Brtrue: Good day house,
My sibling intends to apply for undergraduate studies in Germany this Winter session and he has completed 100 level at Lautech already. However, all the schools we checked on daad.de require IELTS or TOEFL for BSc admission. Is it possible for this requirement to be waived? Maybe a letter showing he completed his 100 level courses in English? If not, which is better? TOEFL or IELTS? Another thing is that it wasn't specified if the IELTS should be General or Academic on the website. Can he do any of the IELTS?
Please I will appreciate your input.
Thanks. Seniors in the house, kindly weigh in I beg of you. Some schools have language requirement as "University Entrance Qualification acquired at an English speaking school". Does it mean a letter of English proficiency is enough for these schools. I need guidance please |

Aerofly76: The little I know. Anything school will require IELTS(academic module). The other one can be for work or immigration stuff. A past post talked about IELTS/TOEFL. I once did TOEFL (got 91) and I think concentration is critical. Full one. U miss a few things and u will know right in the exam hall u have blown it. I believe same will go for IELTS also. U just got to prepare well. Prepare well and whichever of the two won't make a difference. Got no answer to your first question. thank for your kind response |

zanyzara: This school tier issue is just a way of rating schools as equivalent to Australian degrees.
A tier 1 school would be rated equivalent to Australian Bachelor degree which is 15 points while a tier 2 would most likely be rated as Associate degree which is 10 points. The duration of courses play a role too.
Accountants need 80points now to have a chance.
Calculate your points and decide. . If my qualification will be assessed as Associates degree then I had better not bother. From what I read on IPA website, one's qualification must have been assessed as equal to Australian bachelors before one can proceed to skills assessment. Thanks for your kind response |
