These are people who know the meaning of GDP
You are very correct brother! It doesnt make any sense that the GDP of a country fell by 50% in 1yr. We definitely have to adjust for exchange rate!
PoliticsRe: How Nigeria Knocked Out South Africa In Global GDP Contributions by Buccalcavity2: 1:57pm On Feb 03
mrvitalis:
Lmaooo once you See APC paid write up you just know

Nigeria GDP is not bigger than South Africa GDP we are 40% or more short off

Real GDP contribution is largely driven by population and not productivity

You know the painful part? APC guys know this but would still push the wrong narrative

Same when they started measuring GDP in PPP lol
Firstly, the article did not focus Nigerias gdp vs SAs. Real gdp contribution was discussed with occasional allusion to growth rates.
Secondly, real gdp is not driven by productivity but population? It is better you stuck to your ethnic/ipob subjects rather than this bogus claim. Real gdp is the adjustment of nominal gdp for inflation, hence a measurement of productivity, backing out price increases effect.
Lastly, economists are not only obssesed with nominal gdp like you coz they know there are factors that can skew the usd gdp calc, hence, real gdp, gdp ppp and gdp per capita are also used. Why do you think US is bothered by China? Answer is in gdp ppp, amongst others.

seunmsg:
In terms of actual productivity, our economy did not go down. In fact, our economy experienced real growth as seen in our GDP IN naira. The reduction in our USD GDP is simply as a result of devaluation of our currency. Under Buhari, they calculated the GDP using an official exchange rate of $1=N460. Tinubu floated the exchange rate and we moved to $1=N1450 as official exchange rate. So, the exchange rate differentials accounted for the reduction in the USD GDP while in reality, our Naira GDP has increased tremendously and that's the actual test of our productivity.
Correct guy! It is why GDP PPP is appropriate in this case to adjust for exchange rate vagaries...but mrvitalis will never understand!

AA Yussuf. Is that not the officer that blocked Fashola on BRT lane some years back? His department gave him out. If true, I really pity him.
Y'all are prep for consequences sha. Sad that in coups, there are people used as tools and there're true plotters (just like in 1966).

The cool thing about the administration is how he institionalized these changes. Tax reforms, oil and gas changes, fx alignment, infrastructure devp. with concessioning arrangements.

It is the major thing that draws me to Wike. He is always on the right side of justice! I may not like his person but his judgement is on point!
1. Wike vs FG on VAT
2. Wike vs Fubara
3. Wike vs Soldier
4. Wike vs PDP faction(s)
Losers say he bribes judges but we all know that is a ruse. How many judges does he want to bribe? How do you bribe all layers of judges...from tribunal, to appellate , to supreme...on all cases. haba!

Everyone has a right including criminals, having right means you'll have to a lawyer and a fair hearing in due time under the law of the land, if you are found guilty then you face the penalty. In MNK matters Nigeria government has trampled upon his right, they kidnapped him and also held him hostage all these while. They could have tried him and if he's guilty then sentence him to whatever the penalty is just as the Finnish just did to Ekpa.
Now that he's been convicted, what do you say? Switch tongue? Or blame prosecutor?

PoliticsRe: Igbos Are Very Organised Politically, Don't Underate Them by Buccalcavity2: 9:22pm On Jan 27
💯.
Pre colonialism, only Igbo ethnic group had no direct contact with Europeans, of all the major ethnic groups. Yet by 1937, igbos dominated and led the old Eastern region. By 1951, igbo was going to dominate the entire southern Nigeria, having Igbo contest premiership both in SE and SW regions. By 1960, Igbos dominated National politics, having dominated civil service and leading Nigeria. During the civil war, how igbos convinced even the supposed "enlightened professionals" to all relocate to the east is a tip to the level of organization.
Even in the 4th republic, The coded support the majority Igbo ethnic group gave NK and PO over their (mis)adventure is an eye opener.
You'll be surprised that your friend that just joined you in condemning a rhetoric by NK is codedly funding IPOB through contributions! Good example is the recent lobby in Washington.
Dont ever underestimate Igbo, very purposeful in its tendency! Every ethnic group must embrace their Enlightened Self Interest and pursue it! Blind unitary system is a RUSE!

CelebritiesRe: I Love Wizkid But He Shouldn’t Have Insulted My Father – Yeni Kuti by Buccalcavity2: 3:22pm On Jan 23
See. I cant even bring myself to compare Whiz and Fela. So i usually skip past any post like that until today.
If you see Fela as one smoking popular musician, you are jonzing!
I got very interested in Fela in my days in UI when I found that there is a school (of thought) of Fela in the faculty of arts. Funny thing is Fela doesnt even coordinate it. Just a group of scholars coming to debate world politics and they align with Fela's views, call it Fela's School. There was one of the debates I saw one yoruba actress (Aunty Ayo) also came to debate.
Fela was an iconoclast! And it runs in the lineage. Felas grandpa was the first Nigerian to introduce indigenous music into christainity (was seen as a rebel by the CMS). His mum was the famous funmilayo ransom kuti (Abeokuta Rebel and also under reported in her fight for Nigerias independence). Kongi, Beko....have that blood, all iconoclast! That's a blood you want to have in your lineage. I really tried to.
But for Seun that's always bringing these noise to that family....Fela is a legend!
In fairness, Seun has always been a family rebel too since he was a kid.
Whiz has done good for himself but Fela and Whiz cant be in a Setence!

PoliticsRe: 'You Can't Teach Me' Rufai, Lawyer Clash During Interview On Rivers Politics by Buccalcavity2: 5:26am On Jan 22
yongg:
You shouldn't give up too fast because the jewels of the whole adventure might just be around the corner for the taking (this is also note to self, lols). I appreciate your response but I see it differently and I will also like to assert I am not a fan per se, I only admire good work and understand that as humans there are times we are are spot on correct and when we perform badly, to blindly follow is what I actively seek to not do...

