They've left Canada.
I have written about this before. I cringe at how we tolerate corporate misdemeanor in Nigeria in the name of let FDI grow.
Can landmark build a structure into the beach which was not included in her Title in America or even SA? Can Binance evade arrest/jump bail in America or Canada (even if nobody is watching him)? Will MTN repatriate funds anyhow, even in SA, like they do in Nigeria?
The one that vexes me the most is when a company commits offense in Nigeria and then is fined in its home country for the offence committed in Nigeria? No be juju be that! Yet you see some citizens say don't touch them to allow FDI, all for mundane interests!
Please read about how SA dealt with KPMG wrt Gupta family deals. See as US dey handle Tiktok (same as how China handles YouTube). Yet people wan die because Buhari questioned Twitter.
Here big fours, IOCs just dey lounge... You can imagine some overseas coy dey fund banditry for mineral mining in North Central. Haba!

There is no hypocrisy here. If you are a tad considerate, you should know that lives are being lost on those dilapidated roads.

A sane govt ought to know what Nigerians are yearning for at the moment before embarking on a humongous project that won't finish under 20yrs.

And if I may ask, what special purpose is associated with the coastal highway the East West road can not offer?
The same the 2nd Niger bridge could offer that the 1st could not offer!
Projects aren't mutually exclusive. Stop selling that narrative. They run concurrently.
Rest. All I hear is emotion. Nothing pragmatic!

I really don't get it... The second Niger bridge was built because the old one has outlived it's usefulness. Still people were managing it on the fact that there was no alternative. The horrible state of that bridge considering when it built was the reason why another bridge had to be built.

Remember it is a bridge built across a River. Not a surface road on the land that is easier to rebuild or patch up.

So are you comparing a less than one kilometre bridge with a 700 kilometre road or what exactly?
Bro, No need explaining. I picked the elements of your argument to show you the hypocrisy that:
1. All roads don't have to be completed before new one starts.
2. Nigeria funded an expensive project when DSR was over 100%, why not now when her DSR is under 65%.
3. That an alternative road exist is not enough argument to stop new one, citing 2nd Niger bridge.
Anything short, we are being hypocritical.
Lastly, Dave Umahi took his time to explain that this is the cheapest road the govt is handling at the moment wrt cost per km for its size. Nobody has contested that! Yes it is 700km and overall cost is more. Nigeria doesn't have to complete it in 1 year, you know about project & finance scheduling. Common!
We need constructive opposition to APC, you guys just dey make them shine!

The second Niger bridge, how does it relate to this topic?
I simply picked on the elements of your argument (as an emergency lover of Nigeria).
All existing projects must be finished before this starts?
Nigeria doesn't have money for this?
There's an existing road?
They all stand logic on its head.
If you couldn't complain when that was constructed, how did you find your voice now? Is there more to this coastal road project?

The common sense crooner is now senseless.

We are saying that the existing roads leading from Cross River State to Lagos State and the numerous bad roads across the country should be fixed.
The coastal highway shouldn't be a problem for now.

People are dying on these bad roads yet the govt priority is a coastal highway that we all know wouldn't be completed in 20yrs to come.

How is that a bad idea if I may ask Ben?

In a bid to support criminality they start sounding like uneducated people.

If this coastal highway is not all about criminality, they should equally award instant repairs for all the bad roads in the country and release a whooping 1 trillion naira to start up immediate work on them.
But it was ok to build 2nd Niger bridge when there was an existing road? Why were all existing roads not fixed before 2nd Niger bridge? Ibadan to ilorin, Lagos to Ibadan (amongst many) were both started before the bridge and are not yet completed to date.
Yet it was constructed in a tenure when debt service ratio was over 100% @ a time!
Where was this argument then?
I honestly don't understand the hullabaloo about the coastal way. I'm indifferent coz nobody is arguing with data,; just emotions.

