So if 49 is a solution then the counting method used to find that solution is a good enough method for that solution. Get it?
if the answer was meant to be a decimal, the counting method would fail.

That is exactly why the ITERATION method was introduced as. Avalid mathematical method for "Counting". The only difference is that it counts by itself until it gets to the actual answer and it stops.

The iteration method is not just any "creative" solution either, it was developed using the Fibonacci sequence.

Now, here is what would work ;

Go on your calculator and type :
0+1=
Ans

Now, type :

(15*Ans) - √(Ans(Ans+15)) =

Now keep pressing the "=" key until the answer stops changing.

It will stay as 49.

That is iteration. Again that doesn't tell you if there are other solutions.

So to find all other solutions, you need to find out the first derivative, equate to zero, fond its roots, and the iteration process in another direction Way from the first.

Hellooooooooo!!!!

30 minutes left o.

Atleast just tell us what x is.

Then let your proof come in later.

0 ÷ 0 = x,
Find x

Prize : #15k

For #15K, I need someone to mathematically find x if

0 ÷ 0 = x

Using mathematical methods pls.

Bruh! You are too emotional. The only Gaybriel here is you! Stalking me up and down. You succeeded in taking a fun, inquisitive thread and turned it into a long boring lecture on mathematical proofs. Let me ask you a very simple question: Is 49 a solution to your equation? Yes or No.
yes it is.

What is the other solution?

YungMill I disagree slightly with you. It is clear that Akin is more creatively minded than cacawa but I think you shouldn't belittle cacawa's intelligence. My only problem with him is that he thinks intelligence is about solving complicated equations. If he can losen up a little bit, I think he might be able to give Akin a run for his money - although I seriously doubt it. Akin always has something underneath his sleeves.

Okay i get it.

You guys want me to be creative but I'm being rigid.

First, maths is not an ART, it's a SCIENCE.
Unless you re talking quantitative aptitude (I keep trying to make a distinction between both)

If you know how many years I have been in the game, well, let's just say, wait until you have a PhD, then you can begin to understand why 'creativity" must also be very robust and guided.

When one prof comes and punctures your steps, you'd be left gasping for breath.

As for the other guy being too clever, well... Remember I asked for us to do a competition.

Fine, he should try me. Drop a question I cannot solve, and after 30 minutes, he must post the solution. Mind you, I'm not into riddles or quantitative reasoning (unlike the OP).

Challenge me with high level mathematical proofs please.

grin grin grin I don't need to I know what it means. You are just trying to save face with big grammar. You are too formal. Too rigid. You have an incurious mind. You are boring grin grin grin
if you are looking for fun, get a girlfriend..I'm not GAYbriel.

Also, it's not grammar, it's a mathematical term for the validity of a mathematical method.

That test is performed on all so-called mathematical steps (or methods) to scream out "wuru wuru to the answer" kind of solution.

I'm sure you heard about one Nigerian Dr who solved an age long mathematical hypothesis..He was able to prove it.

His method was subjected to many mathematical tests for validity and so on.

Do you think your method would even be acceptable?? Well maybe to your NL pack of followers...But not to higher minds.

My guy Akin's counting method is original and very clever. I didn't even think of it and am quite good with math. Want thing you learn in science/math is to always search for the easiest solution first and if that fails then elevate the game. Your problem does not require "taking squares or any 3D (whatever) methodology. Akin just prove that he can solve your problem without even using a pen or paper not talk of computer. All you have is grammar they guy is more clever than you. No offense. Just observation.
lol see you praising yourself... It's called egoistic masturbation.

Carryon

Now so tell me the other solutions to the questions as there are more than one answers.

Hmmm....no knowledge is a waste.

If you know how he got the answer kindly tell me it might be useful in the future. I can easily input 49 and get the answer but I want he logic/explanation behind it
well, if you insist ooo
He was only doing trial and error.

