healthy, so he is currently in the hospital taking treatment.

“It has not been easy for us as a family, but we thank God he is back home.

“We are trying to give him the best medical care he deserves.

“It has been very traumatic for us and not a good situation that you can even pray for your enemy. We thank God he is home alive,” he said.

Chairman, Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Edo chapter, Willy Eghe-Nova also confirmed the release of Osayomore .

Eghe-Nova said the association was happy over the release and congratulated the family and the people of the state, who have been yearning for his safe return.

Is this another case of ransom paid or the police did their work?

13 days after Ganiyu Adisa the popular clock repairer in Egbeda, Lagos State, was declared missing, he has returned home
“Ganiyu is back, he has come back home”!

That was Hakeem, the Islamic cleric of the Egbeda Central Mosque, exclaiming on the phone when he called to inform Bounce News of the safe return and an end to sleeps days and nights for family and friends.

Alfa Hakeem as he is popularly called could not contain his joy as he was narrating how the missing Ganiyu, suddenly re-appeared after 13 days.

Ganiyu was said to have come to work on Thursday, October 20 full of life and with big expectations.

The 35-year-old resumed at his duty post in front of the Egbeda Central Mosque, Lagos State like every other day hoping for the best.

Ganiyu, who is also an Islamic cleric, had a customer who came to have his wall clock fixed. He gladly asked the customer to sit down while he got to work.

Few minutes later, Ganiyu stopped, looked at the customer and said “Oga, I have to get to Iyana-paja to get some of the parts for your wall clock.”

In a twinkle of an eye, Ganiyu dashed off while informing his co-traders and the customer that he will be back in a bit.

That was the last they saw of him as he never returned to complete his assignment.

Everyone waited for his return as minutes turned into hours, hours into days, but it seemed they were waiting for Goddot.

One-Chance

Hakeem while narrating what happened explained that Ganiyu entered a disguised commercial bus operated by kidnappers along the Iyana-Iba to Iyana-paja axis.

"As soon as Ganiyu entered the bus, he became unconscious, dizzy and slept off".

He said Ganiyu was kidnapped alongside some other unsuspecting passengers and taken to Ogbomosho for ritual purposes.

Ganiyu and others were there for days without knowing what fate had in store for them.

He said after 13 days, the kidnappers took Ganiyu and dropped him along a bush path somewhere in Osogbo.

Perhaps he did not qualify for what they intended to use him for or his head was too strong as they say in local parlance.

Speaking further, Hakeem said, “Ganiyu was charmed as he did not how he got to the bush path in Osogbo. All he remembered was that he entered a bus going to Iyana-Iba.

“As soon as the kidnappers dropped him and left, he regained his consciousness and found his way back to Lagos”.

When Bounce News sought to speak with Ganiyu himself, who is yet to resume at his duty post, Hakeem said he has gone to see his parents but promised to get in touch as soon as he returns.

The clock can stop ticking now….Ganiyu is back!
