Car Talk / Re: Lagos To Impose New Taxi Rules To Clamp Down On Services Like Uber by brightl06(m): 7:08pm On Sep 06, 2016
linearity:
Uber is the proverbial cat with nine lives! They have survived in the US and many western countries despite the fierce attack from the statuesque because of their tenacity and the company is very good at arm twisting.

Previously, Newark NJ ban Uber from the Newark International Airport, NJ USA which is a lucrative hop for passengers. In fact Uber drivers were arrested and some posted their horrible experience on YouTube, not long after the local Taxi Union celebrated a new milestone, the signing of a deal in the city that meant a death nail to Uber. Then the State sponsored a bill to ensure the burial will be a foregone conclusion.

Then Uber spring into action, sensing the big money to be made...they started paying the fines of any Uber driver that got a ticket, just send them the picture of the ticket and the prove that you have paid it and viola you got your money back!

They then brought in some mouth watering deal that the city can just resist and viola! Newark International Airport is a second parking lot for Uber drivers waiting to pick passengers.

As for that state law? Well, it has been drastically watered down. Now some in the local taxi union sensing the loosing battle have upgraded the look of their taxi and have signed up with Uber and now carrying GPS and working for Uber...intact, most TLC cab drivers in New York City are Uber drivers as well.

Über has perfected this strategy and rolls it out in any city with potentials to make them money. Bottomline, these laws will not make Uber to leave as long as there is money to be made, if anything they will affect the local cab services that does not have the financial might of an international company first, before they start affecting Uber.

Secondly, the demography that used Uber in Nigeria are influential after all if one can choose to pay N3,500 for a trip that would have cost just N150, they are not push overs. Lagos, just need money, and Uber will give them a deal that they will not refuse, my fears is...the local cab company which this new law is purported to help...will not be fully represented at the meeting, when that deal is made.
Bro.You really do undestand the system

Car Talk / Re: How Hard Is It To Drive A Manual Car In Lagos by brightl06(m): 6:13pm On Sep 04, 2016
Sashafm:

What about the stress of changing gears do you think, it's wise for a lady in Lagos traffic?
Babe, if you call simple changing gears "stress" then you are better off jumping molue daily...
You dont need a car to drive, rather you need a car to drive. And that is not available for now.

In my opinion, this not a question that you will get reliable answer from this forum ask your brothers, relatives, other car owners around you, and most importantly an experience mechanic to guide in your decision. All the best.

Well u are entitled to ur opinion. But even the fone/internet u are using to type this story was obj's initiative
well, you too are entitled to your opinion, OBJ didnt initiate phone nor internet in nigeria. That it cam doing his tenure doesnt make him the brain or initiator of what we enjoy today.
I would have even listened to you if it was the Nitel of old that the said Obj revived, and furnished to be what the telecom sector is today.

Simply put that Obj was the president when mobile tech came knocking on our door.
That you were fixing a burnt bulb in your house when nepa brought light doesnt mean you brought the light.

Nice one OP. as someone stated earlier, your article lacks orgnisation.

I my opinion, you observed excessive caution in your write up. There is much more eeevil associated with this men than you have mentioned...this is just the tip of an iceberge..
secondly, i disagree that GEJ died politically, he is rather respecting himself as a stateman and being politic with his personal image. Unlike some old bungalows who doing are doing whatever it takes to remain politically relevant in this country.
In my opinion, whatever Nigeria is today, good or bad, OBJ set the ball rolling and only a leader ready to take pithy actions can fix things. Sorry PMB is not that man.

Sometimes you wake up, take a shower, brush your teeth and regret being a Nigerian.

I'd think this speaker would be more concerned about the Fulani herdsmen rodents in his state.

Reminds me of how Dino and his ipob supporters joked about Dino beating & raping his fellow rep.

I pity this country.
Menh!! You simply jump from thread to thread droping controversial comments and showing how much of a bigot you are.. you so much show how massive of a dumb ass you are everywhere? If you got nothing to say, sharap!! And stop instigating tribal E-war.
