Phones / Give Your Status Bar A Matching Colour For Every App by breellzhacks(m): 3:19am On Sep 18, 2016
Step 1
Install Status
To update your ugly old status bar with Material Design, start by installing Fenn's app, which is simply called Status.
Install Status for free from the Google Play Store
Step 2
Grant Permissions
When you first launch Status, there are a handful of additional permissions that you'll have to grant so that the app can overlay your screen, display notification icons, and keep your connectivity indicators accurate. The app has a set-up screen that will walk you through this part, so it's pretty easy.
To start, tap the "Grant Access" button beneath the first permission, then select the "Status Service" entry on the next screen. Next, simply enable the permission with the switch at the top of the screen, then confirm your choice on the popup.
From there, press your device's back button to head back to the Status app. Next, just repeat this same process with the other two permissions, then press the check mark in the bottom-right corner of the screen when you're done.
Step 3
Adjust Options
Once you make it to the app's main menu, start by enabling the "Status Bar Service" switch. From here, make sure the "Status Bar Coloring" option is also enabled if you want your new status bar to match the color of the app you're using. In the event that the automatic color-matching fails or the app you're using has no color, you can set a default color with the "Status Bar Color" option, and this will be used as a fallback of sorts.
The app does a good job of automatically matching the color of any app you're using, but occasionally, this can be off. If you notice any apps with mismatching status bar colors in the future, come back to the app's main menu, then tap the "Add Apps" button. From here, enable the switch next to any troublesome app, then use the sliders on the popup to manually adjust the status bar coloring for that particular app.
Step 4
Get a Color-Matching Material Design Status Bar
From now on, your status bar will be using Material Design, so you'll get the sleek icons and indicators, plus the color will match the app you're currently using. This only applies to the status bar itself, so when you expand your notification tray, you'll still see the stock interface—but, at the very least, you've finally gotten rid of that ugly old status bar.

Phones / Re: Whatsapp Going After Snapchat With Photo Editing And Stickers(with Pictures) by breellzhacks(m): 8:37pm On Sep 14, 2016
henryobinna:
No!
they're not going after Snapchat.
WhatsApp is a text messaging app while Snapchat isn't.
WhatsApp is just adding some features to make texting interesting and sweet.
moreover, no one would dump Snapchat for WhatsApp. it's safe to say, all Snapchat users also have and use WhatsApp to text and call their friends.

Do You Know Your Smartphone Can Make You Some Money?

You can send text on Snapchat too.
The words in the topic were used just for similarities between them
Phones / Whatsapp Going After Snapchat With Photo Editing And Stickers(with Pictures) by breellzhacks(m): 12:51am On Sep 14, 2016
WhatsApp’s latest Beta has a number of new features to make image sharing more fun & personalised in an attempt to take on Snapchat They’re bringing in the ability to draw on an image & paste stickers on to it too, quite like how Snapchat & Instagram stories allow. However, the interface as well as the emoji (open source emoji) being used are totally identical, which is strange as WhatsApp normally just uses iOS style emoji even on Android. This will make things a little hard to get used to as users will have 2different styles of emoji. WhatsApp is also going to enlarge all emoji sent without text as well (like they did with the heart emoji)
For example, if you take a photo through the
WhatsApp app, editing tools will pop up after the photo is snapped. A pencil and ‘T’ buttons will appear, allowing users to draw and write on top of the photo using different colours, similar to the photo-messaging app, Snapchat.
App users will also be able to edit photos using stickers too, giving people more options to personalise their images.
The addition of a new front-facing flash in WhatsApp’s beta update enables a white flash-like effect on the screen when taking selfies for better low light photography.
WhatsApp’s messaging elements have also been updated. Users can now send or forward messages to multiple people in one go, whereas before messages could only be sent or forwarded to one person at a time
.
How to get WhatsApp's beta features
In order to try out WhatsApp’s new features, go to Google Play Store’s webpage for the app and tap the ‘Become a Tester’ button or hit this link. Then go to the Google Play Store app and search for the latest WhatsApp version in order to download and install the new features.

