Car TalkSix Ways You Could Be Killing Your Car!!! by CastroLubeNg(op): 12:16pm On Mar 17, 2017
Hello Friends, did you know that owning a car can be a dream or a nightmare depending on how well you take care of your vehicle...as a matter of fact, the following are six things that many motorists do that can harm their car and their wallet. Check it out cheesy

# Ignoring the check engine light.
Ignoring an illuminated check engine light can result in serious engine trouble and costly repairs. At the very least, this warning light could alert you to an engine problem that is negatively impacting fuel economy.

# Failing to change fluids and filters.
Many fluids are required for the operation and protection of vehicle systems and components. Checking fluid levels regularly, along with the filters, helps ensure that your vehicle runs dependably and extends vehicle life.

# Neglecting your tires.
Your vehicle’s tires should be checked frequently for inflation and tread depth. Underinflated tires can wear out more quickly, needing to be replaced sooner, and can negatively impact safety, gas mileage and performance.

# Not following a service schedule. Because many car parts and components wear out or become damaged over time, vehicles need to be routinely serviced in order to perform optimally. Routine inspections and timely repairs will help keep your car running efficiently and will help you avoid more expensive repairs down the road.

# Keeping a dirty car. Allowing your car to go too long without a wash leads to buildup of damaging chemicals and dirt, increases the potential for rust from road salt and interferes with proper visibility needed for safe driving.

# Being a severe driver. Whether it’s stop-and-go traffic, extreme weather, rough roads or heavy loads, it can sometimes be difficult to limit severe driving conditions. However, you can drive smart and improve fuel economy by observing the speed limit; avoiding aggressive driving, including quick starts and stops; not hauling unnecessary items; and keeping your vehicle properly tuned.

“Because auto care isn’t always a top priority for car owners, they might not realize they are doing things that adversely affect the performance, safety and value of their car. “Routine maintenance can go a long way toward saving money, avoiding headaches and protecting your vehicle investment.”
Have a fabulous Weekend.

Car TalkLights Out? Check Vehicle Lighting by CastroLubeNg(op): 5:15pm On Dec 19, 2016
Fall is here and its arrival means fewer hours of daylight and upcoming holiday travel. Before hitting the road, it is a wise idea to make sure your vehicle’s lights are in proper working order.

“Lights play a critical role in safe driving, as the chance of an accident increases if you can’t see or be seen,”. “From the driver’s seat you may not notice a light that isn’t working, so inspect all of your car’s lights and replace those that are out.”

Lights are normal wear items that require periodic inspection and replacement. The vehicle lighting system provides nighttime visibility; signals and alerts other drivers; and supplies light for viewing instruments and the vehicle’s interior. In addition to replacing dimming, rapidly blinking and non-functioning lights, the following tips can help keep you safe:

Keep headlights, tail lights and signal lights clean. External dirt and debris can dim operational lights from being seen by others.
Make sure that your headlights are properly aimed. Mis-aimed headlights blind other drivers and reduce your ability to see the road.
If there is any doubt on whether or not your headlights should be on, turn them on. Lights not only help you see better in early twilight, they also make it easier for other drivers to see you.

Don’t overdrive your headlights; you should be able to stop inside the illuminated area, otherwise you are creating a blind crash area in front of your vehicle.

“Some states have laws that require the headlights to be on with the wipers,” said White. “Keeping your vehicle’s lights properly cared for and replacing wiper blades periodically will help ensure a safer ride, keeping the road ahead well-lit and giving you a clear view.”

Car TalkHow To Protect Your Car’s Interior by CastroLubeNg(op): 11:41am On Dec 13, 2016
Have you tried to add up the hours you spend in your car... It’s a lot, isn’t it? Commutes, errand runs and road trips can have you sitting in those bucket seats for hours on end, and during that time, you and your passengers are actually living in the interior. That means smudges on the windows, scratches on the dash and food in the seat crevices accumulate and leave you wondering what happened to the spotless interior you swear it had when you first bought the car.

