Car TalkWhy Your VSC/ESC Light Isn't Always A Bad ABS Pump (save ₦500k) by Carmadesimpe(op): 11:18am On Feb 24
The Scenario: You’re driving on the Abeokuta to Sagamu expressway, you hit a sharp pothole, and suddenly ding the squiggly car icon (VSC/ESC) stays on.

You go to your trusted mechanic, and his first words are: Oga, The ABS Pump is weak and it's usually the cause of it... We need to buy another one and it's cost for ₦450,000.

Stop right there.
I’m here to tell you that based on platform patterns in Nigeria, that light is often a Data Conflict, not a hardware failure.

The Causes:
- Sensor Contamination: Mud and salt air from the coast (VI/Lekki/Ajah) coat your wheel speed sensors. One corrupted signal and the system shuts down.
- The Zero-Point Shift: A pothole impact can knock your steering alignment off by a few millimeters. The car’s Safety Brain thinks you are in a permanent skid and panics.
- Voltage Drops: A weak battery causes the Stability Module to drop out during startup.

The [Carmadesimple] DIY Reset (Try this first):
Before you spend a kobo, there is a specific steering-lock procedure that can re-calibrate your Safety Brain and clear Ghost Codes.

My Goal: To move you from Mechanic Guesswork to Engineering Certainty.

Comment RESET below if you want my detailed DIY Lock-to-Lock Reset Guide sent to your PM.

Car TalkWhy Your Steering Shakes Under Acceleration (it’s Not Your Tires) by Carmadesimpe(op): 1:42pm On Jan 29
Is your acceleration losing its refinement?

There is a specific shiver that compromises a premium drive: You’re cruising fine, but the moment you demand power to overtake, the front end responds with a violent shudder. You lift your foot, and the vibration vanishes.

Most street guesses usually miss the mark:
They’ll tell you to balance your tires (A waste of time).
They’ll tell you to change engine mounts (A costly mistake).

The Engineering Reality:
This isn't a balancing issue; it’s a Torque-Load Failure within your drivetrain. While your car feels fine at a steady speed, the internal components are failing under the stress of acceleration.

The Lube Engineer’s Warning:
Ignoring this shiver is a gamble. That vibration is traveling directly into your Transmission Seals. What is a simple component replacement today can easily become a ₦250k transmission overhaul tomorrow when those seals start leaking.

How to get this done:
IF your car shudders only when you step on the gas,
THEN reply SHUDDER below.

Stop the guesswork. Protect the asset.
Car TalkRe: [proof] 2009 Kia Rio Vs. 20W-50 Myth: Carmadesimple™ Checklist Success by Carmadesimpe(op): 9:41pm On Jan 28
dru23:
But the fact remains that 10w40 high mileage Full synthetic would have been a better to clean up the kia for recovery.......

Semi synthetic 10w40 would have to be changed every 3k miles to clean out the sludge....

Meanwhile 10w40 Full synthetic high mileage would need to be change every 10k miles , To be on cautiou side Chang every 7k .. it doubles the change interval of the semi synthetic 10w40 Total.......

Facts remain that Full synthetic outweigh semi synthetic oil any Time and day...
It’s clear you’re moving the goalposts because your initial Mobil 1 argument couldn't stand up to CarMadeSimple™ logic. Now you’ve pivoted to Full Synthetic and 10,000-mile intervals.

Let’s use some engineering common sense:
You can buy the most expensive, premium bowl of Akamu in the world. If you leave it sitting in the sun for two days, does it matter how much it cost? No. It’s sour, it’s fermented, and it’s unfit for consumption.

Oil is the same. Oxidation and Thermal Stress don't care about your Full Synthetic marketing labels. In Lagos traffic, your engine is cooking the oil while the odometer isn't even moving.

The Forensic Reality:
Contradiction: You started with a brand (Mobil 1), now you’re hiding behind a category (Full Synthetic). Real Engineering focuses on Specs (API SN/SP) and Operating Conditions.
1. The Danger: Suggesting a 16,000km (10k miles) interval for an engine in a Recovery Phase is professional negligence. You’re telling a patient who just started a diet to go run a marathon.
2. Severe Service: If the car is idling for hours in traffic, that oil is working, even if the miles say zero.

At CarMadeSimple™, we don't gamble with 10,000-mile Street Myths. We stick to the physics of Severe Service. Keep the marketing; I’ll keep the engines running.
Car TalkRe: [proof] 2009 Kia Rio Vs. 20W-50 Myth: Carmadesimple™ Checklist Success by Carmadesimpe(op): 2:20pm On Jan 28
dru23:
Now looking at the Total 10w40 looks semi synthetic

Mobil 1 10w40 high mileage would have been great.. The high mileage addictives would have clean the sludge at a better interval...

