Africa's leading songstress, Yemi Alade recently stormed Abuja to promote her debut jewelry collection with Bland 2 Glam christened The Yemi Alade Collection #YAC.

I just got a message from an eyewitness about an ongoing fire incident at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. A female hostel, Okeke Hall is said to be on fire. As at the last update, the building has been burnt up to the second floor as multiple explosions possibly by gas cylinders have escalated the situation.

I grew up watching the 9:00pm news on NTA every other night as it was a sort of ritual for my Dad. Unless you were no longer interested in watching television, the only programme you could watch in my house by 9:00pm was the Nigerian Television Authority network news.

As a national television station, NTA had many newscasters but only few stood out for me. Eugenia Abu and Cyril Stober are the only ones I can still remember from that era.

Nigeria is a country with great potentials, there's no doubt about it. People always debate about factors that prevent Nigeria from standing as a very great nation, but there is one thing I've never heard them mention, and that is the fact that most “Parents don’t give their children the freedom to choose a career path.”

Note that I use “Nigeria” because it is my country of residence and origin, not that this does not apply to other countries.
Parents find it so difficult to grant their children the freedom to choose their career path themselves, and it is EVIL. We are forced to follow what they've designed to be the "norm" around here. It is for this reason that many people abandon their dreams; they leave it behind and start doing what other people are doing. And when everyone is doing the same thing, at best we get innovation, and at worst, we get another person who failed at trying to be someone else.

Thanks to the defunct Mo'hits crew, the culture of using hype-men in the Nigerian music scene became more prominent. The then partnership between Don Jazzy and D'banj saw the emergence of many firsts in Naija's music industry of which the use of a hypeman was one.

It was a common sight to see a huge guy come on stage, bounce from one end to another, evoke screams and chants from the audience and generally warm up the crowd before the Kokomaster and other members of the Mo'hits crew make their grand entrance onto the stage.
