In the early hours of Thursday, June 20 gas explosion rocked a gas shop causing fire to spread throughout the shop.

The incident occurred in Akim market, Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to Brainnews said; “the Fire Service first tanker couldn’t ceased the fire until the cylinder was forced out and the fire was ceased. Thank God the fire didn’t consume anyone.”

At the time of this report, the fire has been brought down.

A mother has tore off her nine-year-old son’s penis with the help of her lesbian lover. Later, they beheaded the boy because “he reminded her of her dad”

Mum, Rosana Cândido, 27, and Kacyla Pessoa, 28, a Brazilian citizens, stabbed 9-year-old Rhuan over a dozen times. They removed all the skin from his face and used a knife to try to gouge out his eyeballs to prevent possible recognition. Then, they butchered the boy’s body.

They attempted to burn some of the boy’s body part on a barbeque but botched it so they stuffed his remains in a suitcase and dumped it in a sewer.

Police says that the body was later found in the suitcase. Other parts were found in two backpacks at their home in Brazil.

The women are accused of tearing off Cândido’s son Rhuan’s penis a year ago during a surgery done at home with “rudimentary tools”. The two women are said to have told investigators they did it because Rhuan “wanted to become a girl.”

“After removing his penis, the women said they sewed an improvised version of the female organ onto the mutilated area,” local reports said.

The lovers are said to have confessed everything to cops in Samambaia, about 20 miles from capital Brasilia. They face homicide, torture and concealing a corpse charges.

Cândido reportedly claimed her son was a “burden” and a hindrance to her relationship with Pessoa. She also “felt hatred and no love” for him because he reminded her of father, who allegedly abused her.

Rhuan’s dad, who lives in Acre, is said to have told officers that Cândido ran away with the boy five years ago when he lost custody. She then went to live with Pessoa and her daughter, now aged nine.

Pessoa’s daughter has been put into care.

“She killed her son, quartered, decapitated, plucked the skin and tried to get rid of the body. It was a very terrible case,” police chief Guilherme Melo told O Tempo.

Suspected cultists numbering about seven has killed Odey Thankgod, a 200L student of the faculty of Education, University of Calabar, UNICAL, Brainnews report.

The incident occurred at exactly 4pm on Saturday, June 15 sequel to a deadly cult clash at Etonko street, Calabar Municipality, Cross River State.

The victim sustained matchet cuts, his five fingers were all chop off, also, bullet wounds all over his head and chest. The deadly attack has been attributed to vikings confraternity.

The police later evacuated the corpse to the mortuary.

A mother has mysteriously died while on vacation in the Dominican Republic, as her son is now desperate for answers.

According to a report by SILive.com, Leyla Cox of Staten Island had traveled to the popular tourist destination on Wednesday, June 5 for her birthday and never returned.

Her son William Cox said he last spoke to his mother on June 2, just a few days before she set off.

William told SILive.com: “I called her on a Sunday and wished her a happy birthday,” “I told her I love her.”

The trip was Leyla’s second time visiting the island and as she prepared for her solo adventure, William said he and his family warned her not to go.

“My family wanted her to not go on this vacation,” William explained to SILive.com. “I truly believe if my mother was not in the Dominican Republic, she would have been alive right now.”

“With everything going on in the news right now, we think she’s a casualty of what’s been happening,” he said.

SILive.com further said that Leyla was found dead at 53 in her hotel room and according to William, the U.S. Embassy officials explained her death had been ruled as a heart attack.

“I am overwhelmed and confused and in shock,” William told the outlet. “Her birthday was on June 9 and she passed away on June 10.”

The former deputy Senate President and Enugu West Senator, Ike Ekweremadu, has said that the decision to contest for Deputy Senate President was in protest of the 2018 invasion of the Senate.

It is ’embarrassing’ for the Senate to have as it’s Deputy Senate President a lawmaker who led thugs to the chamber, Mr Ekweremadu said.

This, he said, informed his decision to contest for the position.

Mr Ekweremadu polled just 37 votes losing to Mr Omo-Agege who had 68.

As reported by PREMIUM TIMES, last year, in April, Mr Omo-Agege allegedly led thugs to invade the senate chamber, and forcefully remove the mace.

Speaking to journalists after his loss on Tuesday, Mr Ekweremadu said his failure to clinch the deputy senate president position again does not matter.

“I believe there must be a referendum,” he said.

“Look at what happened on a day I was presiding and chambers invaded. It is embarrassing that someone who led that operation will take a bow and is endorsed and we all walk home like it doesn’t matter. I wanted a situation where we could present a referendum in respect of what transpired.”

Mr Ekweremadu said he did not contest to win. He said the decision was only taken a few hours to the election.

“Early this morning, we were not minded to run for any office, we thought that our friends in APC in consensus candidate that we can all be proud of, we don’t want a situation where we will say what happened here and you came and endorsed same person Deputy President of the Senate. We need to exonerate ourselves. It was not a contest to win or lose, I wanted to make a statement.”

Mr Ekweremadu was first elected Senator in 2003 and has since continued to win re-election.

He emerged the Deputy Senate President in 2007, a position he held till a few days ago.

According to a report by odditycentral.com, a wealthy farmer from China’s Sichuan province has been arrested for allegedly stealing chickens and ducks from several villages in Linshui county in order to buy gas for his “thirsty” $290,000(about N140 million) BMW car.

Since April, police in Linshui had been getting reports of chickens and ducks getting stolen from several villages in the county, but never expected the culprit to be one of the richest farmers in the area, a man who happens to live in a multi-story villa and drives a N 140 million luxury BMW. Apparently, it was the latter that pushed Qiang (pseudonym) to a life of petty crime, as after running into financial woes, he found it tough to afford gas for his gorgeous BMW. So he started stealing people’s domestic birds, breeding them on his farm, and selling them off for gas money.

Police opened an investigation into the poultry thefts after receiving multiple complaints. But, after checking surveillance tapes, they noticed someone riding a motorcycle with no license plates at late hours of the night. They started monitoring the roads 24/7 and eventually spotted that same suspicious motorcycle. After following it from afar, the cops saw the bike pull into Qiang’s home, but they didn’t have enough evidence to connect the man to the thefts, so they decided to place his home under surveillance.

Chicken dealers were often spotted at Qiang’s villa, but police concluded that they were not complicit in the thefts. They were just there to buy birds that they assumed the farmer had raised himself. After gathering enough evidence, authorities decided to bring Qiang in for questioning, They tried pulling him over in traffic, but somehow the poultry thief realized something was wrong and used his powerful BMW to get away, the Chengdu Business Daily reports.

‘He was driving a luxury car, and it was much faster than hours, so we couldn’t catch up to him on the highway,” Zhang Hua, director of the Yuan City Police Station, told reporters. Luckily, Qiang didn’t know his house was under surveillance, so he didn’t expect the cops to be waiting for him. When they searched the premises, they found the bike that showed up on the surveillance as well as a bunch of stolen chickens and ducks.

Confronted by the police, the 50-year-old farmer admitted to the thefts, explaining that his BMW was really “thirsty” and because his financial situation wasn’t very good at the moment, he turned to stealing and then selling chickens and ducks to subsidize his monthly fuel expenditure.

Qiang has been detained and faces charges of theft. His story got a lot of attention on social media, with many poking fun at the man for turning to petty crime just so he could drive a luxury car.