A Quick Clean
Luckily, it’s not that difficult to keep a car’s cabin from looking a little too, well, lived in. First things first, get something to stuff your trash into. Just use a plastic bag or a container you don’t use around the house and throw it in the backseat. You can even affix a temporary hook to the door or seat to keep things even neater. Every once and awhile, take it out and relish in the fact that you haven’t spent an hour cleaning up. Keeping trash off the floor also preserves your carpets, which can get stained from any number of items.

The idea of taking a rag to your dash and leather seats is made easier if you have them on-hand. The key here is to just use a little bit of soapy water to wipe the surfaces of your car – some cleaning products contain alcohols that prematurely dry and age the materials by reducing the flexibility in the vinyl. Store a small spray bottle of your homemade cleaning fluid and a rag under your seat or in a storage bin for access when you’re waiting for your kids to get out of school or sitting in that crazy-long drive-through line. This will also come in handy when an emergency spill happens. Lastly, keep your car smelling like roses (or at least a laundromat) by adding dryer sheets under the seats.

Weather Resistant
You can’t discount the impact weather has on your vehicle either. In summer, sandy feet can quickly make a mess of an interior, and dare we mention the destruction caused by mud and snow? If you spend a lot of time ducking in and out of the elements, you might want to grab some all-weather floor mats. They’re easy to clean and do a great job of keeping the muck in one place.

The sun’s rays can also wreak havoc on your car’s surfaces, causing vinyl to crack over time and materials to fade. A simple solution is to regularly put a sunshade on the windshield. They’re inexpensive and help to keep your interior looking new.

Saving money on repair work and cleaning comes more easily when you take the time to make preventative care a priority. Not only will these tricks make your car a nicer place to be, keeping grime out of your ride will cut down on large maintenance costs in the future and will help to retain its value over time.

Time spent looking after your Car can save you a lot!!!

AutosFive Steps Towards Better Battery Behavior by CastroLubeNg(op): 5:07pm On Nov 14, 2016
Here’s hot news about your car battery that may seem surprising: It’s not so much the cold that gets it down as it is high heat. Heat causes battery fluid to evaporate, thus damaging the internal structure of the battery. That’s why it’s a good idea to check your battery as the seasons change from hotter to cooler or if you’ve been driving in a hot part of the country.
Battery Batterers
Another reason for shortened battery life is overcharging. That is, a malfunctioning component in the charging system, usually the voltage regulator, can allow too high a charging rate, leading to slow death for a battery, explained Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council.
In addition, colder temperatures can increase the thickness of the engine oil, making the engine harder to turn over, causing the battery to have to work more. These factors lead to harder starting.
What You Can Do
To get the most life out of a battery, the Car Care Council suggests the following simple steps:
• Be sure the electrical system is charging at the correct rate; overcharging can damage a battery as quickly as undercharging.
• If your battery is the type that needs to be topped off, check it regularly. Add distilled water when necessary.
• Always replace a battery with one that’s rated at least as high as the one originally specified.
• Have the battery checked if you notice headlights and interior lights dim, accessories that fail to operate, or the “check engine” or battery light illuminated.
• Keep the top of the battery clean. Dirt becomes a conductor, which drains battery power. Further, as corrosion accumulates on battery terminals, it becomes an insulator, inhibiting current flow.

How much is the air filter and airflow sensors of a Toyota Rav4 1997 model?
Car TalkKeep Your Car Breathing Well: Change The Air Filters by CastroLubeNg(op): 12:41pm On Oct 31, 2016
You need clean air to breathe and so does your car, and a vehicle’s air filters make that possible. Car owners should have the engine and cabin air filters inspected and changed regularly to ensure vehicle longevity and interior comfort.

“Air filters are your vehicle’s first line of defense against contaminants that reduce cabin air quality and negatively impact engine performance,”. All vehicles is in need of air filter replacement, so it’s evident that motorists often overlook this simple, yet important service.”

The vehicle’s engine air filter traps dirt particles that can cause damage to engine cylinders, cylinder walls, pistons, piston rings and bearings, leading to the engine losing power. The air filter also plays a critical role in keeping pollutants from contaminating the airflow sensor on fuel-injected cars. A normal wear item that requires regular checks and replacement, air filters should be inspected at each oil change and replaced annually or when showing other signs of contamination.