Mobil 1 10w40 high mileage would have lasted roughly 7k Miles and that is 7k miles of engine cleaning compare total 10w40 that can only do 3k miles of engine and sludge cleaning

If your car has over 75k miles and you are not using high mileage oil , u are wasting money time
You’ve made a good observation regarding High Mileage additives, but at CarMadeSimple™, we prioritize Chemistry and Operating Hours over brand names and odometer guesses.

Whether it’s Mobil 1, Total or what have you, the engine’s survival in a Severe Service environment depends on the API SN standard and maintaining proper drain intervals based on engine stress, not just miles.

This Kia is in Recovery because we prioritized the correct Spec over street-level brand debates.

Logic always beats a guess.
Car Talk[proof] 2009 Kia Rio Vs. 20W-50 Myth: Carmadesimple™ Checklist Success by Carmadesimpe(op): 12:34pm On Jan 28
Hello Nairalanders,

I talk a lot about Engineering Certainty vs. Street Myths. Recently, a car owner used the CarMadeSimple™ 5-Star Engineering Checklist to verify a move he had already made for his 2009 Kia Rio.

He had already switched from the traditional 20W-50 to 10W-40, but he used our checklist to cross-reference the chemistry.

The CarMadeSimple™ Verification:
The photo he sent back (attached) shows he’s doing it right:
1. The Oil: TotalEnergies Quartz 7000. It’s a 10W-40 that carries the API SN rating. This is decades ahead of the 'thick' 20W-50 API SF oil most people are told to use.
2. The Filter: He’s using a Genuine Kia Motors filter. Most people don't realize that the bypass valve setting in a genuine filter is critical for maintaining oil pressure.

The Engineering Reality:
Many people are afraid to use the correct weight because they think Nigeria is too hot. The truth? This Kia is now better protected at high temperatures than it ever was on thick, outdated oil.

Age is just a number; Chemistry is the reality. If you are still using thick oil because your mechanic said so, you are gambling with your engine's life

Drive safe, drive simple.

Car TalkRe: When Is The Right Time To Get Your Engine Oil Drained (the Myth) by Carmadesimpe(op): 9:15am On Jan 26
Freshandfitpod:
As an engineer, I can tell you for free it depends on how many km the car have covered
Respectfully, relying solely on kilometers is an entry-level mistake.

As a Lube Engineer, I look at Operating Hours and TBN (Total Base Number) depletion. In Lagos traffic, your engine is working while your odometer is standing still. If you wait for 8,000km while idling for 4 hours(varies) daily on Third Mainland Bridge/wherever traffic you find yourself in, you aren't maintaining an engine, you're cooking it.

The odometer is a suggestion; the Severe Service condition is the reality.

Always audit the environment, not just the dash.
Car Talk[forensic Audit] Why Lifetime Gearbox Oil Is A Myth Killing Nigerian Cars by Carmadesimpe(op): 9:00am On Jan 26
As a Lube Engineer, I see a lot of Transmission Ghosts, cars that jerk, delay, or refuse to move when hot.

The most common lie told in the Nigerian car market is that transmission fluid is Lifetime Oil. Let’s look at the science:
1. Thermal Degradation: Our ambient temperature + traffic result to extreme stress. Fluid oxidizes and loses its ability to transfer power.
2. The Filter Issue: Every gearbox has a filter. If you don't change the fluid, the glitter (metal shavings) clogs that filter, and your pump starves.
3. The CVT Trap: Putting the wrong fluid in a CVT is the #1 cause of gearbox failure in Nigeria.

This Week’s Audit:
I am taking 5 vehicles in Abeokuta/Lagos for a physical Engineering Audit (Fluid analysis + Shift test). If you are outside specified location, I offer Remote Guidance to verify your VIN and give you a proper refill checklist.

DM AUDIT for Abk/Lag physicals.
DM GUIDE for remote spec verification.

Car TalkRe: The 20w-50 Myth: What You Don't Know Is Slowly Killing Your Modern Engine. by Carmadesimpe(op): 12:16pm On Jan 22
I’ve read through the comments, from the economic struggles to the my mechanic said stories. As a Lube Engineer, I’m not here to argue; I’m here to provide an Audit.

