Hello house! I've been trying to book a biometric appointment recently, specifically through the VFS website, but it didn't work. I was wondering if anyone has successfully booked an appointment lately. When I tried on the VFS website, it didn't seem to work. |

I've just received my admission letter and have successfully paid the initial deposit. Now, I'm facing the next step: the visa application process. I would be incredibly grateful if anyone could offer guidance or share their experiences to help me navigate this process. |

As previously mentioned in my earlier post, I hold a Bachelor's degree in International History & International Studies. Regrettably, despite my earnest endeavors, I have not been successful in securing admission to programs directly aligned with my educational background and current professional experience, particularly in Human Resource Management or Project Management.
In light of this situation, I have been offered admission to a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) program in Supply Chain Management at Mohawk College. Although this field is not directly related to my BSc or my current position as a Program Officer 2 with responsibilities in human resources and project management, I am now faced with the dilemma of proceeding with this opportunity or reassessing my academic path.
One avenue I am considering is the preparation of a strong Statement of Purpose (SOP) as part of my visa application. This SOP would be meticulously crafted to articulate my rationale for pursuing the Supply Chain Management program despite the apparent deviation from my previous academic and professional track. My intention is to clearly communicate how this choice aligns with my long-term career goals and how the knowledge and skills gained in this program will complement my existing expertise. Ultimately, I seek to convince the Visa Officer of the logical and coherent nature of my decision.
House, I value your expertise and would greatly appreciate your guidance on whether this strategy holds merit or if it is advisable to just backtrack. If there are alternative approaches or options that you believe I should explore, I am open to your suggestions. |

Lekiboboe: Good....
Leverage on your work experience to apply for a Post Graduate Certificate admission, cos there seem to be a connection with your work experience and project management.
I don't know if you submitted a COVER LETTER and a Canadian Style RÉSUMÉ for your admission, if you didn't, do that in your next application for a PostGraduate Certificate program, it could/would boost your chances for the admission and show you are a good fit for the program.
You need to Draft a cover letter for admission that will show the admission committee how your work experience, your Bachelor's degree align with the post graduate certificate Program most especially the course outline of that program

Admissions Committee Post Graduate Certificate in Project Management Cambrian College Sudbury, Ontario
Dear Admissions Committee,
I am writing to express my strong interest in the Post Graduate Certificate in the Project Management program at Cambrian College. The comprehensive course outlines you provide align perfectly with my aspirations and professional background, making this program an ideal fit for my continued education and career growth.
My work experience as a Program Officer 2 at the National Orientation Agency in Lagos State, Nigeria, has equipped me with practical skills that resonate well with the content of the project management courses offered in the program. I have successfully led the development of project scopes, budgets, and timelines while obtaining necessary approvals, a practice that aligns closely with the curriculum's emphasis on Project Scope Management, Project Quality Management, and Project Cost Management. Additionally, my collaboration with the Purchasing Department on RFP development and contractor selection reflects a synergy with the Project Procurement Management module.
Having facilitated project meetings involving internal and external stakeholders, I have gained insights into effective communication strategies and stakeholder engagement, skills that would be enhanced further through the Project Stakeholder Management course. My dedication to proper project close-outs, including final punch lists and close-out documents, resonates with the principles emphasized in the program's Project Integration Management module.
Furthermore, my academic background in International History & International Studies, combined with my work experience, positions me well to appreciate the relevance of the Business Ethics and CSR module, as well as the Indigenous Business Workshop. These courses resonate deeply with my values and aspirations to contribute positively to the community and society at large.
I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to apply Agile Project Management principles, learn about sustainability through the Sustainability Workshop, and engage with the diverse perspectives offered by the Indigenous Business Workshop. The comprehensive coverage of topics in the program outline mirrors my passion for effective project execution and aligns seamlessly with my career goals.
In conclusion, I believe that my work experience as a Program Officer, coupled with my academic background, will greatly enrich the learning experience in the Post Graduate Certificate in Project Management program at Cambrian College. I am confident that this program will provide me with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field of project management and contribute meaningfully to complex and dynamic projects.
Thank you for considering my application. I eagerly await the opportunity to contribute my experiences to the program and learn from the diverse perspectives of both faculty and fellow students.
Sincerely,

About DIPLOMA admission,
Yes, a diploma is a wrong Academic Progression for a Bachelor's degree holder. A Visa Officer officer will most likely frown at that, cos he will assume you just want to JAPA (Wrong Purpose of Visit to Canada). Since you have a Bachelor's degree, a Visa Officer will expect you to go for a Post Graduate Certificate or Masters (depending on your grades) in a related field to what you studied in the University (Academic Progression) or work experience even if it's not related to what you studied in the University (Career Progression).
Though some members on this platform have said that if such applicant can give cogent reasons on his/her SOP why he/she wants to go for a Diploma (as a Bachelor's degree holder) instead of a Post Graduate Certificate, then that person's study visa application might be approved.
I would suggest you await the response of the gurus on that, or some based on experience response from Bachelor's degree holder who used diploma admission to get their Study Visa Approved to Canada before you make a move.
Good luck wow! Thanks alot Lekiboboe, you've done wonderfully well! I would follow your guidance and make the best use of the cover letter you drafted for me. That would be very helpful. Thanks alot |

Lekiboboe: There is a possibility of you boosting your chances for admission based on your Work experience.
That being said, what's your Job Title and Job Duties at the National Orientation Agency? Program officer 2, National Orientation Agency, Lagos • Lead development of project scope, budget, time line, and obtained necessary ap-provals. • Collaborated with Purchasing Department on RFP development and contractor selection. • Facilitated project meetings with appropriate internal and external stakeholders. • Ensured proper close-out of all projects, including final punch list and close-out documents. I am considering applying for a diploma program but i've read here that might visa officers might find that unusual. Further advices/guidance would be appreciated particularly from those who had Third Class honours and have gained admission to a PGD program |

Hi People of God! I'm new here and I've gone through some of the previous posts. I hold a degree in International History & International Studies and have been working at the National Orientation Agency, Abuja for three years. I'm interested in pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management or Project Management at a Canadian college. However, I've faced difficulties due to my BSc grade, which is a Third Class with a GPA of 2.16. Unfortunately, I've already been declined admission by Centennial College and Georgian College. I'm reaching out to ask if anyone could suggest any colleges in Canada that might accept candidates with a Third Class honors degree for their postgraduate diploma programs. Your responses would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! |