The cabin air filter is responsible for cleaning the air entering the passenger compartment. Under normal circumstances, it helps trap pollen, bacteria, dust and exhaust gases that may find their way into a vehicle’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, compromising interior air quality and damaging the system. Most cabin air filters are accessed through the panel in the HVAC housing, which may be under the hood or placed within the interior of the vehicle. A cabin air filter should not be cleaned and reinstalled. Instead, it should be replaced every 12,000 to 15,000 miles or per the owner’s manual.

Car TalkCar Maintenance Checklist by CastroLubeNg(op): 12:31pm On Oct 31, 2016
Car care Check-list

Car TalkFour_symptoms_of_a_sick_cooling_system by CastroLubeNg(op): 3:44pm On Oct 25, 2016
“Neglecting your cooling system can result in serious damage and even complete engine failure, which would put a sudden end to your summer road trip,” said Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council. “If the cooling system doesn’t receive regular maintenance, it’s not a question of whether it will fail, but rather when it will fail. Performing regular checkups of belts, hoses, the water pump and fluids will ensure your car remains properly cooled and healthy for many miles down the road.”

The primary job of the engine’s cooling system is to remove the heat that is generated during the combustion process. The coolant temperature can be well over 200 degrees and that heat has to go somewhere, otherwise engine components are going to start failing. The key parts of the cooling system remove the heat from the engine and automatic transmission and dispel it to the air outside. The water pump circulates coolant through the engine. The coolant absorbs heat and returns it to the radiator where heat is dissipated. The thermostat regulates the coolant temperature to keep it consistent for efficient engine operation.

A major factor that affects the replacement of cooling system parts is the frequency of regular maintenance, such as coolant changes. Motorists should consult their owner’s manual for specific recommendations about how often to change antifreeze and flush the coolant system. A coolant flush and fill is basic to cooling system maintenance as new antifreeze helps the engine run cooler and a flush removes dirt or sediment that could damage other cooling system parts.

With the hot summer temperatures on the rise, knowing the symptoms of a sick cooling system are critical to your summer driving plans, since cooling system failure is a leading cause of vehicle breakdowns. The most noticeable symptoms are overheating, leaks, a sweet smell of antifreeze and repeatedly needing to add coolant.

The coolant level should be checked regularly at the reservoir and motorists are reminded to NEVER open a hot radiator cap. If the coolant is low, a 50/50 mix of approved antifreeze and distilled water should be added.
Motorists can also do a visual inspection of hoses, belts and the radiator to help identify cooling system problems before they escalate. Radiator leaks, bulging hoses or frayed and cracked belts are clues that the cooling system is in need of maintenance.

Additional signs of cooling system problems include the vehicle temperature gauge rising near the danger zone, coolant leaks, steam or hissing sounds under the hood or the district smell of an engine that’s running hot.

AutosWhy Does An Oil Need To Be Strong? by CastroLubeNg(op): 3:20pm On Oct 16, 2016
Today’s technology has allowed car manufacturers to produce smaller, yet more powerful and efficient engines. The aim is to deliver increased fuel economy, reduced emissions and high performance. Downsizing, turbocharging and advanced engine designs have now almost doubled engine pressures causing more stress on the oil. The oil is now operating under higher temperatures and stress, in some areas withstanding pressures in excess of 10,000kg per square centimetre.

Under such pressures, the only thing standing between metal surfaces is the oil. That's why an oil needs to be strong and stay strong. And that goes for every drive, every start, every valve rotation, every time you put your foot on the accelerator. You need to have the best engine oil.

Car TalkHow To Read Traffic Signs: Recognizing Shapes And Colors by CastroLubeNg(op): 4:49pm On Oct 14, 2016
Traffic signs come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. With so many different traffic signs on the road, you might lose track of what each one means. Fortunately, the shapes and colors of traffic signs can help you understand their meaning.

