Fun fact is that since 1947, only three Kentucky governors have been republican and each had only four years as governor, the rest have all been Democrats since 1947!!! so if you are saying Kentucky is doing poorly as a state, then the blame must go to Democrats!

Who do you think runs things in the South (with the light shading that represents the lowest human development indices in the USA)? If you guessed it was the good old boys with the Republican Party, then Bingo, you're right!
Also, many Democrats who do run in the South (which Kentucky tends to align with) tend to be almost like moderate Republicans to be in keeping with their constituencies there who lean far to the right - Senator Doug Jones of Alabama, for example.