Phones / 5 Best Lockscreen Replacement Apps On Android( With Pictures) by breellzhacks(m): 10:44am On Sep 11, 2016
When it comes to customization, you just can't beat Android. Not only can you replace your home screen, switch your default apps, and apply icon packs, but you can even replace your entire lock screen by installing a simple app. Considering that the lock screen is the first interface you encounter when you pick up your phone, that last one might even be the biggest change you can make without root access.
But there are tons of gimmicky lock screen replacement apps on the Google Play Store, and some even contain malware, so it can be hard to sort through all the riffraff. To make things easier on you, we've installed and tested dozens of lock screens, then condensed the list to the five best options available. So if you've been in the market for a new lock screen, read on below for the most innovative and useful apps available (in no particular order).
1
Cover: Quick Access to Apps
If you're one who likes to get straight to the point, you'll probably love Cover. This lock screen replacement adds a row of apps to the side of your screen, so when you wake your phone, all you have to do is swipe inward from an icon to jump straight into that app.
This feature is quite handy for taking quick glances at your apps without fully unlocking your device, and the fact that the app shortcuts change based on your location is a major plus for productivity. In addition to all of that, you can even use these shortcuts while your device is unlocked, by simply swiping down from the top-right corner of your screen at any time.

2.Corgi: Feedly RSS Feeds on Your Lock Screen
Considering that your smartphone is always connected to the internet, it obviously serves as a great tool for staying on top of the latest news. But what if you never even had to unlock your device to get your news fix, and instead, all of the latest trending topics were baked into your lock screen?
Well, that's the premise behind Corgi, which is an AOSP/stock-style lock screen that offers Feedly and Instagram integration. Once you've added your favorite news feeds, you'll see the latest trending topics right at the bottom of the lock screen, where they're only a quick double-tap away. To sweeten the deal, Corgi even works with your fingerprint sensor, so you don't have to sacrifice any functionality.

3.SnapLock: iOS Functionality with Custom Styles
The iPhone's lock screen recently got a pretty big makeover, and it finally includes real widgets this time around. While this has always been a strength of Android, Apple's notification-swiping gestures and Control Center access have made a lot of users yearn for an iOS-style lock screen on Android.
SnapLock isn't a perfect replica of the iOS 10 lock screen, but it's got plenty more to offer. Notifications can be cleared by swiping left or opened by swiping right, and the widgets reside on a page to the left just like on iOS. But the Android side of things start to show when you head to the customization section in SnapLock, where you can change the look and feel in many different ways.

4.Microsoft Next: Bing Images & Smart Shortcuts

If you haven't been paying attention, you've probably missed the fact that Microsoft released a whole slew of Android apps over the past year or so. Yes, that Microsoft. And their Android development team has proven to be top-notch, with useful apps like Connections, Mimicker Alarm, and even Cortana under their belts already.
Their Next lock screen app is another great example. With location-based shortcuts for quick access to the apps you need most right now, it's great for getting things done quickly. As if that weren't enough, they've even included those beautiful Bing background images as the default wallpaper, so you'll be greeted by a new, amazing photo every day.

5.AcDisplay: Active Notifications

The final entry in this list is perhaps the most unique. AcDisplay can serve as a notification center in conjunction with your existing lock screen, or it can be used as a lock screen replacement—but either way you go, you'll stand to add some interesting functionality.
The main highlight here is an "Active Mode" that emulates Motorola's "Active Display" feature by waking your device when you get a notification, or when you take your phone out of your pocket. The all-black background is a battery-saving feature for AMOLED screens, though you can always use your own wallpaper. In the end, it's a notification-centric lock screen that gives you easy access to new messages, which can go a long way towards upping your productivity levels.

Phones / Get Spotify Premium Features For Free On Android(with Pictures' by breellzhacks(m): 10:28am On Sep 11, 2016
When you think of an online music service nowadays, Spotify is probably near the first that come to mind, and for good reason. Being able to create, share, and take all of your playlists anywhere, across all of your devices, is something that I couldn't live without. Unfortunately, nothing this good is free, and with Spotify Premium, users of their free service are left with very limited features when streaming on their mobile devices.