Traffic sign colors can clue you into what you might need to do on the road.
# Red. Almost always, red means stop! A red traffic sign either signals you to stop your vehicle or prohibits entry.
# Green: Green means go! A green traffic sign signals that you can proceed, or provides you with direction on where to proceed.
# Yellow: Yellow stands for caution. A yellow traffic sign serves as a general warning.
# Black and White: Black and white traffic signs provide posted regulations (i.e., speed limits).
# Orange: Orange signals construction time! If you see an orange traffic sign, you will likely encounter construction or road maintenance ahead.
# Brown: Brown traffic signs reference local recreation areas or scenic points of interest.
# Blue: Blue stands for guidance. Blue traffic signs often offer information to assist motorists.

Traffic Sign Shape Tips
The shape of a traffic sign can often signal its meaning. For example:
# An octagon signals the need to stop.
# An upside down triangle always means “yield.”
# A diamond always warns of possible hazards ahead.
# Pennant-shaped traffic signs serve as advanced warning of no passing zones.
# Round stands for railroad. When you see a round traffic sign, you will likely see a railroad crossing.
# A pentagon signals a school zone ahead or a school crossing zone.
# Horizontal rectangles typically provide guidance to drivers.
# Vertical rectangle usually serve as regulatory notices

While traffic sign shapes and colors can clue you into some important rules of the road, they certainly don’t cover every aspect of life behind the wheel. If you find yourself scratching your head to decipher a traffic sign, study up!

Car TalkUnderstanding Your Vehicle’s Fluids - Engine Coolant by CastroLubeNg(op): 4:26pm On Sep 30, 2016
Without the vital fluids for your Car, the Car would not start. And, even if you did get it started, it would not run for long before
the engine and transmission would self destruct. Even if the powertrain operated long enough to get you underway, you would soon discover
there was no way to bring the vehicle to a stop!Bottom line? The fuel, oil, coolant and other fluids used by your car play a crucial role in your personal safety and your vehicle’s reliability. You should never neglect these liquids nor take them for granted. The best way to make sure vital fluids receive the attention they deserve is to educate yourself and perform some basic checks on a regular basis. When it comes to these liquids, incorrect products, improper maintenance, and inadequate levels can lead to serious problems.

Engine coolant (sometimes called anti-freeze) prevents freeze-up in winter, fights overheating in summer, lubricates the water pump seals,
and protects the cooling system from rust and corrosion year round. Today’s vehicles employ three types of coolant technologies:
• Inorganic Additive Technology (IAT) is traditional green-colored coolant. This coolant provides fast-acting corrosion protection, but its additives deplete quickly so corrosion can result if the coolant is not changed regularly. IAT coolant is used in older vehicles and a declining number of newer vehicles.
• Organic Acid Technology (OAT) coolants are typically red or orange, but may also be purple or yellow. They offer long-life corrosion protection but are not compatible with other types of coolant. These coolants are used in newer General Motors vehicles and some imports.
• Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT) coolants are typically yellow or orange. They combine the benefits of IAT and OAT for a very protective and long-life coolant, and are used in newer Ford and Chrysler vehicles and some imports.
Using the proper coolant in your vehicle is vital to long engine life, but color is not an accurate indicator of coolant type. In fact, two models
from the same year and manufacturer may require different coolants. Consult your owner’s manual for details on the coolant type used in
your car, and be sure to use that formulation when servicing the cooling system. Do not mix different types of coolants.

Coolant Change Intervals
Engine coolants never lose their “permanent” antifreeze capability, but their protective additives are depleted over time. This means the
coolant must be changed periodically, but how often depends on the coolant type. Traditional IAT green coolants should be changed every
two years or 24,000 miles, while OAT coolants only need to be replaced on an average of every five years or 50,000 miles. HOAT coolants are the longest lived, with some manufacturers not calling for replacement until 80,000 miles or more. Again, consult your owner’s manual to determine the required service interval for your vehicle.

