Someone should tell me how these so called Nigerian engineers in space were selected. what was the criteia used for the selection process. If we can get that foundational part right, then I may start believing again that the govt has a vision. If they dont, then it means they dont still do not have a vision for space programmes and its real benefits, hence they will only recruit people who just see space programme as another plum job funded by the govt. and not real explorers who are willing to be adventurous and creative to bring about the expected impacts of a country owning a satellite.

It is a different thing when your team plays good football and you dont win matches. it becomes easier to identify the areas to improve on and you always see a progressive impact of a good coach on the team with every successive game played. Sadly, this is not the case with Amodu. Since 1995 when he had his first stint with the Super Eagles, it has always been a case of lacklustre performance that always reflects a uncreative bench that finds it difficult to read game flow towards making decisive game changing substitutions. I think he has had the most draws in super eagles football history and always seem to depend strictly on luck and not knowledge.

Anyway, lets just sit back and see if luck would get him to South Africa. Other coaches who have tried it end up wobbling and fumbling to a disgraceful end. I dont see him writing a new history but rewriting this same history if not worse. The world cup is not a place for immature players and coaches who believe in luck but for men and hungry players who desire glory and honor.

There is no issue to disagree with here. You have only expressed the dept of your passion and concern for the state of the country by repeatedly observing the results of misrule and misguidance. My point still stands that if we focus on that we will continually expend emotional energy wastefully while leaving out the substance that would bring about the much desired change in our society.

If we change our leadership selection, we will get our desired result within the shortest time immaginable. The last 8yrs of misrule in America by the republican bush party was changed overnight by the change in leadership elected by the people. They knew everyone had begun hating Americans citizens and needed to change this perspective or risk losing their hold on world leadership. I am sure the Obama selection move was not an accident but a beautifully calculated risk at winning the hearts of people within and outside of America. Americans are people who are not sold out to anything except standards and documented achievements. Thats what their society is built upon.

Sadly in Nigeria, the opposite is the case. Nigerians find it difficult to comprehend the word "sacrifice" without attaching some material gain in its return. Its a place where even the common man trades in his dignity for a measly naira bill, singing the praises of a public office looter, misconstruing the truth and saying it is just a small thing to do because everyone knows the truth and he has to support his fellow tribes man, who is a proven criminal. Then they blindly argue in the criminal's favour. Sadly these people are too shortsighted to know that a small wrongly put article or word of mouth further legitimizes crime in the mind of many with a resultant negative impact on every area of our economy. The mindset is: afterall if that person can do it and get praised, then it must be acceptable, so I'll try it too.

The day every father would tell his children that: "Son, if you are caught defrauding an office is the day you cease to be my child"
The day a Child tells his father that: "Dad, if you are ever caught defrauding an office, I will publicly disown you and also do the job for assassins on you."
The day mothers will start telling their children that: "Girl, If you bring a man with a fraud controversy to his name for marriage, I will disown you"
The day every honest trader would refuse to do business with a man known to have shady dealings is the day we will begin to see a change.

Else we will continue to get leaders that we deserve. The problem of Nigeria is at the grassroots. Until every family and every neighbour stops celebrating fraudsters but community development champions, I am afraid we will continue to be led by people who are soley interested in playing the game for their own gains and not their community. Only proven community development champions can play the game of world economy domination warefare and not compromise his/her country's position because there is so much personal gain in its immediate works, one of the rules of the game is continous temptation.

