Education / ASUU Strike: Police Warns Nigerian Students Over Niger Bridge, Gives Reasons by Campusparot: 9:41pm On Jan 29, 2019 |
The Anambra State Police Command has warned the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Zone B, against its planned move to barricade the Niger Bridge in Onitsha. NANS planned to block the Bridge to protest the current strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, warned organisers of the protest to steer clear of the Onitsha Bridge Head. In a statement he signed, Mohammed said the warning was to help forestall serious traffic congestion and avoidable hardships to the general Public. According to Mohammed: “It has come to the knowledge of the Anambra State police command that members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone ‘B’ have concluded plans to stage a protest tagged “Operation No Movement,” aimed at registering their displeasure over the perceived delay in resolving the ongoing strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP). “During the protests, members of NANS plan to occupy the Onitsha Bridge Head, which is the gateway to the South East and other parts of South-South geopolitical zones thereby paralysing vehicular movements and economic activities in the state. “In view of the foregoing, the command wishes to warn organisers of the protest to stay clear of the Onitsha Bridge Head which is the gateway to the South East. This is to help forestall serious traffic congestion and avoidable hardships to the general public. “The command will not hesitate to take all necessary steps to prevent any individual or groups of individuals from disrupting the relative peace enjoyed in the state which the command and other law- enforcement agencies work assiduously to maintain.” https://www.google.com/amp/dailypost.ng/2019/01/29/ASUU-strike-police-warns-nigerian-students-niger-bridge-gives-reasons/amp/ 1 Like

In line with the laid down practice of the Academic Staff Union of Universities , (ASUU) to conduct weekly Congresses since the current national strike was declared, a Congress was duly and formally convened today, Monday the 28 of January 2019 at AAU, Ekpoma under the supervision of the Immediate Past Zonal Coordinaton who stood in for the current Zonal Coordinator, Branch Chairpersons and other ASUU leaders of the Zone. At the Congress however, a few puppets of the University Administration attacked the Branch Chairperson, seized the microphone, smashed the public address system and disrupted the meeting in furtherance of the desire of the Vice Chancellor to prevent academic staff of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma from restating their undiluted will to continue to uphold the spirit and letters of the total, comprehensive and indefinite strike action of ASUU, We are, therefore, using this medium to reaffirm that academic staff at AAUE are fully resolved to continue with the strike action and hereby reemphasize that the strike is fully on, We al advise parents of AAUE students to consider the safety and welfare of their children and keep them at home as they may fall victims of unwholesome acts out of idleness as there will not be any academic activity. Speaking with a senior Professor of the University He said The Professor Onimawo Led Administration is minding his administrative position into politics which will eat him up in due time We are aware the vice chancellor is canvassing some of us to quit ASUU to join his so called CONA which is headed by just two members that where rusticated by this Association We are also aware that He paid some newspaper to publish some wrong information and yet he is clamoring the university is broke to pay salary that why he his forcing for resumption The professor assured that immediately the strike is called off the Vice chancellor would be probed for MI's appropriation of funds Campusparot went round campus speaking with some student it was gathered that 80% of lecturers are fully on strike the only lecture held today was taken by Prof Sunny Edeko and various HOD's alongside few lecturers It was also discovered that Prof Sunny Edeko Who happen to be the Dean Faculty of Law took some courses in the Faculty of Engineering just to ensure the strike action is not pronounced which is said to be against the NUC law The University Management appealed to all HOD's to take pictures of lectures with student so as to reveal to the public that classes are going on Many student are actually disappointed in the ASUU-AAU rift Speaking with an online Personality Who happens to be the Most Updated student from our discovery Thompson Jotham (Perfection) has still again refuse to speak to the press has he sabotage all effort to get across to student. Education / NANS Set To Shutdown Onitsha Bridge, Close Down All Universities And Roads by Campusparot: 1:11pm On Jan 23, 2019 |
NANS ZONE B DECLARE TO SHUTDOWN ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES IN THE MAJOR CITIES OF SOUTH-EAST AND SOUTH-SOUTH AS THE LAST OPTION IN 3'Cs!! In line with the revolutionary calls by the Students Congress in the zone, I the Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) South-East and South-South region hereby announce operation "NO MOVEMENT" between the head Bridge that connects Delta State Capital in South-South and Onitsha in South-East as a sign of expressing our pains and sufferings as students inflicted on us by the government we had enthrone with Epileptic Educational System in Nigeria. It is no longer news that NANS have exhausted her two Cs out of the three which is Consultation and Consolidation approach and are left with the nothing than the 3rd C which is Confrontations. It is horrible to note that our Governors are not talking us serious, our Representatives are only interested in elections, the lecturers are now business men and women and the government are not showing signs of seriousness and this is unacceptable to us as a region. I have started my consultation and I will consult all the Stakeholders, the National and Zonal Executive Council Members of NANS from my zone , the JCC Chairmen and our Senators(SUG Presidents) and we shall fix a date shortly to occupy NIGER BRIDGE for three days. Please come with your stoves, rice and beans as we shall fish from the River Niger, cook and eat at the major road. NOTE. 1.All SUG and other Aluta Vehicle's tyre we shall deflect at the Niger bridge. 