Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, have knocked Bashir Ahmad, the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media over his reckless tweet.
Bashir in a tweet on Wednesday, September 25, shared a video of the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J. Mohammed, having a quick chat with Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
He shared the video alongside with the caption; “DSG of the @UN, Amina J. Mohammed gisting President of the UNGA, Bande Tijjani in Hausa, how their Maigida (Boss), President Buhari was proudly happy seeing them sitting together to preside over the most powerful meeting on earth. #ProudNigerians”
However, reacting to the caption made by Ahmad, Mrs Dabiri, the chairman of NIDCOM, via her official twitter account on Wednesday, September 25, said the posting made by him is unnecessary.
“This posting absolutely unnecessary.
“Three out of four people on that world stage are Nigerians.
“Nigerians taking the lead!!! That should be the message!!”
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has said that his meeting with billionaire philanthropist, Bill Gates, turned him into a different person.
Dangote said this on Wednesday as a discussant at the 2019 Goalkeepers’ event hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in New York, US.
“When I started my foundation in 1994, I never realised we had this massive challenge in the health sector,” Dangote said.
“Really, it was mind-boggling when we had this agreement to collaborate with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and that really opened my eyes to realise that there are a lot of challenges in health.
“At that time I didn’t have the opportunity of meeting Bill but meeting Bill changed me into a different person. This is somebody that has nothing to do with us in Africa or Nigeria but he is putting his money and his soul into everything.
“He is very committed to helping humanity and that really surprises me a lot and I realised that he is a simple person and I never knew Bill would be this simple. He is a very soft-spoken guy and kind-hearted.”
The industrialist said he hopes to give out a chunk of his $9.2 billion wealth like Gates sometime in the future.
“It is very difficult to find people like Bill in this world. Bill, we are very grateful and I can assure you that with my association with Bill, my only prayer is that in the next few years, I will try and give my chunk of wealth to charity,” he said.
Gates, however, in response thanked Dangote for linking him with governors in the north.
The American said without Dangote he would not have been able to chat with the likes of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and five other northern governors.
Several constituents in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State have raised concerns over the abandonment of multiple constituency projects by former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and other National Assembly members from the area.
Among the concerned constituents are traditional rulers, town union presidents and others.
During the presentation of the Awgu Community Constituency Project Tracking Report (2015–2018), chair of the committee which documented the report, Julius Azinkpali, said the committee was perplexed to discover that most of the projects were either abandoned, poorly executed or yet to take off.
The report is sponsored by an Enugu-based non-governmental organisation, Divine Era Development and Social Rights Initiatives (DEDSRI), in partnership with ActionAide Nigeria and the support of UKaid.
Mr Azinkpali also fingered Toby Okechukwu representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency in the issue of abandoned projects.
Azinkpali spoke on how a project for the “Maintenance of Youth Development Centre” at Nsulu Games Village, worth N10 million, was abandoned.
“Nothing was done about the project after site clearance, even when some of the projects were indicated to have been completed,” he said.
“Other failed and abandoned projects in the area include a N30 million Ogbuma Rural Road.
“The project was captured twice by a government agency and ministry at N30 million each. Only about 10 per cent work was done.”
However, the Special Assistant to Mr Ekweremadu on Project, Jonathan Ivoke said the community should look for documents if it intends to track constituency projects.
“If you are tracking constituency projects, go and look for the documents. They are public documents,” he said.

In a press release this morning by Deputy Director Army Public Relations, colonel ADO ISA, it was reported that “OPERATION POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION" is yielding good result as NORTH EAST OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE nabs 5 key terrorists logistics suppliers and fighters so far.
Following the commencement of "Operation POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION" by the Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE(OPLD) across the North Eastern part of Nigeria, troops have intensified searching for and arresting all suspected criminal elements that roam parts of the North Eastern part of Nigeria.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on September 19, 2019 secured the conviction of commercial director of Process and Industrial Developments Limited, (P&ID), Mohammed Kuchazi and the company’s director of process, Adamu Usman before Justice I. E. Ekwo of Federal High Court, sitting in Maitama, Abuja.
The judge sentenced the company, incorporated in British Virgin Island to wind up in Nigeria and its properties, forfeited to the federal government.
The duo were arraigned on 11-count charges, bordering on obtaining by false pretence; dealing in petroleum products without appropriate license; money laundering and failure to register P&ID with the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCUML) as required by law, amounting to economic sabotage against the Nigerian state.
