Professor Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, the Vice-chancellor of Kwara State University has been directed to step down from office with immediate effect, while Professor Kenneth Adeyemi has been directed to serve as acting Vice Chancellor while Mr Naalah proceeds on terminal leave. This development was conveyed in a statement by the Kwara government on Monday afternoon.

Mr Na’allah, 56, was appointed vice-chancellor at the inception of the university in the 2009-2010 academic session. The state government did not give any reason for the sudden removal of Mr Na’Allah, the pioneer head of the institution.

Vice-chancellor of Kwara State University Sacked With Immediate Effect

The Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Abdullahi Alikinla, urged Mr Adeyemi to “take charge of responsibilities relating to the smooth running of the institution in accordance with the law establishing it.” Mr Alikinla said Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed took the decisions regarding the two professors in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Kwara State University Law 2009, as amended.

The law, he said, empowers the governor, as the visitor to the University, to appoint and remove the Vice Chancellor for good cause and following due consultations.

However, the Nigerian Tribune is quoting the chairman of the university’s governing council, Saka Nuru, as dissociating the council from the governor’s action.

However, Nigerian Tribune while reporting the story quoted the chairman of the university’s governing council, Saka Nuru, as saying;

“This directive is not in tune with the University’s law and is going to lead to distraction from the Rain Semester examination and the process appointment of principal officers that are currently in progress,"

PoliticsAmaechi Lauds Maritime Academy Oron Under New Management by Campuzhit(op): 7:45am On May 07, 2019
Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has praised the Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron for turning the fortune of the academy around.

The Minister disclosed this when he commissioned projects embarked upon to reposition the academy by the Rector, Commodore Emmanuel Effedua (rtd) at the institution.

The minister had commissioned the academy’s new auditorium, two air conditioned class rooms, sport stadium, Information Technology (ICT) centres, simulator centre and Library complex.

But, speaking after the commissioning, the Minister said the Interim Management Committee (IMC) set up to reposition the academy in 2017 had complained about poor application of resources, poor academic environment and numerous abandoned projects have stunted the growth of the academy.

According to the minister, a former Rector of the academy, Late Joshua Okpo had mismanaged N19billion of the academy in one year.

According to him, that had also contributed to the stunted growth of the institution.

“I don’t think this school lacks money because the former man who died when I look at his books, in one year, he spent N19billion. If you give me the money I will turn this place around and when I told him I will investigate him, two or three weeks later, he died I don’t know what killed him but if he had been alive we would have looked at how he spent N19billion because there were uncompleted projects,” he stated.

However, the minister advised the Rector to employ qualified lecturers even if it entails hiring lecturers from abroad.

He said, “The IMC had recommended that the bane of the academy were poor academic environment, numerous abandoned projects and poor application of resources that they get from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) so to get what we are looking for, we have to reverse those three things identified. We have been able to complete those projects that have been abandoned.”

Speaking on hiring of qualified lecturers, Amaechi said, “We have promised to hire more lecturers especially from outside the country. The government must enable them to do that and key to that, we must also train our people because at the end the day those coming from oversee will deserve special funds and the government must enable them to do that but key to that is we must send our people out for training because those from oversee will desire special funds and will not still wait back so we have to send our people for training and bring them back to take over from people we have hired to teach so that is more of a short term measure.

EducationFg Says Dangote Invest More On University Education Than Individual by Campuzhit(op): 7:09am On May 07, 2019
The Federal Government has revealed that the N1.2billion hostel donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria is the single largest donation by an individual in the history of Universities in Nigeria.

Executive Secretary of the National University Commission (NUC) Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed who represented President Muhammadu Buhari at the commissioning of the Aliko Dangote Hall extended the Federal Government’s appreciation to the President of the Dangote Group.

The President said: “You have done what no other Nigerian has done since 1948 when the first university was founded. This is the single largest intervention by any individual in any university in this country in the 70 years history of our university. So I congratulate Alhaji Aliko Dangote.” A visibly elated Governor of Kaduna State Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai described Dangote’s generosity as unprecedented, especially his support for education.

Speaking the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Ibrahim Garba said Dangote will forever remain dearly to the Ahmadu Bello University. He added: “The student population of ABU is over 50,000, made up of about 35,000 undergraduates and about 15,000 postgraduates. Every year, 11,500 undergraduates and about 6,000 postgraduates are admitted while about 6,000 undergraduates and 3,000 postgraduates respectively graduate. In any one academic year, we are only able to accommodate about 13,000 students on our two campuses.”

The Vice Chancellor said:” We are happy that Alhaji Aliko Dangote has fulfilled the pledge he made in 2016 to build 10 blocks of hostels for Ahmadu Bello University’s student to improve their living condition. “We may accommodate six students per room.

This will certainly go a long way in ameliorating the accommodation scarcity bedeviling the university. “We thank Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his intervention, we thank member of the Aliko Dangote Foundation and the entire Dangote Family. This is unprecedented for us we can’t ask for anything more except if he thinks of anything he wants to add on his own volition.” Mr. Dangote also bagged an Honorary Doctorate Degree. Speaking about his motivation, Mr. Dangote said: “If there are two things that I am passionate about, they are education and entrepreneurship https://www.campuzhit.com/thread.php?id=363

EducationGuidelines To Become A Qualified Nurse by Campuzhit(op): 3:28pm On May 03, 2019
DIPLOMA IN NURSING

A diploma in nursing provides students with basic nursing knowledge and hands-on practical nursing experience in a clinical setting. A nursing diploma program typically takes two to three years to complete, depending on a student’s enrollment status. Nursing diploma students enroll in courses covering topics such as lifespan nursing concepts, nursing informatics, basic pharmacology and psychology, and public health. A large portion of the nursing diploma program involves direct patient care, often through hospitals or health providers with ties to the school.

A nursing diploma program prepares students to pass the NCLEX-RN, a basic requirement for nursing professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada. An RN license qualifies holders for several entry-level nursing positions and further studies in the nursing field.

Since diploma programs immerse students in direct patient care, students graduate from the program with practical nursing skills that prove invaluable not only in a hospital setting, but in other clinical environments as well. Additionally, completing a nursing diploma program gives students the chance to enter the workforce sooner. Students who wish to pursue further studies can do so while already working in the field.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (BSN)

A bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) features 120 credits and typically takes four years of full-time enrollment to complete. However, licensed registered nurses with an associate degree in nursing can usually earn a BSN after just two years of full-time study. Many hospitals and other health-based organizations prefer nurses with BSN degrees. In addition to more job options, nurses with a BSN degree are also more likely to be promoted and entrusted with greater responsibilities.

Many colleges and universities now offer online RN-to-BSN programs. Nurses no longer have to stop working while pursuing their BSN degree, since they can more easily fit online classes around their busy schedules. A typical BSN curriculum includes courses on topics such as emergency care; health assessment; nutrition; public and global health; and family, community, and population-based care.