If you are using 20W-50 in a car built after 2005 because Nigeria is hot or money is tight, you aren't actually saving money. You are paying a Secret Tax.

1. The Petrol Tax (Fuel Economy)
Thick oil like 20W-50 is like trying to swim through honey. Your engine has to work 3x harder to pump that akamu through its tiny oil passages.

The Math: Using 20W-50 typically reduces fuel efficiency by 3–5%.
The Result: At current petrol prices, if you spend ₦100,000 on fuel a month, you are wasting ₦5,000 extra just because your oil is too thick. Over 6 months, that's ₦30,000,more than the cost of a premium synthetic oil change!

2. The VVT Death Sentence
Modern engines (Toyota VVT-i, Honda VTEC, etc.) use oil as a hydraulic fluid to move engine parts. 20W-50 is too thick to enter those microscopic holes.

The Result: Your check engine light comes on, your fuel consumption sky-rockets, and eventually, the engine knocks.

3. The Nigeria is Hot Fallacy
Your engine operates at 90°C to 105°C regardless of whether you are in Lagos or London. The cooling system regulates the heat. 5W-30 is designed to protect at those internal temperatures. 20W-50 only adds friction, which creates more heat.

The CarMadeSimple Verdict:
If your engine is already dying and smoking, use 20W-50 to buy time. But if your engine is healthy, Synthetic 5W-30 is Insurance.

Poverty is real, but a ₦1.5M engine replacement is much more expensive than a ₦50k oil change.

Stop managing. Start auditing. 🛡️
Car TalkWhen Is The Right Time To Get Your Engine Oil Drained (the Myth) by Carmadesimpe(op): 11:18am On Jan 22
Most of what we are told at the mechanic workshop is Street Logic, not Engineering Certainty. Let’s correct three major errors I see in the Nigerian car scene:

1. The Color Fallacy:
People rush to me saying, Oga, the oil is black!
Good! That means the detergents are working. Modern oil is a scavenger. If it doesn't turn black, it means the carbon is clogging your VVT solenoids and piston rings.

2. The Cold Drain Error:
Draining cold oil is an engineering sin. Cold oil is thick and lazy, it leaves behind 15% of the old debris. We drain WARM to ensure a total flush.

3. The Traffic Factor:
Nigeria is a Severe Service environment.
If you use Full Synthetic (API SN/SP), you don't need to change it at 5,000km. You can safely go to 8,000km. We only pull it early to account for the Idling Hours in our legendary traffic.

Stop guessing. Start auditing. Your engine is an investment, not a lab rat. 🛡️🧪

Car TalkHow To Spot Fake Or Outdated Oil In 10 Seconds (the Donut Rule) by Carmadesimpe(op): 11:30am On Jan 21
Greetings to all car owners,

The Nigerian market is flooded with oil that looks premium but is actually poison for modern VVT engines.
Forget the brand. Flip the bottle. Look for the API SERVICE symbol.

The Modern Test:
If your car is post-2010, you need API SP or SN Plus. These grades handle the heat and sludge that favorite 20w-50 cannot.

Using an SJ or SL rated oil (which you find in most cheap gallons) in a modern precision engine is like giving a baby hard Eba. It’s too heavy, lacks the right detergents, and will eventually clog your catalytic converter and oil strainer.

If the bottle doesn't have a clear, verifiable API Donut, it is a gamble. Your engine is an investment, not a lab rat.

Engineering Certainty over Guesswork.

Car TalkThe 20w-50 Myth: What You Don't Know Is Slowly Killing Your Modern Engine. by Carmadesimpe(op): 2:05pm On Jan 19
There is a dangerous tradition in the Nigerian car market that needs to be addressed with Engineering Certainty. As a Lube Engineer, I’ve observed that 80% of Engine Knocks are not caused by bad luck or proper maintenance, but by Chemical Violation.

The Akamu Analogy:
When a manufacturer specifies 0w-20 or 5w-30, they are talking about the Flow Rate required to lubricate the top of your engine in less than 1 second. When you use 20w-50, you are essentially trying to pump Akamu through a needle.

Why is 20w-50 so popular?
Ignorance: Most road-side technicians are still using 1980s logic for modern engines.
Cost: It’s the cheapest fluid on the shelf.
Sound: It hides the tapping sounds of a worn engine, giving you a false sense of security.

The Reality:
Your Oil Cap is the Bible of your engine. If it says 5w-30, that is the ONLY grade that can safely navigate the microscopic clearances of your VVT system.

