The two good schools let you upload your documents ONLY for admission purpose. So, it's worth trying.

Wrote my GRE 29th February got a 310, TOEFL 106, great CGPA...chose Texas A&M college station, LSU, Uni of Oklahoma and U. Of Louisiana Lafayette plan to start mailing professors about RA/GA positions but then to spread my options because the schools I chose are competitive and my GRE score isn't much there...I need suggestions for good schools with great funding for M.sc General geology or petroleum Geoscience...Thanks.

I thought their application ended on the 8th cos I wanted the 2 of them however, I used my GTBank master card on that portal for NAU and it went through, you just select the credit card option and you put your card number with day cw2 at d back as password or something... Have anyone successfully applied and paid application fees to schools like University of Oklahoma and University of Houston application system that use "Applyweb" portal. I started an application on those schools and till date I can't make payment using my visa card. The error message is " ADDRESS VERIFICATION MISMATCH. The Billing Address did not match that of the cardholder. Please correct". Anyone experiencing the same problem and how did you go about it.

Yes. There is relaxation for that. They are only interested in quant. and verbal scores.Moreso, a TOEFL score of more than 25 in writing section can substitute for that. After all, I am not going for journalism or sociology.

Thought there AWA requirement is 4.0

Yes bro. The university was having issues with contract visa issuance due to falling oil prices. Even, those that submitted before me are still waiting like me. So, everything happens for a reason. I finally got approval this January.

In as much as I'm not disputing ur fact, I can categorically tell u they go thru statement of purpose. Don't make it sound like it's one person that goes thru the essays their are statements that are eye catching in any essay. They don't have to read word for word.
Are u aware the process is contracted out?

Ur application is gonna be glamorous... A tip for everyone... It's nt all about scores.. They always have preference for relevant experience particularly research... Atleast 2 professors I sent inquiry where quick to point fingers at my CV nt even my GPA and scores cos probably enough people have it buh cv if tweaked perfectly is the key

personally I'll suggest mangoosh premium + ets official guide & practice question sets as you will get all the logic you need there however depending on your schedule you can add more books cos in the end the more you practice the better ...

$75 waived and I can submit official transcript and gre later... There is room to upload unofficial documents pending the time of processing... I just need to provide the official documents before I resume(if I get it ofcourse)...

Mine was Rensselaer polytechnic Institute, Top 50 in research in USA, the average gre score dy even admit is about 325 buh then their geoscience is nt up there, buh since I can send my documents after admission I'll just Dance to their tune for now. Be mindful of schools who contact you. Great to average schools rarely scout for students. At the end of the day, what really matters are - the quality of the curriculum,available funding as well as on campus work opportunities. The international composition of the school also matter greatly. An average, above average as well as great school usually have a well balanced composition of students. In these schools, you would get the opportunity of interacting with real americans. This is a great plus and you wouldnt know how invaluable it is untill you arrive.

I currently study at a below average university. Its filled with international students - mostly indians and The professors are mostly internationals as well. On campus work opportunities and funding opportunities are pretty slim. To be honest, it doesnt feel like am in the us. Would i attend this university if i had a second chance? Hell No.

So, in essence, be mindful of schools that contact you. Before committing to attend any university, do your research very well.

Got accepted to the Computer Science PhD program with a
Graduate Teaching Assistantship that covers full tuition, health insurance and some stipends.
They fund MS students too. The program is in the US top 100 but not high ranked (#90).
Just that their priority funding deadline is mostly Januar.
Downside is the location, closest big cities for jobs are Chicago, St. Louis and Kansas City, Missouri.

Take note @bolded, 95%of schools has first week January deadline for funding consideration... If u are applying for fall u gats push button fast

I think I also pointed this earlier, I think he meant prepare for different scenarios example prepare a school incase you score 280 ... It's good to bliv u can get everything buh their is a lot of sense in plan B, I went into the exam with 6 schools with their average score ranging from 290 to 320 wen my score cane 306 I started calculating my chances from my scores point of view and was able to submit 4 feasible schools from the he scores point of view although one slot wasted because one required English test a fact I had ignored throughout
Ensure you check all the requirements, I assumed they will all waive English test for Nigeria buh UH said no

Would be glad if you can elaborate on the bolded to aid some applicants on the areas to seek for more info from the schools. Truth is most are caught up in the test preparation that they've little or no time for this intensive research before the test and discover the obstacles during the application processes. Some info can't also be gotten via the school's site. Thanks.

Something happened to me, a school messaged me d day I got my official scores, said dy saw blah blah blah... Was really confused cos my score ain't super, buh den someone once told me dat schools too Scout for candidates too ... Did anyone have d similar experience... The school even waived application fee and I can submit official documents later if admission come through... I checked faqs on gre site and found:

not necessarily topic related but would help..... Couldn't get a December date for toefl but contacted the schs I intend to apply (2 in US and 1 in Canada). found out that toefl is waived in 1 of the US sch and the Canada sch for accredited Nigerian universities. They assured me to complete the registration without toefl. For funding it's best you complete your registration before the year runs outs (my opinion). any other opinion is welcomed. I also want to learn more

Nt all schools require test of English from Nigeria buh most of the top schools do and as for Canada gre or toefl is nt required mostly buh if you have a good gre score it's an added advantage to your application... and I don't think ppl know schooling in canada (Research msc) is fully funded... The challenge is just getting in which is very very very tough for Africans as Asia is preferred and they consider the school you had your first degree

Na English test wn do me strong thing cos admissions deadlines are not realistic if I even register today, I think that is bye bye Houston..i dn port to another school @Cephas0009 .. And I don't think 300 upward will have admission issue ( except ofcourse u don't want to settle for less that a top top school) buh den getting funded is really tight tho wen I remember my friend dat got their without gre or toefl I dy get hope

Funny thing was I had completed my AWA section and progressed to the verbal section, while some were still observing AWA. I couldn't focus at all with the noise. Then the examiners were communicating with the dude beside me who had a problem with his system. I was furious! I just kept looking for lead words & clicking through lol..

If I don't make it for fall (things are looking pretty bleak, but still looking up to God,) I'll rewrite & try to improve tremendously on my current scores.

Hello house, sorry I haven't been able to recount my exam day experience. Have been abit busy. Well here goes.

You can only do as well in the GRE as u do in the practice question. It's really no flunk. If u score 280 in powerprep then you could most likely score 280 in the real thing.

I couldn't sleep through the night preceding the GRE day, I kept thinking how the cookie would crumble, if I flunk the GRE. I also decided not to study further so as to keep things simple. Exam day I got to my centre early, fine gals everywhere, felt like all the fine gals in abj are all moving to the US. We Gilles out the necessary forms, and waived our rights to ***. I was still be registered in the hall when I heard keyboard typing away, and shunks meaning these people that got registered before already hitting their essays, I was shocked because I was hoping we did all start same time.

Well, I settled down after the initial scare, did my essays in good time, then drove into the verbal session, hmmmm guys Wetin I see ehh, questions hard like Wetin. I say ok maybe na experimental session. I enter quant, it was even tougher. I say ok it's better for this quant is to experimental. Apparently I went through all my sessions and the all felt foreign. Bros GRE no be beans. I prepared in 1 mnth and 2 weeks. I wasn't ready, needed more time. Please if u are not very comfortable in the practice tests in magoosh or powerprep, don't register for the GRE yet. Somehow those test especially the hard sessions are a true mirror of the real thing.
