You might want to work on a strong SOP analyzing your job prospect back home with an MBA. Talk about your passion for the field and how an MBA degree can be translated back to Nigeria. Tell them the MBA admission was not easy to obtain, that the school vetted you seriously and you had to justify your purpose of visit to the school before an admisssion was extended to you. Tell them your husband is your world and you are all one one knit family; that the only reason why you are going to Canada is because you cherish education and will get the best of it wherever it can be found. Argue and show why you are absolutely a genuine student who can be counted to study at designated institution and return back to Nigeria if extended the privilege of a student visa. Good luck!

Amen
Will do that
Thanks alot
Frankrobbn1:

BoystoMen,

Madam, start working on presenting a rational SOP/LOE before the arrival of your CAIPS file because that's only what I can see that went wrong in your previous refused application, for any further advise I dish out to you, will be based on guess until we see your CAIPS file. When you're done with your SOP/LOE you can possibly pm some experienced individuals here to assist in reviewing them for you. Also endeavour to share your CAIPS file once you've successfully acquired it, so we can pick it up from there.

It shall end in praises next time!

Please can i send my SOP to you wen am done so you could help me go through?
jnyuwa02:

Next time you apply, please make it simple. Only LOE or SOP needs to be submitted and not both. Don’t go arguing too much and belaboring on finances, that was not the issue they had with you. Hit the nail straight on the head and keep it concise, short and straight to the point. In effect, offer an effective rebuttal of the reasons checked against you in the generic form and GCMS notes. You do not need to have travelled to get approved, many who are approved never travelled. If your mission for an education is inspirational, you will sail through and travel history will go away. Don’t say you were bugged down with work. Rather, say you have been busy with the exciting jobs of motherhood and juggling job at the same time and have never felt a need to travel but now at the appropriate time when kids are a little grown up. You need a consent letter from their father. Show that you have what it takes to succeed in school in Canada having successfully juggled motherhood and job at the same time in Nigeria. Best wishes!

Hi Nairalanders,

My second time posting this, can someone help with answer this below:

I decided to go the online route.

Please for the online application form for my kids, do I have to choose ''studying'' or choose ''visit.''
My kids will be staying with me.

I noticed that what i chose to study it generates a ''study permit application form.'' My kids are 5 & 6. I am not also sure what to fill in the school name and other details.

My question is do i say they are studying or do I choose ''visit?''

If I choose ''study'' it is asking me questions about their school etc.

Please help. what do i choose and fill?

Can somoene who has filled an online study application for kids advise me, please?

I have written on this before. A sound SOP must be well paragraphed and each must serve a purpose. It must contain the following:

Brief introduction of yourself, your academic background and work experience.

Your intending program, school, start date and duration.

Reasons for choosing the program. Reasons for choosing the school. Reasons for choosing Canada instead of doing the program in Nigeria. How will the program benefit you and your country? Narrow the benefits to economic, academic or career.

Is your undergrad degree related to your intending program or your work experience? This must be addressed.

What are your goals? Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Have your traveled out of Nigeria before? If no, why? Maybe your hobby is not traveling. Or your work doesnt allow you to travel. Whichever reason that applies in your case, give.

How do you intend to finance your studies in Canada? Scholarship? Self-sponsor? This must be stated with proof (SOA or sponsorship letter) shown.

Home ties: Are you married? Do you have kids? Are they going with you? Do you have investments in Nigeria like company, landed property etc? These are home ties.

Make a checklist of all the documents you're submitting with your application.

A well written SOP addresses all the denial reasons: purpose of visit, travel history, insufficient fund, home tie, asset & current employment situation etc.

Goodluck.

Thank you
Yes
I studied business administration
And applied in a university for MBA
I have 7 years experience in banking as a relationship manager
mcobex:
Get your case file then we will see. But from your profile, I noticed you didn't mention if your intended programme is related to your previous programme and also your place of work. What is the relationship between the three? cos the vo ticked "purpose of visit" which is mostly ticked when intended programme is not related to previous one or working experience.

Theses will really help

Sorry for taking your time
In my last SOP i stated that i plan setting up a consulting firm once i return but i didnt attach any proof
Do you think i should attach evidence ob that?
Me getting proof of leave witout pay from my office will it complicate issues
Since i didnt mention leave in my previous application
Thank you

Hello @BoystoMen,

I think you should address travel history. Yes, you are right about the fact that travel history is not a problem as many have gotten study permits and TRV's with zero travel history.

But since it was flagged, if I were to play the devil's advocate as a VO, maybe they may be thinking that you are very comfortable, with so much money in your account you are a middle or high-class elite as you and your hubby is doing very well.

Then if that is the case, why have you not traveled out of Nigeria before for maybe work or a vacation?

Now you are considering traveling, why is Canada the first place you choose to go to? why not another country? Why can't you do an MBA here in Nigeria?

So addressing these areas in your SOP and may stating that your job hasn't required you to travel or maybe you have been tied down with work bla bla bla will convince the VO in your reapplication. This will also clarify the purpose of study.

