We will like you to go through this helpful and interesting article from JarusHub. it will surely enlighten you in making and choosing the right course per se if you are in the process of doing so.

Caveat: This is not based on hard data but on observations. It is compiled by JarusHub editor and 2 other contributors to this portal. Note also that this is not based on who earns the highest salary, but who has potential to earn decent income with his degree. Potential is the operative word here.

Here we go:

1. Medicine: Medicine may not earn you N500k per month at entry level, but it is the course that guarantees you job the most. I have never come across a jobless medical doctor. The pay may not be as heavy as the Chemical engineering guy in the IOC, but you are guaranteed of better-than-average income as a doctor. Medicine is number 1 on our list.

2. Estate Management/Architecture/Building/Survey/Civil Engineering: A degree in any of these courses places you in a good position for self-employment. Even from school, Architecture students make money drawing plans for people. We consider these courses the second most marketable courses in Nigeria.

3. Chemical/Petroleum Engineering: These courses have the potential to fetch you the fattest pay check after graduation because the companies that ask for them are those that pay heavily – the oil companies

4. Geology: It is also a course that places you in good position to penetrate the much-sought-after oil industry.
https://www.jarushub.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/eng3.jpg
5. Computer Science/Computer Engineering/IT courses: IT professionals are in hot demand the world over. Nigeria is not different. With special IT skills, your chance is even brighter. The downside is, anybody can learn IT skills, even if he doesn’t study computer engineering.

6. Economics/Accounting/Finance: The good thing about Economics is that it fits into many roles. I hesitated to include Accounting here because Accounting degree alone without professional qualifications is not usually so helpful; however, I included it because I expect the accounting graduate to do the needful of writing professional examinations after his degree. Even without professional qualifications, you can still get a decent job with Accounting degree only in the many small to medium scale firms that require the services of accounting graduates. Finance is another great course. The three courses, sometimes alongside Management and Business Administration, are usually in hot demand, although supply still exceed demand and many graduates of these courses are still jobless.

Interview and Profile of A 21 year old Covenant University First Class Female Student by CareerPingger.

Name: Oputa Alma
Gender: Female
Age: 21years

School: Covenant University, Lagos-Ogun State, Nigeria
Department: Computer Science and information Science
Graduating Grade: more details below

Some people have said that the grading system in private schools is too generous and unrealistic unlike what obtains in public schools. Do you see any difference in their products?
The grading system is the same. It’s just that we pay for our comfort in private schools, which enhances our performance. Those things that could make learning very conducive and stress-free are already provided for us, and we pay for them, so we tend to do better.

For instance, some public schools pay N15,000 as tuition fee while some private schools pay up to N700,000. Whatever we pay already covers power supply, water supply, accommodation, equipped and functional laboratories, etc, and an enclosed environment where not just anything goes…

unlike in public schools where those facilities are not always readily available and the teaching and living conditions are not good enough. The attention and care we get in private schools cannot be compared to what we have in public schools. When you put all these variables together, they influence a student’s performance. With the kind of money we pay and the kind of academic environment, the difference is expected.

Am happy to post this to help my readers discover a new online platform to get qualified guide on career decision making. Career Pingger is a great website filling the needs of education and positioning the youth to be a global market product(s) in the present Nigeria .

What is Career Pingger?

It is an online career directory that goes beyond just a directory but a non-negligible tools to career decision making for youths in Nigeria and beyond.

It has a list and explanation detailing job description and opportunities for employment for most of the courses offered in the Nigerian institutions of higher learning with a view to making the student marketable in the global village. I guess quite a number will be shocked at the number of courses and career option available in Nigeria and beyond for anyone to decide on as career.

Honestly I also, am of the opinion that some courses are not marketable in the present day Nigeria, this helps the student to see before hand and not just take any course to add to the number of university student and later be adding to the statistics of the labour market whereas there are some quite silent courses that are making cool cash and presentable as a career.

Is Career Pingger only about Higher Institution Courses/Careers?

No!, it covers VOCATIONALS. A different touch of seeing beyond the normal higher institution learning into vocations where the individual can early enough decide to be self employed instead of looking for jobs as practically demonstrated in the immigration interview saga (if you don’t understand google to check the how graduates lost their lifes in battle for job interview in Nigeria).

Though still in its developmental stage with over 250 courses and still counting, it has the potentials of informing and educating an upcoming generation.

Love it, But can anyone contribute to the platform?

Yes, anyone can. If you have a story to share of your exploits in a chosen field or you have someone whose story can motivate, do well to link them to the administrators through careerpingger @ gmail. com and help to inspire a generation.

How can I visit Career Pingger Website?

To visit go to www.careerpingger.com .Please comment on your observation and suggestion for future improvement about the Career Pingger portal below this post.

NOTE: The platform is in need of sponsors/advertisers to empower us to reach-out to the new coming generations to reduce level of wrong course selection rampant in Nigeria. To become our sponsor Contact +234 7 0 6 6 0 5 2 2 8 !

Thanks!