One of the charges reads: “That you, Process and Industrial Development Limited, being a company, incorporated in the British Virgin Island, Michael Quinn (deceased), Brendan Cahill (at large), Neil Hitchcock (deceased), Muhammad Kuchazi and Grace Taiga on or about the 11th of January, 2010 in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court with intent to defraud made a false statement in Paragraph 8 (g) of the Gas Supply and Processing Agreement (GSPA) to wit: the parties are aware that the 24-inch Adanga Pipeline, presently under construction from the Addax operated OML 123 directly to Calabar and due for completion in 2010 which part of the said agreement you knew to be false and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 362 (a) of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 364 of the same law.”
The defendants pleaded guilty to all the eleven count charges.
While urging the court to convict them according to their plea, the prosecuting counsel Bala S. Sanga presented to the court, statements of account, showing massive withdrawals of dollars, some running into as much as $700,000 (Seven Hundred Thousand dollars) and some of which established the violation of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act, as well as the law on Advance Fee Fraud. He revealed that contrary to the impression sold by P&ID that it was established in Calabar, the Cross River capital, the company did not as much as acquire a land for an office structure.
Section 10 (1) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006 states that “Where an offence under this Act which has been committed by a body corporate is proved to have been committed on the instigation or with the connivance of or attributable to any neglect on the part of a director, manager, secretary or other similar officer of the body corporate, or any person purporting to act in any such capacity, he, as well as the body corporate, where practicable, shall be deemed to have committed that offence and shall be liable to be proceeded against and punished accordingly.”
It further provides that “Where a body corporate is convicted of an offence under this Act, the High Court may order that the body corporate shall thereupon and without any further assurance, but for such order, be wound up and all its assets and properties forfeited to the Federal Government.”
Testifying as prosecuting witness, Babangida Umar Hussaini, an operative of the EFCC proved with evidence how Kuchazi (first defendant) and Usman(second defendant) conspired and sabotaged the country’s economy by evading tax payment for a period of 10 years; an accusation the duo agreed to be true.
Counsel for the defendants, however, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy since the duo did not waste the time of the court with their immediate plea of guilt to all the charges against them.
Justice Ekwo convicted them based on all the charges levelled against them by the EFCC. He sentenced the company to wound up and its properties be forfeited to the federal government of Nigeria.
EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, on August 29, 2019 disclosed that the Commission had commenced investigation into the circumstances leading to the $8.9billion arbitral award against Nigeria by a United Kingdom court over alleged breach of gas contract agreement between it and P&ID, describing the process leading to the judgment as "day light robbery." He vowed that the Commission will forensically investigate the transaction and bring anyone one found wanting to justice.
The Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has called on Nigerians to help in the fight against corruption by given useful information to boost the whistle-blowing policy of the government.
He gave the charge on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at a Town Hall meeting, which held at the Banquet Hall, Arewa House, Kaduna State.
The event, which was organized by Action Aid International, Nigeria, had as its theme, "Governance and Citizens Dialogue on Service Delivery".
He reiterated that the whistle-blowing policy was still very much in effect, and remained one of the many ways in combating corruption, which has yielded significant results.
Magu who was represented by Mailafia Yakubu, Head, EFCC Kaduna Zonal Office, however, urged them not to give false or misleading information to the Commission, stressing that such was a crime that was punishable in the court of law.
"The fight against this monster called corruption, is now and it begins with you," he said.
Participants at the Town Hall, included representatives of Civil Society Organisation, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission, ICPC, the Nigeria Police, and the Kaduna State Ministries of Justice, Health and Education.
Similarly, Mailafia admonished students of the Kaduna State Polytechnic, at the 10th Annual National Conference of the polytechnic's College of Administration Studies and Social Sciences, which held at the institute's Public Administration Hall.
Speaking on the theme of the Conference, "National Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development in Nigeria", Mailafia used the platform to admonish parents and guardians, to take interest in the activities that their children engage in, noting that, youths were easily lured into engaging in internet fraud.
In similar vein, Magu has urged civil society groups to keep working and partnering with the Commission to move Nigeria forward. He gave the charge through the Head of the Kano Zonal Office of the Commission, Akaninyene Ezima on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at an interactive forum in Kano. He charged them to keep the anti corruption crusade of the EFCC alive by engaging the public as the EFCC cannot do it alone.
“It gladdens our hearts that out of your busy schedules, you find time to come and visit us and partner with us in making sure the country move forward.”