On your second area of concern, you will become clear when you read my previous post. I can at this point play that I do not get your point just to rile you up further or I can miscue it and go along with the talk of "THEY DONT CARE" to engage you in a long winding talk of why I believe they care but I wont. My point in that paragragh is that Nigerian and other nations' leaders losing out in this international games are at a loss as to what their priority should be. Attending Harvard, Yale or UCLA will not teach you that, it will only provide you the legend for navigating the map for playing the game, you have to piece the landmarks together and navigate to your desired location. Note that the same map, with same legend will produce a different roadmap for different users but will lead them to the same destination. Once you dont know where you are or where you are meant to be, then the map becomes useless in your "head". Now! what the losing nations need to do is elect leaders with proven records of reformative goals on the local level and you will start seeing a positive progression. About the last comment. That was just my opinion on appreciating their application of acquired knowledge, to which I also appreciate you sharing yours too. Its not a point to disagree about, afterall, we are talking about a game here. There is no love or hate in sport, the winner always takes the trophy. A realization of this by our leaders will hasten our developments and they will recruit, promote laws and rules to play to win always. Remember fair play in football, If a man beats you, shake his hand at the end of the game, then go back, regroup and return to score a win at the next meet. Life is such that there is always a return leg, either you play or your children will play.

Everytime the talk of liberation from domination by a stronger nation comes to the fore, the first reaction is usually from the human emotional reasoning which tends to always lean towards acts and response of rebellion. This always sounds good and appear as the ultimate solution but life has also always taugth us that only the path of diplomatic response would determine the end results. So, while we must maintain our emotional puffs, it must not becloud our diplomatic judgements. Infact, our emotion is the fuel to drive our diplomatic abilities which are the only weapons allowed in this world economy domination warfare.

The ONLY reason why the "so called" developed countries have been able to continually dominate the "so called" less developed ones is because they have learnt the rules of the game. Like I said earlier, this battle for economic survival is all a game, and I must repeat that we are yet to produce leaders who understand the rules, not to mention the experience to navigate the different challenging scenarios it presents. Evidence is why an American president would lead an invasion of another sovereign nation on false evidence and not even be accused of war crimes while the president of a small nation seeking to achieve same dominance would get sentenced for a similar crime.

Sad but true, third world countries ( Africa and anyone else who cares to join the losing team) are yet to provide leaders who would come up with the tactical play that would position them in the league of countries that call the shots in the world. Mind you there are so many areas that a nation can plug in to become a power player in world economy domination. Some countries have discovered and keyed into some areas but there are still many more out there begging to be conquered. The arabs keyed into oil, the germans keyed into machinery, the russians keyed into european oil control and weapons production, the americans keyed into industry and governance while the british tagged along, the Asians have now keyed in and are wrestling away for the mantle of industry which is starting to yeild competitve bargaining power for arms. etc (so many more, it gets exciting when you break it down into Intracontinental tussles)

World Economy Domination Warfare is a mandatory game that every country must play. You either get involved and evolve or revolt and get resolved. (It intrigues me when I see South Africa dominate in west Africa and Nigeria sits sulking. it actually makes me laugh in disgust ). You do not win in this game by being simply heady or confrontational else you will be muscled out, you must also combine good sense, with strategies and generational, long term, monitored planning that does not lose focus even when dancing with the enemy. You must be ready to give some to gain some. The moment you refuse to concede some, you will lose more.

Take a glance at the Nigerian house of senate and other arms of government deliberations and priorities (furniture and housing allowances, etc). It will make you to either bow your head weeping, fall on your knees praying or hold your tummy laughing uncontrollably at their "grabitude" approach and cash settles it all mindset. Certainly, these guys do not understand the ball game of national affair.

I dont care who got Obama elected. Whoever they are; deserve medals of honor and truly understand the game of World Economy Domination Warfare. They are real visioners. Maybe Nigeria will get it right someday but not while we still believe applying quota system to everything, especially human resource management in governance. I am afraid to say we are still playing the game at the naiveity level while competing with seasoned professionals.

The world is like a game of chess, you must play and position to take advantage of your "opponent" always. Every move is a proposition. The conspiracy theories have some elements of truths to them and are further proven by the historical records of African leaders losing out to the western worlds who ensure their negotiators and representatives are educated, exposed professionals and proven elites who can hold their own anywhere in the world on the topics of discussion.

