PoliticsRe: Debt Servicing By Administration (first 2 Years) by Buccalcavity2: 11:41pm On Apr 30
mrvitalis:
Tinubu is paying Buhari loans, tinubu loans would start to come into effect on the next 2 years

Buhari didn't pay much because Jonathan didn't borrow much

This is the anchor of my principles

Borrow, give to your best Brian's in areas you have comparative advantage...

They employ more people = more payee tax
Their profit increase = more profit tax
They repay the loan = no increase in debt servicing to Revenue ratio
GDP grows economy grows

But APC borrow to build roads bridges and trains while these things are no bad borrowing to build them when your debt servicing is over 100% revenue is foolishness

This is what Obi has been singing... This is why is started backing Obi since 2019

Infrastructure built with borrowed funds would make you poorer
You guyz have been educated severally but you wont listen. Debt is not a problem when you have capacity to pay back and when you spend on important stuff. You conceded that APC spend on important stuff. Now show me the DSR of goverments over time. Thats the real story not absolute debt service figures.
Lagos has huge debt but way better DSR compared to several states.
PoliticsRe: A Teenager Gets Amputated For Disobeying Sharia Law In The North (graphic Video by Buccalcavity2: 6:52am On Apr 29
budaatum:
Telling me to "keep quiet" is telling me to shut up, and I respectfully decline to do either.

Second, I am not defending any Muslim or anyone. I am actually condemning what has been done here.

Third, there is already Sharia law in my Orolu Kingdom of Ifon Osun, but cutting off the hands of anyone for any reason has never been done there to my knowledge, and anyone who condones or cuts off anyone's hands like that for whatever reason would likely end up in jail if we Oroluans don't stone that person to death first! There are Sharia courts in UK too, I'm told, and no one is advocating the cutting of anyone's hands there neither. Because it may be codified as you claim, but most people have brains in their heads which they can use to uncodify such nonsense!

Fourth, there may indeed be some backward people advocating for that type of ignorant Sharia in my state, but I doubt they can impose the cutting of hands on anyone, not to talk of the Christians, and definitely not on those in my Kingdom who worship the Obatala we claim to have descended from. Thankfully, we are a democracy, so it's not like some few people can impose on us unless we refuse to participate in our democracy and vote against what we do not want and vote for what we do want, and I can assure you that even the Muslims in my own family and community would not vote for that rubbish, and the Christians definitely wouldn't, nor would just about anyone worth listening to, and no one is stupid enough even to campaign for our votes to do that.

As for your "Nobody, as learned as they are or otherwise, has written or protested against this within the Penal Code", I strongly believe that I should be the change I want to see instead of asking others to change for me, so instead of waiting for others to protest, I better start protesting myself, because my own opinion is that if I don't protest and wait for others to protest for me, it is like I am the one who cut that boys hands of myself. In which case, I should take my own self to the bottom of a river and bash my own stupid head in first before that of some god or anyone elses.

So I repeat, join me in protesting against this please by writing to those you think should oppose this. And more importantly, register to vote and vote for those who oppose this, because that is how we use our voice and democratic powers to make the changes we want to see in our society.

The below says "corrupt", but please read it as evil.
Fair enough. Advocacy/protest is good as stated earlier, esp from humanity angle. It is what you and i are doing, and should do.
Today, if "my" married muslim cousin from orolu is caught sleeping with a single guy in Kano, the punishment is death, so far 4 men can testify that they witnessed penetration. It doesnt matter if the law is domiciled in orolu or not. The question is not if she's actually killed too, but should the code exist? And who is effective to protest that if not my moderate muslim cousin because I'm waived as lacking "locus standi" to protest a law that "doesnt affect me" as a non-muslim. Thats why i wouldn't "speak for" my moderate cousin. I need to know her leanings. "She" is on this platform, for example, and very active but will not say pim coz "its a sensitive issue". U get my drift?
I also think it is beyond election. Its a structural/constitutional issue to the country.
I can assure you that the agf (a moderate muslim) saw this news and will not prosecute offenders to set precedence, at least before constitutional change.
Tunisia, Iran do not amputate... A number of islamic nations do. Should Nigeria do? Our current Sharia law permits it, although our constitution does not.
These, my friend, are the context of my hypocrisy.
I rest my case.
PoliticsRe: A Teenager Gets Amputated For Disobeying Sharia Law In The North (graphic Video by Buccalcavity2:
budaatum:
First, the Sharia court that does that stupidness to people is not "embraced by ALL muslims". Sharia courts and Muslims in my Osun State have never done that barbarity to anyone, and neither have Sharia courts in many states in Nigeria and Africa where Muslims live, so your "embraced by ALL muslims" is false.

Second, this is alleged to have been done in our Nigeria, so it is not only for Muslims to speak, but for all human beings who have a brain in their head to speak up against it.