In your first reference, that question does not necessarily insinuate that but is to ensure or at least to give the lawyer the chance to ensure the audience/citizens that the integrity of the whole process is held (mind you, not even the integrity of persons, but beyond). Rufai at the point was asking to make sure the principle that avoids conflict of interest, double-jeopardy and recusal (when required) is held, which is part of the insurances of process integrity, personal integrity is a different issue entirely and probably even harder to examine from questioning for each subject maybe except the subject under scope have made blunders a couple of times known to the public domain. And do you know what's even better he (the lawyer guest) later ended up agreeing because it was clear as day he either pretended to not know that Rufai was referring to the integrity of the process of the panel (By the way, people, not just lawyers, may do this to dissuade or steer discourse away from what they want to hide... You should see them when in full cross-examination mode) or genuinely misunderstood the question.

So you see that Mr Abati himself didn't move on but rather defined (in part) the principle of conflict of interest to the lawyer guest hence implying checking whether adequate recusal (which should be total is most instances) had been applied to the process since he seemed not to understand or pretended (not enough data confirm or suspect so he enjoys benefit of that doubt) about what was being pointed to, after which the lawyer then understood and answered the question - NOW that was what made them move on. So Mr Abati basically broke down in simpler grammar Rufai's question which hit at least 3 of the intent which is super important to highlight that Rufai question captured, thereby implicitly backing Rufai in the quest to know.

About your second reference, are you saying an assertion cannot come from a reported speech? There are times when one wishes to translate an incident in words of parity or correspondence, which strips the mentions of persons or places or other unimportant details to leave the concentrated residue relevant to the discourse. A recent case where that could be applied is the petrol tanker accident that had people risking their lives to collect the spilling fuel, but that might veer us off but one thing I can assure you it brings clarity to the subjects, also the participants will likely provide answers that differ from their answers when they were actually exposed to the situation at the center of discourse all as a result of the clarity of viewing in that manner which highlights details important to the discourse, hence a teachable moment or a place to reflect the actual "why" that made the difference.

See, I understand you (meaning you will be somewhat reasonably correct when you see it like that, but your scope of correctness will be severely limited which is not what we want, well except maybe when you want to hide details by insisting on that depth which is grossly insufficient) but you need to reflect like at least one level beyond what you have stated, I say this because when you see it from just your level of examination, every other inquiry whether coming from a journalist or not, Rufai or not becomes a baited question and likely something to get offended by. Such questions can simultaneously check your boxes (or some of it) of dubious intention and my boxes (or some of it) of unbiased inquiry depending on where the observer choose to place his perspective. But that shouldn't halt asking of the question, else will we ever know anything (ha ha)?
😅🤣😂🤣😅.
Dude,goodluck! I don't want be like you!

How do you know he asked as facts, and I hope you know journalist asks beyond facts so the other party reveals a clarification where needed as well. How is my rationale watery, lols 😂. I don't know about the Ayo lying incident you referenced but I would like to see it though. How is asking questions seeking clarification a reduction of constitutional discourse?
Stop dulling down your own brain coz you want to be a fan of Rufai (whos probably not as sound as you)!
Move on if you are wrong like Abati did or if you are courageous, apologize that you are wrong!
1:39 this guy insinuated that assembly members lack integrity. Lawyer called him out, he said "im just asking question". 3:52, He asked "tell me the common sense in the need to pass supplementary...". That's an assertion not a reported speech as he later claimed which the lawyer called out.
If you still can't see the fault here, then I give up. You are no different!

So you obviously don't know the job of a journalist?

Because if this is what you think he is doing you would need a bit more research on world class frank journalism.

Gosh the amount of people saying ignorant things in this thread is alarming. Ad hominem attacks on a fine journalist and all. So because someone has studied animal science he/she will not have the brain to learn some other thing in life? Simple standard line of questioning to reveal accountability in your democratic administrative space that is beneficial to all is what you are fighting to stop, something you actually need (obviously, you don't know that you need it though)

The part I agree with you on though is the ending part that expresses your skepticism with the use of tracking and AI to farm controversy but that didn't seem to be the case here.
Just stfu with your watery rationalization. Rufai asked his question as a fact. Not a reported speech from his previous interviwee. The lawyer called him out as an outright misrepresentation as he should know better! The damage control and childish fight over who is right or wrong is just irritating. Thats how Adebayo called out Ayo for lying and its still thesame Rufai defending nonsense on live TV. I don't care who wins Rivers political battle but don't reduce constitutional discourse to beer parlor gist and defend lies with pride. That's shitty!

Mtchew. Watery brains.
Did he not lie about the supplementary budget statement, then turned it into "perspective" which the lawyer called out. Same he did during obaseki, where he said they have a judgement, his interviewee (Shaibu) asked him to read the document that its an application not judgement. Again he twisted it on live TV. Same for Reno omokri...., who called him out.
How does bias block your sense of judgement as a journalist. Shame!

As a user, that placement is to safe the stress of removing it and putting it back while not reading a text of reading a text. Most cases, this happens with dual lenses. The lower part is used for reading while the upper part is a non-reading distance looking lense. Again, some of the lenses are photochromic and you get clearer view of objects by removing the glasses altogether. Now you know why someone will remove his glass outside or on the street?
Not quite. Some do it coz they consider it (stress) fashionable. Just like some pay for massive boobs for fashion. Some do it out of ignorance, not knowing that they can have more than one prescription on their glasses (as in bifocals, progressives or multifocals) for just a little premium. They don't have to remove it to read. I personally cant tell the last time I saw someone lower thier glasses so they can see.