Does he own the beach? Did he pay for access to the beach? I don't get it! It's first illegal.
Second, there are several resorts that are bounded by a major road. Please travel. I just came back from a vacation in Bahamas. Where I boarded the ship in Florida has a resort which is bounded by a major road leading to their airspace museum, no biggie.
3rd, why is it that we only make noise when houses of the rich are destroyed? Just last few weeks, Ebonyi and Anambra destroyed houses, why no vitriol again the government then.
Lastly, have we thought about how many businesses will spring up around that coastal corridor too because of that project?
Maybe we should check the definition of a resort and not equate it to a beach side.

Settling of financial obligations by dipping into foreign reserve is what you're celebrating. Please who do us this? The reserve that serves and give confidence to investors to come and invest is what our government depleting and you're celebrating. God why this country I am in?

You are the one that is fixated on your conclusions.
I have stated historical perspective. The last Nigerian Eurobond issued (issued 2022 Dec) was fully subscribed. The specific risk element you are alluding to are country&repayment risk and I have told you to cite example of Nigeria defaulting. None!
Nigeria sufficiently displayed her capacity in 2024 to settle all due obligations (in local and foreign currencies). So what empirical evidence do you have to dissuade investors? None, except emotions!
The next Eurobond is in June'24 and we shall see. And with the inflow of institutional funds into capital market in recent times (please fact check with market volume, demonstrating confidence), my guess is that the Eurobond issuance is gonna be successful.
FDIs are long term funds that do not work like plug and play you described, anywhere in the world.
I'm not against your hesitation to invest (it's your right) but please have reasonable basis. Not pedestrian gists; which is why I desire quality opposition to the current government.

Be deceiving yourself thinking you're wiser. No patriotism in business, people calculate risk before entering a business, except you're not a business person.

You make me laugh bro.

But you are giving excuses to drive home your point. Have I made the wrong statistics or comparison?

The point remains that there is no basis for comparing the two states, seeing that Lagos had the better advantages in terms of evolution and finance. You think Lagos is termed the "most populous city" for nothing?

With the likes of Aregbesola and Fayemi, why have those states not fared like Lagos State? Why are Sokoto, Bauchi and Borno, still suffering large scale underdevelopment?

Abuja became the administrative capital in 1991. It was carefully planned and developed. Why has it become such a developed city in such a short time, looking more beautiful than Kano and Rivers State?

Simple: The Governors are lazy! That's the point. Explain how Osun has more revenue than Cross River, Katsina. Right before our eyes Ogun state left Ondo State in terms revenue potential. Nobody is expecting every state to be equal but all governors should be tasked to be productive. It's inexplicable that you govern a state for 8years and revenue drive remained relatively stagnant. You don't have any project to impact potential prosperity of the state. Common!
Politics / Re: VAT Revenue Rose From ₦‎347bn To ₦‎549bn Under Tinubu – FAAC Report by Buccalcavity2: 3:48pm On Apr 27

How would you ever compare the development of Lagos with that of Anambra state. I have lived in Lagos far longer than you and I know Lagos completely. I attended all my schools in different parts of Lagos, including Lagos Island. There has never been a time that the development of the two states became at par.

You must first ask in history about Lagos and its development. Again in history, the evolution of Lagos as a state and how far it has gone. Lagos must be compared the Johannesburg and then you can ask if it has been properly developed when compared which such big cities.

Why not compare Anambra state with Bauchi, Borno, Ondo, Plateau and Oyo states? These states were created in 1976. Rivers state was created in 1967, yet Anambra state is far ahead in terms of development, even with the lesser IGR.

Lagos was created as a state in 1967. Before then, it had been well developed with good infrastructures like roads, electricity, railway, etc. Lagos was the seat of political power, such that aside from that it was the seat of national commerce. Anambra became a state in 1976, with the capital in Awka and a far less budget than that of Lagos. Development was hampered by the same military leaders then who thought it proper to embezzle the state’s resources. Awka as a capital was a glorified village until the coming of Obi.

Lagos as of the 1950s had very solid transport network, with the likes of Marcopolo buses running side by side with LMTS (Lagos municipal transport company).