The stupid Sharia court that did that to that boy is backward and ignorant and barbaric, and should be opposed and condemned by any rational thinking human being regardless of your religion to speak up against it, and telling me to shut up is asking me to condone it, and I am not that stupid to do as you command.

Now, please, write to every government official that you know to ask them if and why this barbarity is acceptable in our country Nigeria. And when election time comes please do not vote for any idiot who supports it. Because yours and my silence is like we cut that boys hands off ourselves!

If you fo not know who to write to, please start here.

Thank you in advance for your time and attention to this matter.
I never used the words shut up at you. And you you can check the difference btw keep quiet and shut up, if this conversation is still civil.
I appreciate your indignance and writing to govt. but i insist that you shouldnt defend muslims if "you are not one", just thesame way you carefully didnt defend the govt.!
My point is that the punishment you saw up there is codified in Sharia, Maliki jurisprudence, as practiced by all 12 states in Nigeria today. It is not a crime to them! Much as I hate this action like you, SLS, Sultan, ex CJN Tanko, Ishaq Oloyede.... All Nigerian muslim (that's my context) agree to Sharia as in our penal code. Whats my proof? Nobody, as learned as they are or otherwise, has written or protested against this within the Penal Code! And many individual in southern Nigeria are advocating for Sharia.
As for govt., an Ex-CJN declared this position as unconstitutional but governors still ratified these judgements without consequences. That's the context of my statement about hypocrisy amongst moderate (Nigerian) muslims and govt.
My comment isnt intended for hate or to trigger you or anybody. It is just the fact. We shouldnt act shocked when we see the fruit of something/law we subtly allowed.

Hear yourself say it is "open and evident extremism, hypocrisy, jihadism, wickedness and gross ignorance and violence", and yet practised by only a few.

Or would you want to try to convince me that the learned moderate unhypocratic kind knowledgeable Muslims, in say Yoruba land, would be this ignorant and stupid?

Yes, it is wicked and shameful and very extreme and ignorant, and is practised by a minority few Muslims. And brushing all Muslims with such ignorance is ignorant too.
The boy was not condemned based on feelings of a "few", "ignorant" muslims.
That boy was convicted by a Sharia court. A law/set of codes recognized by the state and embraced by ALL muslims!
So with due respect, keep quiet and let muslims speak.
This case study exposes the hypocrisy of "moderate muslims", who are my friends. And also hypocrisy of the Nigerian Government, which in one breath criminalizes this and in another permits it!

Ask those who are pushing this scam on Ogun people

When Yayi was representing Lagos area, did he tell them he's originally from Ogun state? The first scam

When Yayi ported to Ogun West in 2023 to contest the senatorial ticket, again is Yayi originally from Ogun West or Ogun Central

Yayi represented Lagos for over 2 decades but 70% of his acclaimed achievements are in Ogun state, abeg as how now. Was he elected to represent Ogun state or Lagos state

The same Yayi gave people money to buy the Ogun West ticket for him, but came on media to be shedding crocodile tears. Too much fakeness

To wrap up Yayi's scam, 60% of his acclaimed achievements are building of roads and schools..Hahaha , Is the primary duty of a Senator is to be building schools and roads.

The scam Yayi won't sell

Those who are pushing him should tell us his tangible and glaring achievements in wherever he represented for decades, not those fake ones they compiled the other time
Lol. Its all politics bro. Nothing illegal in your complaint. I get he isnt your fav but thats politics. Several precedents. Tinubu rep Ikeja 1992 but hes from Lagos island. Zik rep lagos then went to become Easstern premier. Faleke, Ikeja and almost became deputy gov in Kogi, Aregbe.....

SeizeTheMemes:
I just discussed this. Export increased particularly in oil. Actually, you know what? I take that back. You've been BS-ING me this whole conversation. Exports NEVER increased AT ALL. You've been arguing in bad faith for something that didn't even happen. I have NO words to describe this level of dishonesty. I have strong words i would like to use on an obtuse liar like yourself but ill restrain myself.

Petroleum products make up 85% of our exports. The non oil sectors make up an extremely small amount of our economy and most of them aren't manufactured goods making the exchange still unequal, a point you have not addressed.

The Surplus your talking about goes to NNPC and Dangote, the oil exporters. Apart from them who benefits from devaluation? Local manufacturers are having a hard time operating with the increase in prices thanks to devaluation. Our actual exports have stagnated for 10 years with the lowest point being in COVID pandemic. You are being completely dishonest about our exports increasing.

https://leadership.ng/nigeria-records-n1-71trn-trade-surplus-despite-decline-in-exports/

On the "opposition work" I am not a sectarian. Any government APC, PDP or whatever that doesn't industrialize or produce for it's people needed to be exposed for deception. If all your politics is A vs B then your one of the problems we have in this country because instead of looking at the data and how things are on the ground, you just call it opposition like your watching a football match. Keep playing games with the future of the country I'm sure the elite will thank you while they keep us all in destitution.
🤦Ok sir. Keep discussing. At least one day you'll be capable to research total trade export trend in last 3 yrs, oil and nonoil export trend on your own and stop vascillating...or commenting on what you'll go "look up", "you know what take it back". Good luck! God bless Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Maritime Revenue Jumps From ₦700 Billion To ₦1.83 Trillion In 2 Years - Oyetola by Buccalcavity2:
SeizeTheMemes:
So i looked into this and this was the first page i saw.

