PoliticsRe: Niger Delta: What Is The Problem? by buchio7(m): 10:58am On Jul 16, 2006
my broda have u gone to d niger-delta region b4? i am ibo so dont tink im justifying anything but i have had d opportunity to travel extensively round d niger-delta courtesy of my job and wat i saw was heart rendin . d level of degradation and abuse is unprecedented. In a place called nembe which is accessible via water(4 hrs by speed boat from p.h.;3hrs from yenaGOA via same) d main source of water is from d creek where d boats come from,i saw children peeing and defeacating into d same creek dat a woman was taking water from to ash her pot or is it electricity? dere was no single light dere except i pass my neighbour gensets but just barely 3km away shell is drilling oil and dere flowstation is awash with activity of light, water e, t.c come on, !!!!! dese ppl r human beins and have every right to demand dat wat comes from dere land be used to develope dere land irrespective of whos ox is gored.
in as much as d tactics used by mend is rash and illogical but d tactics dat has been employed over d years by multinationals like shell and d federal govt has not left much to be desired.it is a problem my dad predicted as far back as 1984 when he happened to pass through rivers state(now bayelsa state) and d whole country is feeling d result of years of neglect.
I advise anyone who has not been to areas like nembe, oporoma, sangana, oluasiri to maybe try and go dere,it will make u appreciate d level of neglect dere.
PoliticsRe: Four Nigerians That Can Lead Nigeria Better Than Obasanjo by buchio7(m): 10:15am On Jul 16, 2006
being an activist or critic of the government does not mean that the person has the qualifications to lead a nigeria even though they have impeccable integrity. examples abound to that effect e.g being that an alex ekwueme that one person proposes is not as "angelic " as u may believe becos he has run down a lot of companys due to his over bearing style of management in d south east(e.g.diamond breweries, pal breweries, brollo onitsha ) and has in effect cost a lot of families sleepless nights thinking of where to earn there keep.
having said dat i believe that d person that reall typifies wat nigeria needs is not known by anyone but God.it may be u reading dis text or me but disabuse ur mind dat some of d names being bandied can be good political leaders. They are definitely not

Though i share old glorys assessment of adenuga,i dare say he has done a lot in alleviating the joblessness of the nigerian unemployed.I was employed in glo for a while and was laid off without a reason on one bright thursday so believe me i am not trying to paint him golden but the fact remains that as of the last count adenuga is employing close to 4,500-5000 people encompassing(glo,e.t.b,conoil) which is admirable if you have gone down the streets of lagos on a weekday to see the number of unemployed praying for a breakthrough or have gone to a job aptitude test where there are only 20 openings advertised but see 3,000 people hoping , hoping!!! he is a crook believe me i know and have had the opportunity to sit around and see him function but there are families who have had it bad who are now trying to smile courtesy of his investments in nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Pat Utomi For President In 2007? by buchio7(m): 9:38am On Jul 16, 2006
we should understand that being a p.hd holder at a tender age, accomplished technocrat blah, blah, blah!!!!is a different ball game from running a country like nigeria, which is highly fragmentised, deeply governed by a click of corruption prone individuals. He is a good man with a good ideal but whether he will make it to aso rock is highly unlikely if we are to be realistic because of the factors earlier mentioned.I also believe that he shd continue to make a difference via his fora