So if a= √x
And b = √(x+15)
Then we want a+b =15

So the trial and error method he did was to say let a and b = 1 and 14 , 2 and 13, 3 and 12.......7 and 8

Then for each of those guesses (which of course will not be listable if the question had say, 99 instead of 15) he said;

If x = a squared
So let's see if b = √ (x + 15) ( using that same x we just got) will give us the number we want b to be. (As earlier listed out)

So he looked at all those whole numbers..Lol...Before arriving at x = 7 squared = 49
And b = √(49 + 15) = 8 which is the same as what we paired up.

Now do you get it?

Disclaimer...This method (as mathematicians will say) does not provide all possible solutions for x and hence, fails the "reductio ad absurdum" test.

Cowcawa is just running his mouth with big useless grammar. You can only count INTEGERS. Hence, smart counting will give you an integer solution. If you fail to get an integer solution from counting then you try taking the squares of both sides. Do you wanna count decimal? Go buy sense brah!
okay yes you can count decimal.

For example, without using calculator or table, find the square root of 45 correct to 3 d.p

Farabale jare. You are not thinking clearly. Counting WILL give you the INTEGER solution IF one exists. Otherwise, you use a more formal method. I have worked with systems with infinitely many solutions so don't patronize me. COUNTING means INTEGER...COUNT. GET IT?
yes but like i said earlier... while you are still solving maths by "counting" (hahha ha hhahaha), your counterparts abroad (or your seniors abroad - if we are talking about me) are using the considering real numbers, complex numbers and in case you have not heard of the latest one, 3D numbers, to solve problems.

So let's try to step up the game..Okay?

I was going to give you some 3D angle trig questions...But it's okay you can go and play bball. Lol

Okay. CACAWA before I go let me educate you. This is how you solve that problem without taking SQUARES:

You count.

Reduce the problem to a + b = 15. Then count.

1 + 14 is disqualified do you know why?
2 +13 also disqualified do you know why?
3 + 12 also disqualified do you know why?
4 + 11 also disqualified do you know why?
5 + 10 also disqualified do you know why?
go down the list and you will see only 8 and 7 qualifies therefore x = a^2 = 7^2 = 49 OR use b to get the same result.

Cacawa you are a formally trained mathematician but you are not creative. Find out why this method works and get back at me later. I have things to do. BY THE WAY IT TOOK ME LESS THAN A MINUTE USING THE COUNTING METHOD. TRY IT.

You disappointed me walahi

So this is maths....Hahhahaha....Aye mi temi bami...

You will end up in McDonald's!!!! Ahhhh.

Okay, sit down my dear, let me tell you the mistakes you make.

Maths is logic, it's not trial and error, in maths we ensure all stones are uncovered.

What if the problem has more than one solution??

What you do not understand is that quantitative reasoning is NOT maths. This isn't how we engineers build robust systems.

If maths were done this way, planes and rockets will crashland like butterflies.

You need to make sure all possible domains and ranges are considered.

Now, what if I told you that this question has more than one answer?

49 is just one of them.

There you have it, but I understand you may not have a science background so you may not realise what I mean. Perhaps in commerce, numbers have to always be simple integers.

Lol @ICAN maths sha.

Lol...You are so funny.

I expected you to atleast tell me what steps you could take to normalize the problem, particularly by geometrical representation, but alas! We can all see.

post a solution that DOES NOT involve taking squares of but sides. Shikena.

Lol, Matlab at last isn't it.

Of course another solution that doesn't involve squaring both sides is the use of ITERATION.

NOW, here is your assignment, post a solution that does not involve numerical, graphical or algebraic analysis. Not also involving the use of geometrical representation.

Guy, NL math guys respect cleverness (both in problem and solution). Your problem does not display this trait. Any1 can type this on Matlab and obtain the solution by brute force. It is not obvious that your problem has a clever solution angle.
lol....Matlab you say.

That's why i expected you to drop the answer i. 3 minutes.

I judged wrong.

Well you now have spent 3 hours or so on it..What happened to your Matlab?

Lol. You better sit down and learn.

X = 49

Take √(x) from both sides.

Square both sides

Collect like terms,

That linearises the problem.

Solve for x.

Q.E.D

Now, next question.

Y = arcsin(x+x^2) + arccos(xy)

Find dy/dx

Some of us have finished courses and degrees in real analysis, abstract analysis, numerical analysis, applied maths and why have you.