Checking Coolant
Cooling systems occasionally need topping up due to fluid loss from evaporation. However, having to add coolant frequently may indicate an
external leak in the cooling system or an internal leak in the engine that should to be investigated by a qualified technician.
• Check the engine coolant with the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine cold and not running.
• Most cars today have a translucent plastic coolant reservoir with molded-in HOT and COLD (or similar) markings that makes it easy to visually check the coolant level. With the engine cold, the level should be at or above the COLD (lower) mark on the tank. If not, top it up to that level with a 50/50 mixture of water and the proper coolant.
• A reservoir check is generally sufficient to ensure a proper level of coolant in the system. However, if the reservoir was dry or there have been recent indications of unusual engine temperatures, you should also check the coolant level in the radiator.
NOTE: Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot; the system is under pressure, hot coolant will be expelled and severe burns could result!
• Remove the radiator cap and inspect the coolant level. In a modern sealed system the radiator should be completely filled. If it is not, top it up with a 50/50 mixture of water and the proper coolant. If the radiator level is low, but there was coolant in the reservoir, the radiator cap may be defective and should be tested by a qualified repair shop. In a properly maintained cooling system, the coolant will retain most of
its original color over time. Coolant that becomes dirty and discolored, or shows traces of rust, should be replaced. The most accurate indication of coolant condition is acid content, which can be checked using simple test strips available at most auto parts stores. At least once a
year, preferably before the onset of winter, the coolant should be checked to determine its level of antifreeze protection.

Engine cholesterol is a dark substance that builds up and clogs oil passages and important engine parts the same way cholesterol clogs a heart.

Severe driving conditions can all cause the build up of a thick, tar-like substance called sludge. These may be:
#Extended intervals between oil changes
#Low fuel quality
#Excessive heat and humidity
#Extensive idling or stop and go traffic
#Choosing the incorrect oil for your engine

If untreated, sludge can rob an engine of power and, ultimately, its life.
The symptoms of sludge are:
#Higher fuel consumption
#Decreased engine power
#Engine overheating
#Low oil pressure

Hello Friends, it is another beautiful week, remember, safety is required at every point in life.

“Drive less, live more” is this year’s theme for Road Safety Week, co-ordinated by the road safety charity Brake. Statistics cited by Brake tell us that every 30 seconds, somewhere in the world, someone is killed in a road accident. The 23rd – 29th November 2015 encourages everyone to get involved in raising awareness of road safety and working together to prevent tragedies of road deaths and injuries, making communities and streets safer for everyone.

Road safety isn’t just about using the green cross code and driving safely, it’s about making our streets safer and more pleasant for everyone and doing what we can to protect ourselves, people around us and the planet we depend on. Driving less or not at all if possible is a big part of this campaign – ditch the driving and walk, cycle or use public transport if you can!

Road Safety event helps to reinforce the ongoing and increasing importance of considering how roads are used and how safe communities really are.

Road Safety “drive less, live more” campaign asks us to think about how much money we could save if we didn’t use cars so much; how much fitter and healthier we’d be if we walked or cycled instead of driving; how much less pollution we’d create without using cars or other transport all the time.

AutosVehicle Lights And Wipers :the Keys To See And Be Seen by CastroLubeNg(op): 5:36pm On Sep 20, 2016
As the days get shorter, lights and wipers play a major role in safe driving, as the chance of an accident increases if you can’t see or be seen.

“With fewer daylight hours in fall, it’s important to make sure your vehicle’s lights and wipers are working properly so your visibility is not compromised and you can be seen by others,”. “From the driver’s seat, you may not notice a light that isn’t working, so inspect all of your car’s lights and replace those that are out.

Car TalkSafety Driving Tips by CastroLubeNg(op): 5:05pm On Sep 16, 2016
To have a smooth driving experience, the following tips will give you a great start:
Learn to recognize the sounds of your engine; you should eventually be able to tell when to change gears without relying on the tachometer.
Do not get distracted while driving such as by texting. This may cause serious injury or even death if you accidentally crash.

When you want to go on a bump, you hold down your clutch and press your brake slightly to slow down and later release the clutch gradually and apply the accelerator gradually to move.

To learn immediately, don't drive in the streets until you master the First/Reverse Gear. Practice driving without applying gas when releasing the clutch. Then practice 100 times with and without applying the accelerator. Do the same with reverse gear. After that then you will be ready to go.

If you are having difficulty starting the car from a stop, make sure that you are slowly letting off the clutch. Pause at the friction point (the part where the engine starts to move the car) and continue slowly pulling the clutch out.

If there is no gear position posted on the shifter, make sure to ask someone who is familiar with the vehicle how the gears are arranged. The last thing you want is to back into something (or someone) when you think you've shifted into first gear.

