Don’t break, bounce back (1) Fri, 2 May 2025 ‘Since my youth they have often attacked me, but they have not prevailed against me.’ Psalm 129:2 When resilient people hit bottom, they don’t break, they bounce back. The apostle Paul was such a person: ‘We are afflicted in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed.’ (2 Corinthians 4:8-9 CSB). So, how can you bounce back instead of breaking? By doing two things: 1) When you can’t control your circumstances, take control of your life. When a back injury paralysed Angela Madsen from the waist down, she vowed to do whatever it took to get back up. As a result, she started training to be the first woman with a disability to row across the Atlantic. Journalist Denise Foley writes: ‘Madsen is what researchers call ‘resilient’… able to rebound from whatever difficulty life brings. She is one of those people who … make us wonder how we would fare if our own mettle were tested. Would we bounce back?’ 2) Instead of complaining about the wrong people being in your life, start looking for the right people. Ned Hallowell grew up with a father with bipolar, an abusive stepfather, an alcoholic mother, and two learning disabilities—a history that’s often a precursor to jail or a mental health facility. But he went on to become a prominent psychiatrist, a happily married father, and a successful author. It happened largely because, at a boarding school, he attached himself to teachers who cared about him and took him under their wing. So, when times are tough, lean on God, take control of your life, and look for the right people. |

Consult God on your daily to-do list Thu, 1 May 2025 ‘A person's steps are established by the LORD, and he takes pleasure in his way.’ Psalm 37:23 To come up with a daily to-do list that keeps your peace and joy intact, consult God. When you take on too much, you set yourself up for failure, and stress. If you’re wise, you won’t schedule more than one or two major tasks in a day. Life doesn’t run smoothly, no matter how badly you want it to. So, build in time for interruptions, traffic jams, lost keys, slow-moving people, etc. And be careful about multi-tasking. Studies have connected high-stress multi-tasking to short-term memory loss. Experts have concluded that multi-tasking makes you less efficient because it decreases the brainpower needed to execute each task. So, make yourself finish one task before beginning another. To be productive, you must be focused. And one more thought—a very important one: solitude is essential to success! Before Jesus picked His disciples, fed the multitude, and calmed the storm, He took time to be alone with God in prayer. He did, but we don’t, and it shows up in the results we get! We pick the wrong people, lack the necessary resources to meet the need, and the storms of life overwhelm us. The great thing about prayer is that you can do it anywhere—in a traffic commute, in the checkout line at the supermarket, on your lunch break, or when your eyes first open in the morning. Bottom line: since God ‘takes pleasure in each step’ of your life, begin to involve Him more. Welcome to the month of May. Happy New Month. May the month of May bring us joy, goodness and blessing in Jesus name 🙏. |

When others ‘don’t get it’ Wed, 30 Apr 2025 ‘But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them.’ 1 Corinthians 2:14 When you share your faith with someone and they don’t seem to ‘get it’, don’t be disappointed, don’t be upset, and don’t be impatient. In Scripture, God’s Word is referred to as ‘seed’ (see Luke 8:11), so that makes you a sower. Yes, we would all like to sow and then reap as quickly as possible. But sowing and reaping each have their own season. When the finger of God began to write King Belshazzar’s fate on the walls of his palace and none of his wise men could interpret it, they called for Daniel the prophet. Up until then he was basically persona non grata. But Daniel was ready when his time came, and you must be too. Here are two Scriptures you must keep in mind when you share your faith with someone: 1) ‘But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means’ (1 Corinthians 2:14 NLT). 2) ‘… And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. …’ (1 Peter 3:15-16 NLT). God has called you to share the truth of His Word with others, but only the Spirit of God can help them to ‘get it’. You have not been called to convince, convict, convert, or change anybody, but to sow the seed of God’s Word each opportunity you get and to leave the rest to God’s Spirit. And when you do your part, you can trust God to do His part. |

