Nnamdi Kanu in an unconfirmed statement yesterday was said to have dropped his Biafra agitation. an unconfirmed report which was widely circulated online had alluded to a statement in which Nnamdi Kanu was said to have renounced Biafra struggle. The purported statement read in full: "I have no secession agenda. I don't want to pull the Igbos out of Nigeria. Yes, I called Nigeria a zoo. A country of my parents, grandparents, great grandparents, great, great grandparents, can't possibly be a zoo. "I am happy that what we set out to do has gained outstanding traction. Today, I have gained popularity far more than I desired. No other propaganda could have sold into the hearts of my Igbo brothers and sisters and drew sympathy than what I did on Radio Biafra. "I have no secession agenda. I don't want to pull the Igbos out of Nigeria. Yes, I called Nigeria a zoo. A country of my parents, grandparents, great grandparents, great, great grandparents, can't possibly be a zoo. I am happy that what we set out to do has gained outstanding traction. "Today, I have gained popularity far more than I desired. No other propaganda could have sold into the hearts of my Igbo brothers and sisters and drew sympathy than what I did on Radio Biafra. "Radio Biafra became the thorn in the flesh of The Establishment. Day by day, we intensified our campaign against the Buhari government. "That was the target and still remains the target. The Radio Biafra became an alternative voice for the PDP. The PDP as a party has never let me down. "It is a partnership I have never regretted. As partners, the ultimate benefit of this mutuality is the democratic enthronement of a new government with the present occupants completely shut out. The 2015 loss should teach all of us some lesson. "Today, my biggest fans, Gov. Fayose and Femi Fani-Kayode are of the Yoruba stock. Let me use this opportunity to apologize to the Yorubas, a race I have so denigrated in my previous speeches. "I am sorry. With Fayose and FFK solidly behind me, we shall have a new Nigeria where the interest of all citizens will be protected. "In the days ahead, I shall roll out a new style of communication that will not only unify Nigeria but make it a country of choice," he said. Recall that hotgistnaija.com also reported that it could not independently verify the statement as it is believed in some quarters that Nnamdi Kanu would not make such statement given his cult followership and tenacity about the actualisation of Biafra. Meanwhile, in this hotgistnaija.com video below, watch reactions that trailed the bail condition granted to Nnamdi Kanu in court today. COURTESY: http://hotgistnaija.com

A rally planned for the Eagle Square in Abuja to mark this year’s May Day was disrupted yesterday as thousands of unionists demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari “must address the suffering workers.” As in Nigeria, millions of protesters across the world hit the streets to mark the day. The protests became violent in some parts of Nigeria, France, Turkey, United States of America (USA), Spain and Russia, among others. In Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, hoodlums violently disrupted a rally organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) forcing participants to flee. Known as May Day, the first day of every fifth month is set aside either to celebrate workers’ rights or as a day of protests and riots. It traces its modern roots back to a world-changing explosion in Chicago. It was originally an ancient pagan holiday celebrating the start of summer. Different groups overtime adapted the celebration to suit their specific cultures and beliefs. Nigerian workers have been pressing for as much 300 per cent increase in minimum wage — from the current N18, 000 (less than $50) — to mitigate the impact of official pump price of petrol which jumped from N86 per litre to N145. The drama in Abuja started, when the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, failed to appear in person to address the workers, but said he would only deliver President Buhari’s message to them. The workers, who claimed to have been deceived on many occasions by Ngige, approached the podium and disallowed further proceedings, warning that they would only listen to the president they voted for in 2015, especially as he had promised to help cushion the sufferings of millions of Nigerian workers. The Senate has perfected plans to withhold the confirmation of nominees by President Muhammadu Buhari as part of the lawmakers’ strategies for a showdown with the Presidency. This is notwithstanding the recent move by the Presidency to reconcile with the Senate. The upper chamber of the National Assembly is considering placing an “embargo” on approval of appointments by the President until the legislature and the executive resolved the lingering crisis between them. It was gathered on Sunday that the Senate would make the move based on the recent comment by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who said he agreed with human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), that Section 171 of the Constitution empowers the President to make some appointments without National Assembly’s approval. An impeccable source in the leadership of the Senate told our correspondent that a constitutional crisis was brewing in the country. According to the source, the legislature and the executive have conflicting interpretation of the Constitution on their powers and responsibilities. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said while an intervention by the judiciary would be needed, the executive should go to court and not the legislature. The Presidency and the Senate had clashed over the retention of Mr. Ibrahim Magu as acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission despite the rejection of his appointment by the legislature. The Senate had, on March 28, 2017, suspended the consideration of the 27 nominees by the President as Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission for two weeks. The move was to protest the Presidency’s insistence on Magu as the acting Chairman of EFCC. SEE FULL REPORT: http://www.hotgistnaija.com/senate-plans-fresh-showdown-presidency-magu/

North Korea has released shocking images of massive military drills that show the West that they are more than ready for war. The gut-wrenching show of force reveals Kim Jong-un’s fighter jets, attack submarines, and multiple artillery units. The shocking photo shows an entire beach on the east coast of the hermit state littered with explosions as soldiers carry out pre-war drills. Submarines emerge from the water off port town of Wonsan as jets take off and land and it’s now estimated that 300 – 400 artillery units have been used in the drills, as confirmed by South Korea. They said they were monitoring the situation, which they described as a “large-scale firing drill” and said they were “firmly maintaining readiness”. A North Korea propaganda newspaper based in Pyongyang said: “There is no limit to the strike power of the People’s Army armed with our style of cutting-edge military equipment including various precision and miniaturised nuclear weapons and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.” MORE PHOTOS AND VIDEO: http://www.hotgistnaija.com/world-war-iii-north-korea-release-shocking-images-tanks-lined-war-us/

Mr. Oloyede, a professor, said internal and external personnel would monitor the 633 Computer Based Tests centres across the country for the UTME exams.
