If they are serious they should pass a bill to include e-transmission of results in REAL TIME!
Gringory Obi will definitely lose, conduct a general election 10 times with himself, Atiku, & President Tinubu, Obi will come 3rd 10 times.

PoliticsRe: Why Tinubu Sacrificed Fubara For Wike By Soibi Versatile by Burob: 5:33pm On Jun 11
Dailymemoirs4:
Why Tinubu Sat Fubara for Wike

By Soibi Versatile

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s handling of the Rivers State crisis showed one clear reality: when forced to choose between Nyesom Wike and Siminalayi Fubara, he picked Wike. The choice was not accidental. It was political calculation rooted in structure, loyalty, and broken agreements.

Fubara thought that by defecting to the APC he could outmaneuver his political godfather. The plan was simple: join the ruling party, secure presidential cover, and then renege on his political agreement to serve only one term. He believed that once he wore the same party badge as Tinubu and Wike, he could rewrite the terms of his emergence. He miscalculated.

Tinubu understands political structure. Wike delivered Rivers State for the APC in the 2023 presidential election despite being a PDP member. He deployed his grassroots network, controlled the state’s electoral machinery, and handed Tinubu 25 percent in a PDP stronghold. That is the kind of political capital that wins elections. Fubara brought no structure. He was a product of Wike’s structure. Without Wike, Fubara had no pathway to Government House in 2023 and has no pathway to retain it in 2027.

The emergency rule deal was explicit. To restore calm after months of chaos, Fubara agreed to certain things of which he would not seek re-election, he would not defect to the APC without Wike’s approval, and he would pay Assembly members their withheld entitlements. Tinubu brokered that peace. Fubara nodded to it. Then he tried to violate it. His secret talks with Hope Uzodinma to defect to the APC were a direct breach of the agreement. For Tinubu, that move signaled untrustworthiness. A governor who reneges on a presidential-brokered truce cannot be trusted to keep faith with larger national compromises.

Wike, for all his brashness, has been consistent. He fought for Tinubu when it was politically risky. He delivered his state. He accepted a ministerial slot becoming the controller of the Federal Capital Territory and became the administration’s enforcer in the South-South. In the Rivers conflict, he kept to the public terms of the peace deal while Fubara looked for loopholes. Tinubu saw who was keeping his word and who was scheming.

Defecting to the APC without Wike’s blessing was Fubara’s fatal error. He assumed the party platform was enough to neutralize his godfather. But in Nigerian politics, platforms do not win states. Structures do. Wike controls the Rivers APC and PDP structures simultaneously. He controls the Assembly. He controls the grassroots mobilizers who are the Local Government Chairmen and Fubara controls the seal of the governor’s office and nothing else. Tinubu will not trade a general who commands troops for a lieutenant with a title. That will be political naivety.

The one-term agreement mattered because Rivers politics is about rotation and balance. Wike installed Fubara to hold the seat, not to build a dynasty. The understanding was that power would return to Wike’s camp after four years. By plotting to extend his tenure, Fubara threatened that balance and invited instability. Tinubu chose stability. By siding with Fubara it would mean endorsing betrayal and rewarding a breach of agreement. That sets a dangerous precedent for other godfather-governor relationships across the country with he being a godfather himself.

Tinubu sidelined Fubara because Fubara tried to be too smart. He wanted Wike’s structure, Tinubu’s protection, and a second term he was not promised. You cannot eat your cake and still have it. In picking Wike, Tinubu chose the man who keeps agreements over the man who breaks them, the structure over the figurehead, and political reality over wishful defection. Fubara lost because he forgot who made him governor in the first place.

It is in The 48 Laws of Power, never try & outshine the boss.