The Nigerian sun is hot, but your engine's internal operating temperature is the same everywhere in the world. Engineering doesn't care about your feelings or the weather.

Stop paying for Cheap advice that leads to Expensive repairs.

Car TalkLexus ES 350 Pricing (2026): Why Price Is Lying To You by Carmadesimpe(op): 12:19pm On Jan 16
I’ve spent the week auditing 2008 Lexus ES 350s both online and offline. The price disparity is wild, so I’m bringing the Engineering & Financial Truth to this forum.

The Landing Math (January 2026 @ ₦1,450/$ Customs Rate):
1. Grade A (Perfect): Lands at ₦15.9M. (Auction: ₦8.7M + Shipping/Duty: ₦7.2M).
2. Grade B (Standard): Lands at ₦13.2M. (Auction: ₦5.8M + Shipping/Duty: ₦7.4M).
3. Grade C (Salvage/Trap): Lands at ₦11.7M. (Auction: ₦3.6M + Shipping/Duty/Repairs: ₦8.1M).

The Question: If a Clean Tokunbo is listed for ₦8.5M, how did it get here?

The math says it's impossible unless:
1. The Customs Duty is fake/undervalued (Impoundment risk).
2. The Engine is Mayo (₦2.2M replacement).
3. The Chassis was a total wreck rebuilt by Alfa(the outstanding panel beater).

The CC/RC Verdict:
Stop looking at the price tag and start looking at the Forensics. I provide a 5-Star Engineering Audit and a Document Legality Check. I tell you if the ₦15M car is actually a ₦15M car, or if the ₦8M car is a ₦4M liability.

OkanlawonB:
TPMS sensor is another sensor too many.
I hear you clearly. To many, it feels like cars are becoming over-complicated with electronics.

But here’s it, That one sensor too many is actually a Financial Guardrail.

In our terrain, you can pick up a slow puncture at 2:00 PM and not notice it visually until 6:00 PM the next day when the sidewall is already shredded.

By then, you aren't just buying a ₦1000 patch; you're buying a ₦250,000 tire(premium set)/ ₦75,000 tire (sub-standard)/ ₦35,000 tire (Tokunbo) per one of the mentioned prices.

The sensor is there to give you the 10-minute headstart you need to save the tire and protect your suspension. It's not just another sensor, it's the only thing standing between a small fix and a major expressway blowout.

Engineering Certainty beats managing it every time.
Car TalkYellow Horseshoe Mystery: Why Your Car Is Crying For Help (TPMS 101) ️ by Carmadesimpe(op): 10:07am On Jan 13
I see too many cars driving with the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) light on. When I ask the owner, they say Ah, it’s just the sensor, the tire is okay.

Let me tell you why that logic is dangerous.
Your car’s ECU (Brainbox) uses that light to warn you about Pressure Differential. Even if the tire looks round to your eyes, if it’s 5 PSI lower than the others, your car is unbalanced.

1. The Fuel Trap: Your engine works harder. Period.
2. The Inner Tread Secret: Often, the tire looks fine from the outside, but a slow puncture is eating the inner tread where you can't see it.
3. The Sensor Myth: Even if the sensor is bad, fix it. Why? Because the day you actually have a real puncture at 100km/h, you won't know until it's too late.

Have you always wondered your car picked a nail on the road but you can't tell not until after few days of inflating that particular tire/in the process of washing your car yourself before discovering or concluding there's a problem with the tire?

Don't ignore the electronics your car uses to keep you alive.

I’ve dropped a Free 5-Point Audit Checklist in my signature below. It covers more than just tires, it covers the Engineering Certainty every owner needs. Check it out.

Car TalkRe: What You Aren't Checking Might Be Killing Your Engine. by Carmadesimpe(op): 12:18pm On Jan 12
JuanDeDios:
I have a question. Is it a good idea to remove the thermostat from your car?
That is a major Engineering Sin.
Removing the thermostat is a shortcut that leads to a long-term engine funeral.

Your engine is designed to operate at a specific Optimal Temperature. Without a thermostat, the engine stays too cold for too long. This causes:
1. Sludge Build-up: Oil doesn't reach the temp needed to flow properly.
2. High Fuel Consumption: The ECU(brainbox) thinks the engine is still cold and keeps dumping extra fuel.
3. Accelerated Wear: Parts don't expand to their intended fit.

If your car is overheating, fix the cooling system (radiator, fan, or pump). Don't castrate the engine by removing the thermostat.

I see it every day at the workshop. A man spends ₦22M on a Clean Lexus, but 4 months later, the front tires are bald on the inside.