2.We shall be ready to face arrest by the Army, Police and DSS. 3.We shall remain resolute and keep wake to our resolve there for that three days until the strike is called off. Remember, we struggle to do INEC Registration in our campuses, the politicians are no longer taking us serious as a people because they think our voting strength have been reduced and they are saving money to BUY our PVCs as votes but We shall resist them!. The action is necessary in other to take our destinies into our own hands. Thompson Jotham from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma will bring all live update to Nigeria students at large Enough is Enough!!!. Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win!!!. Just like any other day, Jan 27th, 2002 will be a day Lagosians will never forget in a hurry. It is a Sunday afternoon, just after service, we all thought it's going to rain as there are thundering sounds, I remembered my mom told me to go and pack the washed clothes inside because it is about to rain, little did we know that calamity and wailings await the center of excellence. 3000 were reported dead in the Oke Afa river of the Ikeja cantonment. This is not to bore you, but to have a reflect on Ikeja 27th Jan., bombing in Lagos. Let these pictures refresh your mind... 2002 Lagos armoury explosion The Lagos armoury explosion was the accidental detonation of a large stock of military high explosives at a storage facility in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, on 27 January 2002. The fires created by the debris from this explosion burnt down a large section of Northern Lagos, and created a panic that spread to other areas. As people fled the flames, many stumbled into a concealed canal and were drowned. The explosion and its aftermath are believed to have killed at least 1,100 people and displaced over 20,000, with many thousands injured or homeless. The government of Nigeria launched an enquiry, which blamed the Nigerian Army for failing to properly maintain the base, or to decommission it when instructed to do so in 2001. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Lagos_armoury_explosion

THE BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY, A CROSS FIRE AND THE CLASH OF THE TITIANS* READ FOR BETTER UNDERSTANDING https://www.nairaland.com/4974769/ambrose-alli-university-students-dilemma/1#75000172 It is no longer news that the Academic Staff Union of University, AAU CHAPTER vowed to continue the on going strike despite instruction from the university senate to resume academic activities *MANAGEMENT STAND* The Position of the University is clearly stated that *_state universities don't benefit from ASUU struggle owing to the fact that state universities are solely funded by the state government and the university management not Federal Government_* Ambrose Alli University state government gives 40-45% of what the university use to run it day to day activities while the school generate it revenue from students and other minor revenue within the university community The University Governing council sat and deliberated that if this strike linger for so long a time would come where the university will not get money to run it daily activities and when the strike is called off officially which school will the student run too... Is it the one already closed school? The Governing council sent the memo to the university senate to sit and deliberate on the issue which they saw it to be a good idea which led to the forcefully declaring open of the university despite ASUU Congress The university system is also poised at running a 3 semester calendar in a year which would aid the production of young graduates The university vision and mission is poised at making Ambrose Alli University the best state university in Nigeria *ASUU STAND* The Academic Staff Union of University AAU CHAPTER is poised at continuation of the ongoing strike until national body calls it off ASUU AAU CHAPTER made it clear that the distance they have covered Is more than where they have not covered and it would be so foolish going back when we are on the verge of victory ASUU made it clear that the University is what it is today because of its Struggle The only structure the state government has erected in Ambrose Alli University is the TWIN LECTURE Theatre & NEW LECTURE THEATRE (NLT) all other structures are from TETFUND and other beneficiaries It should be recalled that during the struggle the President Muhammad BUHARI released billions of naira for *TETFUND PROJECT WHICH AMBROSE ALLI UNIVERSITY WILL BENEFIT FROM* The ASUU CHAIRMAN Dr Monday Igbafen made it clear today that the university is aware that NO STUDENTS. WILL RECEIVE COMPREHENSIVE LECTURES due of the stand of the Union but because its need money to pay salaries that's the reason why they are forcefully calling students back to school They are saying we are fighting for our pocket are they not also fighting for their salaries too?? Igbafen speaks So therefore I am urging all parent to keep their wards and children at home and not to allow them take the risk of travelling down in vein because they won't get comprehensive lectures SPEAKING ON LECTURE FIXING Yes, we are aware some HOD's are fixing classes, calling class rep but you should know those persons are appointee of the management and they can't go against them I want to urge all class reps to call the lecturers taking those courses and ask them if they will take those classes or not SPEAKING ON COUA Dr Monday Igbafen made it known that only two members are in the so called association and hereby challenge the *Congress of university Association* to call for Congress so the public would see it full members He also said No pressure group has any right to open or close down school except the University Senate Dr Monday Igbafen advise all parent to keep their wards at home as the university is fully on strike STAND OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SENATE THE university senate is supreme and academic calendar is out and would start rolling as from Monday The University Senate is bent on following the academic calendar strictly and would not hesitate to conduct examination ISSUE OF EXAMINATION DR MONDAY IGBAFEN made if known that it's members will not mark any examination that was not set by them. DR NWOKE made it. Clear that ASUU are not fighting for the interest of the student but their selfish reason He also made it known that since his 100level days in school the association keeps on striking for irrelevant issues that would not even make impact in the university It should also be recalled that the Dean Faculty of Law describe the association as SATANIC AND DEMONIC MY OPINION From my own point of view students who deemed it fit to resume should do so but also endeavour to attend tutorials because senate will conduct exam at due time THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT 1 Like
