Was there last week and I didn't upload passport, they helped me out at the embassy and my visa was approved.they still allow d160 without photo.

That is not true they still allow for interview.Go with a passport photos they will help u scan it at the embassy.

Meanwhile this guy has been rejecting and flipping blue papers anyhow even to married couples without children. Majority of people with children got their visa. This particular young couple was given a visa and she said she was going to give birth. she was visibly pregnant. She was asked why wont she birth in Nigeria and she said she lost one baby bla bla and they have really saved to ensure their baby is birthed in the Usa. She showed a payment kind of paper to the VO and they were issued a visa. I intentionally took my daughter there as a tie even though she wasnt an applicant and i ensured he is aware of my other child who is at home.
She was all over the place disturbing the peace of the hall.

I filled our DS-160 myself honestly at home. Our mission is pure and we hope to spend just 3weeks. it is indeed a private getaway for me and my angel. The kids arent wanted in this one.

That dude is nice,is like he love family.he issued my family and I visa without going through our passport to confirm if actually We have been to the Uk.very nice VO.anyone Applying in Lagos shud watch out for the dude,he is generous!!!

Well said and let him switch from Texas to a Tourist state like Orlando Florida.2ndly apply when u have a good reason for traveling to America like wedding anniversary etc.Still can't bliv u were refused with ur travel history.

It will be better he reapply with his family just like the 2 previous refusal before traveling to the UK.i think the UK travel history is a plus.

If he have been applying with his family and decided to back out,its a red flag.Since they have good travel history i advice they apply as family.I have been there before so talking from experience.

I once advice u use travelstart.com,do the reservation and pay money into their account they will send your ticket as soon as money is confirmed.

In my opinion from the transcripts, i think majorly this is the only time you had a grasp and knew what you were going for and answered the few questions accurately. Take the 3rd interview, where you were asked how much a ticket to disney costs and you answer was you dont know. The ticket price can be found online and also how will you plan finacially for the trip if you dont know costs.Thats why its not advisable to use agents, do the research yourself and this little details will stick. Happy anniversary and enjoy your trip

The 3rd VO was very aggressive.From experience,if a VO is going to approve your visa,he or she will make your interview smooth and easy.You are kinda right anyway.all thanks to Nairaland.

From my understanding,traveling to the Uk boost your chances of getting America visa to 99% the remaining 1% is your confidence.My interview was 30th of Jan which happens to be my birthday.I learnt alot here,i noticed the way i responded to my last questions was very different from my previous interviews.Thanks guys.

Got approved on the 30th of Jan after 4 application and 3 refusal in 2 years.

I don't know y people keep hammering on travel history with all the transcripts shared on this thread...pity....ur access or refusal of entry into the US is based primarily on ur Interview with the VO. (maybe Gods favor) and always tell ur own story. To keep hammering on travel history is wrong info please.

Wanted to share the transcript after collection, so everything (interview--collection) will be in one post.
But now that this is the case, below is my transcript.

The interview was at Abuja office, 7:30am appointment. Got there 7am and we were called in at 7:30.
Passed through all the accreditation, and security checks and queued up for the interview.

Vo: Good Morning

Me: I am going for annual XXXX IT Conference.
Vo: Okay, what do you intend to learn at the Conference?

No document was checked.

My Advice:
1. Know what you filled in your D-160 form.
2. Answer only what you are asked, with confidence.
2. Only present documents if asked. Some people tried to push documents through to the VO and he told them not to bother. Most of those guys were denied. It kinda shows desperation.
3.Travel History is important. Mine helped me.
4. Prayer is very important.

Many applicants are still failing to upload their visa photos as part of the application process, creating delays and bottlenecks in Consulate processing on the day of interview. Effective immediately, visa applicants who do not upload their photos when submitting their visa application will be turned away and advised to complete their application by uploading a proper photo.

This will usually require the rescheduling of their appointment. The process for uploading photos is easy and is thoroughly explained in our on-line application. Avoid disappointment and delay—upload your photo as part of your visa application!

So I applied for a B1/B2 visa to enable me attend a Medical Conference in Bleep state and then see a distant relative in Bleep state in America.
I was curious before now and that's why I kept coming on nairaland. The reasons being that I was working in another Country and only in Nigeria for holidays, and kept wondering how to demonstrate home ties.
Thanks for all who made comments with key points and encouragement. (from ladyG to Abujaniv).

Today was my interview and went with all my documents which was eventually never checked including letter of invitation. I arrived the Abuja office by 6.30am as my appointment was for 7.30am and went through the security checks.

