Well i think one of the problem is buying premium brands from the store but I ones tried tesco value coffee it tasted like wee wee.I guess i will definetly have to adjust and the is the main reason why I am upset because now there is no diff between me and others who did not even bother to futher their education in uk if at the end of the day we r both competing for value range .
you can't live large with that small salary. If you wan to live large u need to come join us in the contracting club. then u can afford all these things and save a lot as well if u want

Misleading title. IT is not programming.

The only part of IT remotely brain racking is programming and a lot of people run away from it.

networking or security is not in any way challenging thats why u see a lot of folks jumping into these areas

Even though programming is very challenging i don't think it is as hard as Medicine.

One reason could be because you can self teach yourself programming but i have never seen any self tot doctor

CFA is  not really that necessary for an ACCA qualified accountant.

ProgrammingRe: Should We Have "programmers' Conference" In Nigeria? by candylips(m): 11:58pm On Dec 29, 2010
ok then if this is going to work you will need an agenda of what speakers will talk about in a clearer form so that interested speakers can start volunteering

so you might have a topic called "Design Patterns" for example and try to get someone to make a presentation about it.

Damn where do you guys get your information from? Check major job sites and see how many positions are there daily for Oracle DBAs'. There are so many positions ut there that go unfilled. The issue is one requires experience and without it, OCP alone will do one no good. You mention tools, you need DBAs to use those tools.
am not saying there are no available jobs on the internet for DBA's all am saying is that the job of DBA's is becoming redundant.
the latest generation tools are so easy to use that a simple documentation read will get u started and you will be able to for example tune a DB, partition etc.

These are things that used to require expert knowledge.

i do agree with u that he needs experience plus OCP to even think of finding a DBA job. The only DBA jobs u are gonna see if for experienced folks unlike 5- 10 yrs ago
ProgrammingRe: Should We Have "programmers' Conference" In Nigeria? by candylips(m): 5:17pm On Dec 29, 2010
so what is the purpose of the conference.
ProgrammingRe: "oracle",is It Losing It's Demand In Today's Nigerian Labor Market? by candylips(m): 5:16pm On Dec 29, 2010
another issue is that companies tend to need only a finite number of DBAs and the work of DBAs are getting redundant this days

reason why i say this is that tools are making it easier to administer DB's without the need for a fulltime DBA

i'll advise u to go and learn a programming language and do oracle by d way side

scaling a database is very hard.

its so hard that folks like google and facebook had to come up with a new way for storing/retrieving perabytes of data.

are people still doing OCP.

programmers are finding ways of getting around the obvious limitations of databases these days
