Politics › PDP Holds Secret Talks With Saraki, Atiku, Tambuwal, Kwankwaso, Others by BrosPeter(op): 11:34am On Nov 15, 2015 |
As part of its desperate bid to re-launch itself into national reckoning, the People’s Democratic Party is making subtle moves to bring back ex-governors and other party heavyweights who defected to the governing All Progressives Congress to the party.
Among those being targeted by PDP are ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Senate President Bukola Saraki; ex-governors Rabiu Kwankwaso, Danjuma Goje, Aliyu Wammako, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, several APC Senators, members of the House of Representatives and others.
However, according to reports, none of the leaders or members of the National Assembly has yet agreed to the overtures.
It was gathered that the PDP leadership is desperate to have the ex-governors and defectors back in the fold and has resorted to tracking the movement of the targeted APC leaders abroad for further talks.
The party is said to be focusing on the North-East, North-West and North-Central even as it does not want to lose its grip on the South-South and South-East.
It is also said to be weighing the option of conceding the party’s presidential ticket to the North-East in 2019.
“We are determined to bring back our top leaders who defected to APC. We want to heal wounds, we are already reaching out to some of these ex-governors and leaders,” a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) said.
“So far, none of them has made any commitment. Some of them have become disenchanted with PDP to the extent that they don’t want to hear the name of this party again.
“Others are demanding reforms in PDP before they can even contemplate thinking about their return to our party.
“We are leaving all options open and we are reaching out to top leaders, ex-governors and the grassroots. We will return PDP to its original ideals.”
It was learnt that the absence of ex-President Ibrahim Babangida; ex-Minister of Finance, Mallam Adamu Ciroma; ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo and influential party leaders from the North at the party’s National Conference on Thursday jolted the NWC and left them with the impression that North is not about to forgive the party yet.
Another source said: “I think the challenge facing PDP now is that Southern elements have hijacked the structure of the party and no one is happy about it.
“Certainly, they must restructure the party to create a sense of belonging for all. So far, what we see is the same South-South and South-East elements trying to play on the intelligence of the North again.
“Let them come up with terms which will guarantee fairness and Justice for all. For instance, why will PDP not respect its zoning formula on party offices?
“Why can’t an acting National Chairman emerge from the North-East to which it was originally zoned?
“If PDP is seeking equity, it must do so with clean hands.” http://www.theheraldng.com/pdp-holds-secret-talks-with-saraki-atiku-tambuwal-kwankwaso-others/?wt=5 |

Don Robert Omojesu I did not apply to join that fraud you call Niger Delta chat group you people included me and gave you the majority opinion of our people….NIGER DELTA IS BIAFRA. Isaac Adaka Boro the doyen of our struggle posits that the Niger Delta is situated in the Bight Of Biafra… “The Niger Delta we shall consider is strictly the area occupied by the Ijaws, the aboriginal tribe of the Delta. It spans the coast of the BIGHT OF BIAFRA , from the Forcados River to the Opobo River upstream to the Niger tributaries of the Nun and Forcados Rivers.” Twelve Days Revolution The Willinks expanded the definition of the Niger Delta to include Ogonis https://web.facebook.com/mujahid.dokuboasari1 |

We constitute one of the major pillars of Nigeria amongst the other 3 major pillars. As such a charlatan cannot speak for our common wishes and aspiration, we will intelectually achieve our dreams someday nonviolently Your argument he's paid to destabilize govt of the day holds no water. I don't wanna act like am Igbo but truth be said you lied up there. The Kanu guy started his fight and propaganda before Buhari won the election. |