“We want the civil society groups to assist us where necessary because we cannot do everything on our own," he said. The Chairman of Kano Civil Society Forum, Ibrahim Waiya who led the delegation of Civil Society Groups called on the EFCC to make maximum use of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Kano State which was passed into law in 2018 by the Kano State Government.
While applauding the Commission for its professionalism, Waiya highlighted some key areas of concern which he thinks the EFCC should improve upon. Such areas included human rights protection and bail administration.
In his response, Magu disclosed that the EFCC is conscious of the ACJA especially as it relates to the handling of suspects. He stated that the Commission allows counsel to suspect to witness the interrogation, or in the absence of his/her lawyer, the statement is video recorded as provided by ACJA.
He added that the Commission’s detention facilities are also regularly inspected by magistrates as provided by ACJA.
“If you visit our cells, you will find out that it’s is pretty comfortable, We respect the human rights of our suspects. It is the duty of the court to pronounce you guilty, so when a suspect is with us, he is treated on presumption of innocence," he added.
Jayesh Patel, an Indian man who tried to get out of India and into USA, posed himself as 81-year-old named Amrik Singh, was caught at the time of security check.
The 32-year-old man was stopped as he was trying to board a flight to New York at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi by the Central Industrial Security Force.
Disguised in zero power glasses to conceal his age, make-up, a turban and a dyed beard, he made it through initial security checks and past immigration officials, a spokesperson for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said.
Patel reportedly hired an agent who got him the documents and arranged for him to be made-up to look like an 81-year-old in a hotel in Delhi, according to local media. Patel agreed to pay the agent once he had arrived in the U.S
According to a press released by CISF, Patel refused to go through frisking at the security hold area on the pretext that he is unable to stand since he was old.
Foul play was detected by a CISF personnel when it was noticed that Patel was avoiding eye contact during the interaction.
On checking Patel’s passport, it was detected that he should be 82 whereas his physical appearance did not match his age in the passport which made him to be further enquired.
On tactful questioning, Patel revealed his identity and said that he hails from Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
As of now, Jayesh Patel has been handed over to Immigration officials for further investigation. A probe is on to know as to why he was undertaking this illegal act, the press release said.

Media Mogul, Dele Momodu has reacted to the Presidential Election Tribunal judgment affirming President Buhari as the legitimate winner of the February 2019 elections.
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, dismissed the petition of Atiku Abubakar challenging President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election, in its entirety, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV reports that the five-man panel of justices led by Justice Mohammed Garba, held that the petitioners (Atiku, PDP) failed to “evidently prove” their case beyond “reasonable doubt.”
The tribunal insisted that the allegations levelled under issues 4 and 5 (above) were criminal in nature that must be proved beyond reasonable doubt.
The tribunal also said the petitioners failed to discharge the burden of proof that Buhari was not elected by a majority of lawful votes.
Igbere TV reports that three members of the five-man panel of justices agreed with the lead judge (Mohammed Garba) in his ruling.
The Tribunal, therefore, stroke out the entire petition of Atiku and the PDP against Buhari and the APC, for lacking merit, and failure to evidently prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.
Reacting to the development, Dele Momodu said; “Experience is the best teacher... Our country is too complex and complicated... If MKO ABIOLA could be turned from the winner to a prisoner, nothing can shock me again...”
Report reaching Igbere TV says that the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, is in Abuja ahead of the presidential election tribunal verdict to be delivered today
Also in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is former national chairman of the party, Bisi Akande.
According to our correspondent in Abuja, both men arrived on Monday night and had dinner with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House.
“Some APC governors also arrived Abuja yesterday (Tuesday).
“Their convoys were seen at the governors’ lodges in Asokoro area of Abuja,” the source told our correspondent.
He added, “chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, is arriving Abuja this morning for the ‘victory parley’ with President Buhari.”
The tribunal is expected to resume at 9am as they decide the fate of PDP and its candidate Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC over the February 23 presidential election.
Igbere TV recalls that INEC had declared Buhari and the APC as winner of the election, having polled a total of 15,191,847 votes to defeat his closest rival, Atiku, who it said polled a total of 11,262,978 votes.
The five-man panel of justices of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, is headed by Justice Mohammed Garba, as Chairman.
The PDP and its presidential candidate also accused INEC of storing the real results of the 2019 election in a central server.
Veteran journalist, Azuka Jebose, who is quite known on social media as a crusader who intervenes in medical challenges, has disclosed that doctors once gave reggae musician, Majek Fashek, five years to live because of damages caused by alcohol abuse.