Shake it off, and move forward Tue, 29 Apr 2025 ‘Shake off the dust under your feet.’ Mark 6:11 Let’s be honest, each of us wants others to love, respect, and accept us. But when people are unready or unwilling to change or haven’t experienced the joy and fulfilment in Christ that you have, you will often experience rejection. Indeed, when you follow Jesus, rejection is guaranteed. What should you do? Here is what Jesus told His disciples to do: ‘… “In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place. And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them.” … So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them’ (Mark 6:10-13 NKJV). When their circumstances change tomorrow, some of those who reject you today will be open and ready to receive what you have to share. People fear what they don’t understand, and some even fight against it. So when you bump into people who ‘will not receive you nor hear you’, love them, pray for them, shake it off, and move forwards. Don’t allow those who are not ready to receive what you have to share keep you from taking it to those who are ready. One of Paul’s first converts in Macedonia was Lydia. Note what the Bible says: ‘… The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. … she and her household were baptised, ...’ (Acts 16:14-15 NKJV). Try to remember this: you are the messenger, and the Lord is the ‘heart opener’. Do your part, and He will do His. |
Is God shaking you up? Mon, 28 Apr 2025 ‘The Lord … set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones … and … they were very dry.’ Ezekiel 37:1-2 God told Ezekiel to declare His Word to a valley full of bones, and they became a mighty army. These bones were dead, dry, and in disarray. That may describe where you are today. Your hopes are dead, your soul is dry, your life in disarray. What’s the answer? 1) You need God to shake things up in your life. ‘… there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone’ (Ezekiel 37:7 NKJV). If it feels like things are being shaken up in your personal life, your home life, and your work life, rejoice; it means God has great plans for you. 2) You need God to speak to you through His Word. ‘… O dry bones, hear the Word of the Lord!’ (Ezekiel 37: 4 NKJV). God’s Word turned this bunch of bones into a mighty army that could conquer, win, and fulfil His purposes. And God’s Word will do the same for you. Jesus said, ‘“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”’ (John 8:32 NKJV). So, get into God’s Word, and get God’s Word into you. 3) You need God to breathe His Holy Spirit on you. ‘… O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” … and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army’ (Ezekiel 37:9-10 NKJV). When you’re empowered by His Spirit, you will exceed your own expectations and do great things for God. Ezekiel couldn’t see the potential in those bones until God showed it to him. So, no matter what others say, God sees potential in you and that’s why He is shaking you up. |

Refuse to wear the label Sun, 27 Apr 2025 ‘His mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”’ 1 Chronicles 4:9 The name Jabez means ‘pain and trouble’. Perhaps that’s why no other parent in Scripture gave their child that name. But it’s a label he refused to wear and a name he refused to be defined by. A label usually tells you what is in a bottle; its contents and even its value. And when you accept the labels people try to put on you, you start to believe that’s who you really are and that you will never become anything more than that. The Bible says, ‘For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. …’ (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV). People will use past experiences to label and limit you. They will also use your physical, mental, and emotional characteristics to label and limit you. What should you do? Do what Jabez did—go to God! In the final analysis, His opinion about your past, present, and future is the one that matters most. Plus, He loves you and has a plan for your life. Jabez prayed a prayer that changed his life, and it will change your life too. ‘And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested’ (1 Chronicles 4:10 NKJV). Jabez asked God for four things: blessing, influence, power, and protection. And God gave them to him. So, today you have a choice: believe what others say about you or believe what God says about you. When you look at it that way, the choice is clear. |

