Education / Teacher Suffers A Schoolgirl With Heavy Menstrual Flow by Campuzhit: 6:25pm On Jul 23, 2019
A schoolgirl, who teacher suffers a heavy menstrual cycle, was; refused a bathroom break by her teacher when she was on her period.

Maisie-Rae Adams, 14, said; she was; left with no choice but to storm out of the classroom when her teacher suffers and wouldn't let her go to the bathroom to take care of herself.

When she returned to class her bag had been; taken to another room and she was told she was excluded from the lesson.

The teenager, who says she suffers from a heavy menstrual cycle that can see her having up to three periods a month, claims that her teacher at Rednock School in Dursley, Gloucestershire, told her to control her period.

Maisie-Rae said: "The class seemed to be in shock at what happened. I grabbed my pad and went to the toilet. When I tried to come back
into the classroom the teacher told me that my bag was; in another room and I could not go back to class.

Maisie-Rae's mum, Kelly said: "When Maisie told me about it I felt so angry that I could cry. She is a mini me. With her confidence and even her shyness we are the same. I know how she feels. Maisie felt humiliated and embarrassed and it is horrible what happened to her. She should never’ve had a detention for needing to go to the toilet during her period."

Girl, 14, who teacher suffers a heavy menstrual cycle says teacher told her to control her period

Kelly and her daughter now intend to introduce pink bands so that pupils can discretely tell teachers they are on their period, despite the school already having a similar scheme.

Mum-of-four Kelly added: "The school have said; to us in the meeting that they have a pink card policy that the girls can show the teacher.

Maisie was not aware of this though. I think it would be a good idea to get the girls wearing a little pink wristband and then it would show the teachers and others that the girl is on her period and that they may be a little emotional and unable to concentrate that week.

"I want to be able to go into the school and talk about what happens to the girls and we need to make sure that the girls are not ashamed of what is happening to their bodies."

Headteacher David Alexander told Metro UK in reaction to the incident: "I can’t talk about individual students, however I can talk about what we do. We do allow students to go to the toilet for issues relating to their period.

"In fact we have 'time out' cards specifically for that purpose – we introduced to all girls in assemblies at the start of the year. Every girl had the opportunity to carry one. We are sensitive to the needs of all students but especially girls in this situation who are developing emotionally and physically.

"We provide free tampons and sanitary towels for those who need them. The situation is not as has been; interpreted but I cannot go into details. Clearly we will reflect on this so that we learn from it and improve."

Education / Causes Of Depression Among Student In Nigeria by Campuzhit: 7:48am On Jun 24, 2019
lack of sleep, poor eating habits, and not enough exercise are a recipe for depression among college students. The stress that comes with academia — including financial worries, pressure to get a good job after; school, and failed relationships — is enough to force some students to leave college or worse.

Many factors of college life contribute to risk factors of depression. Many students are unprepared for; university life. Today’s students face high debt. They also have fewer job prospects after graduation than previous generations. These added concerns can lead to depressive episodes in college students.Depressed students are at a greater risk of developing problems such as substance abuse. Depressed college students are more likely to binge drink, smoke marijuana, and participate in risky sexual behaviors to cope with emotional pain than are their nondepressed peers

Often, a breakup will precipitate a bout of depressive feelings. Risks of depression related to a breakup include intrusive thoughts, difficulty controlling those thoughts, and trouble sleeping. As many as 43 percent of students experience insomnia in the months following a breakup.

Students that are most likely to become distressed after a breakup experienced neglect or abuse during childhood, had an insecure attachment style, felt more betrayed, and were more unprepared for the breakup.

Fortunately, the best therapy for depression precipitated by a breakup is time. Cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and, especially, complicated grief therapy also have high success rates for helping to heal a broken heart.

Suicide and college students
In the United States, suicide is the second leading cause of death among people aged 15–34 years. Among young adults aged 18–25 years, 8.3 percent have had serious thoughts of suicide.

College is a stressful environment for; most young people, therefore it’s especially important for parents, friends, faculty, and counselors to get involved if they suspect a student is suffering from; depression.

