Got my first Engineering before I completed my MSc. Had to apply for loads of jobs though but got to Assessment centre stage for so many graduates jobs then. I believe it should be easier now than before when resident Labour Market was required.

If you are hardworking and willing to put time into applications, you will likely get something. My advice is once you commence your MSc in September, start applying for jobs immediately. Most grad jobs open in October and close in December or January for the next Sept resumption. So start early. Learn how to carry out telephone interviews. Learn how to answer competency questions.

Schools used to organise mock interviews and sessions to look at your CV. Utilise that very well. Change your CV and make it more professional. Write a good cover letter. Finally, get a friend that has been successful that can help.

I had bank of competency questions then that covered a lot of soft skills such as team working, communication, difficult situations etc. Know how to structure your answers in STAR format.

My first professional job after bagging a UK degree and Msc in Petroleum engineering was at a railway station in London. I Worked there for almost 2yrs and gather my work experience. After 2 years got a good engineering job and the rest is honeymoon…. You won’t struggle for jobs as an engineer in the Uk especially a mechanical engineer. You just need a bit of tuning of your CV and some work experience …

@bronzedigger, like someone advised why not consider IT degrees such as data analysis, business analyst etc. You can get jobs in those as well. Gaining admission into Msc Nursing for someone without experience or background in health care is tough but not impossible. The schools offering admission into those courses are also limited so get ready for tough interview and some RPL assessment before getting admission.

Assuming you are going for data analysts for example, you can easily create your SOP and relate it to your experience in analysing data, developing CAD drawings, site works etc.

Meanwhile, as someone in construction, I would advise you to consider staying in the profession rather than jumping on the train of changing into nursing or any other career. I would advise you to consider Civil Engineering degrees as there are loads of jobs in the field for Project Engineers that can easily transition into Project Managers etc. Whilst that of mech engineers can be limited. Infact right now, if you have the knowledge of using Primavera software is an added advantage to work as Project Engineer/Planner and a lot of companies will rush to employ you.

You don't need any SOP for most UK universities. The UK does not conduct visa interviews. Anybody that is interested can study IT related courses. If you need to, state why you chose the course.
IT is much more than coding. There are IT fields you can get into with 3months of training/study. If you insist on a masters, subjects like cyber security and Data science could give you a very good chance of getting a job.

I am soliciting for advice as an Igbo business minded man, with UK Msc student visa. Before the conclusion of my 4 yrs in UK (2ys study and 2yrs Psw), I intend to be involved in exportation business.
I have some fund I put outside for used phone, laptop,electonics and bicycles. I have my contact in Alaba market Lagos.

Kindly guide me the right part to follow ahead of time or some one I can follow to be mentored.

I came across a youtube channel on study and work abroad wherein I contacted the owner and the he told me its possible to take masters in SOCIAL WORK as it has lots of opportunities or the PRE REGISTRATION MASTERS in Nursing programme with specialtyin mental health and after which I can get a job very easily even when my first degree is not in nursing... I currently have a BSC in mechanical engineering... how feasible is this considering I will be switching field and I starting a new career in a country I've never had any form of experience...... what are the factors to consider, school to apply,cost of programme and building professional work experience if I intend to go through this path.. I need advice as well as suggestions... GURUS IN D HOUSE, DOCTORS, NURSES.. your inestimable response is highly very needed...