Sadly, we do not employ our leaders based on past records of success and show of ability to understand, analyse and make good judgements, rather we corronate them along  lines of inheritance; they in turn proceed to appoint similarly ignorant advisers ( we refer to them as party loyals who have degrees in whatever field you may want, just name it, but never posses a record for meaningful contribution to the field -- what a joke   ) . Evidence are the hook-line-sinker acceptance of all western policies and proposals thrown at these leaders, only to unravel the package and find they have signed the country and its citizenry into another slavery contract. These mistakes they always try to explain away with a mumbo jumbo to create emotional uprising in the populace who know no better and never hold these leaders to account for their reckless, ignorant actions.

Until this country's leadership selection process is truly based on achievement cum qualification records, we will continue to get it wrong at policy development, intercontinental contracts and agreements. In every contract, all parties must protect their own interest, but because our leaders do not even understand the contract, not to talk of seeing the underlying long term loss to be incured than the immediate short term gain to the economy and their own pockects and image, they cannot but continue to serve the western world who have realised this and will continue to boast of their ability to manage us.

Do you wonder how a govt. can talk about its seriousness on developmental issues and still allow its schools to be shut down for well over a month? obviously such a govt. and the minister for education have other important personal agenda on their list than education. Govt officials' analysis of issues always show a depth bereft of understanding of office responsibility, even their copied speeches cannot be properly read out to public. It always leaves you wondering if these people ever saw the walls of a high school not to mention a university. So sad but true, and will continue to be; until the fundamental issues of who leads us, who holds an office, who is appointed to handle a task, what should be the individual's profile, what is the standard acceptable on performance, etc are addressed, this country will continue to wish dreams would come true while others live the same dreams in our presence.

Go and study the profile of all British and US govenors, senators, presidents and you will understand why they are succesful at international assignments. They are not people who have failed careerwise or at the local level. Look at Nigerian govenors, senators and all the others officials and you will understand why we have this thread in play.

The country is bereft of people with dept and understanding, same explains the problem with pressmen, many simply write for accolades and acknowledgement of use of grammar rather than application of knowledge and understanding of issues at hand. Years of abuse have left many of them with only one shade of ink in their pens - the ink of Bitter journalism. Everywhere they turn they want to create another mumbo jumbo of emotional uprising. I pray that someday the country will usher in a new era of minds who will not compromise standards and will not give up their souls for measly 5 seconds claps and vanishing accolades.

"E go better,  shine the light wherever you are." Obama is standing for the country that feeds and believes in him, let us continue to stand for a positive change in this our constituency, the light is still shinning at the end of the tunnel. If Nigeria can do it, other African countries will follow suit.

no matter how good a man may be able to manage his family, it is not assured that such ability would naturally translate to public office. we have seen men with the ability to manage more than 4 women at a time mess up our economy. It is a whole different ball game, though I am not saying it is astute to hop from woman to woman. Just that the guy is one of the rare find of principled Nigerians who can stand up and try to speak the truth in the face of threat to self.

This is hilarious. I've known this guy for long and he has always been a wannabe, The day I met him in person; I was scared I'd come face to face with one of Van goh's eccentric paintings.  So, this surgery thing might just be a long due, welcomed development I hope he discovers his true self before the curtain falls, then he may be more useful to the society than seeking unproductive attention.

Football is really crazy.    We deserve to qualify because we were better than the other losers.  though as a nation that has experienced footballing at the highest peak and knowing the available potentials in this country, qualifying through this medium is an unacceptable standard by Nigeria's pedigree. Well, I have been to the phillipines. and visited a couple of the cities from Cagayan De oro to Ozamis, Iligan, not to mention Manila. The peole are nice, easy going and I must say the country is more organised than Nigeria ( thats no disrespect to my fatherland, just plain truth). I would surely visit the place anytime again. If you want to purchase items cheaply for business, visit their Malls. They actually have the Largest MALL in the whole of Asia.