The former Punch columnist and writer made the statement obtained by Leakers.ng following reports that Majek has been hospitalised in a London hospital for suspected schizophrenia.
“Majek has a bad liver from years of alcoholism. I do not know how he has survived to these times,” Jebose said.
The journalist once took it upon himself to help rehabilitate the ‘Send Down the Rain’ singer.
“About 10 years ago, doctors in Atlanta warned that he (Majek) had five years to live because alcohol had damaged his liver. He cursed them out and checked out of the hospital,” he added.
Jebose recalled how he and Charles Novia alerted the public to the singer’s schizophrenia but “his manager went to the media to deny and accused us of using Majek to make money.”
Majek, born Majekodunmi Fasheke, has a history of alcohol addiction.
He has been in and out of rehabs, with flashes of recovery usually followed by a relapse.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the postponement of the auctioning of forfeited trucks, vehicles and petroleum products arising from suit FHC/PH/MISC/65/2019.
The inspection of the items by interested bidders had earlier been scheduled to commence on Monday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The commission also postponed the bid opening ceremony earlier fixed for September 12.

It also said it regretted any inconvenience the postponement might cause interested bidders and other stakeholders.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reacted to the trending video wherein Lai Mohammed was pleading with Nigerians to pardon President Muhammadu Buhari for not being able to find his WAEC certificate, surfaced last week.
The Party in its reaction to the video asked President Buhari to immediately vacate office.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed in the interview which reportedly took place in January 2015, said President Buhari deserves to be pardoned because its been 53 years since he left secondary school and he doesn't even know where he kept his certificate.
Leakers.ng recall that Alhaji Lai Mohammed was then the spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress APC.
In a statement released this afternoon, the opposition party asked President Buhari to save Nigerians further troubles by immediately vacating the presidential seat.
Read the statement below;
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reviewed the video of the media interview by the Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and surmised that President Muhammadu Buhari should save the judiciary and the nation further troubles by immediately throwing in the towel and vacating the presidential seat following the official admission that he (Buhari) does not possess a WAEC certificate, contrary to his claims and disposition before the law.
Our party mocks the Buhari Presidency for pushing out the video wherein the Minister pleaded with Nigerians to pardon President Buhari over his false WAEC certificate claims.
PDP notes the deliberate ploy of Alhaji Lai Mohammed to appeal to sentiments, seeing that Mr. President had failed to defend himself before the Presidential petition tribunal.
The party berates the Buhari Presidency for believing that in pushing the video into the public space, it could influence the mind of the tribunal to bend the law after solid evidence have been presented before it against President Buhari.
The PDP holds that the pronouncement and appeal for pardon issued by the government’s spokesperson, who is also a lawyer, is a direct guilt plea, which cannot save President Buhari from the course of justice in this matter.
From the official pronouncement by the Minister on a national television, it is no longer in dispute before all Nigerians that President Buhari does not possess the educational certificate he claimed in the affidavit he deposed to in his Presidential nomination form.
In this latest shenanigan, President Buhari and his handlers ought to have known that the law, which the judiciary is bound to uphold, is a respecter of no man.
The PDP reminds President Buhari of how his Presidency vehemently applied the law in similar circumstance to remove a head of an arm of government; a situation, which renders his plea for pardon a complete nullity before the law.
The PDP holds that if President Buhari indeed seeks for pardon from Nigerians, he should do the needful by toeing the path of honour and vacating the Presidential seat without further delay.
It is disheartening that President Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC) would put our nation through the troubles of legal hassles when they knew all the while that they were building something on nothing.
The PDP therefore urges the Judiciary to consider the evidence before it and rescue our nation by expediting its verdict to point to nothing other than the justice of the matter in the Presidential election petition.
Senator Dino Melaye has denied allegations that he is the father of the child of former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tokunbo Idowu, popularly known as Tboss.
Melaye, who recently lost his party’s governorship primary in Kogi State, in a tweet on Sunday, congratulated Tboss on the birth of her child, adding that he never dated the reality TV star.
“I naturally should ignore lies making the rounds that I’m the father of Tboss’s child. Every child is a blessing from heaven to every new mother and I congratulate TBoss on the new bundle of Joy. As for the father, it’s not me. I never dated TBOSS,” Melaye said.
Tboss had on August 26 confirmed the birth of her child after months of silence on claims that she was pregnant.