Most mechanics will tell you to just do alignment. They are wrong.

Alignment is the result. The cause is usually a collapsed bushing or a bent control arm from one bad hit on a pothole. As a Road Calibrator, I look at the Camber stance. If your car is scrubbing the road instead of rolling, you are literally burning money.

Car TalkWhy Your Brand New/tokunbo Suspension Is Knocking by Carmadesimpe(op): 11:19am On Jan 08
It’s Driveway Audit Thursday. 🛠️

Most drivers on this forum think tire pressure is just about pumping the rubber. NO, There's more to it.

The Problem:
You go to the vulcanizer and he tells you Oga, 45-50 is the standard. No, it’s not.

The Sticker vs. Sidewall Debate:
Check your tire. It might say Max Press 51 PSI. Now open your driver’s door. The sticker probably says 32 or 33 PSI.

The Concierge Verdict:
The tire manufacturer makes that tire for a thousand different cars. They list the Max Press as a safety limit so the tire doesn't explode. They don't know the weight of your Lexus/Sienna.

The car manufacturer (Toyota, Opel, BMW, Innoson, etc.) spent millions tuning your suspension for the number on that Door Sticker.

Why This Matters for Nigerian Roads:
1. The Stone Effect: When you over-inflate, the tire loses its ability to flex. Every vibration from our wonderful potholes goes directly into your ball joints and bushings. You are literally vibrating your suspension to death.
2. The Drag Effect: Under-inflation creates rolling resistance. You burn more fuel and your alignment shifts.

The Only Exception:
If you have modified your car with significantly larger off-road tires or different load-index tires, the sticker rule changes. But for a standard factory setup, the door sticker is the law.

A 2-minute check in your driveway today saves you a ₦150,000 suspension overhaul tomorrow.

Are you following the sticker or the vulcanizer’s spirit? Let’s discuss below. 🛠️

Car TalkWhat You Aren't Checking Might Be Killing Your Engine. by Carmadesimpe(op): 10:13am On Jan 07
I’m noticing the harmattan haze shifting. Light here in Abeokuta and heavy in some states.

As a Lube Engineer and your Car Concierge, I want to address a part 90% of drivers ignore: The Air Filter.

Most people think servicing is just oil and oil filters. They forget the engine breathes air.

Why you should care:
1. Fuel Consumption: A clogged filter is like running a marathon with a mask on. Your engine works 10% harder and burns 10% more fuel.
2. Engine Longevity: Harmattan dust is fine silt. If the filter is full, that silt goes into your combustion chamber and scratches your cylinder walls. This is the silent killer that leads to smoky engines and thousands/millions of engine swaps.

Where to find it (DIY):
You don't need a mechanic for this.
1. Open your hood.
2. Locate a black plastic housing/box usually located to the left or right of the engine.
3. Snap off the metal clips (or unscrew it).
4. Lift the filter out. If it’s filled with sand or is dark gray/black, it’s dead. Replace it with a genuine OEM part immediately.

In 2026, we are spending less time at the mechanic and more time enjoying the drive. That starts with Engineering Certainty.

Car TalkWhy Your ABS Light Is Actually A Warning About Your Suspension (engineering Insi by Carmadesimpe(op): 5:50pm On Jan 06
It’s #DashboardTuesday, and today we are looking at the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) Mystery.

Most drivers see this light and think their brakes are about to fail. As a Lube Engineer and your Car Concierge, I’m here to tell you that the light is often telling a story about the underside of your car.

1. The Pothole Effect
Our roads are tough. A wheel speed sensor is a delicate electronic component. When you hit a deep pothole, the physical shock can misalign the sensor or the tone ring. You think you need brake pads, but you actually have a suspension alignment issue.

2. The After-Mechanic Syndrome
I see this often. A car goes in for shocks or wheel bearings or brake pads change and comes out with an ABS light. Why? Because the technician didn't handle the sensor wiring with care. As a Concierge, I ensure every job is handled with engineering precision, not just force.

3. Fluid Contamination
ABS pumps have tiny valves. If your brake fluid is old (dark/cloudy), moisture builds up. This moisture can cause the ABS pump to fail or throw a code.

The Bottom Line:
Your car will still stop, but you lose the anti-lock safety feature. In an emergency on a sandy or wet road, you will skid.

Stop paying rewires to just clear codes. Find the root cause.

AutosWhy You Should Stop Buying Headaches –the Carmadesimple Concierge Is Here by Carmadesimpe(op): 11:05am On Jan 05
After 7 years as a Lube Engineer, I’ve seen too many good people lose hard-earned money to bad cars and even worse maintenance.