Make sure you push the clutch all the way in before shifting to the next gear.

Make sure not to rest your left foot on the clutch while driving.

Practice so that you can shift gears without looking at the stick. That way you can keep your eyes on the road.

During sub freezing temperatures, it is not advisable to leave a car for a long time with the handbrake (parking brake) engaged. Moisture will freeze and the handbrake might not disengage.

Have a lovely weekend. wink wink wink cool

Car TalkUnderstanding Engine Cholesterol by CastroLubeNg(op):
Engine cholesterol is a dark substance that builds up and clogs oil passages and important engine parts the same way cholesterol clogs a heart.

Severe driving conditions can all cause the build up of a thick, tar-like substance called sludge. These may be:
#Extended intervals between oil changes
#Low fuel quality
#Excessive heat and humidity
#Extensive idling or stop and go traffic
#Choosing the incorrect oil for your engine

If untreated, sludge can rob an engine of power and, ultimately, its life.
The symptoms of sludge are:
#Higher fuel consumption
#Decreased engine power
#Engine overheating
#Low oil pressure

Car TalkMaintaining A Healthy Battery by CastroLubeNg(op): 5:33pm On Sep 09, 2016
With proper maintenance, the average life expectancy of car batteries is about 55 months.

LEAD-ACID BATTERY CHARGING:
Battery low on power? You might not need a replacement just yet. These recommended charging procedures can help you keep your battery operating at full power.
Before charging your battery, refer to your owner’s manual and your battery charger manual for instructions. Review the safety instructions that came with your charger and battery. Remember that batteries contain sulfuric acid that can cause severe burns, and hydrogen-oxygen gases that can be explosive.

Observe the following guidelines when charging:
# Make sure the battery terminals are clean and free from corrosion.
# Do not attempt to charge a dried-out battery. If needed, add distilled (or drinking) water to just above the battery plates. Do not overfill.
# Refer to any written instructions provided by the battery and charger manufacturers.
# Identify the positive and negative terminals of the battery and attach the correct charger leads.
# If charging a battery connected to a vehicle, be sure that the vehicle’s electrical system has protection against overvoltage or be sure that the charger will not have high-charging voltages that may damage the vehicle’s electrical system.

MAINTENANCE:
STORAGE TIPS
The most important consideration when storing any battery is to make sure the voltage never drops below 12.4 volts. Following these simple tips on battery maintenance can help extend the life of your battery.
If you are storing the battery for an extended period of time, one of the best ways to prevent damage is to make sure the voltage never drops below 12.4 volts. We recommend using a type of "battery maintainer" – a device that will monitor your battery and keep it at full potential during storage. There are two types of maintenance chargers:
Traditional "float" chargers, which provide constant voltage with tapering amperage to the battery even when it is fully charged. The typical floating charging voltage ranges from 13.0 to 13.8 volts.
Fully automatic multistage or multistep chargers, which monitor the battery and charge it as necessary. Multistage maintainers will charge at varying voltages and varying amperage. Some of these multistep chargers are also capable of working well as a battery charger.
If it is not possible to use a maintenance charger, disconnect the battery from the vehicle during storage to prevent the vehicle from discharging the battery. Always provide a full charge with a battery charger prior to storage, then check the battery voltage every three to six months and charge if it falls below 12.4 volts. Also, when possible, store your battery in a cool, dry location.

OTHER MAINTENANCE TIPS
# Check your battery every now and then to make sure its terminal connections are clean, snug and protected from the elements. Signs of corrosion or leakage could mean that your battery is no longer operating as well as it should.
# Always unplug accessories and turn off lights when your car is turned off.
# Keep the battery in cooler places whenever possible. Heat damages batteries.
# Scrub corrosion from the terminals with a solution of water and baking soda.

Car TalkThe Future Of Autonomous Vehicles by CastroLubeNg(op): 5:06pm On Sep 01, 2016
Today’s leading automakers are developing cars that park themselves, brake at the sign of danger and stay in lanes without driver assistance. What once only existed in the imaginations of science fiction writers is now being developed and tested by car-makers in laboratories and on roadways across the globe.