"Currency Factors: The devaluation of the naira against the dollar has caused the trade surplus to balloon, as export earnings in dollars translate into much higher nominal naira values."

It the exact same logic as this maritime traffic lie. The statistics say numbers go up but it ends up being deception all the time. Say we do export more oil and even petrol from the dangote refinery, we are still stuck as an oil rentier state for 60 years now.

On the positive trade surplus. Admittedly we did have a positive trade surplus before the devaluation although not as much as after it.

I will add that trade Surplus in of it's self isn't a good measurement of growth especially when we export primarily one commodity. colonial Nigeria had a good balance of trade with Britain because they exported as much as they import but the value of the trade is not equal despite the balance. Exporting oil and petrol for finished goods is not an equal exchange. It's why the gulf states don't have any real industry and import everything. And yes btw, we did have a good balance of trade in 1900-1944.

https://x.com/World_Data_A/status/2013552331887951935

My main point here is that these statistics are often used to deceive us into thinking all is well when it's all going downhill. The maritime trade and trade balance are not telling us the full picture. When statistics do not line up with reality, the statistics need to be called into question lest we will believe in BS.
Fortunately you are chatting with someone who knows a little about macro. Stat is not your problem. The problem is that you havent studied the stat or understood it, to critique it properly. Both volume and dollar (nominal) have increased, meaning we export more, hence "more productive". Specifically, non-oil export has gone up too as against your claim!
As you found, exchange rate helped. Some who wouldn't have exported their goods now do so coz of higher value. It is why we have individuals who prefer the current exchange rate regime to the old!
There are a number of areas we can criticize in maritime sector, not reduced trade. Opposition is work not rumor mongering. Let's put in the work to oppose what we "know" else you make opposition a joke and make APC shine more.
PoliticsRe: Maritime Revenue Jumps From ₦700 Billion To ₦1.83 Trillion In 2 Years - Oyetola by Buccalcavity2: 3:10pm On Apr 11
SeizeTheMemes:
This is how we get deceived by statistics. How is this even possible? Our exports have not increased so how? Unless it's because the idiot government devalued our currency and now it makes import duties make more. So in the end we are getting taxed even more. This is why statistics need to be studied properly. This is dubious behaviour.
If our exports have not increased, how come our balance of trade has been positive, both wrt volume and dollar value, for the past 2 years? CBN data! You guys should take this opposition work seriously.
BTW, I'm not yet impressed with the minister of maritime/blue economy, mainly because i havent seen serious private investment along the coastal line/ maritime.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Achieves New Oil Export Milestone With Launch Of Cawthorne Crude by Buccalcavity2: 6:56pm On Apr 08
nairalanda1:
Let's be honest, common man cannot feel impact of crude oil, because Nigeria is not producing, and has never produced the amount of crude that we need to give everybody a good life.

(Note that I did not say that there is no corruption or that government is good, and that tinubu na good leader, so don't go there).

Income from crude is not even enough to provide for one to three states. And yet, that's where 80% of our income comes from.

Even if Nigeria goes up to 10million bpd , it won't improve our life much

The thing that sane nations with saner climes have is a diversified industrial economy that works and a massive tax system that pays into the welfare system, among other things. Countries that rely only on oil, like Saudi and Bahrain and Qatar, can afford to do so because their populations are tiny, and they run the risk of becoming broke if oil prices crash.

Where all your governments have been failing is that they have not developed a diversified industrial exporting economy for Nigeria. Especially APC which promised that in 2015, and has not effing delivered, which is why tinubu is weak

Instead, everyone has been following Awo's lead. Sell raw materials and share money, which leads to a situation where the money would never be enough and where stealing happens at the highest level because the closer one is to where the sharing happens is wheere stealing happens.

And even if there is no stealing, oil revenue, before we start talking about allocating money, is not up to 150 billion dollars...and most of the time it is below 100 dollars. Nigeria needs something like at least 500 billion dollars revenue for budget issues and so forth.

But since governments no dey wan make us like serious nations, here we are.
Frankly, APC is the only govt that understands this concept. Dangote refinery adds value to raw materials, solved fx issues and increased export. Tinubu govt revived mining industry and understands the value of blue economy. BAT is the only one that implements the revenue revolution through the institutions and automation. Also positive balance of trade both in $ and volume context. Thats productivity!
Now it doesnt mean all problems are resolved. Far from it! But there is progress to scarify the Nigerian economy for productivity.
For me, there are only 2 areas that I'm waiting on the BAT govt. Power generation and restructuring. He met my expectation in other areas.