Keep praying and believing Sat, 26 Apr 2025 ‘For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.’ Hebrews 10:36 How long should you keep praying and believing God for the answer? This Scripture addresses your question: ‘Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise’ (Hebrews 10:35-36 NKJV). Many of God’s promises have timelines, and you need long-distance faith to receive them. Note the word ‘endurance’, and picture yourself as a marathon runner determined to finish the race and receive the prize. Note the words ‘after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise’.You say, ‘I’m not sure what God’s will in this matter is.’ What does God’s Word say? That’s what you must obey, stand on, and speak over your situation. For twenty years Abraham looked up into the night sky believing: ‘Lord, you said my children would be as numerous as the stars. I don’t know how you’re going to do it because I’m a hundred years old and my wife Sarah is ninety. But I’m going to believe you anyway’ (see Genesis 15:5-6). When you pray that way, you risk looking foolish in the eyes of others. But receiving the miraculous can involve looking ridiculous, like Jesus telling servants to fill pots with water when what they needed was wine. Or rubbing clay on a blind man’s eyes so that he would receive his sight. But the wedding guests drank the finest wine, and the blind man went home seeing. Why? Because they stood on the Word Jesus gave them. And you must do that too. |
Imagine? Orubebe of our time.......😂😂😂 |
Find prayer partners Fri, 25 Apr 2025 ‘Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men.’ Mark 2:3 You say, ‘I don’t have faith to be healed.’ Then find some prayer partners with faith. ‘Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith … He said to the paralytic, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”’ (Mark 2:3-5, 10-12 NKJV). Notice two important phrases in this story. First, ‘when they had broken through’. Second, ‘When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic’. If you don’t have faith to be healed, look for those who can carry you into the presence of Jesus in prayer, believe God for you, and who can ‘pray through’ until God answers. This paralysed man needed four friends with faith—you only need two. Jesus said, ‘“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven’ (Matthew 18:19 NKJV). This raises some important questions. How often do you pray? Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Only when you have a problem you cannot solve? Are all your prayers self-focused, or do you pray for others? To have prayer partners when you need them, you must be one. Let’s remember our fallen soldiers this ANZAC Day and pray for all those fighting on the front lines today that they may know Jesus and be comforted in their time of need. |
Growth is about enlargement Thu, 24 Apr 2025 ‘You enlarged my path,’ Psalm 18:36 Read these enlargement Scriptures: ‘You enlarged my path under me, so my feet did not slip’ (Psalm 18:36 NKJV). ‘And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, …”’ (1 Chronicles 4:10 NKJV). ‘Enlarge the place of your tent … lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes’ (Isaiah 54:2 NKJV). God wants to enlarge you spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and in every area of your life. But to experience enlargement, you must learn from people larger than you. American author Dr John Maxwell writes: ‘The first ten years that I was intentionally pursuing personal growth, I was always behind trying to catch up. I had to get over the comparison gap. I recognised I needed to be exposed to bigger and better leaders outside of my own small circle, but when I stepped out of my comfort zone, I was intimidated. It was clear that I was not in their league. Their organisations were six times the size of mine, and they had many more and much better ideas than I did. I felt like I was in over my head and trying to swim. Despite that, I was encouraged. Why? Because I discovered that great men were willing to share their ideas. And I was learning so much. You can only learn if others are ahead of you. It was a difficult transition, but it was well worth it. So if you are aware that others are better than you, don’t be discouraged. Be glad others are there to help show you the way. Growth is not a rocking chair you sit in, it’s a mountain you climb each day. But there is good news. As Jim Rohn said, “You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight.”’ |
A prayer answered today. Thank you Jesus 🙏 |
Today expect God’s favour Wed, 23 Apr 2025 ‘For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favour You will surround him as with a shield.’ Psalm 5:12 The Bible says that God will surround the righteous with favour. If you are trusting in the finished work of Christ, God sees you as ‘righteous’ (see Romans 3:22). So, you qualify; you can pray, ‘Lord, I need your favour in this job interview,’ or ‘in selling this house’, or ‘in making this deal’, or ‘in going on this date’, etc. Be prepared for your old programming to kick in, where you think about the word ‘righteous’; you begin to wonder if your thoughts, words, and deeds are good enough to deserve God’s favour. Here is a truth you need to keep in mind: the only righteousness that God responds to is the righteousness of Christ. And since He has placed you ‘in Christ’, you are always qualified to ask God for favour and believe He will grant it. You are saved by grace. And the word grace means ‘unearned, unmerited, undeserved favour’. The world’s concept of favour is misleading: ‘She owes me a favour,’ or ‘I don’t owe you any favours!’ In other words, the world’s concept of favour is totally performance based. But the only performance God looks at when it comes to granting you His favour is Christ’s performance on your behalf and the fact that you are trusting totally in Him. His life covers all your sins of omission, and His death covers all your sins of commission. And since God always sees you ‘in Christ’, in His eyes you are always qualified for favour. ‘… righteousness … shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead’ (Romans 4:22, 24 NKJV). So, today expect God’s favour. |

Governed by Christ’s love for us Tue, 22 Apr 2025 ‘For the love of Christ compels us,’ 2 Corinthians 5:14 The most powerful incentive to overcoming sin is not our love for Christ, but His love for us. Even with the best of intentions, our love for Him is subject to fluctuations. Jesus said to the church in Ephesus, ‘'But I have this against you, that you have left your first love”’ (Revelation 2:4 NASB20). He said to the church in Laodicea that their love had become ‘lukewarm’ (see Revelation 3:16). Many of us grew up in churches where we were told that the reason we yield to certain carnal traits is because we don’t love the Lord enough. So, we try harder, without success, and get discouraged. That’s like putting the cart before the horse. It should be the other way around. The secret of victorious Christian living is not found in trying to love Jesus more, but in having a revelation of His love for you. That’s why Paul wrote, ‘For the love of Christ compels us, since we have reached this conclusion, that one died for all, and therefore all died.’ (2 Corinthians 5:14 CSB) Paul’s actions were governed by the knowledge of Christ’s incredible love for Him. If you’re struggling with sinful habits today, pray for a revelation of God’s love for you. It makes all the difference! Paul writes: ‘And that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God's love, and to know Christ's love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.’ (Ephesians 3:17-19 CSB). |