Tinubu was handed a thriving state by Buba Marwa. All he needed to do was to improve on what he met. There are too many images of Lagos before Tinubu and after Tinubu. Lekki area was already developing after Raji Rasaki destroyed Maroko and attached it as Victoria Island annex.

Have you asked for images of Awka before and after Obi?

APC started the talk of true federalism. With the vast sums of gas in Anambra and Imo state, if allowed to thrive by thieving politicians, Anambra state would be better positioned.

If you take your time to remove your bias, then you can see all the achievements of Obi within the given space of time. By the way Anambra state does not start and end in Awka. It’s just like saying Lagos state starts and ends in Ikeja, the capital.

Guys stop making excuses for failure! If it was by state creation period. Osun will be happy to always under perform Katsina in IGR! Lagos growth is measurable and there are other miracles around us (maybe not profound enough to excite some of us but still progress)
I lived in Lagos during BAT and Anambra during PO.
difference is clear!
6m turning to 14b monthly is not from wishful thinking nor from predecessor. Ogun,Kaduna... did same right before us.
But for Soludo, what will you call Anambra development plan when our brother left? Which Awka became beautified during PO? What project was giving citizens hope to increase economic fortune of the state (GDP or IGR) when PO was there. Like LCC Lekki road in Lagos, Eko Atlantic city, free trade zone...

Keep projecting...

I didn't at any point say Nigerian don't have high tax brackets, increase in vat is not relative to increase in price, that's what I said. You don't increase tax because of inflation or increase in price of goods and service. Common economics u dey speak plenty grammar.
Nobody increased tax! Read the article again.
VAT rose under Tinubu. A trend that was observed!
Not Tinubu increased VAT!
How can you say VAT is not related to price increase after reading that article

Politics / Re: VAT Revenue Rose From ₦‎347bn To ₦‎549bn Under Tinubu – FAAC Report by Buccalcavity2: 10:18am On Apr 27
Daystar7:

A day old kid knows there's tax on virtually everything here in Nigeria and you're running from pillar to post now. You based your tax whatever on goods purchased and not on the power of the person purchasing said goods. I've given you UK and Dubai as example to help ur understanding but you still fail to comprehend simple explanation.
You don't increase vat based on increase in the price of goods. Increase in the price of goods is dependent on the law of supply and demand and is not relative to tax. When there's low supply, there 'll be high demand which in turn inflates the price of goods but this doesn't mean automatic increase in vat.
Take Garri for example, garri is now more expensive than it should ever be, what sense is there to increase tax on garri when there's already increase in price of transportation and logistics of the garri and the purchasers have low purchasing power? Increasing tax will only make sense when you increase their salary, that's how it works. Imported goods are cleared by paying import duties, this duties are added to the cost of goods by the importers and then distributed and like that it's covered in bits by the consumers. So each time you purchase anything you pay tax. Now increasing tax automatically cos there's an increase in price is not relative. Tax is relative to purchasing power and where goods are subsidized. The UK, US, Canada subsidize a lot for their citizens and get it back by taxing them. Now this tax is higher for those in the higher class than lower class.
I shudder at how you write a lot of nonsense confidently! You're clueless yet you are the most active!
So high income earners don't pay higher taxes in Nigeria (but only in UK US...)? VAT is not related to price of goods?what is VAT then? So what is inflation? Was tax rate (either VAT or other ones) increased in Nigeria? So US, UK, Canada that recently experienced high inflation slashed their VAT equivalent because
there's inflation?
Your comrades also writing balderdash! Like supporters, like candidate! Empty!

1. Train your children to be close to you. Show them some of your vulnerabilities and they will be comfortable to share Thiers.
2. Train them to have a voice even when they are wrong. So invite them to argue (give their perspective) before they are punished for offences.with this, they can gestimate apt punishment for their offenses.
3. Teach them confidence. Let them know everybody reports to someone or something.
With these, they will overcome bullies.
