... And herein lies the problem! The problem of brazen corruption!

We have two refineries which the FG claims to be working and we have a private refinery which can cater for the local demand but the NNPC needs to import. Why?

Can anyone please explain the rationale behind this and how the price of import with all the added on components such as shipping costs and all other taxes still compete with the price of locally produced products?
You have 2 refineries? grin grin where? In your backyard? You are right by saying FG claimed, so you don't even believe the words of the FG.

There are NO refineries, they don't exist. It was all lies!

They will fund your genocide, mass unemployment , low quality of education and what not if it meant more money too.

Good point but then again think about it, phone calls and emails changed the way humans communicated and we adapted to it. Now that social media is here to stay, we must learn to adapt to that as well.

Communicating with people physically is essential no doubt and my guess is that VR will help fix that in no time. We can't go backwards. Best to fix any underlying concerns with better technology
Abolutely. Interesting times indeed.

I actually do like to think that when that time comes, humans would be better for it since robots will take care of the mundane things/hard labour like cooking, farming, construction etc giving us room to worry less and connect more with our emotional/spiritual side.

Think of it this way. If a Nigerian is always worried about consistent power supply, what happens when he leaves for UK or US? Well when he gets there, he no longer needs to worry since it is always there and so his interests shifts to other things.

If we have robots and AI practically doing everything for us, then our interests will radically shift towards what the AIs cannot handle which is our emotions and spirituality and hopefully the world will be better for it.

I must confess that my idea is not original. Two decades ago, I read a sci fi book that practically describes what we are all concerned about now and more. You should read it too. The book is Abduction by Robin Cook who incidentally is also a medical doctor and a visionary. The book also alluded to a concept called Uploaded Intelligence which the animation Pantheon in Netflix shed better light on. Uploaded intelligence is yet to be a thing but maybe some day.

Intereting times we live in and I am grateful that I get to witness some of it
Yes,

I agree. I would like to read the book too.

In terms of our emotions spiritualities. Well hopelly might improve for the better or as i said we might end up depressed for not engaging our brains and bodies more. Some people feels better emotionally when they are busy at work, take that away they b be so bored they d end up using susbtances to kill their boredom. People would interact less. I mean, look at what social media has done to us, people hardly interact physically. Friends that i would bother to visit before would just watssap or facebook me and vise versa.

Very interesting times, am glad to be around also.

You must be very young and inexperienced.

Except for a congenital disfigurement, every lady is averagely beautiful. What you see most times is their made up face.

I present Funke Akindele and Tiwa Savage with and without makeup.

Don't let makeup confuse you as beauty: every woman in their own right is beautiful with or without painting.
Whaaaaaa! These 2 are very ugeelee. shocked embarassed

Every woman is not beautiful, come on man!

There are beautiful women and there are ugeelee women. Believe it or not.

Where in the world is family business considered as child labour? Abroad where we always reference, the first place a kid get life skills is if the family is lucky to have a family business. Will you call kids that grow up in farms, that milk cows, that plant, weed, tender to crops and animals slave labour? A baker, mechanic, craftsman, builder etc where their kids assist with the family trade. Infact this lady and her siblings have a huge advantage starting life, the experience of the business, what story do you want to tell her about tissue paper business she does not already know? People pay to learn the trade she already knows by virtue of participating in her father's trade.
My siblings and I in the late 80s worked as kids in dad's plastic factory with other workers, trimming plastic and operating injection molding machines, you wount have known the difference between us and other workers, sometimes we entered public transport to work other times a Mercedes benz S class took us to the factory. What do you want to tell me today about the plastic business I do not know?
It is child labour, maybe in Naigeeria people don't see it as such. Kids can get life experiences from their parents but not nercerssarily skills.

Those kids has no choice, they feel obligated to work in that factory, perharps if they are given a choice they d rather be doing something else, like hanging out with friends or engaging in kids activities. Besides, kid doesn't have to follow in their family businesess.

Abroad as you calli it, if a person is not atleast 17 any work they do that brings income to their parents or guardian is child labour and against the law. For example at 17 years old, apart from looking after one's siblings any other child looked after by a 17 years old must be paid for. And if one is not 17 years old and is made to care for someone's child even just for 2 hours is child labour.

As i said, afrcans do not see anything wrong with it. This kids are not proffessionals they are not even trained, to use the proper PPE to do the work, if they happen to injure themeselves in the process of working in an indequate environment they could end up permanently disabled.

Forget the Mercedes Benz, it means nothing to children. This is the problem. Did anyone bother to ask those children how they feel working there? NO!

To be part of a family business one has to be atleast 17 years old and must be paid maybe not as in salary but otherwise.

This is why many Naigeerians think it is okay to take children as "maids" or "house helps" and keep exploiting them because these children have no choice. It is totally wrong. Some crazy people even end up murdering the poor child maid or house help. It is wrong!