The identity of her child’s father is not known.
Reports had hinted that the light-skinned Tboss was pregnant for reality TV star and actor, Uti Nwachukwu.
Both parties neither confirmed nor denied the reports.
Imagine walking in after a tiring day, and met all of your kids crying like those in this video, you rushed in asking what’s happening and met your wife crying with them. Thinking the worst only to realize that they were all crying because of a dead actress in a movie.
A group of people in a video were seen crying very loudly. Wondering the reason behind the shedding of their tears, it was then discovered that both the young and old girls were all crying because their favorite actress died in the movie series they were watching.
Nobody knows if they believe that the death of the actress really happened or maybe they know that she isn't really dead but were pained because she's their favorite in the movie.
General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has called on Nigerians to protect South Africans and their businesses in the face of xenophobic attacks on Nigerians resident in South Africa.
Adeboye said this on Friday night at the September edition of the monthly Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“I beg you in the name of God, don’t retaliate against South Africa,” he began.
Since news of the attacks on Nigerians broke, businesses with South African origin in Nigeria have faced reprisal attacks in Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja and a few other cities.
Adeboye recalled his frightening experience as a student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) at the onset of the civil war in 1967 when non-easterners were seized in the Eastern region as students of the University of Ibadan were also seized in the Western Region.
The preacher urged Nigerians against reprisal attacks for the sake of their countrymen who are still in South Africa.
He said: “Be careful. Don’t retaliate against South Africa, because of the Nigerians who are still in South Africa.
“So, for the sake of your own kit and kin, don’t retaliate against South Africa. Let us leave this job to the governments, let them solve this problem at the governmental level. Pray for them, that God will give them the wisdom, the understanding, the ability to do it.”
The presently trending hashtag on Twitter is #sackbuhari. This is the reaction of Nigerians on Twitter after the video where Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Lai Muhammed was pleading president Buhari’s behalf concerning his certificate got released and start circulating.
Lai Mohammed in a video that is presently trending on Twitter begs all Nigerians and the presidential election petition tribunal panel to forgive President Muhammadu Buhari for not submitting his certificates. He claimed that the president didn't know where he kept his result.
This particular video has got Nigerians talking, pinpointing how Nigeria is a dead nation that is being controlled by a dullard and lifeless president.
This has been the birth of the newly trending hashtag #sackbuhari.
The death of former Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe, has been officially confirmed, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV had earlier reported that the former leader passed on at 95 in Singapore, where he was seeking treatment.
Some called him a dictator, a tyrant, the “Hitler of our time” — when he was alive, he's super-cool and totally fine with it.
Amidst all of his controversial leadership style, Robert Mugabe’s pan-African views and belief was not in question. Were he not who he is, Zimbabwe’s independence story might not be as we know it.
The Fall Of Robert Mugabe
Robert Mugabe resigned as Zimbabwe’s president in 2017 to avoid impeachment which was the only legal way to get him out of power.
This was after the army and his former political allies (his own ruling party ZANU-PF party) made a strong move against him.
While in power, he was presented in a bad light by the Western for increased abuse of human rights and the rule law. Also, many people led by countries like the US and the Uk called for his government to accept peaceful democratic evolution. Apart from that, his government was also criticized for making uncivil and undiplomatic statements. He was nearly stopped from entering certain countries with the UK government suggesting that European Union should ban him from entering Europe.
However, in the face of all the criticisms and the strained relationship with the Western world, Robert Mugabe appeared less bothered. In 2016, he jailed an American based in Zimbabwe Martha O’ Donovan who called out on his government describing him as being sick and selfish.
Some Unforgettable Quotes by Robert Mugabe

11. Countries such as the U.S. and Britain have taken it upon themselves to decide for us in the developing world, even to interfere in our domestic affairs and to bring about what they call regime change.

13. If President Barack Obama wants me to allow marriage for same-sex couples in my country (Zimbabwe), he must come here so that I marry him first.
14. Racism will never end as long as white cars are still using black tires; If people still use black color for bad luck and white for peace; If people still wear white clothes to weddings and black clothes to funerals; As long as those who don’t pay their bills are blacklisted and not ‘whitelisted’… But I don’t care as long as I still use the white tissue paper to wipe my ass! With that only, I will always be very fine.
15. The land is ours. It’s not European and we have taken it, we have given it to the rightful people… Those of white extraction who happen to be in the country and are farming are welcome to do so, but they must do so on the basis of equality.
