Politics › Re: Israel Has 8 Sharia Courts That Are Supported By Their Constitution by Cajal(m): 11:26am On Dec 25, 2024 |
RevDesm0ndJuju: This message is directed to the imbeciles in IPOB that have taken up the Oyo Sharia issue as their new ranting cause.
The Israeli Ministry of Religious Affairs established shari‘a courts in Nazareth and Acre as early as August 1948. Another two courts were opened in Jaffa and Tayyibe in 1950, and a shari‘a court of appeal, located in West Jerusalem, was established on January 1, 1953. During the first years of their existence under Israeli rule, the operation of shari‘a courts was not regulated by Israeli law. The courts employed the OLFR and the Ottoman Law of Procedure for Shari‘a Courts of 1917, as adopted and amended by the Mandate regime, and the qadis were simply appointed by the bureaucrats of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
In December 1953, the Knesset passed the Shari‘a Courts Law (Validation of Appointments), 5714–1953. The law granted post-factum recognition to all rulings issued by the shari‘a courts in Israel since their establishment. It also confirmed previous appointments of qadis, and charged the Minister of Religious Affairs with the implementation of the law.3 And yet, while the Shari‘a Courts Law (Validation of Appointments) regulated the operation of existing shari‘a courts, and legalized the rulings of the officiating qadis, it did not outline a procedure for making new appointments. A comprehensive qadis law that regulates all matters relating to the appointment of new qadis, was only legislated in 1961.4 The Qadis Law defined a qadi as a judge in a shari‘a court or in a shari‘a court of appeal (Article 1), and stated who is eligible to be appointed as a qadi: a Muslim, who has “suitable training in shari‘a law;” whose way of life and character befit the status of a qadi; and who is at least thirty years of age, and is married or has been married (Article 2).
Since 2001, however, state supervision over shari‘a courts has somewhat increased. In September 2000, the Israeli government, headed by Prime Minister Ehud Barak, decided to annul the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and to disperse its responsibilities among other government ministries. This decision was never fully implemented, and was later canceled all together, but it affected the shari‘a courts nevertheless: in January 2001, the shari‘a court system was transferred, together with the Druze court system, to the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice.
Everyone has heard of the travesty that is the rabbinical court system, but few people realize that there is also a publicly-funded Sharia court system: some 19% of the population of Israel is Muslim, and naturally they are not expected to have rabbis marry and divorce them. There are eight Sharia courts in Israel: in Jerusalem, Jaffa, Haifa, Be’er Sheva, Nazareth, Acre, Taybeh, and Baka Al Garabiya.
One of the reasons given for religious courts operating parallel to civil courts in Israel is the much hushed up anti-miscrgenous laws that are embedded in the Israeli constitution. The anti miscegenation law not only bans interfaith marriage but also goes further in banning interracial marriages so much so that most inter faith or inter racial marriages have to be conducted outside of Israel . Cyprus and Malta are the preferred destinations for interfaith/interracial couples to tie the knot but this does not confer recognition by the Israeli State when they return back as couples.
It's Aso important that I inform you imbes that the Israeli constitution recognises only 2 religions - Judaism and Islam. Christianity is considered by both Israeli law and Jewish religion as Paganism.
A Jew can still remain a Jew if he converts to Islam or becomes atheistic . But once a Jew converts to Christianity he or she is no longer a Jew and is ostracized. This is why you have a tonne of Jews masquerading as muslims in Al Qaeda and ISIS with Abu Bakr (ISIS caliph) and Al Joulani of Syria's HTS being prime examples of Jews leading Islamist terrorist groups waging war on Christians.
Also, being that Israeli law only recognises 2 religions as aforementioned and listed, religious discrimination laws do not apply to any one not of Jewish or Islamic faith. This is why Jews have impunity in spitting on Christians and vandalizing churches in Israel. The Israeli authorities never act on such attacks by Jewish zealots . Anti Christian speech and processions are perfectly normal in Israel for this reason so it is normal to turn on your TV set in Israel and see children programs castigating our Lord . The multiplier operator "X" and the addition symbol "+" are banned in Israeli school books because it looks like the cross.
So for you imbe Zionists who have decided to latch on the ongoing Sharia debacle in Oyo -a state that is marginally muslim dominated, note that in your precious so called "holy land" , Sharia law is backed , financed and supported by the Israeli government
Merry Christmas 🎄 and remember that Christ is King . Don't mind them What they fail to understand is that shari'a means justice Yoruba people will say ....ese sharia ooo E da shari'a fun We thank God Sharia is already in Ibadan...so their noice is immaterial |

Politics › Re: How Akpabio Offered Each Senator $5000 Bribe Over Tinubu's Tax Reform Bill by Cajal(m): 8:02pm On Dec 09, 2024 |
Bebigiby1: One of the sources noted that "the Senate leadership is offering $5,000 to each senator from Southern Nigeria and select senators from Northern Nigeria to lobby support for the tax reform bills."
Amid the controversies being generated by President Bola Tinubu's tax reforms bill, the Nigerian Senate leadership is presently reaching to members of the Upper Chamber with at least $5000 inducement to ensure pasage of the bill, SaharaReporters can report.