FastShipping: Fela took more beating under Obasanjo/Yar'Adua regime (1976-1979) and Shagari administration (1979-83) than he got under Buhari regime. He was only jailed under Buhari regime.
These kids just go around and talk rubbish. They need to do some reading or ask elders who were alive to witness what transpired between Fela and the government. Fela died 12 years after Buhari was overthrown.
So who killed Fela? Buhari's beating should be overlooked, Fela took more beatings from his fellow Yoruba man. Does this make sense? |

https://venturesafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/o-FELA-KUTI-facebook.jpgControversial rapper Eedris Abdulkareem took a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari at the on-going #Felabration2015. He has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari of killing Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
The legendary Afrobeat singer was arrested many times under the various regimes. Fela Kuti was sentenced to five years in prison by the military tribunal for currency charges when Major-General Muhammadu Buhari took power after a coup in December 1983. The singer spent over a year in jail. Seun Kuti, one of Fela’s children, showed his dissatisfaction when Buhari was back as a civilian president, and he was cited to have directed this comment to the incumbent president: “For you to jail that man you must be inherently evil.” But Fela’s son is not the only one expressing his angriness.
On October 16, at the current #Felabration2015, Abdulkareem took his rage to a new level by accusing Buhari of killing Fela Kuti in 1976. “In 1976, na Buhari kill Fela. Na the same old people dey rule us,” Eedris Abdulkareem said. https://www.naij.com/607913-bombshell-1976-na-buhari-kill-fela-eedris-abdulkareem.html |

President Muhammadu Buhari will not force any of his ministers to publicly declare their assets and liabilities, the Presidency said on Friday. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, who confirmed the position while responding to inquiries by the Saturday Tribune, said that the President will comply with the provisions of the Constitution in handling the matter. Adesina, was asked two questions by our correspondent, including whether the President will require the ministers to publicly declare their assets as he did recently and when the President will make public the assets of his wife as contained in the Code of Conduct form he (the President) submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). The presidential spokesman simply replied: “The President will do whatever the law requires.” He was silent on the time the President would possibly authorise the release of the assets of his wife as contained in the CCB form submitted by Buhari. Section 11(1) (a, b)of the Fifth Schedule to the 1999 Constitution requires every public officer to declare his assets before the CCB and that of his her spouse and unmarried children below the age of 18 years. Section 11(1) of the Fifth Schedule reads: “Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, every public officer shall within three months after the coming into force of this Code of Conduct or immediately after taking office and thereafter-(A) at the end of every four years; and (B) at the end of his term of office, Submit to the Code of Conduct Bureau a written declaration of all his assets, and liabilities and those of his unmarried children under the age of eighteen years.” http://tribuneonlineng.com/node/19834 |

We’ve recovered from last election’s disappointing loss – PDP
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said that the party has recovered from the disappointing loss it suffered by losing power at the centre in the last Presidential election. At its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, the PDP said it has already moved from pain, despair, soul- searching and have started the process of rebuilding confidence for a brighter future for the party.
The Ag. National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, who presided over the meeting said, “Our party has witnessed challenging times after our disappointing loss in the last elections. We moved from pain, despair, soul- searching and now by the grace of the Almighty God, we have started the process of rebuilding confidence in ourselves for a brighter future for the party.”
According to him, the first step pursuant to soul searching was the resignation of Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu and Chief Tony Anenih as National Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Trustees respectively.
Secondus called the attention of Nigerians to what the party described as selective implementation of the ongoing anti-corruption fight, saying members of the party were being singled out for prosecution.
“It would be morally repugnant to target PDP members while seemingly protecting APC members. All we are calling for is an equal and fair treatment of all Nigerians under the law.
“Government should prevent the slide of our dear country into a police state by controlling some of the brazen acts of the security agencies against state institutions as exemplified in the invasion of the Akwa Ibom Government House by some officers of the DSS.
“In the same vein, we call on the federal government to come out straight with Nigerians on the state of our economy, which is gradually sliding into recession.
“It appears that the lack of an economic direction and remedial actions from the government is having a debilitating effect on the economy. Jobs are being lost and small businesses are closing shops as a result of the lack of constructive economic engagement from the APC government,” the party chairman added.
Also speaking at the event, Ondo State governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, said the PDP liberalised the democratic space in the 16 years it held power at the centre. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/10/weve-recovered-from-last-elections-disappointing-loss-pdp/ |

It pointed out that this accounted for the emergence of Senator Ike Ekweremadu as the Deputy Senate President, a feat it described as unprecedented in the political history of Nigeria.
Acting National Chairman of the party, Mr. Uche Secondus, made this assertion while addressing members of the PDP National Executive Committee on Thursday in Abuja. http://officialpunchng..com.ng/ |

