overboard: A pianist is usually a trained performer and has put in a lot to understand music theories and can easily read music score sheets. A keyboardist on the other hand is a performer that can indeed play the piano but may not be so trained. He or she could even have learnt by ear but some keyboardist do have the skill of reading music sheets as well as they may have invested time in music theory. You are more likely to see a pianist play at proper musical set up like an orchestra and so on and more likely to see a keyboardist running his skill at a concert with a band... My two kobo.