Senate sources informed SaharaReporters that the leadership has reached out to each Southern senator with the offer, while some selected northern senators would also be captured in the plot to lobby the legislators.
SaharaReporters gathered that there is presently growing fear that the legislators had been compromised in their decision to approve Tinubu's proposed tax reforms, following the money being shared within the legislative chamber to sway votes.
One of the sources noted that "the Senate leadership is offering $5,000 to each senator from Southern Nigeria and select senators from Northern Nigeria to lobby support for the tax reform bills."
Southern Nigeria is represented by 51 senators, while Northern Nigeria has 58 senators in the chamber.
It was claimed that the Senate leadership, predominantly from Southern Nigeria, is employing a "divide and rule" strategy, targeting a few Northern senators with additional incentives and welfare promises to secure their support.
"For Southern senators, the leadership is reportedly attempting to evoke regional solidarity and anti-Northern sentiments while offering each senator $5000 as an inducement to back the controversial bills. Last week, all 51 Southern senators were approached with this offer," the source added.
SaharaReporters had days ago reported that members of the Senate from the South-South region of Nigeria on Thursday announced their support for the controversial tax reform bills presented by Tinubu.
The lawmakers who announced their support of the bills in a communiqué issued in Abuja, had also reaffirmed their strong backing of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, one of the South-South states.
The communiqué was signed by Senator Seriake Dickson (Chairman), Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe (Secretary), Senator Barinada Mpigi, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Neda Imasuen, Senator Munir Ned Nwoko, Senator Thomas Joel-Onowakpo, Senator Aniekan Bassey, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, and Senator Allwell Onyeso.
Other signatories include; Senator Ipalibo Banigo, Senator Benson Agadaga, Senator Konbowei Benson, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, Senator Ekong Sampson, and Senator Ede Dafinone.
Whereas some lawmakers, governors and political leaders from the Northern region of the country and certain groups from other parts of the country have raised resistance against the bills, calling for its withdrawal, the South-South senators stressed that their support of the bills is rooted in a shared commitment to increasing national revenue and fostering economic growth.
Part of the communiqué had read, “Following a meeting on December 4, 2024, we, the Senators from the South-South Geopolitical Zone, convened to deliberate on pressing national issues and the Senate’s role in advancing the collective interests of Nigeria. After thorough discussions, we reached the following resolutions.
“The South-South Senators unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting his leadership in guiding the Senate toward fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities, including passing laws that serve the best interests of the nation and its citizens.
“We pledge our full support to the Senate President and the leadership of the National Assembly as they work to ensure the effective and timely passage of legislation that promotes good governance, national unity, and economic development.
“Understanding the critical role of tax reforms in enhancing national revenue and ensuring economic stability, we have resolved to support the Tax Reform Bills.
“Our support will be based on a comprehensive review and in-depth evaluation of the bills’ contents to ensure they align with the broader interests of Nigerians, particularly the well-being of the South-South region.
“We call for restraint from those introducing sentiments, whether regional, ethnic, or tribal, into this national dialogue. We look forward to continued robust discussions and consultations as already initiated by the Senate.
“We remain committed to collaborating with our colleagues across the Senate and all relevant stakeholders to foster a legislative agenda that ensures the peace, prosperity, and progress of our nation.”
Meanwhile, it was reported that the South-East Caucus in the Nigerian Senate failed to endorse the controversial tax bill.
The Senate caucus had joined called for wider consultations before the passage of the bill, insisting that there are needs for constituents, stakeholders to be consulted.
The senators had revealed their stance on Monday following a closed-door meeting of senators from the five South-East states, held in the office of their leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (APGA, Abia South).
Abaribe who spoke on behalf of the caucus stated that the caucus does not oppose the proposed tax reforms.
It was stated that the caucus, however, believed that more extensive engagement with stakeholders was necessary.
He had noted that this would be important before the bills are fully considered by both chambers.

RIDORSHE: I have great respect for Dr. Kwankwaso because he stands apart from others, who often speaks negatively about Nigeria. However, his stance and interpretation of the proposed tax bill are laughable, especially coming from a former governor and a one-time presidential candidate of the NNPP.
The bill is clear and fair, advocating for fiscal federalism—allowing hardworking states to enjoy the fruits of their labor. It's no longer business as usual; for too long, we’ve been robbing Peter to pay Paul. Kwankwaso was content when revenue generated from oil-rich states was redistributed to Kano under the guise of federalism. However, he now feels insecure because the proposed bill seeks to prioritize states' contributions in revenue distribution.
This mindset is part of what has continually impoverished the northern region. The steady federal allocation from Abuja has made some northern governors complacent, failing to think outside the box to improve productivity in their states. That said, it is visible to the blind the monumental development achieved by some Northern governors, such as Governor Bago of Niger State in agricultural mechanization, Governor Zulum of Borno State, Governor Sule of Nasarawa State, and Governor AbdulRazaq of Kwara State.
As Muslims, we are discouraged from earning through haram means, as emphasized in *Sahih Muslim 10*. This bill aligns with Islamic principles and should receive widespread support from Northern Muslims. It’s time to embrace fairness and accountability for the sake of true development. Jazakhumllah khair brother |