Education / 2019 Steps On How To Write A Term Paper And Score High by Campuzhit: 11:10am On May 29, 2019
CHOOSE YOUR TOPIC;

Try to make it as creative as possible; if you're given the opportunity to choose your own, take advantage of this.Choose something you're particularly interested in because this will make it easier to write; in particular, try to select the topic as a result of pressing questions you already know you want to search for answers to. Once you've decided on a topic, be sure to hone down it to a do-able topic; often a topic is initially too broad in its coverage, which will make it impossible to complete within the time and space constraints given. Narrow down your topic to something that can really be worked within the boundaries of the paper. If the topic is already chosen for you, start exploring unique angles that can set your content and information apart from the more obvious approaches many others will probably take.

DO YOUR RESEARCH

It's pointless to launch into writing before you've done the research. You need to understand the background to the topic and the current thinking, as well as finding out what future research is considered necessary in the area. While it may be tempting to rehash information you already know really well, avoid doing this or you learn nothing from the research and writing process.

REFINE YOUR THESIS STATEMENT

After you've done the research, reflect back over the chosen topic. At this point, it's essential to pinpoint the single, strong idea you'll be discussing, your assertion that you believe you can defend throughout the paper and that makes it clear to a reader what they're about to learn about and be given a sound conclusion on. Your thesis statement is the spine of your essay, the idea that you'll go on to defend in the paragraphs that follow.

DEVELOP AN OUTLINE FOR THE PAPER

Some people can work on a term paper skipping this step; they're a rare and often time-pressed breed. It is far better to have an outline sketched out so that you know where you're headed, just as a road map helps you to know where you're going from A to B. Like the entire paper, the outline is not set in stone but subject to changes

MAKE YOUR POINT IN THE INTRODUCTION

CONVIENCE THE READER WITH BODY PARAGRAPHS

CONCLUDE WITH STRENGTH

According to an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, the deceased was found when one of his colleagues spotted someone in the pool long after everyone else had left the pool.

"When I and my friends were about leaving the event before they locked our hostel, we heard someone had drowned in the pool. I was shocked because there was no sign of such and everyone had left the pool a long time before then".

Education / 23 Unn Staff Under Investigation Over A Job Scam by Campuzhit: 11:21am On May 14, 2019
Amidst public outcry over the level of employment scam rocking the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba has disclosed that no fewer than 23 persons were already answering questions from security operatives.

Ozumba stated this while responding to questions from journalists on Monday during his end-tenure press briefing at the UNN.

It is reported that money ranging from N500,000 to N1.5m was being collected from job seekers. Some of them end up not getting any job even after making the said payment.

While saying he does not respond to rumours, the VC declared that “if you are a victim, or you know any of such persons, let him come up, we will

“Already we are working with the DSS on this and 23 persons are already being interrogated. There is also the issue of admission racketeering; these things did not start today, they have been there.”

On his stewardship for the five years as the 14th Vice Chancellor of the University, he said he met a dysfunctional University, but that he braved the odds and sanitized the system.

“Prior to 2014, the University was listed as dysfunctional but today and for the third consecutive year since 2016, we are ranked by Webometrics as number one University in Nigeria, especially in the area of research.

“Our enviable position as the Best in Research publications is still very evident and among the top 1500 Universities in the world”, he said.

He said his administration met backlog of programme and course not accredited.

“Today, the story is different as over 100 academic programme running in this university are fully accredited.

“I will remain grateful to council members and university management for their support and cooperation.

“Under my stewardship new faculties were created such as faculty of Vocational and Technical Education and Faculty of Basic Medical Science are created,” he added.

He expressed appreciation to the university council members, university management staff and students for the maximum support and cooperation given to his administration.

The Vice Chancellor said his first move on assumption of office was to restore peace and tranquility within the campuses, as well as improve the welfare of staff and students.

Ozumba said his administration enhanced knowledge and usage of ICT creation of new faculties; Establishment of Science Park; regular and prompt payment of workers salaries, as well as the generation of electricity from wastes and manufacturing of the lion laptop as innovations to put the university on the world map, among others.

The VC said his administration had a cordial relationship with Students Union Government (SUG) because staff and students welfare were given special attention.

Ozumba said his administration had some completed projects to be inaugurated before his exit in June 14.

In a remark, the chairman of the end of service committee, Prof. Nnanyelugo Okoro, described the VC as a consummate administrator and a professional per excellence whose tenure had achieved much for the university.