Most people buy a car and inherit a headache. I’m here to end that.

At Carmadesimple, we are redefining the car-buying journey. I am stepping in as your Car Concierge. I’m not just a dealer; I’m an engineer using my technical background to hand-pick vehicles that actually stay on the road.

Whether you are looking for a Tokunbo, a Nigerian-used gem, or a brand-new Nigerian made cars, I do the dirty work so you don't have to. While others look at the paint, I’m looking at the:
1. Oil pressure and engine health
2. Suspension and Camber
3. Long-term reliability of the model

You get the keys; I’ve already handled the certainty.
2026 is the year we spend less time at the mechanic and more time enjoying the drive.

Welcome to the new standard.
Drive safe, drive simple.

Car TalkRe: Simple Car Problems You Can Diagnose Yourself (before Going To Any Mechanic) by Carmadesimpe(op): 11:04am On Dec 15, 2025
Akinfrank:
Make Una help me o, my car actually compressor dey do on and off, I see am for engine bay say when I dey feel cool air inside car d compressor dey spin, when e no spin ma ordinary air go dey inside car. What is causing my compressor to randomly shut off and restart itself at intervals?
The symptoms could either be any of these and strongly suggest an issue with system pressure.

Low Refrigerant (Primary Suspect): The system likely has a leak and is severely undercharged. The low-pressure safety switch is engaging, causing the compressor to rapidly cycle on and off (short-cycling) to protect itself, resulting in poor cooling and intermittent bursts of air.

Faulty Switch/Clutch (Secondary Suspect): Even if the refrigerant is correct, a malfunctioning low-pressure switch or a failure in the compressor's internal thermal protection/clutch mechanism could be incorrectly signaling the compressor to shut down and restart, causing the random cycling.

Diagnosis requires checking the system for leaks and measuring the high and low-side pressures.

The most crucial step is to have a mechanic measure the system pressures (both high-side and low-side) while the system is attempting to run. This will immediately confirm if the system is low on refrigerant (which is highly probable) or if there is an issue with the pressure switches or a serious internal blockage.

Tell the mechanic:
My AC compressor is randomly shutting off and restarting at intervals (short-cycling), which prevents continuous cooling.
1. Please test both the high-side and low-side pressures while the car is running to confirm if it is low on refrigerant or if it is over-pressurizing.
2. If the pressures are low, find and repair the leak before recharging.
3. If the pressures are normal, please test the pressure switches and inspect the compressor clutch for signs of slipping or overheating.

This's focused on solving the intermittent cycling, as that is the root of the problem.
Car TalkPopular Car Maintenance Advice That Isn’t Always True by Carmadesimpe(op): 12:29pm On Dec 13, 2025
There’s a lot of car maintenance advice that sounds correct, but when you look closely, it doesn’t always apply and sometimes it makes owners spend more than necessary.

This isn’t about blaming mechanics or anyone.
It’s just about understanding what actually matters and what doesn’t.

1. You Must Service Your Car Every 3 Months

Service intervals depend on:
– engine type
– oil quality
– driving conditions
– manufacturer recommendation
Some cars can safely go 7,000–10,000 km with the right oil and proper driving habits.
NB: (PDH - PROPER DRIVING HABITS)

2. Once Engine Oil Turns Black, It Must Be Changed

Engine oil darkening is normal.
It means the oil is cleaning the engine.

What matters more is:
– mileage covered
– oil grade
– engine condition
Color alone is not a reliable indicator.

3. Automatic Gearboxes Don’t Really Need Oil Change

This advice has damaged many gearboxes.
Automatic transmission fluid breaks down due to heat and time.
Regular fluid change helps extend gearbox life significantly.

4. High RPM Is Always Bad for the Engine

Occasional high RPM within manufacturer limits is normal.
What actually causes more stress is driving at very low RPM under heavy load.

5. Tokunbo Cars Are Always Better Than Nigerian Used

Condition matters more than origin.
A properly maintained Nigerian-used car can be more reliable than a poorly maintained imported salvage one.

6. Fuel Additives Fix Engine Problems

Additives can help in mild cleaning cases.
They won’t fix worn engines, bad sensors, or mechanical failures.

Understanding these points helps car owners make better decisions and avoid unnecessary repairs.

If there’s any car maintenance advice you’ve heard that sounds confusing or questionable, feel free to drop it here and let’s discuss it logically.
