exactly! so its not a hardware thing, its the OS crippled in terms of multitasking. every architecture from x86, x64, ARM, PowerPC and instructions sets like RISC and CISC support multitasking. iphone and iphone 3G run on 620MHz (crippled to like 400mhz ) ARM1176JZF chip with TrustZone. it has SIMD, high perf integer CPU with 8-stage pipeline, 675 Dhrystone, 2.1 MIPS (2.1!). the 3GS runs a ARM Cortex-A8 833mhz throttled to 600mhz or so. the ipad runs a faster ARM cortex too coupled with a PowerVR SGX 535 GPU. all are 32bit RISC-based cpus. therefore all three idevices are more than capable of multitasking. this leads back to the question: why wasnt the iphone multitasking from day one?

the answer is: memory consideration. both iphone and the iphone 3g are limited by 128mb of RAM and a lame 400mhz clock speed. core animation would have suffered if Apple had implemented full-on multitasking from the onset. this means the transitions would stutter same as happens on android when you have too many running apps.

BUT. . .apple's first party apps (ipod,mail,etc) have always supported multitasking right from the beginning. the problem had always been apple not allowing third part apps to run in the background because of that precious 128mb RAM. wehn 2.0 came out, AppStore fell among the allowed first party apps to background.

this clarfies your statement. i never said cpu hardware limitations prevented multitasking. it was a concious OS design choice on the part of apple.

now back to backgrounder. go to subversion and check the code trunk, particularly the header file "overridesController.h". when you close an app backgrounder runs an override that persists the app in ram while alerting the OS the memory space occupied by the app is now free. false pretense! problems arise when the OS seeks to allocate the space to another request. then crashes abound. surely that isnt how multitasking is supposed to be?

Wrong!! apple never hype their products. blogs and fanboys do. they never previewed the ipod, iphone, ipad, iwhatev; not one leak, photo, press statement, or laundry list of features. all you seee and hear prior to official unveiling is rumors, renders, fan art, wishlists, supposed leaks, scoops etc. except for the next gen iphone (if gizmodo is to be believed) no one ever glimpse an unveiled apple product before launch. unlike microsoft et al. first, they previewed the courier and then killed it, HP previewed the Slate and supposedly killed it. all marketing and hype for apple products are done on their behalf by us in forums such as these, and in blogdom.

bros, ive been with Apple since Mac os 9, just yesterday i gave out an old Powerbook G4 15" (the DVI model) still hanging on to Panther! In Mac OS X closing an app requires going to the app menu in finder and selecting "quit".

What I meant was that I don't think Iron will hit the amount dark knight did on it's opening.

Thing is; one of the factors that would work against iron2 is that it isn't available in 3D. This is what ensured the outstanding box office performance of avatar and also Alice. It is highly anticipated but I doubt if it will reach the opening score of dark knight.

Meanwhile I hear we should not leave the cinemas till the end of the credits. I suspect something like what happened in Hulk will await anyone patient enough to stay till the end of it all.

Zain does work with iPhones. In fact they actually have an APN re-directing property on their network where all you do is to insert your SIM, and launch the browser and you will be directed through the internet APN. It is quite new so it gets bumpy.

In any case, input (through cellular Data Network) the following

APN : internet.ng.zain.com
username: internet (or leave it blank)
Password: internet (or leave it blank also)

That's it!!

If you are browsing with the USB modem it is strictly for pc. If you are using a bb then the 1G you have is for your bb device but you can also use it on ur pc when u use ur bb as a modem.