Vo: Good Morning
Me: Good morning sir
Vo: What do you do?
Me: I am a Medical Doctor and I work in a General Hospital in XXXX (country)
Vo: So what's your specialty?
Me: Well I'm an Internal medicine Resident but working in the ER.
Vo: Okay doctor what is a Spleen?
Me: I couldn't believe he would ask me a medical question so I started stuttering but by the time I remembered my N54,400 was going down the line right before my very eyes, I picked up and tried answering properly!
(He probed further and asked more about the spleen and I answered)
Vo: What are you going to do in the USA?
Me: To attend the ___ annual Medical conference
Vo: Have you travelled anywhere before?
Me: Yes, I have been to UK, Brazil, South Africa, Nepal and Ghana, and they were all for Medical Conferences except Ghana which was a tourist trip only.
Vo: You have been to Nepal?
Me: Yes Sir, I attended a WHO Medical conference there in 2010.
Vo: Okay, Your visa is approved, This slip will tell you about how to get your Passport.
Me: Thank You Sir

My sincere observations/Advices.
1. Travel History is very important. (I have been denied 3 times in early 2000s, after that, I gave yankee a pained break and invested my time and money into other countries and made goal oriented visits which paid off today during the interview).
2. Today, I kinda studied all those denied visas before me, I wont lie many were quite justifiable. I could sense desperation is some, some claimed to just do business (even if you do business, package what you tell the vo well...what is "I do business".......Another said he was going to watch Wrestle mania......mind you these guys do not need to study psychology to know who is lying or not, only a very comfortable and rich Naija man will leave his Country to go and watch a wrestling match...so lets learn to come up with better excuses/reasons and make applications that suit our personalities.
3. The Abuja office is the best as regards fairness. Yes some people will argues this bu TRUTHFULY, I have been denied us visas at a young age in the Lagos office on very flimsy excuses. Infact I have been of the opinion after then that for USA interview, forget ties and all that story, that its just depends on the Vos mood and quota.
But in Abuja, I listened to those given visas and those refused, they were making decisions based on home ties, overall demeanour/confidence, good utterance and apparent desperation......just a few exceptions!

4. Last last pray ooh, forget all the language I dey talk here, me that I am advising about utterance, didn't I gbagun when I was answering medical question? Yes I did and was expecting rejection.......until God favoured me.....infact I have read here of those who had all their act together and were still denied.

A bank marketer can range from an Executive assistant to a GM. The vo saw his salary and has a fair idea of his level. Some marketers earn 400 and above. That's not a mean figure. He also has job security.
80k salary is not the only issue under consideration. Lenght of time worked etc factor in.
Egypt air is 390k. If they pay For flight and shop with with the change. What else are they paying for? Feeding, accomodation and local transport is Covered. The vo took time to even clarify this.
Lack of Objectivity is what makes folks keep on wasting money and blaming vos. yes I agree there are instances when the vos clearly goof. But IMO, this fellow had Ties

You are right he has ties but I have seen and read of many people with better ties and are still refused,390k return ticket for family of 3 or is it 390kx3?what if this guy is just a regular bank marketer with less than 150k salary but filled 400k or there about as his monthly income?he doesn't even know the uncle that is inviting him over.Its more like the VO was giving him suggestions according to his transcript.Anyone that fails to believe America visa in Nigeria is a thing of luck,am sorry.GOd deserve a thanks giving from this man.Congrats once again,u are indeed favored.

@kollysweden. Thanks for sharing your two experiences. The aplication and adjudication process Is not rocket science. The vo goes through Your form and makes a split second desicion. Be objective though. The application from Naija and the one from sweden had subtle differences...
Your story was verifiable and your ties were stronger. You were living with your wife together , working together in a non 3rd world country. Your status wasn't the same.
Anyways, we all are entitled to opinions. And I agree with the poster that said Nigerians over religionise everything...

I disagree with u on this,the applicant available money for the trip can barely cover him and his family flight ticket,he is a marketer in the bank and from my perspective bank marketer are not well paid in Nigeria,what job does the wife have,80k job?guess that money will barely sustain her a month.Well in as must as i am not over religious,I still believe in miracle. All I can say is that man was favored because I don't think he has enough money to cover his trip which the VO is aware,I guess she was in a good mood.Congrats man,i tap from your testimony,I pray to meet a VO like dis when it's my turn.

Taking one along to your interview is essential. Uploading while filling the form is also good; to me, it presents nicely.
