Police in Baku today stopped Arsenal fans wearing Henrikh Mkhitaryan jerseys ahead of the UEFA Europa League final, MySportDab reports.

Due to the ongoing political tensions between his native country Armenia and Azerbaijan, Mhkitaryan decided to stay in London and not travel to Baku.

The Arsenal Fans walking down the street in Baku, were stopped by a police officer who then spoke into his walkie-talkie.

He then allowed them on the way, with the fans looking bemused by the incident.

It is the second time Arsenal have played in Azerbaijan this season after their group-stage clash against FK Qarabag.

Mkhitaryan was also absent for that fixture, and would have been certain to at least feature on Unai Emery's bench for the match against Chelsea.

Channel Islands Air Search chief officer John Fitzgerald has said there is "no hope" of finding missing Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala and a pilot alive.

The striker and his pilot were in the plane that vanished on Monday night on his way to Cardiff.

Sala was heading to the Welsh capital aftersigning for the Bluebirds from French club Nantes in a £15m deal.

The single-engine plane left Nantes, north-west France, at 19:15 on Monday and had been flying at 5,000ft (1,500m) over the Channel Islands when it contacted Jersey air traffic control requesting descent.

It lost contact while at 2,300ft (700m) and disappeared off radar near the Casquets lighthouse, infamous among mariners as the site of many shipwrecks, eight miles (13km) north-west of Alderney.

Police said the search to find the Argentine striker, 28, and Mr Ibbotson, from Crowle, Lincolnshire, was ongoing.

The pilot of the Piper Malibu aircraft has been named a Dave Ibbotson, a 60-year-old British father of three.

Sala reportedly sent a WhatsApp voice message to family.

Sounding conversational and jokey, he said he was "so scared".

MySportDab report Channel Islands Air Search chief officer Mr Fitzgerald said: "Sadly, I really don't think, personally, there is any hope.

"At this time of year the conditions out there are pretty horrendous if you are actually in the water."

David Beckham has bought a stake in Salford City FC – joining the Class of 92 former team-mates as joint owners of the club.

The former Manchester United player has bought a 10 per cent stake in the National League club.

It means Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Gary and Phil Neville now have a 60 per cent stake in the club, with Singapore businessman Peter Lim holding the majority share of 40 per cent.

MySportDab report 43-year-old Beckham, is also behind the Major League Soccer franchise Inter Miami CF in the US.

“It's a proud moment for me to join Peter Lim and the Class of 92 lads as an owner of Salford City FC,” said Beckham.

“It's a really special club and a special group of people. My early years in Manchester were all spent in Salford.

“I grew up there in many ways, so tobe able to finally join the club and the lads today is a great feeling.

“Salford City has achieved so much success in a short space of time, the fans are incredible and I'm really excited to be spending more time in Salford again.”

Striker Gonzalo Higuain is finally on his way to England to complete his loan move to Chelsea.

The Argentine played with first half of the season at AC Milan but will now move to the Premier League on loan with an option to buy.

Chelsea are in desperate need for attacking reinforcements.

According to AS, Higuain boarded a private flight at Milan's Linate Airport at 7am UK time, bound for Farnborough.

MySportDab report If Higuain has been registered by 12 o'clock on Wednesday, he will be eligible to face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Thursday night.

Serena Williams missed four match points before losing to Czech seventh seed Karolina Pliskova in a dramatic Australian Open quarter-final.

The 37-year-old led 5-1 in the final set but lost the last six games as her bid for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam singles title ended with a 6-4 4-6 7-5 defeat in Melbourne.

Nantes Fans have come together in the city centre to pay tribute to Emiliano Sala on Tuesday, after a light aircraft he was travelling in disappeared over the English Channel.

The Argentine signed for Premier League strugglers Cardiff Cityon Saturday from the French club for a reported fee of 17 million euros ($19.3 million) and was flying to the Welsh capital when his plan disappeared.