Add this, look at your notes once it arrives, add other suggestions from other people here and you will be fine.

I wish you success.

Thanks for your reply
Grateful
I understand your point
But my kids were not mentioned atall and funds wasnt an issue
My colq at work left with 2 kids without any issue
She even had 10years experience
I appreciate your concern
But can you suggest what i can include in my SOP and LOE that will give me more chances
Since i was given oppurtunity to reapply if i can address the following issues
Travel history
Purpose of visit
Tie to home country and canada
Am waiting for the notes
But am putting up one or 2 things together before it comes
I appreciate
Slik07:

I looked at your profile and there is nothing I can see that you need to improve. On home tie? You have your husband as home tie, yet you were denied.

Travel history is not a major reason, after all many applicants have been approved without it.

Here, I'm thinking like a VO. You want to travel to Canada for MBA with 3 kids...how are you going to cope with them and your studies? Or you want to use it as an avenue to migrate to Canada? This is a VO thinking. With EE you would pay local tuition fee and your kids would have free education, yet you want to follow student permit route where you'll pay more. The VO is thinking why you dont want to follow this path with your 7 years work experience?

Anyway, it is your right to make a decision.
Goodluck to you and your family.

Thanks soo much
Yes i included their birth certificates with their last term school result
Have never travelled before
I heard travel history wont be an issue if my SOP is strong
Please what do you advice i do to address that part
Can i explain have been tired down with work abd have not had the time to travel and just decided to further my studies
Please help me out on that
Because i intend applying once i get my notes
Am to resume in september
goingforward:

Hi BoystoMen,

In addition to what Frankrobbn1 said,

Just to ask, have you traveled anywhere else outside of Nigeria before?
Did you include birth certificate of your children?LAGOSIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca
An SOP would have addressed and explained the reasons which may have led to the refusal, like explaining why the program why now, why canada?

Because i think from the POF you are in good standing.

My thoughts.

Thanks soo much for the reply
Yes
I added SOP and LOE but i think it wasnt convincing enough
I addressed all academic gaps and yes have been working in the bank for 7yrs and my first degree is business administration and am going for MBA
My husband explained that he will be taking care of all our expenses while i school and thats why i got a daycare soo why i will be studying my kids wont be a problem
And he dosnt intend coming over as he has a very good job
He attached payslips and employment and offer letter
Maybe i should just wait for the notes
What do you think will likely be the problem
Am soo grateful for your concern
Frankrobbn1:

BoystoMen,
Was your proposed program reasonable inlight with your previous education/job role?, were you able to link them on a rational letter of explanation?.

More so, from the list of documents provided by you, I can't find an SOP/LOE that will explain the following to the visa officer:
1-) Academic and career profile.
2-) Why the program of choice.
3-) The school of choice.
4-) Why Canada and not Nigeria considering the high cost of foreign education.
5-) Financial provisions, how you intend to finance your studies while in Canada.
6-) Home ties in Canada and country of residence, what can compel your return home after studies.
7-) Future/career goals, What you intend to achieve at the end of the program and how it might benefit you in future and to your home country Nigeria.

You don't need to worry showing any property in your name, as your hubby whom will be staying back in Nigeria is a very strong tie to your application, it's left for you to address this issue on your SOP/LOE for the visa officer to understand as they are not custodians of knowledge.

It's fantastic to see you've successfully ordered for your CAIPS file, we will take it up from there upon the arrival of this note.
Once again, sorry about the outcome of your last visa application.

It shall end in praises next time!

Travel / Re: Nigerian Students In Canada: How Do You Survive? by BoystoMen: 9:11pm On May 13, 2018

you might want to google it up as cost varies across towns and province. Using the town I live as an example, a 1 bed apartment would cost at least $850/month. I deliberately excluded basement apartment cos of the children. Feeding, bills, upkeep for a family of three would not be less than $500 dollar a month. daycare around ($750-$1000 per child). You don't pay school fees once your child starts school though (above 5yrs old).
Good day
Has your wife applied?
Am in the same position with you
Appplied with 3 kids
Travel / Re: Nigerians In Kamloops.... And Those Hoping To Study At Thompson Rivers Uni.. by BoystoMen: 9:28pm On Mar 26, 2018
Dear All,

Its a great privilege to be in this forum as am a new member on this platform. I was given a Conditional Offer of Admission into Thompson rivers University to study MBA, after meeting the requisite requirement as a condition for Acceptance letter, my payment is still yet to be seen by the school. I did a Form A transfer on the 3rd of March 2018 but the school is still saying they are yet to see my payment. Please what can I do in this instance. I have send them the Telex copy for confirmation still they are insisting that until they see the payment they cannot give me Acceptance Letter. It is close to a month that this payment was made and was given the Telex copy for confirmation by the Bank.

I paid an equivalent of 2million plus for the first semester, it is not a small money to joke with in this hard time.

Your suggestion and advice from the experience members will be appreciated.

regards.