There have always been ways to bypass these restrictions, but most of those required root access or the use of the Xposed Framework, which can be a deal breaker for some, or a non-option for those running Android Lollipop.

Luckily, developer Lucas Picchi has modified the original Spotify app to open up unlimited skips and track specific playback for everyone (i.e., those without a paid subscription). This app is based off Spotify version 2.1.0.903, and Picchi has even created a version for those of you still stuck on Gingerbread.

Step 1
Install the Modified App

Since this is a modified app, it cannot be hosted on the Google Play Store, so you'll need to download the APK that is compatible with your Android version from one of the links below. Before doing so, make sure that you've allowed for app installation from "Unknown sources".

Android 4.0 and above

Android 2.3

Before installing the app, make sure to uninstall the official Spotify app on your device if you have it installed. Then, just hit the "Download complete" notification to install the modified version.

Step 2
Login & Enjoy

With the app open, you'll need to log in. The modified version cannot use the Facebook login option, so you will need to enter your Spotify credentials in order to sign in.
Once the app loads to the main menu, you will be all set to go. Premium features, like selecting specific tracks to play and unlimited skips are enabled by default, but you will unfortunately still have to pay in order to increase audio quality.
Keep in mind that this app cannot be updated through the Play Store, so be sure to check back for future releases and updates

Get Sony's Xperia feature packed Keyboard on any android
North American users get a raw deal when it comes to Sony devices. For some reason, the critically-acclaimed Xperia lineup of smartphones is hardly ever available here, whereas in Europe, the Sony Xperia Z series is one of the most popular flagship devices around.
But now, thanks to some great work from developer yener90, we can at least get a taste of the Sony experience by trying out the latest keyboard from their Xperia devices. It's a feature-rich keyboard that supports multiple simultaneous languages, gesture typing, a good selection of themes, and lots of customization options. The install process is relatively simple, as root is not required, so I'll show you how to set it up below.
Requirements
Android 4.4 or higher
"Unknown sources" enabled
Step 1
Download & Install the Xperia Keyboard
To try out the Xperia Keyboard on your device, go ahead and download it (link below). From there, tap the "Download complete" notification, then press Install when prompted.
Download Sony's latest Xperia Keyboard (.apk)
Note: Future updates to this app can be found at the developer's thread on XDA.
Step 2
Enable the New Keyboard
Once you've got the keyboard installed, head to your phone's main Settings menu, then open the Language & input submenu. From here, select the "Current Keyboard" entry, then press the "Choose Keyboards" button on this popup. Next, enable the Xperia Keyboard using the toggle switch next to it, then press "OK" when prompted.
From here, back out one level to head to the Language & input menu again. Next, select the "Current Keyboard" option once more, but this time you'll see the Xperia Keyboard listed, so go ahead and select it to set it as your new default keyboard.
Step 3
Adjust Options
Before you start using the keyboard, it would be a good idea to take a look at all of the various customization options it offers. To do this, head to that same Language & input menu in Settings, but this time select the "Xperia keyboard" entry. From here, you'll see lots of great customization options, including the ability to download multiple language packs, tweak word suggestions, enable gesture input, and even have the Xperia Keyboard learn from your writing style.
Scrolling down to the bottom half of this menu, you'll see some of my favorite options. For instance, you can tweak the keyboard height, enable a one-handed mode, and even add a number row to the top of the keyboard. In addition to that, the Xperia Keyboard is one of the only keyboards that let you disable the emoji button, which can be done by heading to the "Symbols and smileys" menu.
But perhaps the most exciting feature in this menu is the "Keyboard skins" section. This offers a nice assortment of themes for your new keyboard, and all you have to do to apply one is simply select it from the list.
Step 4
Try It Out
With everything set up now, you're ready to try out your new keyboard. It's super fast, and the word prediction is spot-on, plus the gesture typing is smooth and intuitive. If you opted to enable the number row, you'll also be able to quickly enter alphanumeric passwords in the future, so it's an all-around performer.