Wonder how the roads in future looks like. There might be no human-driven car passing by you. Yes the future belongs to Autonomous vehicles also known as Uncrewed vehicle, self-driving car or You may simply call it the robotic car, sounds “techy”? Autonomous vehicles sense there surroundings with techniques such as radar, LIDAR and GPS Computer vision. The struggle of making an autonomous car started way back in 1920s and 30s but a truly working model for that appeared in 1980s Mercedes-Benz was a part of that struggle. Since then numerous working prototypes have been developed for autonomous vehicles by some major companies and research institutes.

As partially-autonomous functions in vehicles become more common, the leap to achieving fully driver-less cars becomes ever smaller. Today’s emerging technology — sensors able to read road signs and traffic signals, while also employing vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) systems to navigate roadways, traffic and pedestrian hazards — will be available widespread in the future.

Car TalkUnderstanding Engine Cholesterol- Castrol GTX And Your Engine by CastroLubeNg(op): 5:16pm On Aug 30, 2016
The Early Years

Castrol GTX was launched in 1968 in the UK market. The oil used the same new ‘liquid tungsten’ technology as ‘New Formula Castrol’ (launched two years earlier) and was billed as the ‘high performance motor oil’ suitable for every car under every condition of operation.
Engine cholesterol is a dark substance that builds up and clogs oil passages and important engine parts the same way cholesterol clogs a heart.

Severe driving conditions can all cause the build up of a thick, tar-like substance called sludge. These may be:

P0773 TOYOTA - Shift Solenoid 'E' Electrical Malfunction

Hello Fortumeju, trust you are doing great. Sorry I am just replying your question, I have been away for some time.

Okay, for your question, code P0773-Solenoid E Electrical on Your Car

Possible causes
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty shift solenoid 'E' valve
- Shift solenoid 'E' valve harness is open or shorted
- Shift solenoid 'E' valve circuit poor electrical connection

When is the code detected?
The P0773 code is detected when the gear required by the ECM does not match the actual gear when vehicle is driven.

Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Transmission will not shift gears.

P0773 Toyota Description Shift solenoid valve 'E' is turned ON or OFF by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in response to signals sent from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch, vehicle speed and Engine Control Module (ECM) (throttle opening). Gears will then be shifted to the optimum position.

Hope this helpshuh

Cheers! smiley

Your shift interlock feature, which requires you to step on the brake pedal to prevent unintentionally shifting out of Park, could be malfunctioning. Alternatively, the shift cable or linkage connected to the shift lever could be gummed up with grease or corroded so that it can't operate freely.

If the interlock switch is worn and not fully releasing, or the brake lights don't receive a signal from the brake light switch to illuminate, you won't be able to shift out of Park.

Grease, dirt and moisture can collect in or on the interlock and brake light switches, and on the shift cable and related parts, hampering their operation. When that happens, you're most likely to have problems shifting out of Park when the engine and transmission are cold, such as after the car has sat for hours. After the engine gets warm — and other parts get warmer, as well — the goo might become softer and make it easier to shift out of Park.

Most cars have a means of overriding the shift lock so you can drive the car to a mechanic rather than have it towed: A small door the size of a fingernail is often found on the console next to or close to the shifter itself. After prying this cover off, one can insert a screwdriver or key and press down to release the lock. Vehicles with column shifters may hide the release on top of the steering column or on the bottom. Your owner's manual will help you identify the location on your car.

A transmission that's low on fluid also can be hard to shift out of Park, though that also would likely cause a noticeable degradation in the transmission's overall performance, such as sluggish or harsh shifts.

Another possible cause is that when a car is on even a slight incline, it will put more load on the transmission parking pawl (a bar that engages teeth in a transmission gear to prevent the vehicle from rolling). This is more likely to happen if you didn't engage the parking brake before releasing the brake pedal. The weight of the vehicle rolling onto the parking pawl makes it harder to shift out of Park. To avoid this, engage the parking brake when on an incline before shifting into Park or releasing the brake pedal. That way the parking brake, not the transmission pawl, bears the load.

Lovely weekend. wink shocked

Cheers!