Former Governor Tunde Fashola is a favourite for many Nigerians to emerge the Minister of Works, however like most civil servants in Nigeria, he is subject to the growing scrutiny Nigerians are beaming on public servants.
One of the foremost issues on the minds of many Nigerians was how he would respond to the allegations of sleaze concerning the award of a N78 million personal website during his tenure.
The Herald monitored comments on an article on the front page of Nairaland as concerns this very issue.
The former governor, who indirectly addressed the issue after the question, ”Did you really open a Website with 78Million Naira?” was raised by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe at the senate while he, Fashola was undergoing screening as a ministerial nominee at the senate chambers said he doesn’t sign checks or award contracts.
He added, “I don’t fix contract prices, it is an institutional process. The only training I have is that of a lawyer, But in order to execute works on a project we need the input of architect, quantity surveyors, structural engineer and we have consulting ministries; For civil works it is the Ministry of Works, for science it is the Ministry of Science and Technology among others.
His response generated so much interests from Nigerians who expressed their feelings on the social media. http://www.theheraldng.com/nigerians-react-to-fasholas-explanation-of-n78-million-website-in-screening-aftermath/

Politics › Obasanjo Lead Colombian Security Experts To Meet Buhari by BrosPeter(op): 7:42pm On Oct 13, 2015 |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday led a team of Colombian security experts to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to share their professional experience in combating terror.
Fielding questions from State House correspondents after the closed door meeting with the president, Obasanjo said that Nigeria needed to learn how Colombia survived insurgency for more than 50 years.
“I brought a delegation of those of us who visited Colombia last year under the auspices of a foundation which I’m the chairman.
“We went to Colombia to see how the Colombian authorities were handling the issue of insurgency which had been with them for more than 50 years.
“As a result of that visit and the experience we had, a book was produced.
“I said to them that it will be interesting for us in Nigeria to learn as much as we can learn from the experience of Colombia,’’ he said.
The former President said he also briefed President Buhari on his assignment as special envoy to Guinea Bissau.
“The last time we were able to resolve all the issues of getting a new Prime Minister. This time, we had also been able to resolve the issue of forming a government.
“If nothing intervenes, I believe between today and tomorrow, a new government will be in place in Guinea Bissau. They have been without government for almost two months” he said.
On the possibility of the Nigerian Armed Forces meeting the three months deadline to defeat the Boko Haram sect, Obasanjo said that the deadline was not cast on stones but merely to encourage them to crush the sect.
“The president must give a target. When you give somebody a target, you give him something to aspire to, giving him an objective. Target is not cast in stone.
“I believe that if you are talking of getting the upper hand, gradually, we are getting the upper hand.
“We are not there yet but we are getting close. And once we are getting the upper hand, we move on and do other things,’’ he said. (NAN) http://dailypost.ng/2015/10/13/boko-haram-obasanjo-leads-colombian-security-experts-to-buhari/?wt=4 |

Politics › Buhari Sacks His Liaison Officer by BrosPeter(op): 9:18pm On Oct 10, 2015 |
No reason was given for the president’s decision which has also not been officially announced. According to Sunday Vanguard sources, Alhaji Rimi who served as President Goodluck Jonathan’s Chief Protocol Officer was posted to Nigeria Embassy in Abu Dhabi shortly before the presidential Election but was recalled by President Buhari who appointed him as his PLO before his inauguration. His removal was effected last week, though no reason was given for his sudden disengagement from the Presidential Villa. He is a career civil servant who had served in high positions including Nigeria\’s embassy in the United States of America before he was posted to the presidential Villa as a Protocol officer where he served both President Umaru YarAdua and President Jonathan. During last visit to the United Nations General Assembly meeting in the United States of America, Alhaji Nura was with President Buhari entourage and facilitated most of the meetings that President Buhari attended in the sidelines of the UNGA. Since his swearing in, President Buhari has sacked some of his key aides including the CSO, Mani Abdulrahman and Widi Liman the Administrative Officer in the Presidential Villa. Repeated calls to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Femi Adeshina were unanswered as at the time of filing this report.
