The Federal Government has officially abolished the HND/BSc dichotomy. Polytechnics will now award degrees directly. This means HND holders will have equal standing with university graduates in the job market and employers cannot legally discriminate between them.
This came alongside the earlier announcement that the HND to BSc conversion programme has been discontinued by NUC.
For 2026 JAMB candidates who scored below university cutoffs — polytechnic just became a much more attractive option. A 100 cutoff minimum, full degree award, no stigma in the job market.
Also still happening this week:

So I have been seeing a lot of posts here from 2026 JAMB candidates asking "is my score enough to enter [university]?" and I decided to do something about it.
I spent the last few months building a free tool that answers this question using actual data. It is called CampusAI.ng and it works like this:
You enter your JAMB score, your course and your university. It then calculates your aggregate using that school's exact formula — whether they use 50:50, 50:30:20 or point-based system — and tells you your admission probability as a percentage based on the last 3 years of cutoff data.
